Dynamic Column depending on Column Selector Help
Hi everyone, i have an issue with one of the requests
The Subject Area Sales has Columns Report Date and Sales Facts
Sales (Subject Area)
Report Date (Column1)
Date
Day Ago Date
Week Ago Date
Month Ago Date
Sales Facts (Column2)
Gross Sales
Day Ago Gross Sales
Week Ago Gross Sales
Month Ago Gross Sales
The Request is to see the Date, Gross Sales, any one Historic Gross Sales (Day Ago or Week Ago or Month Ago) and the Historic Date.
I created the answer request with a column selector on the Day Ago Gross Sales and added Week Ago Gross Sales and Month Ago Agross Sales as items in the selector
Request:
Column Selector: Prior Period[Day Ago Gross Sales]
Date------------------Gross Sales-------------- Day Ago Gross Sales-----------Historic Date
9/1/2008------------$100--------------------------$150------------------------------------????????
9/2/2008------------$99----------------------------$89-------------------------------------????????
9/3/2008------------$35----------------------------$22-------------------------------------????????
The Column Selector works great.(AKA, when I select Prior Period as Week Ago Gross Sales, I get the Date, Gross Sales and Week Ago Gross Sales as expected.
Issue:
How would I get the Historic Date, dynamically based on the Column Selector?
ex: 1. When the column Selector, Prior Period = [Day Ago Gross Sales] Then I would like to see the Day Ago Dates under the Historic Date bucket
2. When the column Selector, Prior Period = [Week Ago Gross Sales] Then I would like to see the Week Ago Dates under the Historic Date bucket. and so on......
Can any one please help me how do i link the [Historic Gross Sales] with the [Historic Dates]
Please let me know if the above situation is not explained well and I will try to give more inputs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sai

Hi Vency, thanks for the response.
I am sure your logic might have satisfied my request. I did a slight different approach using Dashboard Prompts and Guided Navigation for which there is a good example in the forums.
The only reason I did not go with the pivot table approach was that my answer request needs to display a Narrative View of the selected Date Range and the Prior Date Range.
I mean, if the user wants to see the Gross Sales for the Current Week, compared with the Gross Sales a Week Ago, then the Pivot Table approach would satisfy the main graph portion, but there is't any easy way to feed the Narrative View that shows only the Begin and End dates of Current Week and the Compare Week.
If anyone needs an example or sample code for my requests, please feel free to ask here and I will respond accordingly.
Thanks Very Much
Sai

Build dynamic query depending upon selection of table and columns
Hi ,
I want your views on following requirement :
we r doing generic export to excel functionality .
1.User will select multiple tables and according to tables ,columns on that table will select
2.There can be multiple table
3.depending upon column and table selection , we have to build dynamic query and execute .
Please let me know is it possible .If yes then please tell me how to do above requirement.
Thanks in advanceHi,
Identifiers cannot be used as bind variables, query are parsed
before evaluate bind variables. Identifiers like table name.
For excel you can use some like this:
SET MARKUP HTML ON ENTMAP ON SPOOL ON PREFORMAT OFF
SPOOL test_xls.xls
SELECT colum1||chr(9)||columN FROM tableName;
or CSV:
SELECT colum1|| ',' ||columN FROM tableName;
SPOOL OFF
SET MARKUP HTML OFF ENTMAP OFF SPOOL OFF PREFORMAT ON
For construct the query i suggest to read "Dynamic SQL Statements":

How to create a dynamic action from link column in classic report
I Have an apex page that display a modal window utilizing jquery. In the modal window I have a classic report with a link column that I want to capture its click event.
I was thinking I could create a dynamic action with selection type=jquery selector. Not for sure if I need to do anything on link column and do not know the syntax
for jquery selector. Would appreciate any help or direction???Thank you for your response. I am very new to Jquery so don't understand all that well.
What I did:
I created a dynamic action
Event: Click
Selection Type: jQuery Selector
jQuery Selector: tdheaders
Created True Actions
I created an alert to see if this is being executed.
Alert 'I made it here'
What I have:
I created a report region with the following query:
Select empno, ename, 'SELECT' from emp
where (ename like '%'||ltrim(rtrim(:P2_SEARCHPU))||'%'
or :P2_SEARCHPU is null)
I created 'SELECT' column as Link Column
Report Attributes
Link Text Select
Target Page in this Application
Page 2
Region Header
<div id="ModalForm2" title="Employee List" style="display:none">
Region Footer
</div>
This report is displayed in a modal form when a button is clicked.
Code for modal window in Page Header
<script type="text/javascript">
$( function() {
$('#ModalForm2').dialog(
{ modal : true ,
autoOpen : false ,
buttons : {
Cancel : function() {
closeForm2();
function openForm2()
$('#ModalForm2').dialog('open');
function closeForm2()
$('#ModalForm2 input[type="text"]').val('');
$('#ModalForm2').dialog('close');
</script>
I am trying to capture the click event on the link column of the report in the modal form. I want to pass a couple of column values
back to the main form and close the modal window. I do not want to do the submit that happens if I click on the link column and link back to the main page(2)
If I let the submit to happen, all other entered fields are cleared on my main form.
Just don't understand the jQuery selector. I have no problem catching the button clicks on the modal form. -

Hi,
a few hours ago I stumbled across this cookbook entry - it
didn't solve MY problem, but maybe it provides a way to solve your
problem?
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/communityengine/index.cfm?event=showdetails&postId=61&product Id=2&loc=en_US
From the article:
quote:
Changing the background color of a DataGrid cell is not as
simple as changing some style because the default renderer for a
DataGrid cell does not have a backgroundColor. Therefore, to do
this simple task, you have to create a custom itemRenderer where
you draw your own background in the updateDisplayList function.

Shading certain columns depending on start day of week.
Good Afternoon,
I have reason to edit the calendar wizard to make it completely automated. And before anyone says that this isn't used anymore, we've received 2 separate calendar files over the last made from our Finance departments, each making them with Word calendar
wizard highlighting year end dates. So believe me, the calendar wizard is still very much in use!
Last September, I finally figured out how to automate the first day of the week, though. I have 2 templates now, one for Monday as first day and one for Sunday being the first day of the week.
The only thing missing is to automate the shading so that the columns for Saturday and Sunday are shaded with light grey, and since it's automation we're talking about, only those cells in the columns with a number in them.
I know it's do-able, I'm just not a vb expert, only being able to handle editing simple macros.
But I understand that since I had some help with the macros and they might have changed from the original to some degree, that I should post the code. Is this correct? I hope that it is.

The above is from the module labelled "Calendar". I don't believe anything was altered in the module labelled "Common", but please let me know that I should post it.
To recap, in this wizard file, the first day of the week is set for Monday. So the Saturday and Sunday columns always fall as the last 2 columns in the calendar table (Sunday as first day has the 1st and last column as the ones that would need shading).
How can that syntax be added to shade the last 2 columns in the Monday calendar wizard, and the 1st and last column for the Sunday calendar wizard and hopefully shading just those particular cells in either with numbers in them?
Thank you! Very much appreciated.Thanks, Doug! Works beautifully. I tried them again this morning, really incredible!
I'm going to keep the Monday and Sunday wizard files as separate files because I realized that I don't have the skills (or the time) to try to figure out how to modify it so the user is requested the starting day. It'll be beyond my meager skills,
I'm sure, especially since there are all those dialogue boxes to contend with at the wizard's start. I was forgetting about those. So leaving these as 2 separate files where one chooses the starting day as per the title, the Monday one for Monday
and the other, the Sunday one, for a Sunday start day.
However, the only difference between them at this point is that one has a "0" for Sunday and the other a "1" for Monday, at the appropriate spots in the code. being the starting week day and the other a "1" for Monday.
That's it. They're beautifully the same in the rest of the code. And a further benefit is that only one module was touched at all for all of this, the Calendar module (leaving the one labelled "Common" untouched.
So anyone with a calendar wizard file can just change the piece of code below (begging the group's indulgence, if I may, in posting the modified code (??):

Dynamic iterating over table columns
hello there,
i have to create a string depending on the values in my table columns. this string creation is used on different tables with different number of columns and different column types.
so i want to write a procedure which does simplified the following:
1. create dynamic rowtype with a select statement
2. iterate over rowtype columns and append column value to a string
3. insert the created string in another table.
by trying this dynamically for any table i run in the following two issues:
1. creation of a rowtype needs the tabletype
2. no iterating over rowtype possible
are their any ideas to solve this issue. or do i have to write a procedure for every table i use.
regards,
renéYou can do it with a single, generic procedure using DBMS_SQL.

Grideview Bind Event - Place data in column depending on result
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help?
I need to bind a Gridview to an SQL query (easily done) but when I bind the data, I need the data to appear in a specific column depending on the date field.
So essentially the Gridview will hold a financial report, and the value can be a past value received or a future value to be processed, this value is held in the same column in the SQL database and there is nothing to determine whether it is past or future
value other than the date the report was generated on (I didn't design the database)
So in case that doesn't make sense, when I run a report in July, I need all fields pre-July to appear in Column A but all fields for July to appear in Column B.
Thanks in advance for any help
GHello GRJ28,
GridView can stands for the following:
1.ASP.NET GridView(System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl GridView)
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.gridview%28v=vs.110%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
2. WPF GridView(System.Windows.Controls.GridView GridView)
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.gridview(v=vs.110).aspx
Can you specific your project?
If it is ASP.NET project, you have to post on ASP.NET forum as "CoolDadTx " mentioned.
If it is WPF project, here is
WPF forum and please consider whether you need a button or something to refresh the data. The two-way binding in WPF seems will not trigger when in your scenario. What's more, since you want your GridView change when data changed, you may need to change
your property of GridView with that button or any event.

Barry

Add columns to extended value selector
Hi All,
I have created an Extended value selector that has 2 columns(KEY column and VALUE column). How do I add columns to Extended Value Selector.
Thanks,
TomHI Tom,
->EVS just picks value from enumeration type which you must have created and displays those value.
->ONLY key and Value are the two columns possible. You cannot add any new columns to that.
->F4 help helps only to get values for a particular field which are already present somewhere ex may be some bapi or database.
->OVS is new version and you can look for that also if it suits you.
Thanx. -
REP-1241 Circular column dependency originating with column
Dear,
I receive the error,
REP-1241 Circular column dependency originating with column 'cenvat_opening'
I have the following return statement for a column total_credit;
function total_creditFormula return Number is
begin
Return (return nvl(:cf_cenvat_closing ,0) - nvl(:cf_duty_on_goods_ed,0);
end;
Now i am using this total_creditFormula for the error formula column 'cenvat_opening'
function cenvat_openingFormula return Number is
f_num_opn number(14,2);
begin
SELECT NVL(Amount,0) INTO F_NUM_OPN
FROM Fin_Ex_Pla_Debit_Others
WHERE FISCAL_YR_CD = :P_FISCAL_YR
AND PERIOD_NO = :P_PERIOD
AND ADD_TYPE = 'I';
RETURN(F_NUM_OPN);
EXCEPTION
WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
RETURN (:total_credit); <------------
end;
here the formula column 'total_credit' has the following return statements;
RETURN Nvl(:cenvat_opening,0) + Nvl(:cenvat_credit_manu,0)
so how can i use this formula column? is there any other option to return the value in the same column.
I hope you understand,
Pls help,
Stalin EphraimHi,
Iam presuming here that your report contains atleast 2 queries, with each requiring the other to be executed first. The query listed in the message is one of the conflicting queries.
You may want to edit the query listed or another conflicting query to remove the circular dependency.

Myfaces t:columns question...please help me...
Hi guys,
i've tried lots of solutions,but i think i've find right solution to solve my question.
I have to create a datatable with a fixed number of columns and other dynamic columns.
I've rendered it using t:columns of Myfaces and it works fine.
It's a piece of jsp page
<t:dataTable
value="#{biosamplesTable.biosamples}"
var="biosampleItem"
binding="#{biosamplesTable.biosampleDataTable}" >
<h:column >
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Organism" />
</f:facet>
<h:selectOneMenu value="#{biosampleItem.organism}">
<f:selectItems value="#{getDropList.selectOrganism}"/>
</h:selectOneMenu>
etc..etc..
<t:columns value="#{biosamplesTable.columns}" var="col">
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Nuova" />
</f:facet>
<h:inputText value="#{biosampleItem.column}" />
</t:columns>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Actions" />
</f:facet>
<h:commandButton
value="Invia dati biosample" actionListener="#{biosamplesTable.editBiosample}" id="editBiosample">
</h:commandButton>
</h:column>
</t:dataTable>
</h:form>
} My only question is:
I'm able to retrieve the h:column values for each row,i do it in editBiosample method
public void editBiosample(ActionEvent event) throws SQLException {
setBiosampleItem((Biosample) getBiosampleDataTable().getRowData());
try {
if (conn != null) {
Experiment exp = (Experiment) ViewUtils.eval("#{experiment}");
PreparedStatement pst3 = null;
pst3 = conn
.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO campione(id_,organismo,protocollotrattamento,metodoestrazione,tipoamplificazione,protocolloibridazione,protocollomarcatura) VALUES(?,?,?,?,?,?,?)");
pst3.setInt(1, exp.getAutoKey());
pst3.setString(2, getBiosampleItem().getOrganism());
pst3.setString(3, getBiosampleItem().getTreatmentProtocol());
etc...
pst3.executeUpdate();
pst3.close();
catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
}now i have to retrieve the h:columns values for each row,how can i do it?
Please help me,i've started so but there is some error,each values is null!!
For generating columns i've used..
public List getColumns() throws Exception {
if (load2 == 0) {
for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++) {
UIOutput input = new UIInput();
ValueBinding myItem =
FacesContext
.getCurrentInstance()
.getApplication()
.createValueBinding("#{biosampleItem[" + i + "]}");
input.setValueBinding("value", myItem);
UIColumn column = new UIColumn();
column.getChildren().add(input);
columns.add(column);
load2=1;
else this.columns=columns;
// Reload after every request.
return columns;
}what's wrong?
Please help me,i need to solve my problem...
thanks in advance...

giubatOk, you have more than one frame and when you make your dialog, it is only modal on one frame.
Not sure how to make a workaround for that. That would proably require that when another frame got the focus, it should check if any of the frames has a modal dialog visible, and if that is the case, it should move the dialog to the front (dialog.toFront()). -
Create Site Column and add it to two different list as dependent lookup column
I want to create two lookup lists that will have one common column. The common column values will vary depending on the list.
For ex: List A holds Countries (USA) and their Currency code (USD). List B holds States (New York) and their code (NY). The lists are completely independent of each other. I would like to create a common site column named "Code" of type
Text and use it across these two lists. Is it possible?
My solution so far -
a. created the site column (programmatically) which is pretty straight forward.
b. created list definition with two fields (Title and Code).
c. created list instance for Country list. Added data rows in the elements.xml. But not sure how to add Code field as dependent lookup.
If I remove the code field from the elements.xml, the solution deploys successfully creating the Country list with just the Title field. But I need both the fields. Any help is appreciated.
Here is a look at the elements.xml with data rows for Country list instance
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
<ListInstance Title="List Instance" OnQuickLaunch="TRUE" TemplateType="10001" Url="Lists/CountryList" Description="Country Values">
<Data>
<Rows>
<Row>
<Field Name="Title">USA</Field>
<Field Name="Code">USD</Field>
</Row>
<Row>
<Field Name="Title">Japan</Field>
<Field Name="Code">Yen</Field>
</Row>
<Row>
<Field Name="Title">Australia</Field>
<Field Name="Code">AUD</Field>
</Row>
</Rows>
</Data>
</ListInstance>
</Elements>Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add lookup field to the list in elements.xml.
I recoment you to create lookup column as site column, then bind the lookup column to the contnet type, and then use the contnet type in the list.
For more information, you can refer to:

Order query depending on column names passed at runtime
Hi
Can any one suggest how to order by at run time depending on column name passed as parameter.
create or replace procedure dummy_proc( p_orderby varchar2,p_refcursor out sys_refcursor)
is
begin
open p_refcursor for select * from
emp where Status='A'
order by (select p_orderby from dual);
end;
--execution part for testing
declare
v_outcursor sys_refcursor;
v_rec_data emp%rowtype;
v_cnt number;
begin
dummy_proc ('ename,sal',v_outcursor);
begin
loop
fetch v_outcursor into v_rec_data;
v_cnt:=v_outcursor%rowcount;
exit when v_outcursor%notfound;
dbms_output.put_line('empno '|| to_char(v_rec_data.empno));
dbms_output.put_line('empno '|| v_rec_data.ename);
end loop;
end;
dbms_output.put_line('Count is'|| to_char(v_cnt));
end;
we do not want to something like below as my actual query is very big with union statements and case expressions, (below is just an similar example)
how i tried to order by but its not working.
v_sql='select * from emp where empno= '|| p_empno || ' order by '|| p_orderby;
open p_refcursor for v_sql;
Thanks in advance

v_sql='select * from emp where empno= '|| p_empno ||

open p_refcursor for v_sql;I agree, you really don't want to do that, you want to use BIND VARIABLES.
v_sql := ' select * from emp where empno = :bound_empno order by :bound_orderby';
open p_refcursor for v_sql using p_empno, p_orderby;
[pre]
The size of the statement shouldn't come in to play, if the only dynamic portion of it is the order by clause then declare a constant which is the large query (you can use a LONG datatype) and then concatenate in the order by clause before you return the reference cursor.
Unless you can give a legitimate reason for why you cannot use Dynamic SQL (not why you do not want to use it) this would be my approach.
And please, if you don't know what a bind variable is...read about them, or your system will suffer. -
Is it posible a query that builds dynamically the number of columns?
