Dynamic Page Parameter Limitations

Parameters (bind variables) do not seem to be equivalent to string literals when passed to other procedures.
Try this:
1)create dynamic page
2)make the contents call a known function [oracle]begin htp.print(portal30.wwsec_api.id('portal30')); end;[oracle]
3)run successfully
Now try this:
1) change the literal 'portal30' to a dynamic param (:usr)
2) run from the customize link entering portal30 for usr
3) unsuccessful
Why isn't the bind variable style parameter equivalent to a string literal when it is forwarded?

Could someone see if this works for them - it takes just a moment. I'm really perplexed. When I pass the bind variable to dbms output, it looks right.

hi all!
my goal is to develop a portal page , with a naviagtion region on the left side (this is a dynamic page in which links are defined) and on the right side there should be the main region (also a dynamic page , with parameter input). Now, it should be possible to pass different parameters to the main region dynamic page, by clicking on the different links in the menu region. Each link should pass an other parameter to the main dynamic page. How is that possible ? (using as10g)

Basicly each space has their own navigation model. I don't know if it's possible to share navigation models from one space to another...

Pass parameter from dynamic page to form

I have a report that uses a link to pass a parameter (projno) to a dynamic page. This dynamic page calls a procedure which, using the projno, pulls information from four tables. Depending on who the user is and what phase the project is in, each heading can be a link to a form so that the proper user can update the project. For instance, the projetc manager can update the progress table during phases 2-9. So I want the Progress Heading to be a link to a form so that the project manager can update the progress for a specific project number. I tried to put the link in the procedure like this:

when I use :projno I get a "bad bind variable" error. But really, I don't think that's the problem. Using the code in my last message, I can mouseover the link and see the correct information:

Passing parameter to a dynamic page portlet

We need to create a drill-down report using pl/sql, but it's not working when we passed a parameter. We did the following:
1. Create a package and a store procedure.
2. The store procedure creates the report and the look-and-feel of the report.
3. Create a dynamic page with the following code:

4. Set the parameter to "public" in the "customization form display option".
5. Create a page group and a page.
6. Clicked on properties of page and then clicked on the parameter tab.
7. Added a parameter named "p_processor_code"
8. We also added the portlet parameter under the "portlet parameter values" and set the parameter to be a page parameter and select the name of the parameter and click OK.
9. Launch the URL: ttp://iasdev01.bftg.com:7782/pls/portal/url/page/PG_GRP_DEVELOPMENT/PG_OPS_DETAIL_PROCESSOR?p_processor_code=DUBOIS.
10. When we tried to launch the application we get an empty report(doesn't execute the parameter).
11. Edit the page and went into layout mode.
12. Click on the "edit default" of the dynamic page portlet and put the value of the parameter and it works without any problems.
I don't understand why it doesn't take the parameter with the page url. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had more luck with PL/SQL items. Try something like this:

Dynamic lov on a apex page parameter form

I'm trying to create a dynamic lov on a apex page parameter form. I read another post to look at metalink note. 292521. I asked our DBA to review the note but he claims he can't find the article. he's also been unable to find the last 2 metalink requests i've made. can someone verify metalink note 292521 exists so i can inform the DBA?

Problem calling Procedure with parameter from Dynamic Page

I received an error saying the Page not found
here's how to reproduce the error.
1. Create procedure in portal30 schema.
Create or Replace PROCEDURE PORTAL30.ADD_TWO_VALUES

However when I subsitute "ADD_TWO_VALUES(:v_one,:v_two, v_total);" in the dynamic page for "ADD_TWO_VALUES(3,2, v_total);", it runs just fine.
What's wrong here? Can I not use a parameter from a dynamic page and call a procedure with it? Help is needed urgently and will be greatly appreciated.

How to create a dynamic page from a parameter table at runtime?

I have a table which has the information of item names,types,default values of an input form. Is it possible to create a dynamic page at runtime from these parameters? I saw htmldb_item but what i need is something like attaching athis input form to a dynamic sql with htmldb_item.

I can guess that it is not
exactly possible since I looked at the forums and documantation etc. but

t". But this is a very common need and I thought that there must be at least a workaround?

In a dynamic page how to share variable between PL/SQL and javascript

For example, my dynamic page contains such PL/SQL codes:

The variable 'info' and '_row_id' are correct, however the two HTP. sentence do not work. What's the problem?
What I want to do is to show all the records in TABLE A in a page. And at the end of each line (record), there' re a 'delete' and a 'update' button to let user operate on this record. Is this possible? I know form can do delete an update, but it can not show all the records in a page like what report does. Besides dynamic page, is there any other better choice? Report can do it?
One more question. In a report, I employed link on one field to a second report. It works well. But I want to open the second report in a new window when the link is click. Is this possible?

The code written by you is insufficient for the funtionality you are trying to achieve. Below is a method to achieve the same.
Note: Used standard scott.emp table for the example which is located in my db provider schema.
Do the below modifications as per your local configuration
xxxxx -> Replace it with your Portal schema
yyyyy -> Replace it with your db provider schema
<<module_id_of_form>> -> Replace with the module id of form created in step 1 & 2.
First and foremost... oracle does not allows variables starting with '_'. So if you want to use it you have to place it in double quotes ("")
rowid -> illegal
"_row_id" -> legal.
However, I will advice you not to use variable names starting with "_".
Now lets get started...
1. Create a form on the table you are using in the dynamic page. Just have the update button. Remove the other buttons.
2. Get the module id of this form. Instruction for getting the module id:
a) Right-click on the form's run link and copy the shortcut
b) Get the value of p_moduleid parameter. This is your module id.
3. Create a procedure "save_action_details" in your db provider schema. This procedure will accomplish the delete operation on the record.

Explaination: The above procedure creates a session and keeps the rowid and action in the session. This information is used by the below dynamic form to perform the necessary action. In our exampl, the action is always going to be delete so you may go ahead and hard code it, else leave it as it is.
4. Grant execute privilege on the procedure "save_action_details" to public.

Explaination: The session information (rowid and action) stored by "save_action_details" procedure is retrieved by the dynamic page and is used to delete the record.
6. Once you are through with the above steps, test it by placing the above "dynamic page" portlet on a page.
a) When you click on delete button the record gets deleted and the automatically refreshed page will not show the deleted record.
b) On clicking update button, a form will appear. do the necessary modifications in data and click update. the data in the form gets updated. Once you close the form the dynamic page gets refreshed automatically and it will show you the updated information.

Using .js file in dynamic page

In 9.02 i created a portal dynamic page. I would like to include .js file (overlib.js). Can you do this?
I have tried using the "src=" but it did not work.
If I try to include the .js code directly in the dynamic page, I get an error. I assume it is a size limitation.

How do I pass a Page Parameter from one page to the next page?
I have an omniportlet - SQL portlet defined, where one of the items is a link. I want one of the columns to be a hyperlink to a detail page. So I have to figure out 2 things:
- how do I dynamically create the hyperlink
- how do I catch the parameter value on the detail page?

Two things you may want to look at --
1) The URL you indicate below while accurate is not considered a "durable" URL and could change. In fact it does change in the 10.1.4 portal version and will also be different across environments (dev, test, production ...) . If you look at your on-line portal help, do a search under "direct access URL", it has a decent write-up on how to do exactly that. In general on pre 10.1.4, it is http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/pls/<dad>/url/page/<pagegroupname>/<objectname> such as http://portal.mycompany.com/pls/portal/url/page/mypagegroup/mypage/mysubpage. This changes slightly in 10.1.4.
2) For the receiving page to receive the parameter, it also needs to have a page parameter setup on it. If you set it up under the same name it should work. Also, in your example below, the ? in front of the parameter name ##DBCOLUM## should be a &. (? is used for the 1st parameter on a page _pageid in this case, and & is used for all other paramters)

Problem with a Link calling a dynamic page

I wanted to create a link calling to a dynamic page. This dynamic page displays a PDF depending on the parameter, the thing here is that I don't know how to set the bind variables or more likely how to say that the value of those variables is going to come from the link in which the dynamic page it's been called.
I have my PL/SQL code where I have this bind variables
id_dep
id_tipo
and I went to the Customization Form Display Options button and there i made them public.
now on a page i created a link with the following structure, in order to call the dynamic page and send the parameters.

well what I meant was that, see in the manage page for the Dyn Page there are some options bellow, in the one that sais Customize you can test the page, and I put there the values for id_dep and id_tipo as *11* and *25* then run the page and it opens the PDF but when I click on the link you suggested

so I don't know what's going on.... if supposedly the dyn page is receiving the same values in different way, why it doesn't work with the link? -_-

URGENT: iframe in a dynamic page. Strange Problem.

I created a Dynamic Page which brings out the information of a Purchase Order (PO). (PO_REPORT)
Now the numer of items in a PO can vary from 1 to anything.... so I made a seperated report based on sql query (ITEM_DETAILS) which I can restrict to 5 records. Now I called this report using the <iframe> tag and passing the parameter value of the PO number to this report.
Until here everything is fine.
But the problem starts after this. I have a item code on this report (ITEM_DETAILS) which has an underlying link, clicking on which it runs the same report with an added parameter of Requisition number which again populates another iframe in the same dynamic page along with the Requistion details for that item.
But as the Dynamic page is loaded, the ITEM_DETAILS report's first 5 items are shown again. Even if I click on the item link on the 6th item (which will come on the next page) after the dynamic page is loaded, the first page will be loaded again.
Is there a way by which I can reach the same place after clicking on the link or if I click on the item code link only the contents of the requistion details frame are changed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Dynamic Page that calls DB procedure to update data gets PLS222 or PLS306

This seems a bit odd to me: I'm getting either "procedure no in scope" (when I call a procedure with the right args) or "wrong # or type of arguments" (when I call it with the wrong ones, so it is checking the procedure) in a dynamic page.<P>

I've tried specifying the schema, using a public synonym, and putting it in a package: same thing occurs, either I get pls 00222 not in scope when I call it with the right columns, or if I purposefully leave one out I get PLS 00306 wrong # or type of args.<P>
Any ideas?

Passing URL's as Parameters to Dynamic Pages

Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to pass a full URL (including protocol http:// or https://) to a dynamic page as a parameter. The problem is that when the customization form is submitted, the ":" character in the URL is changed to "*!" and the page won't display. I tried using "REPLACE" in my dynamic page PL/SQL code to change the "*!" back into a ":" but to no avail.

In my case, I am trying to add reports to Oracle Portal via the Worksheet Portlet but I want to build a select list that contains valid entries for discoverer to run through the portlet for a discoParameter value. Is there any better way to get the list of values other than running the report's query 2x (once in discoverer to load the report and once in portal to get the list of values)?

This is not a feature for Discoverer Portlet but as far as I can see Oracle Portal has Page Parameter Form that migh help in creating dynamic list of values. Please check in MetaLink :

Once the Parameter has been created, it can be used from Discoverer Portlet too :
