Dynamic date in Digital Signature

I am looking for a method to add a custom dynamic date field in a digital signature or modify the location and format of the Date field that is already included in the Digital ID Appearance.  We are not interested in using a dynamic stamp, if we can avoid it.  We are interested in the extra layer of security that the "Sign & Certify" process provides.
We have a signature box on a Construction Title Sheet that has the Date field below the Signature field and I have the custom image created and would like to add a dynamic date that is applied when I sign the document.  I tried a javascript in the same method that you would use in a dynamic stamp but it is not working.
Can anyone lend some assistance?
Thanks in advance!

No, I am not adding blank signature fields to a PDF.  Well..  at least, that wasn't what I was intending when I posed the question.
I have a PDF that is created using a piece of CADD software that is the Title Sheet to a set of plans.   Right now, all of the information on that title sheet is filled out using the CADD software.  Project title, contract number, milepoint limits, table of contents, Federal Aid number, an image showing a general location of the project on a map, etc... Once that PDF is created, we want to be able to distribute it to up to 12 people for Digital Signatures.  Not knowing the exact difference between a Certifying Signature and Approval Signature, we want to be able to use the Sign & Certify process, NOT the Custom Stamp.
I was hoping there would not be a need for the designers/engineers to have to manually add the Date and Signature fields for each of the 12 blocks for every title sheet they create (some might have to create up to 8 or 10 different title sheets with differing information a month).
The other route we could go would be a drastic change to how we create the Title Sheets.  We would almost have to turn it into a form and enter the information on the title sheet in Adobe as opposed to using our CADD program to complete the information.  The "background" image would be the title sheet with a whole bunch of fields that need to be filled out, along with image fields and signature fields that automatically fill specific date fields, similar to another post I was reading earlier today. That change in business practice would be hard to force these people to accept, I'm afraid.
So, what I was hoping for was to use the Sign & Certify > Place Signature process and have them place a custom signature file using their Digital ID and have that file contain a dynamic date field that is automatically populated similar to how a dynamic stamp in the Commenting tools work.
It doesn't seem like that is possible though, unfortunately.
By the way, I really appreciate the time you are taking to help me through this.

    Hi
    You can use TDMS file format to save the data. I have attached a reference Vi.
    On button click you can log the data or remove the case structure and continuous log the complete acquisition data.

  • Dynamic PDFs with Digital Signatures?

    LCD 9 – Acrobat 9 standard/Pro
    Looking for the definitive answer on this one.  My PDFs have a need to be both dynamic and use multiple digital signatures.  For now I design as static with multi dig sig and deal with break-out forms and such via a portfolio.
    It would be nice if I could design a form that has both flowable sections (think dynamically added rows in a table using script, or even simple textfields that expand as you fill them up via flowed content areas) and these digital signatures.  As soon as I make that PDF dynamic the signatures are immediately invalidated as the form shows changes.
    Is there any workaround to this?  Some of the process I have to design for need flowed fields, and all require digital signatures on the form.  We use Entrust as the security for dig sig - and that will not change so cannot use any inherent Adobe signature security methods.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
    Yes, the file was created for Acrobat 10, but other than the warning you see on file open it will behave the same way in 9.x as it does in 10. However that said, you don't want to look at the file in Acrobat because you can't edit it or see the layout there. You need to view the file in LiveCycle Designer which gets installed along with Acrobat, and when you do get the file open in Designer it won't complain. Once you get the file open in Acrobat select the Forms > Edit Form in Designer menu item and that's where you can see the properties used to get page flow to work.
    I've attached another copy without any data that won't complain when you open it in Acrobat. It is for all intents and purposes the same file, the only reason there are fewer pages is due to the lack of data in the table.

  • Dynamic xfa form - digital signature becomes invalid

    Greetings forum,
    I have question regarding dynamic xfa forms and hope, that you can help me.
    I filled a pdf form based on a dynamic xfa form (with extended rights for Reader user) using iText. When the content of the PDF is changed, the digital signature becomes unvalid, so that the rights are no longer vaild.
    Therefore Adobe Reader (9.0) does not save the PDF. I get the following error message:
    "This document contained certain rights to enable special features in  Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are  no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
    I tried the following workaround with itext:
    PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, new FileOutputStream(RESULT), '\0', true);
    (http://1t3xt.info/tutorials/faq.php?branch=faq.itext&node=enabled_form),
    but I doesn't seem to work.
    As a result, the rights are valid but the content of the PDF wasn't changed.
    Is there any workaround for that or does it only work static xfa forms/acroforms?
    Many thanks for you support!
    Irina2000

    Sounds like you tried to fill in a form using Acrobat without the form feature use. Actually iText from what I can see is not using Acrobat, but a third party product. To fill in the form, you simply use the hand tool to move over a form field where the tool will change to an Ibeam or similar pointer tool. Select the field and type in the data. That should not make any changes to the PDF in the sense that has been stated. I have no clue where iText comes into the picture.

  • Trigger a Signature Date when Digital Signature Field is Signed

    I'm looking for a way to have a date field populate when a digital signature field is signed on my Adobe Designer Form. The signature technology I'm using does not work seamlessly with Adobe LiveCycle Designer and is unable to add the date when the document is signed. So I was thinking I could call a function to add the date to the date field when the signature field is signed. I just dont know how to do it.
    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Here is some code that will allow you to check the signature field:
    // check to see if Claimant signature field is signed.
    var oSOM = claimsign.somExpression;  // Returns the full SOM expression i.e. xfa[0].form[0].form1[0]...
    var truncSOM = oSOM.substring(15); // Truncating 'xfa[0].form[0]' from SOM to get acroforms name of the field.
    var oState = event.target.getField(truncSOM).signatureValidate(); // Get the current field's signed state
    In this case the signature field is called claimsign. After running this code the variable oState will conatin a value ....if it is 0 then the field is not signed. So you can add code like this:
    if (oState == 0 ) {
         // signature field is not signed
         app.alert("You must sign the form before submitting")
    } else {
         //The signature field is signed
         go through your submission process code
    Hope that helps

  • A way to clear digital signatures with presence = "hidden"

    LCD 9, Dynamic forms using digital signatures, Reader 9x
    I discovered this by accident, so wondering if this is a design feature or a bug.
    I have a dynamic form and have sub-forms throughout it.  I create a flowed subform for my digital signature that has fields to collect information and then place a fixed subform inside that that actually contains the signature field.
    Page1 (flowed)
    - SignatureBlocks (subform - flowed)
                    - Field1 (textfield)
                    - Field2 (textfield)
                    -InitSig (subform - flowed)
                                    -Field3 (textfield)
                                    -Field 4(textfield)
                                                    -FixedSub (subform - fixed)
                                                                    -DigitalSig (signature field)
                    -ReviseSect1 (checkbox)
                    -CALCchkRevise (checkbox – calculated read only)
    DigitalSig locks down various fields in the form.
    My problem has always been that when the form goes to the next person for review there was no option to push the form back a state and allow the prior user to change info that was locked by DigitalSig.  Until I discovered this:
    If I place a checkbox (ReviseSect1) outside of “InitSig” subform and then run a calculation checkbox (CALCchkRevise) that sets the PRESENCE to “hidden” for InitSig if ReviseSect1 == 1, then toggle ReviseSect1 back to 0 my digital signature is cleared and thus all fields that were locked are now un-locked!
    CAR-1601-FM01.Section1.SignatureBlocks.CALCchkRevise::calculate - (JavaScript, client)
    if(ReviseSect1.rawValue == 1)
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "hidden";
    else
        SignatureBlocks.InitSig.presence = "visible";
    Is this a design feature or a bug?  I like it as I now can have a reviewer toggle the ReviseSect1 checkbox which erases the digital signature and thus opens all those locked fields back up for editing.  Before I push this throughout my form (which has many signatures and review cycles) I want to be sure this is not a fluke that will go away when Adobe pushes its 1,037th update for the week for Reader.  If you hide a subform that contains a digital signature then un-hide it is it the design feature of hidden/visible to clear the signature?  Or is this a bug that will be patched?

    A better way is to set two codes on the ReviseSect1 checkbox.  CLICK sets the subform invisible and also sets the value of the checkbox to 0 (so that the user does not come back to un-click it and wipe out the signature again).  Then put a MOUSE EXIT code that sets the subform to visible.  In that way the user clicks the box and the signature subform hides, erasing the signature and un-locking the fields.  As soon as they mouse out of the checkbox the subform with the signature becomes visible again.  Nice.

  • Digital Signature in Business to Business escenario

    Hi everybody.
    I have the next scenario BTB Idoc to File. The Receiver System is outside our net and I need to guarantee the integrity and the confidentiality of the data with digital signature.
    I have the next doubts:
    - How can I confiugure the File Adapter Channel? I need to use an existing module to encrypt the file or I had to implement my own module?
    - When the third party receive the encripted file, how does they decode the message?
    Regards and thank u so much

    Hi ,
    In my knowledge you need to configure the file adapter by selecting FTPS instead of FTP. The is no need of writing the extra modules. Just deploy the necessary certificates. Regarding this certificates contacts your basis. They will help you.

  • Possible to validate data entries during Digital Signature?

    I have a form that was built from scratch using Adobe LiveCycle  Designer ES 8.2. I also have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3.2. (WinXP)
    I  see numerous articles online related to validating user input prior to  data submission for an online form via a Submit button, however, I  am trying to figure out how to implement the same sort of data  validation during the signing of a particular digital signature field in an offline pdf form. Simply, I want to perform data validation during a digital  signature instead of when user presses Submit button.
    Here's my  use-case:
    1. Form Originator fills out a large number of data fields  and signs form via a CAC cert.
    2. Another person will review,  possibly edit/add data, and sign another signature block with CAC.
    3.  Then there is one more final CAC signature on the form before it is  completed and then emailed to the right folks for processing.
    4. I  would like to be able to enforce the population of several Mandatory  data fields (at least one Radio button and one text input, possibly  others) before the 3rd signature can be applied to the document.
    Again, I  need to emphasize this is all happening in an offline form, no data  submission or database back-end. Also, everything with the digital  signatures (and locking up fields afterword) works totally fine, just interested  in adding Data Validation capability during Digital Signature.
    I am in no way a javascript expert, but I can  probably learn from a good example. Any help or guidance is very much appreciated. Thanks...

    If you are using SignatureField in the form then you will get two events preSign and postSign which you can use to validate the field input just like you do with a Submit button.
    Thanks

  • Digital Signatures and date fields

    I have a form with digital signatures.  I understand that the digital signatures have a date on them but until we are fully electronic with the form some users may still print sign and date.  With that said we will have a date field next to the signatures.  Is there anyway to default the date field to whatever date the form was signed - to tie them together some way?  If not is there anyway to make the date field not be less than today's date?  That it can't be post dated?  Thanks!
    Jodi

    Check the Digital Signature status, if it is in signed state populate the date field with date.
    But problem is it will show the current system date, may be user can change their pc/laptop dates.
    Please check the attached sample. Script written on change event of Digital Signature field.

  • Dynamic digital signature appearance

    I searched but it seems like the subject hasn't been treated.
    Ok, I've read "Digital Signature Appearance" by Adobe, and find out how to put my own image when displaying digital signatures.
    Looking at some tutorial from the iText authors, I saw that it is possible to specify different images to display on the signature validation
    status.
    This is a very cool feature, but unfortunately it is not documented at all in Adobe's documents... (I had to found a patent description document
    to get more info)
    Here is what I've discovered: the signature appearance is organized in several layers (4 defined by Adobe, the others by the document producer),
    painted sequencially when showing the document.
    What I'm looking for is the way to the various layers are used: one may be used when the signature validation status is unknown, another when
    the validation was successful and a last when it failed.
    For now, all my layers are painted, no matter of the signature validation.
    (description in "Dynamic preview of electronic signature" is on page 9)

    The multiple-layer model for digital signature appearances in PDF was deprecated and is no longer part of the ISO standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1).  The signature appearance is a STATIC thing - as it should be - and can not be changed "on the fly" by the content of the PDF.

  • Can Acrobat auto populate a date field upon digital signature of a form?

    We use several fillable forms with digital ID signature fields.  A business rule requires a date field next to the signature field.  Is it possible to define the date field to auto populate once the user signs the form?  I can't check this in Acrobat since I only have the reader.

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes, but of course you'll need to get Acrobat to edit the PDF file.
    Generically, here is what  you are looking to do:
    Open the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    Select the Signed tab
    Select the This script executes when the field is signed radio button
    Click the Edit button
    Add the code snippet below to the JavaScript editor
    Click the OK button on the JavaScript editor
    Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    // JavaScript code to add the date at signing time
        var currentTime = new Date()
        var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1
        var day = currentTime.getDate()
        var year = currentTime.getFullYear()
        var signingTime = day +"/"+month+"/"+year  //Modify into your preferred format
        var f = this.getField("Text1");  //Modify the field name as necessary
        f.value = signingTime;
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • Dynamically assigning digital signature strategy

    Hi Experts,
      I have a requirement where I need to dynamically assign different signature strategy to document approval based on the number of approvers.
    In our case for the same document based on the level of changes number of approvers might be different ( 3 - 12). We are planning to achive this by allowing document owners to select the approver using a approval workflow
    I also know that there is a limition of 8 approver slots on the default signature strategy.
    Please advise what is the best strategy in this case.
    Thank You

  • Internal+External Data In One Digital Signature

    Is it possible to generate a single digital signature for both external data (a file) and internal data (XML metadata relevant to the file)? From the Java Digital Signature API documentation, it would appear that "detached" can handle external data OR internal "sibling" data but not both. And it would appear that both "enveloping" and "enveloped" are strictly internal. If the answer is "yes", a link to sample code would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, you just have to create more than one Reference when generating the signature.
    One of the references should point to the external file (probably using a file URI) and the
    other reference URI should point to the internal data.

    Hello
    As possible create electronic-digital signature for data, referred through HTTP form internet explorer?
    Thank you very much for your support.

    George,
    Thank you for your submission.  It was helpful. This allowed me to create the signature block without having to place my own digital signature in the block.  However, when I send it to my client (who has Adobe Reader but not Acrobat) she is unable to input her digital signature … I’m now half-way there but I continue to pursue a solution.
