DW.exe 100% CPU use

I'm using DW CS3 on a Dell laptop, XP-SP2, 1gig Ram, 1.6ghz
processor. After 15 to 30 minutes of normal behavior DW starts
using 99% of CPU cycles (according to Windows Task Manager) for 3
to 5 minutes, effectively freezing the system. This can happen
while doing normal code editing, or it can happen when absolutely
nothing is going on. It will then release the system, but when you
click on something, it goes right back into 99% CPU use. It doesn't
seem to be associated with file transfers, but Task Manager does
report "I/O Other" activity as though it's doing something on the
internet.
Any thoughts out there?
Thanks!!!

Are you running an antivirus on this box? Is it scanning
realtime?

  • Some web pages causing 100% CPU use of iexplore.exe since Flash update

I'm having a problem with certain Amazon.com pages hanging my
Internet Explorer 6 using Flash Player 10,0,12,36, causing 100% CPU
use for iexplore.exe and requiring me to End Task to quit. All the
pages effected have an interactive mouseover Size and Color chart
that intially says "Loading" but then says "Select Size and Color"
once loaded. One mouseovers the various color patches and size
options, each time giving item availability in that option. When
the pages hang the IE browser with 100% CPU use that chart never
gets to the "Select Size and Color" point, instead stuck at the
"Loading" status. This happens most times, but not every time.
Sometimes the pages load correctly, after a brief lag as it loads
    the chart.
Amazon pages without this chart load fine.
The start of this problem coincides with updating Flash.
I can prevent the problem from happening almost every time if
I can quickly get my cursor into that chart area while the page
begins loading. If I allow the pages to load fully with no
interaction they will hang almost every time.
I have not noticed any problems on those same web pages using
    Firefox using Flash Player 9,0,124,0
I also have not noticed any issues with other sites using
Internet Explorer either. (YouTube, QVC, CNN...etc, all OK.)
I had posted for assistance on the Experts Exchange site and
there was some debate on whether the chart was a Java or
Flash-based chart, so initially it was being approached as a
possible Java issue, so I removed all Java versions on the system
and installed various versions, but the same problem persists.
I've downloaded but not run the Flash Uninstaller, as I'm
reluctant to uninstall the Firefox Flash version without knowing
for sure I could install 9,0,124,0 again.
I've downloaded an archived fp9_archive.zip, which seems to
indicate the contained files flashplayer9r124_winax.exe (Internet
Explorer) and flashplayer9r124_win.exe (Netscape) would be versions
9,0,124,0 to install after running the uninstaller.
Can anyone check a few of the links below and see if the
"Select Size and Color" chart is Flash based? If so, would
executing the files listed above install 9,0,124,0 into my
    respective browsers again?

  • Microsoft.Exchange.AddressBook.Service.exe 100% CPU Usage

    Hi,
We have an exchange server 2010 and the Microsoft.Exchange.AddressBook.Service.exe used 100% CPU Usage suddenly. However, after rebooting the server, the CPU Usage of the above .exe is back to normal. Client cannot connect to the exchange server during
the high CPU Usage of the above .exe.
Any ideas for the above problems? Thank You.

    Hi
Microsoft.Exchange.AddressBook.Service.exe is related to OAB function.
Maybe mobile or client fails to download will cause this problem.
What was the fix for this?

  • Performance Problem: qttask.exe 100% CPU

I have a new 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle. So I only want music files, and at this point they are all from my existing CD's and Windows Media Player files.
I run on an HP machine 640 mb memory, AMD 1295mhz running Windows XP Home SP 2. Definitely an old dawg.
I loaded iTunes and QuickTime. Everything works but the qttask.exe program runs at close to 100% CPU even with iTunes closed. Which slows everything down a bit...
I could not get iTunes to run w/o QT. I unchecked all of the video and graphics selection and updates on QT, but no luck. Does anyone have suggestion for settings or one of the QT 'clones' that don't have or use all of that video overhead or ???
    Thanks!
    Grutzbo

I am not sure why, but after doing all of the cleanup, unload and re-install recommended by Apple - the gttask.exe still ran at 100% CPU. So I took a shot at your recommendation and unflagged it in the Startup tab in the msconfig menu.
And iTunes seems to be working ok and the CPU usage bounces around between 30%-50%. Which aint bad for this broken down old box! So thanks, Mr Black!!
I am of course curious about what qttask.exe is supposed to do and why everything works without it? But I don't understand how water gets into the upstairs faucet so I don't need to know unless there is some risk. (I only use it for my G2 Shuffle so I can live without most of QT functionality.)
    Thanks again!!

  • 100% CPU using LabView 7.1 and DSC module

Seven years ago I used BridgeView and PXI to execute a project, and the results were so good that after that initial system, I installed one more using BridgeView, and three more using LabView 7.1.
BridgeView is working very well, but lately, LabView 7.1 is giving me more and more problems. It all started in a system running LabView 7.1 and DSC on Windows XP, using a PXI-8187 controller with a PXI-1042 chassis. I have two PXI-6533 digital I/O boards, one PXI-6030E multifunction, one PXI-6713 analog output board, one PXI-6602 counter board and one PXI-8422 serial com. board. In may/06, all of the sudden, the CPU went to a 100% use. Since I am running PID's to control a flash-butt welding machine in a steel factory, this was extremely dangerous. I changed the controller and everything went back to normal. It was running fine until december/06, when the same behavior appeared again. This time changing the controller did not help. We increased the system memory, from 256 MB to 512 MB and everything worked fine. But one month later (january/07) the fault reappeared. This time we changed the chassis and from that moment to this time, we are running smoothly.
Application problems were suspect from the very first time this problem appeared, but I was unable to identify the source, if any. I used PROFILE VI's and apparently the write/read tags were taking all the processor resources. However, changing the routines and disabling communications, and optimizing CPU intensive programs never solved the CPU overload.
Until now, I was aware of only one system showing this erratic behavior. But today I went to check another system, with a totally different application. This one is used to measure the thickness of the steel sheet on a rolling mill. Is not so resource-intensive, but the maintenance folks told me that every time they turned off this particular system, they always had problems trying to turn it on.
I was suspecting of a PLC-communication related issue, but what I found turned my alarms on. I turned off the system, which was fully functional, and turned it back on, and there it was, CPU load at 100%!. Is exactly the same problem that I have on the welder. This system has a PXI-8184, a PXI-1042 chassis, Windows XP, one PXI-6030E, one PXI-6713 and one PXI-6533. I battled for 20 minutes to put the system back in normal conditions.
I specified every single board, installed everything and programmed all the applications. The BridgeView applications have never showed anything like this. I am using the DSC (Datalogging and Supervisory Control Module) on both applications, and the Lookout Protocol Drivers are communicating to Modicon PLC's.
Please, I need help to solve this issue. I believe none of your actual Knowledge Base "100% CPU" articles apply to my case...
    Thanks in advance...

    Thanks for your reply...
Yes, sometimes I have the feeling that the systems works again because some file or database gets initialized after so many reboots.
Intentionally I turned off all the events and alarm logging to disk. Also the historical data logging is disabled. This is done by code, every time the main VI is started. This was included precisely to save CPU processing power. However, I am communicating to PLC's, and of course I have to declare variables inside the citadel database to make the communication possible.
Right now I can't have access to the application, because the mill is rolling, but during the next maintenance stop I will check the database location and size, and I could change the directory location the next time the fault comes up.

  • 100% CPU use making me want to cry with 3 browsers

I am using an Athlon XP 2500+ laptop/notebook with 1gb RAM
and am having high CPU problems with Firefox 2.0.0.3 (no
    extensions), Opera 9.2 and IE.7.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and Shockwave and
uninstalled my AV, HIPS and firewall - temporarily!
The following web slideshow makes any browser reach 100% CPU
and causes the mouse to seriously lag on each browser.
    http://www.koat.com/slideshow/news/13245211/detail.html
This high usage is constant, even when the mouse is not being
touched and the page is not moving or playing music, etc.
Strangely, if the controls of the slideshow are scrolled off
the screen, then CPU returns to normal: <10%
So I only get slowdown when I can SEE the buttons that move
    on to the next slide!
    Can anyone help?

    Hi,

This thread, Could it be the Logic Board?, is about the same problem. You may want to try the drive in an external firewire enclosure.

  • Egather2.exe 100% CPU Util

For quite a long time now, every Sunday morning, my CPU is pegged at 100% with egather2.exe being the culpret. A few months ago, there was an update which seemed that it was supposed to fix the problem... but it has not. Any ideas?
Do I need to remove the entire R&R software to get rid of this issue?
I end up needing to kill both the egather2 and the process which starts it (I can't recall the name) and then rebooting, every Sunday morning.
    Thanks

After a bit of research, I found that someone had tried editing the "opmn.xml" configuration and changing the port to 6102. Everything worked after I restarted the process from the command line using "opmnctl startall", "opmnctl reload".

  • External CD/DVD burner sends OSX into 100% CPU use, cddafs.util file

    Hi,
I have a LaCie external CD/DVD burner (301484U) which I use a replacement for the SuperDrive that died in my Powerbook 15" DL, connecting by Firewire. Lately, instead of mounting CDs, it causes the cddafs.util file to take up whatever is left of my CPU sending it into 100% use. Ejecting using F12 and using the button on the drive to eject no longer work. I have to turn the drive off and turn it back on again to eject the disc.
I will ask LaCie too but wanted to see what anyone might say here as well. The drive is relatively new, bought in September. Sometimes CDs mount, sometimes they don't.
I'd be happy to supply more info but am not sure what is needed at this point.
One weird thing happened that might be related. Yesterday I was recording a record to be made into a CD using Final Vinyl and in the middle of the recording it gave me a blue screen with two sets of vertical black lines, freezing the machine. I rebooted and all was fine. I ran Disk Utility and other than a few permissions needing to be fixed, all was well. Nothing interesting in the trash upon restart.
    Thanks for any help.
    Cheers,

It works in the other account so it should be a file in my normal account right? (I misinterpreted what you meant by "doing it".) If it didn't work in the other account then it would be a hardware problem, possibly the power supply, right?
I'll move the CD Info.cidb file to the Desktop as you suggest. I hope that file isn't too corrupt. Over the years I've lost what CDs I've played from problems with that file. (I have actually kept track of most every CD since my first Mac, with the exception of what I've lost from crashes. I use a program or two to read it. A good one is iCDC for example.)

  • Kernel26MM: 100% CPU use, non-stop?

I just installed the latest MM kernel, and discovered that, after half an hour of uptime or so, the CPU usage jumps to 100% and refuses to come back down. Listing the running processes shows me that none of them are eating up that much CPU time.
(Yes, I know that the MM kernel isn't stable. I'm just pointing out what I'm guessing is a bug.)

i was wrong: it does not solve this issue, but it makes it appear less frequent (no idea why)
i'm uploading a -2 release of the kernel26mm package that has magic keys enabled.
if you see kswapd0 running without idling, press [ALT]-[SysRq]-[p] (SysRq is same as PrtScrn (print screen button) - maybe you will need to go to VC first, if you WM catches such combinations) and then do dmesg and see the last part that was added. if it is different to the one i get here:

feel free to report to me or directly to the kernel ML to the thread about it to help the devs find out what's happening.

Seems like the inventory process on my Vista desktops has lost it's mind in the past few days. The June PRU went on the 8th. And I ran some Windows Updates from this past patch Tuesday. Has anyone else had this happen or know of a fix?

Yes, but it hasn't changed. I peformed a test on a PC with no anti-virus with the same results. COLW32.EXE just sits and spins at 50% or 100% depending on the machine. The colw32.log file ends with these two lines.

  • Dock frozen, taking 100% CPU, 50gb swap

My dock is frozen and shows 100% cpu use (that is, 100% of one core).  It gradually takes more and more memory until I run out of hard disk space.  Killing the process does nothing - it immediately comes back at 100% of cpu and starts eating the memory over again.  Same with deleting com.apple.dock.plist.
This problem was occuring in 10.8.3, so i tried updating to 10.8.4, which had no effect.
    Any ideas?

I had this problem, eventually found a solution - it's to do with Parallels (and maybe VMWare Fusion) sharing Windows applications to the Mac Dock. It turned out that I had quit Parallels, but somehow it had left something about these shared Dock items in limbo.  Restarting Parallels got things right again, then disabling the Shared Windows Apps in the configuration of the VMs
    See http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20074173-263/dock-using-100-cpu-after-os-x- 10.6.8-update-for-parallels-6-users/
