Dynamic quarters in Bex query

Hi guys,
I need to represent a dynamic structure of 5 quarter (actual quarter and 4 quarter ago) in a bex query.
The representation will be, depending of the entry variable:
Case 1:
*Scenary 1     *
Period: 12,11,10     4(Actual)     Year
Year: 2008          3(-1)     Year
          2(-2)     Year
          1(-3)     Year
          4(-4)     Year-1
*Scenary 2     *
*Case 2:     *
Period: 9,8,7     3(Actual)     Year
Year: 2008          2(-1)     Year
          1(-2)     Year
          4(-3)     Year-1
          3(-4)     Year-1
*Scenary 3               *
Case 3
Period: 6,5,4     2(Actual)     Year
Year: 2008          1(-1)     Year
          4(-2)     Year-1
          3(-3)     Year-1
          2(-4)     Year-1
Case 4
*Scenary 4     *
Period: 3,2,1     1(Actual)     Year
Year: 2008          4(-1)     Year-1
          3(-2)     Year-1
          2(-3)     Year-1
          1(-4)     Year-1
The infobject used is 0calquarter, don´t have the year associated in format (quarter.year) also this is in 0fiscyear; then my doubt is:
1. How to control the year movement? I need to create a exit for validate each quarter based in entry variable. It is possible generate in a customer exit variable the generic code for determine the 4 quarters different to actual quarter?
Thank you very much for your collaboration.

Jeysi

Hi Jeysi,
You are looking for offset variables. Please have a look at the following documentation for an example:

    Can anybody help me ?
    1) I use BEx query variables in WebI 3.1 .  But i can't understand how to order fields of selection screen in WebI reports
    2) How can i use Dynamic filtering with BEx query variables in WebI 3.1 ?
It's need that  list of second field on selection screen will be accoding to result of selection first field on selection screen and so on .
        Need i use BEx user-exit variables ?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    1)  Variable sequence isn't respected in XI3.1 - and can't be modified in OLAP.unv  (this enhancement exists in 4.0 )
    2)  Dynamic filtering?  Yes, Exit routines are the best way to go for this.

  • Dynamic Bookmark in Bex Query

    Hi Experts,
I have a requirement in which i need to provide the users with bookmarks for certain reports. However , i want that whenver the bookmark is executed it should display last 1 week's data .
I have achieved the above requirement in the report by having an I_STEP=1 User exit variable however when i create a bookmark for this report, the dynamic user exit dose not work because the selection screen is not executed in the bookmark.
Is there any way that i can get dynamic bookmark?

  • Bex Query which uses Dynamic columns to display actuals

    Hi Bex experts,
    I have a query issue/question.
I currently have a Bex query which shows me the the planned values for each period, spanning 6 years into the future. My Key figure columns are defined as follows:
    Value type  = '020'
Version  = mandatory variable, entered at execution.
Posting period (FISCPER3)  = These columns are fixed values using periods 1 to 12 for each column.
Fiscal year (0FISCYEAR) = Each column contains SAP exit for current year, and using the offset +1, +2, +3, +4 etc, when I define the future years coulmns.
    Currency = fixed 'USD'.
Fiscal year variant = fixed 'Z4'
The above works fine for plan data.
I want to now include is:
Seperate 'Dynamic columns' to show only actuals for period ranges from period one to the previous period (or current period minus 1). Each period should have it's own column for actuals.
The dynamic actuals columns should be grouped together to the left of the plan columns.
Actuals are only for current year, so I will still use the SAP EXIT for current year in the column definition.
Example: If I am currently in period 10, the query should show me actuals from period 1 to period 9 in seperate columns, then continue to show me my plan values columns that I have in place already.
How can I construct these actuals columns in to my existing query. If you have possible screens shots.
Thanks, and maximum points will be alotted.

The way I have approached this you may not like as it involves quite a bit of coding
    12 CKFs
each CKF adds up 2 RKFs
    So 24 RKFs
    example Column 6 CKF
Adds Column 6 RKF Actual and Column 6 RKF Plan
Column 6 RKF Actual contains Actual version + key figure + Period variable column 6 Actual
Column 6 RKF Plan contains Plan version + key figure + Period Variable column 6 Plan
    Period variable column 6 Actual
is a cmod variable which reads the entered date
if the period of entered date is LE 6
then return period 6 into "Period variable column 6 Actual"
else put 0 into "Period variable column 6 Actual"
    Period variable column 6 Plan
is a cmod variable which reads the entered date
if the period of entered date is LE 6
then return period 0 into "Period variable column 6 Plan"
else put 6 into "Period variable column 6 Plan"
Now what happens is that if you enter period 6 in your selection screen all the Actuals of columns greater than 6 all have period 0 put into their selection so return 0 and all the columns less than or equal to 6 return the values for the fiscal period (ie column 1 gets period 1)
And in addition all the Plans columns return the value of their column ie for their period for those greater than 6 and for those less than 6 they all return 0
It's convulted - but you get the idea - and yes it works
There may be a better way to do it - and I am open to suggestions
(this does assume that NOTHING is posted to period 0 otherwise it won't work)

  • Dynamic Texts from Bex ( for Key Figures ) not coming to WEBI Query

    Hi Gurus,
We have a Query in BEx : Each  Key figure column text changes dynamically - Like based on Present month
it will Display Month +1 Month +2  up to Month +12.  Used  dynamic Text variables .
But when i created the universe and Webi report , i am missing the text in the column for Key figures .
How should i get the column text in Webi which is same as in Bex : Points will be awarded for helpful
    answers.
    Thanks
    Magge

    Hi,
text variables with replacement path are supported in BO4.0, see following document: SAP BusinessObjects BI4 - Supported BEx Query Elements
As an example after entering 2012 in the prompts window, the name of the corresponding key figure will dynamically change:
After refreshing and selecting 2013, the column name will update:
Im not sure though if this is the case with unv universe access to BEx queries.

  • Passing variables to a BEx query dynamically

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to pass values for variables dynamically to a Bex 7x query because we do not want to prompt any variable screen to the user. I tried few steps as suggested in SAPBEXsetVariables range but still have some questions unanswered. So request your thoughts on the same.
    Below procedure has been followed.
    1. Open Bex Analyzer
    2. Navigate to Bex Analyzer (menu) -> Design Toolbar -> Insert Button. This will switch on the Design Mode.
    3. Click on the button, select "Workbook-Specific Command" and click on next (Data provider need not be worried about at this point as it can be changed later also).
    4. Select "Process Variables" and click on Finish.
    5. One more window with an heading "Properties of Button" will be shown with fields like "Name of Button", "Range", "Button Text", "Command Range" and few other.
    6. On the right side of this window, list of Static Parameters can be created.
    7. As an example, i created below parameters
    CMD                         0          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    DATA_PROVIDER      0          DP_1
and created a range having below details and provided this range in "Command Range" field (in button properties)
    VAR_NAME                     0         #NAME1#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT            0          #VALUE#
    VAR_NAME_1                 0          #NAME2#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_1         0          #VALUE2#
    8. This DID NOT WORK for me. Actually nothing was happening when the button was pressed.
After some investigation, i figured out that i need to have one command like below
    CMD
              1
    SHOW_VARIABLE_SCREEN
Without this neither the variable screen was shown nor it read the parameter values from the excel range provided.
Once this was done, the input screen was shown and with the values that i provided in my excel range.
Here are my questions. Pls provide your valuable inputs.
    1. Why am i forced to have a command for "SHOW_VARIABLE_SCREEN"? Is this mandatory? problem with this is that user will always be shown a input screen which we don't want (in fact the very reason for this exercise is not to show the parameter screen but to supply values to it from the back end). Is there some setting that i need to do to get rid of this?
    2. The setup can read values for only  2 parameters. i mean when there is an additional variable, the program is not reading the 3rd parameter values (of course i updated the "command range").
    VAR_NAME                     0         #NAME1#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT            0          #VALUE#
    VAR_NAME_1                 0          #NAME2#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_1         0          #VALUE2#
    VAR_NAME_2                 0          #NAME3#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_2         0          #VALUE3#
Thank you. Looking for a sooner response.
    Lohith

    Hi All,
I figured out the mistake that i have done. Looks like the order of the commands is very important.
In my case, i had something like below
    CMD                         0          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    DATA_PROVIDER      0          DP_1
    SUBCMD                   0          VAR_SUBMIT
I should not have the PROCESS_VARIABLES as my first command. Instead should have DP_1 or the SUBCMD as first argument. So below order worked for me.
    DATA_PROVIDER      0          DP_1
    SUBCMD                   0          VAR_SUBMIT
    CMD                         0          PROCESS_VARIABLES
So, i don't need to have "SHOW_VARIABLE_SCREEN" command as i don't want to show the screen.
But my second question is still unanswered. Can you through some light on it?
    2. The setup can read values for only  2 parameters. i mean when there is an additional variable, the program is not reading the 3rd parameter values (of course i updated the "command range").
    VAR_NAME                     0         #NAME1#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT            0          #VALUE#
    VAR_NAME_1                 0          #NAME2#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_1         0          #VALUE2#
    VAR_NAME_2                 0          #NAME3#
    VAR_VALUE_EXT_2         0          #VALUE3#

  • Dynamic filter on time characteristics on OLAP SAP BEX query based universe

    Dear all,
I'm currently working on the integration between SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 and SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 FP 1.5 via integration kit.
I've built an OLAP universe on the top of a BW query based on a multiprovider that contains 10 infocubes.
Everything works fine but I need to create a filter in the OLAP universe that allows to restrict data by current date (e.g. using TIME characteristic of Infocube such as 0CALDAY or 0CALMONTH). From that filter we could start creating other conditions to compare data to different time periods.
I've already tried to use a SAP exit variable in  a BW query but this kind of object would restrict query data only by current date and for example it would be impossible to browse data by previous years (to bypass this problem we could use restricted key figures with different offsets but we have too many key figures in the query and the number of restrictions
    would rise exponentially).
In a relational DataBase we can do that using a "where condition" based on 'CURRENTDATE' (SQL DB2 syntax).
Now, we need to apply the same logic but translated in MDX syntax.
Is it possible to enter a dynamic filter in the OLAP universe or just fixed or promt values ?
    Any advise?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.
    M.

    Hi Ingo,
    1) My question is: "How can I have to manage variable in BEX queries and in the UNIVERSE in order to obtain the maximum flexibility to create reports with measures on actual day (for example) without asking the user to promt a value ?"
I want to use an unique BEX query to define an unique UNIVERSE. On this UNIVERSE I want to create many reports (actual day, previous day, and so on).
If I restrict 0CALDAY with an EXIT variable then shall I be able to create a different restrictions on the same Universe based on 0CALDAY ?
    2) Another question is:
Is it possible to insert an XML / MDX filter on the OLAP Universe with dynamic derivation of the system date ?
    For example:
    Instead of this:
    <FILTER KEY="[0FISCYEAR].[LEVEL01].[NAME]">
        <CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal">
            <CONSTANT CAPTION="Z12008"></CONSTANT>
        </CONDITION>
    </FILTER>
Is it possible to insert a tag with a dynamic function to derive the system date ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

  • How to make dynamic report heading in bex query

    Hi Experts,
i have a bex query for the following rows and columns.
Proj   WBS   NETWROK   ACTIVITY  are in Rows.
Scope  work      total work are in Columns.
now i have to    show  the report heading dynamically based on proj.
    HEADING1.                         PROJ TEXT
HEADIND2                       REPORT FROM    XXX  TO YYY   where XXX & YYY  are dates input by the user on selection screen.
Please help me how i can achieve this heading in BEX.
    Regards
    vikas

    Hi,
If you are using BEx analyzer :
On the top yo will find button say Insertnavigation pan, here you will get option to display the rows ( in your case Project) look for multiple options like tab dimension, display setting - explore it
If you are using BOBJ ANALYSIS, there also in display setting you have options to display variables, filters and even the characteristics.
    Thank-You.

  • Two problmes between  Crystal Reports 2008 and Bex Query

    Hi Gurus.
I have two problems with Crystal Reports 2008 when It obtains data from a Bex Query (SAP MDX query connection).
    1)     I have defined some Parameters Fields using the follow options:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Dynamic
    Value Options Level1:
                         Show on (Viewer) Panel :Editable
                          Prompt text: <text>
                          Sort Order: Ascending by value
Prompt With description Only : False
                          Optional Prompt: True
                          Allow multiple values: True
                          Allow discrete values: True
                          Allow range values: False
When I execute the report with the client of Crystal Reports 2008 (the developer tool), in the initial screen shows a list box where I can select the values from the left box and add it to the left box (as a usually filter). When the number of options (LOV) is more than  the maximum of the system, I have a input box bellow the list box, where I can insert any value (manually) and a button to insert it into the left box. When I publish the Report in the infoview, this filter is modified and the input box where I can introduce manually values is not showed and I can insert only the values showed in the list box, it causes that I can`t select a lot of values that is in the master data of SAP BW, because they arenu2019t listed in the list box.
There is any option to ability this option in the infoview.
    2)     My Bex query, have a date filter with variable in the restricted key figures, when I execute a Crystal Reports, the infoview (and the Crystal Reports 2008 designer) ask me 2 times the same date, first only the date and second the date and the rest of parameters (introduced in the report of Crystal Reports).
Why I need insert the date 2 times? How can I modify the Crystal Report for ask me only one time all the parameters?.
    Thanks.

    Hi Abhilash.
    Thank you for your information.
    1) Yes, the parameters are created in the Crystal Reports designer. I have created the parameters in the Crystal Report because I use the same Bex Query to create some Crystal Report, in other case, I will need create some Bex Query.
2)The Bex query has the date filters and I have created some filters in Crystal Reports designer, the date filter from the Bex query is created automatically in the Crystal Report Designer but I don't use it, I haven't created it anytime. I use my filters only in the record selection. The date filters from the Bex query is showed as Static, and I can`t delete it, if I modify the parameter to dynamic or static with values, at first step ask me again static without values and the second step of the report execution ask me the parameter as I have defined in Crystal Reports Designer, my parameters fields are dynamic. A lot of reports have subreport, but I have created one of them without subreport (to trial) and the Crystal Reports ask me the date filters at first execution, and when I insert the date filters, in the second step, ask me the date filters again and my parameters fields again.
    Thank you again.

  • Drill down ( Collapsible Row ) Report in BEx query designer ?

    Dear Friends!
I am supoosed to create a report drill down report for Purchasing History to be precise,  I know that we can have drill down feature using heirarchy but is it possible for Us to have PO & PO item heirarachy ? or any other way to do drill down reporting in SAP BEx Query designer ?
like my current report is : -
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
Now I am supposed to create a report  in which
    normal view
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | |> PO Number| .... ( keyfigures) | Payment |
drill down or collapsible view ( please consider the heading as data I am not talking about dynamically change of  headings ).
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | V PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
is there anyway to design the report in above mention manner ? you any input will be appreciated greatly.
    Thank you so much!
    Regards
    Naim

    Hi Naim,
usually we don't do the transactional data as hierarchy.  not sure the reason behind your requirement.
we can do one of the below :-
    1. To have the default view as
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
and then user can drill down on rest of the characteristics for detailed view later on.
    2. or if they don't want to drill down on characteristics;-
we can build 2 reports , one for header level information and then jump to second query for detailed information(item level) using RRI.
    first query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
    second query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant |  PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
Let us know if this works out?
    Regards,
    Sakthi.

  • Multi pass bursting of a Crystal report on business view with a bex query

In BO CMC, we have a group with a list of user.
The idea is to burst (via the multi pass bursting method) a Crystal report for this list of user with the constraint that this report should only contains data of the store linked to the user.
Our data comes from a SAP BI cube.
The link between a Store and a User comes from an other system.
We have build a bex query and use it as a data source of a Crystal Data Foundation.
In this Data Foundation we have an other table storing the user ID and the Store ID.
These 2 tables are linked in this Data Foundation on the Store ID.
Business element and Business View have also been created on top of this Data Foundation.
We have impletemented a filter in this Data Foundation to filter out data on the user id. This user id will be filled when bursting the report for all requested users thanks to this function :.
As a user is linked to one store, the data foundation will filter the data coming from the bex query and show only the data of the user's store.
We have build a crystal report using the business view created above as data source. We have made some test on a small amount of data and it works, data are correctly filter out and the reports shows only the data from one store.
But the problem is that we have a lot of stores (more than 600) and doing this way implies that the bex query will always return the data for all the stores as the filter will occurs in the data foundation and not on the bex query.
We need to find a way to make the bex query returning only the data of the store linked to the user for which we burst the report.
As we have more than 600 stores this was an idea to avoid managing more than 600 under BO groups or more than 600 different filters.
This solution do not work when the bex query result set is too large.
Does anyone has an idea on how to implement such "dynamic" filter in the bex query? The parameter is the user ID but the filter to be applied on the bex query is on the store ID.
We are under BO XI release 2, Crystal XI Release 2 and we have installed the BO release 2 integration kit for SAP

  • Labels in WAD disappers when I set exceptions in BEX query.

    Hi,
I have created a stabled bar in the WAD, based on a BEX Query. In each of the bars I have labels showing the values.
I need to show traffic lights colors in the bars, so I have made some exceptions in the BEX Query. It all works fine except that my labels disappears.
How can I show these labels at the same time as the traffic lights?
    Thanks in advance.
    Lennart

    Hi Yolanda,
it´s as you already figured out - 0FISCPER is the problem.
When you want to create new lines, there can not be a dynamic characteristic in the columns. Each column has to be defined with single values.
Try to create restricted key figures for the periods you need to show.
    regards
    Cornelia

  • Bex Query Exception Not Appearing In Bex Report

I have a created an exception in a Bex Query and built a report using the Bex Report Designer. But the exceptions that work fine in the query dont seem to work once I've embedded the query in a report. Is this right? is it not possible to use exceptions in a report or do I need to turn something on etc?
    Any help much apreciated.

    Hi Joel,
Pls refer the OSS # 331772 reg. this limitation. Exceptions if applied will not be dynamic in RD.
Report designer is a flat structure. You cannot collapse or expand the static columns. Hence, Conditions/Exceptions are not supported in Report Designer. You may try alternatively in WAD. It will surely work in WAD for formatted web based reports.
    Thanks,
    Arun Bala

  • Need the solution in the Bex Query level for a Business Requirement.

    Hi BI Experts,
I have a requirement at Bex Query level and the scenario is like this:
    Business Logic.
Right now am showing the Stocks falling in to time slot like 6-9 months and 10-12 months from the date of PKD in two columns B1 and B2 respectively.
And also calculating the stock selling price of B1 with 30 % discount and B2 with 50% discount.
In the above said discounts client may change the discount % in any future Quarters
Now the requirement is, if client needs to see the history of sales according to the declared Discount selling prices of stocks falling into B1 and B2 slots, he must get the values accordingly.
( Am using the Formulas for calculating the Discount % for the Stocks fall in to B1 and B2 slots)
    Business Example:
For Q4 2007 The discount for B1 Stocks is 35% and B2 Stocks is 60%.
For Q2 2008 The discount for B1 Stocks is 35% and B2 Stocks is 55%.
For Q3 2008 The discount for B1 Stocks is 30% and B2 Stocks is 50%.
For Q4 2008 The discount for B1 Stocks is 40% and B2 Stocks is 50%.
Now running report ( running in Q4 2008  at some date) if client needs to check the B1 and B2 stocks in Q4 2007 or Q3 2008 the values need to come with the calculation of repective % of disounts declared in that quarters along with the selling prices in that quarter.
This all should be done at query level nothing to do at Infoproviders level.
Is there any option like storing query data as a master data  and retrive it according to the selection to get the exact values of the respective % Discounts and time lines.
If It is not clear come up with questions for still more clarifications.
    Points are assured.
    Thanks in Advance,
    RK.

Who is defining the % discounts for periods/quaters?
Is this maintained in a custom table or externally in legacy/R3 system?
There are various ways to achieve the result. Variable exits can be used or virtual KF/char can be used but all depends on actual requirements.
    Cheers

  • Modifying the text "Result" and "Overall Result" in a BEx query output

    Hi,
    1) Is it possible to modify the text "Result", "Overall Result" which appears in the sub-total and grand total lines of BEx query output? I do not see any related setting the properties area of the object in BEx Query designer. Do I have to write some VB code or can I do something in Customer Exits?
Also my client wants that this text need to be made dynamic such as "Sub-Total for the month of Jan 2006".
I can use work book option and change the texts manually. But this is not meeting my clients requirement.
2)Is it possible to have dynamic title text for a BEx query?
We are on BW 3.5 & if any of you could provide / guidance to the above issue.
    Thanks,
    Venkatram

You will have to use VB Macros to change the text "Result" and "Overall Result", there is not settings in the query designer for the same.
You can have dynamic descriptions for queries using text variables like Expense Query for month of Jan 2006, if user selected Jan 2006.
    Thanks.
