Grideview Bind Event - Place data in column depending on result
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help?
I need to bind a Gridview to an SQL query (easily done) but when I bind the data, I need the data to appear in a specific column depending on the date field.
So essentially the Gridview will hold a financial report, and the value can be a past value received or a future value to be processed, this value is held in the same column in the SQL database and there is nothing to determine whether it is past or future
value other than the date the report was generated on (I didn't design the database)
So in case that doesn't make sense, when I run a report in July, I need all fields pre-July to appear in Column A but all fields for July to appear in Column B.
Thanks in advance for any help
G
Hello GRJ28,
GridView can stands for the following:
1.ASP.NET GridView(System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl GridView)
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.gridview%28v=vs.110%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
2. WPF GridView(System.Windows.Controls.GridView GridView)
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.gridview(v=vs.110).aspx
Can you specific your project?
If it is ASP.NET project, you have to post on ASP.NET forum as "CoolDadTx " mentioned.
If it is WPF project, here is
WPF forum and please consider whether you need a button or something to refresh the data. The two-way binding in WPF seems will not trigger when in your scenario. What's more, since you want your GridView change when data changed, you may need to change
your property of GridView with that button or any event.
Best regards,
Barry

Getting past days data based on DATE data type column
I am trying to extract last 2 days data using date data type column with below query,
select * from tbl
where col < col -2;
this is not showing me any data. please help where i am making mistake. guide please. thxHi,
When you say "last 2 days" do you mean the 48 hours right before run-time?
If so, you want to compare col to SYSDATE:
select *
from tbl
where col > SYSDATE - 2
and col <= SYSDATE
;If you mean the "last 2 days" before some other event, then replace SYSDATE with that date in both places above.
If you were trying
where col > col - 2then you should have been getting all rows that have a non-NULL col. If you were getting no results, then something is very wrong.
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
If the results depend on when you run the query, then give a couple of different examples, with the run-time. for example "If I run this at 03:00:00 on July 1, 2012, then I should get ... but if I run ir at 15:00:00 on July 1, 2012, then the results should be ...".
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using.

Shading certain columns depending on start day of week.
Good Afternoon,
I have reason to edit the calendar wizard to make it completely automated. And before anyone says that this isn't used anymore, we've received 2 separate calendar files over the last made from our Finance departments, each making them with Word calendar
wizard highlighting year end dates. So believe me, the calendar wizard is still very much in use!
Last September, I finally figured out how to automate the first day of the week, though. I have 2 templates now, one for Monday as first day and one for Sunday being the first day of the week.
The only thing missing is to automate the shading so that the columns for Saturday and Sunday are shaded with light grey, and since it's automation we're talking about, only those cells in the columns with a number in them.
I know it's do-able, I'm just not a vb expert, only being able to handle editing simple macros.
But I understand that since I had some help with the macros and they might have changed from the original to some degree, that I should post the code. Is this correct? I hope that it is.

The above is from the module labelled "Calendar". I don't believe anything was altered in the module labelled "Common", but please let me know that I should post it.
To recap, in this wizard file, the first day of the week is set for Monday. So the Saturday and Sunday columns always fall as the last 2 columns in the calendar table (Sunday as first day has the 1st and last column as the ones that would need shading).
How can that syntax be added to shade the last 2 columns in the Monday calendar wizard, and the 1st and last column for the Sunday calendar wizard and hopefully shading just those particular cells in either with numbers in them?
Thank you! Very much appreciated.Thanks, Doug! Works beautifully. I tried them again this morning, really incredible!
I'm going to keep the Monday and Sunday wizard files as separate files because I realized that I don't have the skills (or the time) to try to figure out how to modify it so the user is requested the starting day. It'll be beyond my meager skills,
I'm sure, especially since there are all those dialogue boxes to contend with at the wizard's start. I was forgetting about those. So leaving these as 2 separate files where one chooses the starting day as per the title, the Monday one for Monday
and the other, the Sunday one, for a Sunday start day.
However, the only difference between them at this point is that one has a "0" for Sunday and the other a "1" for Monday, at the appropriate spots in the code. being the starting week day and the other a "1" for Monday.
That's it. They're beautifully the same in the rest of the code. And a further benefit is that only one module was touched at all for all of this, the Calendar module (leaving the one labelled "Common" untouched.
So anyone with a calendar wizard file can just change the piece of code below (begging the group's indulgence, if I may, in posting the modified code (??):

Losing Events, Places, Faces and other problems in iPhoto
Bought the new iMac in January; carefully transferred photos from old G4 and took ages updating the details using the great events/places/faces etc facility. Recently 2 things happened - I bought a new camera (Nikon D500); imported and updated event/place/face etc; all working fine. Days later got an upgrade iPhoto message - dutifully did so. Next time opened iPhoto got message to upgrade database - did so. I think there was a message reporting that this was necessary to secure the database; but I was not really concentrating on this merely assuming that my "new" software would not create any problems (how wrong could I have been?!)
RESULT?
- lost ALL place/face details;
- photos still grouped as Events folder but only with with the old camera date format.
- "Albums" directory with titles from old iPhoto version on G4 machine re-appeared!
- In Finder file-path from root Pictures>iPhoto>Library>[subdirectories by year etc] replaced by a single iPhotodatabase that can only be accessed by opening using iPhoto
- iPhoto created a "recovered photos" subfolder in "albums".
I also notice that the Browse facility used to attach photos in Mail is also rendered useless - clicking one photo fails to attach a photo; i can click and drag one photo into an e-mail; but this goes into the e-mail body rather than as an attached item.
Any suggestions that allow me to recover the information so painstakingly entered will be useful.
I notice a lot of comments suggesting problems with iPhoto 8.1.1 - but I cannot see anything on the site similar to my problem - is this something that Apple are aware of and working on?
SteveWelcome to the Apple Discussions.
Lets clear some things up first:
In Finder file-path from root Pictures>iPhoto>Library>subdirectories by year etc replaced by a single iPhotodatabase that can only be accessed by opening using iPhoto
This is normal. Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves. (See below for details on how to access your files)
I also notice that the Browse facility used to attach photos in Mail is also rendered useless - clicking one photo fails to attach a photo; i can click and drag one photo into an e-mail; but this goes into the e-mail body rather than as an attached item.
This is normal. That's how Mail works with Photos in an Email. Altering that is a matter for Mail. Elect to send Plain Text Emails. Note that how the email looks on your Mac has very little bearing on how it will appear on the receivers machine. It's pretty much 100% dependent on the setting on their email client.
As to the missing Faces/Places etc. This sounds like a damaged database file:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Failing that, restore from your back up.
As promised:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.

Want to display a date in column heading.
Hi all,
Will be thankful, if anyone can tell me how to solve one of the issue i am facing in webi variable display.
In universe, i am creating one prompt for date and user will enter the desired date, and with respect to that date, the previous date and previous month last working date will come. In my Webi report , i have 3 dates and one measure(Quantity) with other dimensions like Product and Subproduct.
I have one cross table in which in want to show the 3 dates as Column heading, Product as row heading and Quantity(measure) in the table body. I have one more dimension as Area... which i want to show in horizontal way, for each Area, i want to show prompted date, previous date and previous month last date. I have created 3 variables....
1. Current date = Max(date) In Report
2. Previous date = Min(date) In Report
3. Previous Month last day = (date) where (Rank = 2) ForEach(date)
By this way, I am able to show Current date and Previous Month last day in column heading, but not Previous day. Will appreciate if anyone can help me on the issue. let me know if any other information is required.
Thanks
Archit SarwalHi,
The previous date is the previous business day, it can be dynamic. And previous month's last day is last business day, it can also be dynamic. And Previous daye can also be previous month's last business day in one of the scenerio.
Actually i am using 3 filters with prompts (common prompt) in universe side. User will enter the date and corrosponding previous business day and previous month's last business day will come. 3 filters are:
1. Current_Day = @prompt('Enter Date(YYYYMMDD)','A',,Mono,Free,Persistent)
2. Previous_Day = (SELECT TOP 1 Date from [TableName] where Date < @prompt('Enter Date(YYYYMMDD)','A',,Mono,Free,Persistent) Order By Date Desc)
3. Prior_Month last Day = (SELECT TOP 1 Date from [TableName] T where Month(T.Date) = Month(DateAdd(mm,-1,@prompt('Enter Date(YYYYMMDD)','A',,Mono,Free,Persistent))) Order By T.Date Desc)
Dates are coming correct from Universe. In Webi, i have created variables...
CurrentDate = max([Date]) In Report
LastDate = Min([Date]) In Report
PriorDate = [(Date]) where ([Rank]=2) ForEach ([Date])
I have calculated Rank for Date, and Rank 2 shows the Prior Date. Also, i have Entity, and want to show these dates for each entity along with 2 -3 more columns that depends on these 3 dates values. I am attaching the screenshot for the sample.
Thanks

How to get data with out having any date/timestamp columns by year wise
hi,
how can i select years wise rows from tables,if that have not any date/timestamp column.Well Govind it quite depends on what is the data type of that column and the format in which it is stored.
If the data type is varchar2/varchar and all the values are in a uniform format then there is no problem. All you need to use is the to_date function to convert the supplied strings to default date format and then use to_char function to only extract the YY or YYYY or RR or RRRR aspect of the data.
For example: If the column is called 'hire_date' and it's data type is varchar2 and the entries in this column are all in a uniform format, say month,date,year like January,12,1999. What you need to do is convert this string to a default date value using to_date function, like to_date(hire_date,'format_model') In the format model mention the format of the hire_date string. The out put of this function can be fed into to_char to extract the year, like to_char(output_of_to_date,'YYYY')
I hope you got what I meant. Let me know if it was of any use. -
Display last 12 months data in column chart
Hi All,
I have one dashbord requirement in list box i have (example:): "oct-11" i need to display previous 12 mnth data in column chart anybody help in excel formula how to display last 12 mnths based on list box selection.
example: if i select oct-11 from list box i need to display in chart like
nov-10 dec-10 nov-10...................................oct-11
please provide how to write in logic in excelHi Shankar,
Try this formula in excel : DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1)-1,DAY(A1))
A1 will be your cell which is the destination of your List box. & then drag it till 12 months.
If you are not having day from your list box then manually enter 1 in any cell and map that cell in place of A1 for day.

Find Sum of grouped events by date
I'm using Report Builder 10.50.2500.0
I've been trying to do this for awhile and have run out of ideas to try. I think it's a simple solution but I can't figure it out.
I have a database that is used for events. A booking can have several different events associated with it, even on the same day at different times. The events can be classified as breakfast, lunch or dinner events.
The report is grouped by type of event, then by event date (not datetime, the overall date), then grouped by booking.
Basically, I need the sum the total attendance of each breakfast, lunch, and dinner event by date and by booking.
For breakfast events I have this code on the Event Classification group row:
=iif(Fields!EventClassification.Value = "Breakfast",SUM(Fields!CurrentAttendance.Value),0) and the same for lunch and dinner. This works except when when there is more than one event per day.
For example, on 6/11/13 there is one lunch event and one dinner event. The report shows
Date
EventName
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
6/11/13
EventName
0
50
0
6/11/13
EventName
0
0
50
When what I want is:
Date
EventName
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
6/11/13
EventName
0
50
50
Any ideas? I've tried using group variables and passing to a report variable and acting on that but that didn't work out properly.Hi Jmelinda,
In order to achieve your requirement, we can refer to the following steps:
In the Row Groups pane, right-click the Details group to add a parent group grouped by Date field.
Right-click the Date group to add a parent group grouped by Date field.
Right-click the Date group to add a total row after the group.
Delete the second and third columns with “Delete columns only” option for Date field.
Type the expression below to the total row for Breakfast column, and the same for lunch and dinner:
=sum(iif(Fields!EventClassification.Value = "Breakfast", Fields!CurrentAttendance.Value, 0))
Set the visibility of second row to Hide.
The following screenshot is for your reference:
If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

Place Holder Formula column in reports doing problem
Hi
I am working on some existing reports where there are many palceholders formula coloumns using no return values and they are blank and giving me errors
can anybody tell me what should i write on that place holder formula columns for the return values
should i write return 0 fro number and return null for char
or any other values from some package or field
please guide me
Thanks
Junaidpalceholders formula coloumns Are they placeholder Items or formula items ? As you say they are missing return values i would guess its formula-items.
should i write return 0 fro number and return null for char In general, formual items should return some meaningful value depending on the requirement behind the report, if they do not:
Are they used somewhere in the report ? If not, delete them instead of returning some useless value. If they are used, you're up to the requirement again and have to check whats the sense behind it. -
Hi,
Summary: I cannot get my DataGrid binding with XML data.
Specifically, I cannot bind a DataGridColumn with a child of a
child using the dataField property. However, I can bind with a
direct child.
I'm currently building an application where I retrieve data
from a XML database and contact it through posting a XQuery to the
database. I set the resultFormat of my HTTPServer to "e4x".
quote:
<mx:HTTPService id="searchRequest" url="
http://localhost:8080/exist/rest/db/"
contentType="application/xml" useProxy="false"
method="POST" resultFormat="e4x" />
I receive this data:
quote:
<exist:result exist:hits="1" exist:start="1"
exist:count="1" xmlns:exist="
http://exist.sourceforge.net/NS/exist">
<schedule>
<tournament>
<sport>Testing Our DTD</sport>

<competitor>
<cname>sdgs</cname>
<score>3</score>

<location>

<state>CA</state>
<country>USA</country>
<stadium>Test Stadium, OPTIONAL</stadium>
</location>
<tv>SVN</tv>
<description>Basic testing...</description>
</match>
</tournament>
</schedule>
</exist:result>
I receive the data fine however, I cannot nested
elements of the XML nodes I retrieve. Here is my data grid.
quote:
<mx:DataGrid id="grid" width="446" height="100%"
dataProvider="{searchRequest.lastResult.schedule.tournament.match}"
enabled="true">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Tournament" />
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Match Date"
dataField="mdate" />
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Sport" />
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="City"
dataField="location.city"/>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="State"
dataField="location.state"/>
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
The 'mdate' shows up however, 'location.city'
and 'location.state' do not. I am not sure how the dataField works.
Does it get the 'current' node and allow me to drill down in the
XML node?
I will note that I can get it working with a labelFunction
and an ItemRenderer. I feel that using either of those methods for
this is a bit verbose.The default DGColumn picks up the property value by doing
data[dataField]. Due to this the nested value would not be picked
up.
By extending DGColumn and overriding the itemToLabel function
it is possible to get the desired functionality by adding code to
detect "field1.field2" kind of dataField value and returning the
nested value.
This custom DGColumn can be used whererever the functionality
is desired. -
Summing Selected Rows in Column Depending on Value in Another Column
I'd like to sum only the values in selected rows in a given column depending on the value of another column in the same row. For example, suppose I have a table (please disregard the underscores, needed for correct alignment):
___A____B____C___D
1__5___10___15___0
2_20___25___30___1
3_35___40___45___1
4_50___55___60___0
5__sum(D=1)
In cell B5, I'd like to compute the sum of only rows in column B for which the value of the corresponding column D is 1. In this case B5 would be 65.
How can I do this using functions? Is it possible to do it for a variable range of rows without specifying each row individually?
Thanks,
DaveYou should place your formula to other collumn then calculated ones or in another table. You will be able to calculate whole collumns with: =SUMIF(D;“=1”;B)
Formula for your example is: =SUMIF(D1:D4;“=1”;B1:B4)

Extraction and loading of Training and Event Management data (0HR_PE_1)
hello,
I've got the following doubt:
before BI 7.0 release, extractor 0HR_PE_1 extracts event data (eventid, attendee id, calday,...) but if you load straight to cube 0PE_C01, as Calendar year/month needs a reference date (for example, event start date), you'll get total duration of event in hours or days refered to event star date.
So in a query filtered by month, you get total duration of an event that starts in the filtered month but it couldn`t end until few months later o year later, so you don´t get appropiate information.
Example:
Event calday Hours
10004377 20081120 500 but from event_attr event end date is 20090410.
In a query filtered by 200811 you get total duration time (500 hours when in 200811 event hours have been 20) or if you filter by any month of 2009 you don´t get information of duration of that event.
I had to create a copy of standar cube (without calday, only Calendar year/month, Calendar year in time dimension) and disaggrate data creating as many entries for an event as months lasts and adjust calculation of ratios duration of event (duration of event in each month/ total duration of event).
The question is: Is there any improvement or change on business content in BI 7.0 to treat Training and Event Management data? Has anybody had to deal with that?
Thank you very much.
IRBHi,
TEM data is stored in HRP tables.
You can load the catalog by creating LSMWs for objects Business event group (L), Business event types (D), Locations (F), Organizers (U) as per requirement.
LSMW for tcode PP01 can be used to create these objects.
To create Business Events (E) you can create LSMW for PV10/PV11.
To book attendee create LSMW for tcode PV08 as here you can specify the actual business event ID which reduces ambiguity.
tcode PV12 to firmly book events
tcode PV15 to follow up
Hope this helps.

Photos.
They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment) one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
How can I copy
the whole library still in "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
ThanksUPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.
Thanks, Sean.
