Dvdplayer

hi all,
iam developing a dvdplayer using jmf and jni and c++ can anyone help me how to retrive the data from the dvd driver and set it in the form of url if anybody have source can you send me so that i can make my player successful , waiting for your reply .
thank you
regards

if you are referring to audio cd when saying songs cd, using the windows performance pack, you can play it by passing the cda file in the cd to the player [got this in the faq]. having a hard time in the dvd player need direct sector access. am doing some revisions in the player code i'll send the core to you in the next few hours.
by the way you can use pure java to read the dvd headers.
2 main problems remain for the dvd player:
1. direct sector access (can be solve with c/c++ code using jni)
2. mpeg2 decoder (dont know yet)

    Hello:
This is not an area I have much experience in......I rarely insert DVDs and I have never had a similar problem.
When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.

  • Dvdplayer stopped working when playing dvd then put standby, out of battery

    Hi all,
This is mad and has happen to me previously. Last time i had to reinstall leopard.
I was watching a DVD. I stopped the watching and put the powerbook in standby.
I forget about it until no more batteries. When i put it backup everything works except tha it does not accept anymore to read DVD MOVIES with dvdplayer.
It launches and never stops and never show the title and the screen remote.
ATSServer is running in background 50% cpu.
here it is what i already tried:
    - repair permissions
    = still the same
    - removed the fonts from /Library/Fonts.(moved in fact i'm not totally mad)
    - Used font explorer to clean the caches.
    = still the same
    - I trashed dvdplayer and it's plist. Then reinstalled it with pacifist and this is still the same.
When i launch DVDPlayer even without a DVD in the drive, my screen becomes unusable, i have to log via ssh to reboot. Killing ATSServer is not working to give me back control. Neither killing dvdplayer.
    Any ideas?
I'd like to avoid reinstalling once again

Although I still haven't completely debugged this problem, I found a VERY HELPFUL TIP.
    System.setProperty("javax.net.debug","all");
before the call that causes the exception. You'll actually get some debugging info written to standard out, such that you will have a prayer of figuring out why the javax.net.* classes don't think your certificate is trusted.

  • How to open an alias of a VideoTs folder by DVDPlayer

    Hello,
Now that i have a 1TByte harddisk i have put some of my DVD's on the harddisk using Mactheripper.
Now i need an easy way to play a DVD.
My idea is to have a folder in the Dock with aliases to the different VideoTs folder.
I know that it is possible within DVDPlayer to open a VideoTS folder.
So i thought that i could have a prefered application to open a folder instead of the Finder. Well that is not possible.
Does anyone have an idea to make some kind of list of aliases of VideoTS in the Dock so i can easily open one of the DVD i have put on my harddisk ?
    Thanks
    Jitse

You might give it a shot with Automator. There's a thread about using Automator for opening the VIDEO_TS folders.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4208371
Summarized, the workflow to create in Automator was:
    1. Finder's "Get Specified Finder Items" and choose a VIDEO_TS folder.
    2. Finder's "Open Finder Items" and choose DVD Player.
That's it. Be sure to choose to save it as an application instead of a workflow so you can just double-click to open it in the Finder, or simply select it from a folder in the Dock. As an application, it won't open Automator and can run by itself. Just name it as the movie title.
They duplicated the workflow and changed the action to have a different VIDEO_TS folder, and this gave them one for each movie. The Automator files are very small, so you don't have to worry about taking up much more space. About four of them makes a megabyte (MB), so you would have to have over four thousand to make a GB. They're about 248KB compared to approximately 44KB for an alias.
Anyways, you can also modify the workflow and then save it as a Finder plug-in so you could simply right-click (or Control-click) a VIDEO_TS folder in the Finder. In this case, you would only need one instead of multiple copies. You would need to delete the first action in the workflow so you have only the "Open Finder Items" action left, then choose "Save As Plug-in..." from Automator's File menu. Probably name it something like "Play VIDEO_TS Folder", or some such.
So, say you have a folder of the movies in the Dock. Click on that so a Finder window opens, then just right-click on the movie in the window and choose to play it. You can Control-click or use the action button in a Finder window's toolbar (it has a gear on it). They all provide the same contextual menu for the item you have selected.
Though, to be able to do it with one click from a folder in the Dock, the first way with individual files is the way to do it.

  • DVDPlayer.app

I need Help! Please! Some how I disabled my DVDPlayer.app and dvd's will not play anymore. How do I reinstall the DVDPlayer.app and where can I get it? Thanks in Advance!

    Hello OT:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
Before you do anything, I suggest you trash the preference file (com.apple.DVDplayer.plist) and restart. If that does not help, delete the application (if it exists) by doing a find on DVDplayer (and then moving the items to the trash).
You can reinstall the application from your software install DVD (some use Pacifist to do this).

You're not alone, my friend. It's very frustrating when you take your newly burned iDVD creation to a friend's house and discover that it stutters & pixelates in his/her DVD player.
The very same disc (Maxell DVD-R with yes, a stick-on label) plays perfectly in the Mac. But knowing whether a specific DVD player will play it smoothly is a guessing game.
I've also tried Verbatim DVD-R discs, and tried without labels, but I had the same outcome.
I'm starting to cope with the reality that our iDVD discs play unpredictably in stand-alone DVD players. As a result, I always bring my computer as a back-up player in the event their DVD player doesn't play nice. I'd be eager to find a fix for this issue, but after scanning these message boards, I'm not too optimistic.

  • What do videographers recommend in DVDplayer

As wannabee videographer, I've run into problems several times with my finished product... an authored dvd not playing on the customers dvd player, although it played on mine with no problems... some even won't play on all the three I have at home.
Often the same problem  player will play a commercially produced DVD with no problem. (like a rented move)
I use Tyo-yuden printable DVDs ... and just recently ran out of the last batch (bought long ago before the merger with JVC).  Also used up a couple of  25 pack of verbatem DataLifePlus.   In both brands the problem came up randomly.
    (DVD-r in both brands)
I've surmised that homemade DVD are more iffy for playing than commercial grade products.
I author with Encore and burn with a sony DRX-820UL-T or the burner on my sager NP8760 laptop, I forgotten the make offhand.
The misfires don't seem to be related to where its burnt.
But cutting to the chase, I wondered if there is a player that is generally seen as being a good candidate for Qaulity Control of the DVDs I produce?
Or for example, if a customer were to ask me what player to use to be most likely to play there wedding or whatever DVD

I would have to agree with the other posts on this
one, since I have had problems in the past with DVD-
R's not working in set-top DVD players.  I've got an old Goldstar set-top from 2001 and
no DVD-R's will work in it, or if they do play they are choppy and just skip like crazy, and it doesn't matter whether I've burned the video on a computer, or if its a copy of a TV program that I recorded off of TV for my personal viewing on a DVD-Recorder.  Not all DVD players are going to be able to play DVD-R's.  If the person receiving the program doesn't care about the video quality, then I would recommned, in order for them to view it, give them a VHS copy along with the DVD, since VHS machines aren't picky about what type of VHS tape you are using.
But if you are sending it to an important client then make sure that your burner is set to its lowest speed to ensure that you get the deepest burn possible.  If you are able to go at 1x then go at 1x.
Thanks to all for good input.
As the original poster, I feel compelled to comment here again, only because this last post run contrary to all I'd heard since I first started with videography (not that long... only about 3yrs off and on).
I'd heard repeatedly that DVD-r was THE one most likely to work in most cases.  Is that not the case?
Going by other posts on this thread, I'd say they have left room for the fact that there is some component of luck here.
No one has commented directly to one aspect:  Does it seem to be the case that home authoried and burnt  DVDS, even by skilled people, are not as reliable as commercially produced DVDs?

  • No audio in DVDPlayer

When I play a commercial DVD in DVDlayer I sometimes have audio and sometimes not, and no amount of messing with the audio controls will help. The same thing happens if I play the DVD in VLC.
Is it a problem with the particular DVD disc, or a computer problem?

    Hi,
    First install
MS-UAA if You have XP with SP2 (before IDT audio) here
MS-UAA if You have XP with SP3 (before IDT audio) here
then try one of this audio drivers:

    2. sp39671, vista driver, reported works in XP here or here

  • DVD skips and 'jumps' when played in dvdplayer for TV

    Hi,
I have an avi file that I converted to an ISO with the 'devede' utility. Then I used K3B to write the finished ISO file to a dvd-RW disc. When I try watching the disc in the player for my TV it skips and jumps in the last twenty or 30 minutes of the movie. It's not the player as it handles commercial dvd ok. Does anyone have any ideas what this may be??

  • Dvd burned from final cut pro hackes when viewed on Bose dvdplayer

When I burn a DVD from final cut pro x (disc creator) on my MAC book pro,(MAC IOS lion 10.7.5) it can be viewed on my computer without problems, but hackes when viewede on my Bose dvd player, even though it works fine with purchased dvds. What is the problem?

Brand of DVD media can cause this.  Not all DVD players will work with all self-burned DVDs.  They are flimsy soft plastic and prone to errors.  This is not an FCPX issue, but simply a self-burned DVD issue.  Try a different brand of DVD media.

  • DVD doesn't play on Microsoft computers, only on Apple computer & DVDplayer

When I burn a DVD using DVD Studio Pro4 I can play it on my MacBook Pro and my DVD player, but not on my Microsoft computer. Do I need to change something in the settings when I edit the film/ transform it to a Quicktime Movie file, compress the file or burn it to DVD?? Or do I need to download a certain Mediaplayer for my microsoft (Windows XP) computer in order to play my DVDs?
Thank you very much for your help!

If you're using Windows Media Player on the Windows system for playback, try another player. Windows Media Player isn't very good for DVD playback.

  • Airplay from mac to apple TV with DVDplayer

When I am playing a DVD on my Macbook Pro and Mirroring via Airplay to my Apple TV I get a Checkerboard on my mac and TV.

Probable cause is Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions dictated by the DVD publisher or studio.

  • DVDPlayer won't play DVDs - DVD player gives error ??-10960

Whenever I inserted a disc into my superdrive on my iMac... a dialogue box would pop up with the message:
    ??-10960
It seems that this message was coming from the apple DVD Player application. It didn't bother me as I would use VLC to play the DVD. (However, my DVD drive was set to Region 1 and I wanted to play a Region 2 DVD so I needed the apple DVD Player to work to so I could change the region on the DVD).
When I used Spotlight to find DVD Player I noticed the icon was not the proper icon but rather a generic icon that looked like a ruler, pencil and brush. It was as if DVD Player was corrupt or not recognized.
    Solution Summary
To remove the 10960 error, re-install apple DVD Player from Max OS X Install Disc (I suggest using Pacifist to perform the re-install).
    Solution Detail
I re-installed DVD Player from the Mac OS X Install Disc. There is no need to reinstall the whole OS.
There is a great tool called Pacifist (http://www.charlessoft.com/).
    Install Pacifist.
Insert your Mac OS X Install Disc into your DVD drive.
    Start the Pacifist application.
Select the "Open Apple Install Discs" option in Pacifist... let Pacifist load all the packages.
Once Pacifist has finished loading all the packages from the Mac OS X Install Disc - find the DVD Player.app.
    Select the DVD Player.app file.
Click the Install option in Pacifist (top left).
Once Pacifist has finished DVD Player should now be re-installed. If you search for DVD Player in Spotlight DVD Player should now have it's proper icon and start without the error message :
    ??-10960
    Good Luck!

I've marked this post as answered since the post also contains the solution. I posted it as there were no clear solutions to the DVD Player application 10960 problem.
