Dynamic selectOneChoice component default value problem

Hi again,
I'm facing a big problem. I have created a selectOneChoice which is binded to a dynamic list:
<af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.managerId.inputValue}"
label="Manager" valign="middle"
binding="#{backing_searchDocuments.managersList}"
valuePassThru="true" immediate="false"
rendered="#{bindings.ListManagersIterator.estimatedRowCount > 1}">
<f:selectItems value="#{bindings.managerId.items}"/>
</af:selectOneChoice>
Binding is used to set the default value of the component:
public void setManagersList(CoreSelectOneChoice managersList) {
this.managersList = managersList;
BindingContainer bc = this.getBindings();
DCIteratorBinding dcIterBinding =
(DCIteratorBinding)bc.get("ListManagersIterator");
Row[] rwarray = dcIterBinding.getAllRowsInRange();
FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
Application app = ctx.getApplication();
ValueBinding bind = app.createValueBinding("#{backing_userBean.userName}");
Object o = bind.getValue(ctx);
if (rwarray != null) {
for (int i = 0; i < rwarray.length; i++) {
if (((String)rwarray.getAttribute("Manager")).equalsIgnoreCase((String)o)) {
this.managersList.setValue(i);
break;
Everything works fine until I press the link which redirects me to the same page where I am and then default value isn't shown.
Where could be the problem?

I've created a testcase replicating the same problem. The results showed that when using for example commandLink component redirecting to the same page default selected value is shown properly but if using commanMenuitem redirecting to the same page default value dissapears..
Where could be the problem?

  • How to make a default value by using dynamic actions

    Hi,
           I want to default a field nationality in infotype 0002 as a great britan, using dynamic actions but unable to go ahead. Any help regarding this really appreciate.
    Regards
    Niranjan

    Hi,
    I need some guidance around creating dynamic action with default value, Please guide me through.
    I am aware I can set default values for new infotype, but I need to set default value for same infotype, let me explain the scenario.
    Currently employee is on one pension scheme which is called NE1 and now we are moving this employee to CRESP Pension Scheme.
    When employee is in NE1, his IT0071 has got a opt in field with a flag on, when the same employee is moved from NE1 pension scheme to CRESP Pension scheme, his new IT0071 record should have the same opt in field with a flag on, I want it to set this flag automatically using dynamic action. I dont want to update this field manually, while moving from NE1 to CRESP.
    Currently the below dynamic  action is coded when employees are being moved form NE1 to CRESP, but now they will have a opt in flag which should appear automatically, What needs to be done to make this happen?
    Please let me know if I set default value for the Opt in field for the same infotype.
    . When employees are being moved from NE1 to CRESP pension scheme we currently use a dynamic action as show below:
    0071                      04      10      I        INS,0069
    0071                      04      20      W       P0069-BEGDA=P0071-BEGDA
    0071                      04      30      W       P0069-ENDDA=P0071-ENDDA
    0071                      06      1        F        DYNACT_PAE031(ZHRPROG016)
    Also if it is not possible via dynamic action could you please explain how to create it using user exit, I am not an ABAPer.
    Your help is very much appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

  • Dynamic variable in 11g rpd - character 'd' got appended to default value

    Hi All,
    We have recently upgraded to 11.1.1.6 version from obiee10g.
    We are facing an issue with default initializer in the dynamic variables in the RPD.
    For one of the dynamic variables XYZ_YEAR default value is '2013.0d' in 11g. In 10g for the same dynamic variable XYZ_YEAR default value is '2013'.
    As we are using this variable on the 11g dashboard the following error has been thrown -- A numeric value was expected (received "2013.0d")
    After the upgrade we are unable to do online changes to the RPD. That is another issue.
    So, coming back to the variable issue. I have taken a offline copy of the rpd and changed the default value of the variable to '2013.0'.
    And ported the offline rpd via EM. Initially, it seemed to be resolved. But, after sometime the dashboard got errored out with the same error.
    I went back to check the online rpd and saw the dynamic variable's default value as '2013.0d'
    I have tried making changes in offline rpd twice and ported the rpd via EM but the issue still persists.
    Thanks,
    Obul

    An easiy solution to this issue is to change the SQL for the initialization block to look like this:
    select cast(year as number (4,0)) from blah....
    The ,0 in the number specifier truncates any decimal data, and OBIEE then sees it as an integer type instead of decimal. Sorry, I posted this answer in another thread, but there seem to be quite a few threads about this issue.
    Hope it helps!

  • Not allows to assign default value to input field using values in datastore

    Hi Masters,
    Consider that I have one input field in a form. I should assign default value to it. I should assign to it, the value which i have stored in a datastore. When i run the application, if i give default value as 123 ,then it is working fine i.e., it is showing 123 in the textfield in form , but if i give the default value as STORE@ProductId, then it is not displaying that value in the form.
    Please help me out.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kaushik Sreeram

    Hi,
    i faced this problem and here's what i concluded:
    There's no way you can set default value for input field dynamicly, since the default value of input control is caculated only once (i think on initializing of the iView). The input control and the data store are initialized at the same time, STORE@productID is empty that time...
    If you don't need to recieve value through the input field you're trying to initialize, but just to display the value from the store - I suggest you try using another control - Expression Box. It's value is calculated continiously, just like the Label's, and you can refere to it later.

  • How to include a default value in Dynamic cascading prompt from 2nd Level.

    Hi,
      I use Command Object in 'Datbase Expert' to create 'Custom Tables'  and use these tables to fetch LoVs. I use Dynamic Cascading Prompts in the reports.  I have a peculiar requirement using DCP.
      There are Four Levels as in the Example:
      Continent
       Country
       State
       City
      In the Custom Table, requirement is to create an additinal row with '' that represents 'All Values selected' for that level starting from second.  and The default selection should be '' . I defined that '*' means 'All Vales Selected in the report' This si not a problem. But the problem how to show a default value in a Dynamic Cascading Prompt i.e. how we can make sure in an default value can be selected in DCP from Second Level?
    how can the examples 1,2,3 can be achieved detaisled below beacsuse we need to show a default value in Casacading Propmt
    Eg of Schedules with DCP:
    Schedule 1
      Continent: Europe
       Country: *
       State: *
        City:  *
      Schedule2:
       Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: *
         City: *
    Schedule 3:
        Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: Greater London
         City: *
    Schedule 4:
    Continent: Europe
       Country: England
        State: Greater London
         City: City of london

    You won't be able to have a true "default" value in the various cascading levels, since there aren't default values in a dynamic cascading parameter.  That being said, I've created a sample report in Crystal Reports 2008 that has a Command-driven DCP with '*' values for the 2nd and 3rd levels of my 3-tier DCP and have accounted for them in the record selection criteria.  You can find the sample here at https://www.box.net/shared/mav5qp337j

  • How to dynamically get default value from a table column

    Hi all,
    Here's my problem: Our front end application sends insert and update queries to a pl/sql package. I've got a procedure that gets a PL/SQL table with all the column names an values, a table-name and a primary key name and value. That procedure creates an insert or update statement. So far, so good.
    Now the problem: our front end doesn't know what the default value for a column is. So when a number field doesn't get a value in the front-end, it's inserted with a value '0' though is should ben NULL. My sollution for this is to know the default value of a column: when there's a default of '0', then the value that will be inserted is '0'. When there's no default value and the column can ben NULL, it'll be inserted as NULL. if the column has a not null constraint, a '0' will be inserted.
    Ofcourse I can get the default value from the system-views all_tab_columns or user_tab_columns, but our application is installed at some 100 clients, and has various database installations. Most of the times, the tables are in the same schema as our procedure that performs the insert or update, but sometimes some of the tables are in another schema (in the same database) and also sometimes some tables are stored in another database. In all these situations, a synonym for that table exists in the schema.
    Is there a api function or procedure that I can call to get the default value of a column? I looked at dbms_sql and dbms_metadata, but those packages don't give me that perticular information. if not, I'll stuck with the 'does table exists in schema' yes->use table, no query user_synonyms to look for the owner of the table (and database link) and query all_tab_columns to get the default value. Only this seems a bit overkill to me.
    I hope I'm clear enough? And please don't reply with "don't do inserts this way"! I know, this is not the most optimal sollution, but it does gives us a couple of advantages in our application...

    there is no way that I can think of, apart from what you have already discovered (i.e. views), where you can determine if a column has a defuault value defined against it.
    The other option is triggers, but I guess doing that across 600 tables would not be an option, and besides I stay clear of triggers.
    A different approach therefore, if you cannot pre-determine the data, is to consider a post problem handler, hence I suggested the use of an exception handler.
    The exception handler works regardless of whether the statement is dynamic or not.
    SQL> truncate table abc;
    Table truncated.
    SQL>
    SQL> declare
      2    NULLVAL exception;
      3    pragma exception_init(NULLVAL, -01400);
      4
      5  begin
      6
      7    begin
      8
      9      execute immediate 'insert into abc (y) values (1)';
    10
    11      exception
    12        when NULLVAL then
    13          -- handle the error
    14          execute immediate 'insert into abc (x,y) values (0,1)';
    15
    16    end;
    17
    18    commit;
    19
    20  end;
    21  /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL>
    SQL> select * from abc;
             X          Y

  • Setting default values in a php dynamic list

    I have a drop down list that is populated by a recordset consisting of two fields, company (a text field shown in the drop down list) and company_ID (an integer key )
    The default value for the field Company should be "unknown", and the form should not submit if the sleted value is "unknown"
    The selection once made is used to insert the value into  a new record, along with many others on the full form..
    The code is complicated by the fact that it also includes some java script code from a check form behaviour, shown in orange for completeness.
    How do I change the PHP code so that it shows the default value of "unknown" in the select box when run, instead of showing the last item in the companies list?
    Should be simple enough, but I am too close to see the solution.
            <td>
    <select name="Companies_ID" size="1" class="contclass" id="Companies_ID" >
              <%
    while (!compny.EOF) {
    %>
              <option value="<%=(compny.Fields.Item("ID").Value)%>" <%=((compny.Fields.Item("ID").Value == (compny.Fields.Item("ID").unknown))?"SELECTED":"")%> <?php if (!(strcmp("<%=(compny.Fields.Item(\"ID\").Value)%>", $row_rsCompany['ID']))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><%=(compny.Fields.Item("company").Value)%></option>
              <%
      compny.MoveNext();
    if (compny.CursorType > 0) {
      if (!compny.BOF) compny.MoveFirst();
    } else {
      compny.Requery();
    %>
    <?php
    do {
    ?>
              <option value="<?php echo $row_rsCompany['ID']?>"<?php if (!(strcmp($row_rsCompany['ID'], $row_rsCompany['ID']))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><?php echo $row_rsCompany['company']?></option>
              <?php
    } while ($row_rsCompany = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsCompany));
      $rows = mysql_num_rows($rsCompany);
      if($rows > 0) {
          mysql_data_seek($rsCompany, 0);
                $row_rsCompany = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsCompany);
    ?>
              </select>
              <input name="company" type="hidden" id="company" value="<?php echo $row_rsCompany['company']; ?>" /></td>
            <td>Select from list. If it does not exist, add a Company. </td>
          mysql_data_seek($rsTypes, 0);
                $row_rsTypes = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsTypes);
    ?>
              </select>
              <input name="company" type="hidden" id="company" value="<?php echo $row_rsCompany['company']; ?>" />

    Thanks Bregent - your comment made me think again, and now the problem does not exist - in fact it never really did.
    I did not explain it properly.
    The form that I am using has many different items on it, some of which are static and some that are not.
    All the static fields show the word "unknown" when the page loads.
    None of the dynamic fields do, but I would like them to.
    Here is a section of newly created code as a test. I first created a drop down list with a default of "unknown" and then dynamically populated it. This produced the following code:
    <form action="" method="get">
    <select name="testing" size="1">
      <option value="unknown" <?php if (!(strcmp("unknown", $row_Recordset1['ID']))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>unknown</option>
      <?php
    do {
    ?>
      <option value="<?php echo $row_Recordset1['ID']?>"<?php if (!(strcmp($row_Recordset1['ID'], $row_Recordset1['ID']))) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>><?php echo $row_Recordset1['type']?></option>
      <?php
    } while ($row_Recordset1 = mysql_fetch_assoc($Recordset1));
      $rows = mysql_num_rows($Recordset1);
      if($rows > 0) {
          mysql_data_seek($Recordset1, 0);
          $row_Recordset1 = mysql_fetch_assoc($Recordset1);
    ?>
    </select>
    </form>
    When I am in split view, all I see is a box with "unknown" in it, which is what I want.
    When I switch to live view, or view it in a browser, It shows the word "Z Smith & Co" - which is the last record on file in the current sort order.
    What I was trying to attain, was to put the static text "unknown" in this field, so that if the user does not select anything then the word "unknown" goes into the record of the (different) table that is being created.
    However, on reflection, I must allow the user to select whatever he likes into this field. If he does not know the company that should be there, he selects unknown from the list.
    Just shows how thinking wrongly can cause lots of problems.
    Have a merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

  • Problem using default value of report parameter 1 to validate parameter 2 passed in to report

    I am having a problem with an SSRS report using the default value of report parameter 1 to validate parameter 2 passed in to report (via C#) instead of using the value of parameter 1 that is also passed into the report.  Here are the
    simplified details:
    Using SSDT, SQL Server 2008 R2
    SSRS report has 2 parameters:
    P1 -- text, hidden, default value 'R1', ... front-end C# code can pass 'R2' or 'R1'
    P2 -- text, allows multiple values, list of available values provided by stored procedure (sproc_list) that takes P1 value as a parameter.  Hence, sproc_list either provides a list for P1 = 'R1' or P1 = 'R2'.
    List for P1 = 'R1' is 'A', 'B', 'C'
    List for P1 = 'R2' is 'A', 'B', 'D'
    Values for P1 and P2 can be passed in via C# to the report.
    The C# front-end displays 2 report choices to the user, R1 and R2, where both choices call the same RDL; but choice R1 passes in 'R1' for P1, and the choice R2 passes in 'R2' for P1.
    Upon a users 1st time use of the report no parameters are passed in.  Then when the user exits the report, the parameter value for P2 that was chosen is saved off to a file for R1 or R2, and used the next time the user selects the report.
    Everything always works fine for report R1 since the default value for P1 is 'R1'.
    When R2 is chosen and the user selects 'D' as the value for P2, runs the report, then exits, the P2 value of 'D' for R2 is saved to a file.  When the user returns the next day to run report R2, 'R2' is passed for P1, and 'D' is passed for P2.
    This is when the problem occurs.  The value of 'D' for P2 is validated against a list generated for P2 based on the default value of 'R1' for parameter P1.  Hence, SSRS considers 'D' an invalid value for P2 and blanks out the P2 parameter.
    The user can then use the drop down list for P2 and choose 'D', but this defeats the purpose of saving the parameter values to be used the next time.
    Why is the stored procedure that provides a list of available values for parameter P2 using the default value of 'R1' for parameter P1 instead of using the value of 'R2' passed into the report for parameter P1?

    Hi Tom,
    Sorry for my delay.
    If I understand correctly, you have two parameter in your report. It is a couple of cascading parameter. If we have choose ‘R1’ of P1, the P2 values is A, B, C. ‘R2’ of P1, corresponding P2 values is A, B, D. What your requirement is to save the end use
    select option of these two parameters.
    In SSRS, if we have configure the parameter with default value. When we run the report, the parameter will fill with the default value to filter data. If we want to save the last status we are render the report, we need to update the default value of P1.
    If we are query the default value from database, if possible, we can
    update the database try to resolve the issue.  Alternatively, we can set the dynamic default value for the parameter.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamic parameter default values

    Hello guy,
    i'm having a little problem, i hope someone in here can help me. So, here is my situation:
    I'm building a windows forms application in C# to display some reports. As i want to redesign all the controls, i made my own prompt to fill in the parameters. This works really fine, except one thing:
    Whenever a parameter has default-values (so just a list of values is allowed), I switch from a textbox to a dropdown-menu filled with the default values.
    No problems with static parameters, but i can't find a way to access the default values from dynamic parameters (values are retrieved from SQL-Server). The default prompt from the report-viewer can do it right, so i hope  you can hep me with my following question:
    Is there a way to obtain these values? Or at least the SQL-statement that is used to get them?
    thanks
    using:
    Visual Studio 2010 v10.0.30319.1

    I don't think the CR or Enterprise .NET SDK has any public APIs to retrieve default dynamic prompt values for crystal report parameter. With Java SDK there are no direct methods as well, however you can tap the HttpResponse object to read the prompt values that are sent to your viewer by the server as the viewer displays them and prompts you to select parameter value, however this method is not officially supported. With .NET SDK I am not sure if it is even possible. You have to use the standard viewer to see those values and let the viewer prompt with them, ratherthan your own controls.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to make default selection blank for SelectOneChoice component

    Query 1
    I have a JSF page having databound selectOneChoice on an attribute of ViewObject. The attribute LOV configuration has the List, Return Value set with the same value. UI Hints --> Choice List Options is checked for "Include No Selection Item" with "blank Item First to List" from drop down. When JSF loaded, default selected item does not appear to be blank. • Dynamic default values in parameters

    Hello,
    anyone knows if it's possible to set dynamic values as default values for parameters in portal?
    i am specially interested in the use the date we are in to pass it to a discoverer worksheet (month or year) via single parameter form or any other porlet that could perform it.
    Many thanks.

    PS
    Is the second thread i create with this question cause i didnt receive any answer before and i am really interested in any solution or knowing that i cant perform it.

    no one have ever used a date parameter (for example, month) that need a default value, and set this default value as the month we are today?
    maybe i didnt explain my problem properly before...
    thanks for any help, i really need this because all the porlets in the portal i am creating are discoverer's reports that presented by month, year or day.

  • Change default value "Number of Search Results" - Component PPM_DYNSEARCH

    Hi Gurus,
    I am new to SAP CRM WebUI development and hope you can help me on following problem.
    In Pipeline & Performance Management we want to change the default value for the search results from 100 to 1000.
    SAP CRM 7.0
    Component: PPM_DYNSEARCH
    View: PPM_DYNSEARCH/Filter
    I have already tried to solve this via following solution:
    1) Assign parameter SEARCH_MAX_HITS to a parameter profile in the following IMG and set his value to 1000:
    CRM >> UI Framework >> Technical role definition >> Define parameters.
    2) Then, assign your parameter profile to your business role:
    CRM >> UI Framework >> Business role >> Define business role.
    However this works for all initial search screens but not for Pipeline and Performance Management.
    Can anyone give me a short hint how I can set the max number of search results from 100 to 1000 in the PPM Screen.
    Many Thanks
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Seems like this is a normal edit page, not a search page.
    Keep a break point at this code in the HTML page.
    <thtmlb:inputField id        = "maxHitsInput"
                               width     = "80%"
                               value     = "<%= lv_display_max_hits %>"
                               maxlength = "8"
                               design    = "DEFAULT"
                               type      = "INTEGER" />\
    Change lv_display_max_hits in debugging and see if that brings in the value on the UI.
    Normally for a search page there will be a THTMLB attribute maxHits where we pass the value. But in your case it is a normal view.

  • Default value dynamic select list

    Hi everybody,
    I have a question concerning dynamic select lists.
    I have a report of a table that shows some records. Each record has different versions of data. So when you click on a record you get to another page where you get some information about this record and where you can select the version of this information (with the help of a select list).
    The select list works fine and is defined dynamically as follows:
    select distinct a.name display_value,
    a.version_id return_value
    from cn_pl_version a,
    cn_pl_std_peplanung b
    WHERE a.version_ID = b.version_id AND
    b.pe_id = '&P6_HELP_PRODET.'
    order by a.version_id desc
    My problem is that when I click on a record I always get the report filled with the oldest version of the current record, so I always have to choose the newest version in the select list manually. I would prefer always to have the newest version in the report.
    The query for the report is as follows:
    select
    (select sum(stunden) from cn_pl_std_peplanung t02
    where abt_id = '10'
    and t02.pe_id = t1.pe_id
    and t02.version_id = t1.version_id
    and t02.idee_id = t1.idee_id) stunden_ir,
    (select name from cn_pl_version u01

    Hi Patrick,
    what value does you select list show, when you branch to the page? Is it the correct one?
    If not you should change your select list, that the correct version is selected as default. You can define a "default value" when you set the source of the element.
    Otherwise you can maybe set up an example application at http://apex.oracle.com.

  • Dynamic LOV with dates and selected default value

    Hello,
    I have a dynamic lov with dates. Query looks like this:
    select distinct concat(to_char(b.send_day_time,'YYYY.MM.DD HH24'),':00') display_value, to_char(b.send_day_time,'YYYY.MM.DD HH24') return_value
    from ...
    No I want to select a specific date as the default value. I put the following code for the default value:
    declare
    begin
    return to_char ('2008.02.19 10:00');
    end;
    But it doesn't work.The date (string) exists in the lov but it is not selected.
    Can someone tell me where the problem is?
    Thx in advance.
    Greetings,
    hamburger

    Hi hamburger,
    As return value you specified to_char(b.send_day_time,'YYYY.MM.DD HH24'),
    so your default value should be like to_char('2008.02.19 10'). Also pay attention to select the "Default Value Type".
    Hope this helps.
