Dynamic site using Paypal

Can anyone recommend a tutorial which will help me set up a dynamic site using Paypal?
I have some - although not a lot - of experience with php and mySql, and have set up simple sites using Paypal buttons - I really want to learn to combine the two.  I'm having trouble finding anything I can understand on the Paypal site, and googling it brings up such a lot of (mostly out of date) tutorials I don't know where to start.
Thanks,

All the PayPal button does is to take the data that's already on the
page for that item and send it to be processed, in this case by PayPal.
There is no magic here and no extra DB on that end of things.
On a database driven site where everything is generated dynamically for the page, you cannot use a generic code as items such as - product name, price and product code will be different for every item, this means storing that info in the database.
However, one does need a DB set up to handle the customer data - name,
address, etc. BUT NOT credit card info, as well as the details of the
order itself. Also, a single order may consist of a number of items.
Not required, all this is handled by paypal, and one can set-up a shopping cart if required using paypal, (especially useful for beginners). Storing such things as name and address also requires the site to comply with data protection legislation, (I know most do not, but that is no excuse).

  • Placed order using paypal, bestbuy site crashed, now my order lists someone elses account info!

Extremely upset and concerned. I placed an order on your website and used paypal to checkout. Was directed to the paypal site where I entered my info. It took me back to bestbuy to complete the order, however your page crashed and took me to a page that said oops sorry an error has occured, but my order still went through. I go to my account and check the order status, and IT IS LISTING SOMEONE ELSES PAYPAL ACCOUNT INFO as my payment method. This should NOT be happening. Tried calling customer service who was absolutely clueless and was of no help at all and would not do anything. I checked paypal, and there is a pending charge for the order total for bestbuy.com so there should not be any problem on their end. Someone contact me ASAP about whats going on. We should not be able to view other customers private info!

    Good morning redspeed,
Placing an order on BestBuy.com using PayPal should be a pleasant and hassle-free experience! From the sounds of it, your experience has been far from what we strive to provide for an online shopping experience. With that said, it is truly odd that your order would be reflecting another person’s PayPal information, but the transaction still appearing on your PayPal account. I am truly sorry for any confusion or inconvenience that this may cause you.
Using the information you registered with the forum, I believe I was able to locate the order. I am sending you a private message to gather some details to further research this issue. You may check your private messages by signing into the forum, then clicking the envelope icon in the top right corner of the page.

    Hi,
I simply use a shopping cart provided by an ISP, and use paypal to process payments. Not very glamourus, but get's the job done well, and accurately... and at a low cost. Feel free to check it out at:

  • More than one editor (computer) for iWeb and using paypal

I am not a full-time Mac user, but have been asked to complete a website for a client who has started one in iWeb. She wishes to continue her site in iWeb so that she can make future changes to it. Currently, we have different versions of iWeb on our computers (hers is 2.0.4, mine is 1.0.2). It is my understanding so far that we would need the same version to be able to edit the site on both computers.
Before I can agree to finish the site for her, I would like to confirm that if I upgrade my computer to iLife 08, and she publishes the website to MobileMe, I would be able to retrieve the site and work on it from my computer and vice versa.
Also, she wishes to incorporate paypal in her site. Would this be an issue?
    Thank you.

Also, would I be able to retrieve her domain file with iDisk (through MobileMe, right?)?
Yes, that's right. For transferring iWeb's Domain file you could use iDisk's Public folder. The general address is:
    http://public.me.com/membername
    And here's an example:
    http://public.me.com/emily_parker
But before transferring the Domain file, read "NOTE 1" here:

I had not heard of the PayPal rule for MobileMe - I will look into this. If you have a link to the documentation for it, please let me know.
+"The Service is designed for personal use and not intended to be used for commercial business purposes, including, but not limited to, *transacting online sales* or software distribution via an e-commerce site."+ ...Quoted from the _MobileMe Terms of Service_.
So yes, you could upgrade to iWeb '08 in order to be able to open the Domain file transferred via iDisk. But if the site is using PayPal, you are not supposed to publish it to MobileMe — instead, publish it to a folder and then FTP to another host.

  • Trouble using Paypal at the iTunes store

I have an iTunes account. I have enjoyed trouble free service, until now.
I decided to set up my daughter with her own account. First, I set up a Paypal account for here and put a little cash in it. Then, she and I set up an iTunes account for her, a nice lesson in online shopping and financial responsiblity. When I attempted to use Paypal as the method of payment, I was directed to a series of Paypal pages to complete the process. I was asked to supply a credit card as a backup funding source. There seems to be no way around this, or is there?
Here's the rub: I specifically used a Paypal account so that my daughter would be paying cash (electronically speaking). If I wanted to use a credit (or debit) card number, I would have simply used one at the iTunes store rather than Paypal. It doesn't make sense. Jillions of other online vendors accept Paypal and if there is a balance in my account they don't care if there is a credit card backup. They are happy to take the cash. Besides, it's not like there is large amount at stake.
Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any advice and help.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Paypal use to work as you say. It was all contained inside of iTunes without taking you to a secondary app (Browser) and forcing you to go through their protocol. You can't buy Gift Certificates now using Paypal either and if you try it takes you to Apples website and then never gives you a paypal option.
Yet on Apples own site they say Paypal is accepted when it's not an option for payment? Apple seems to be making a lot of mistakes lately. With Zune around the corner they better focus on GREAT customer service or they'll loose massive market share.

  • Search on a non-dynamic site

I'm real curious as to how you would go about adding search
    capabilities
to a non-dynamic site. Below is a link to a site I visited
    where they
have a search function but all pages are html so it doesn't
    appear to be
data driven. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I'd sure
    like to
    know how this is done.

Just because the extension is one file type doesn't
    necessarily mean that
it is that file type. I have a site which uses serverside
    includes on all
the pages. As the site started with static pages, and since
    it was well-
spidered with the .html extensions, the server is now set up
    so that
anything with a .html extension is parsed as if it were
    .shtml. That's
relatively easy to do on an Apache server, which is what
    hosts the site in
    question.
The other clue that this is the case is in the search form
    itself:
    <form style='display:inline' name=search184 method=post
    action='results.html'>
See the action attribute? Normally that would have to be some
    kind of
script; in this case, it's a 'plain' html page, though when
    you go there,
    there are dynamically generated results.

  • Why this site used php files in all the pages?

    Hola
I download my friend's site and ALL the pages are in a folder with the file name index.php ... WHY?
    Example;
    Name of folder; gallery
Inside this folder, a file with the name index.php
    Name of folder; contact
Inside this folder, a file with the name index.php
    It has an "includes" folder with files for ;
    header.php, footer.php, content.php and functions.php
    and so on.
Now, this site has ONLY 7 pages, it's not like it's a monster site, so
what is the purpose of using php in every single page?
I have to tell you that my friend has a program call CKeditor and CKfinder to
    edited her website.
Not sure if this is the reason why this site has been coded all of it with php files.
I'm waiting impatiently for your responce

    >Now, this site has ONLY 7 pages, it's not like it's a monster site, so
    >what is the purpose of using php in every single page?
The reason for using php extension or not has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the site. If the site uses dynamic pages, then the page need a dynamic page extension. Even sites without dynamic pages often use .php in anticipation of using them so the file names won't need to be changed down the road.
Now, if your question is more about why they created separate directories for each page, it's probably so the url's can be accessed without including the file extension, Ex
    example.com/contact
    instead of
    example.com/contact.php

  • Can't use PayPal Credit on eBay.

I noticed that I have $506 in PayPal Credit in my account. I tried to buy something on eBay and it said that it couldn't authorize my payment. I also tried to buy something on a different site and got rejected. Why is it showing $506 on the main page in  PayPal when I can't even use any of it?

Same here, it is very frustrating.  I have a fairly new paypal credit account and can not use it. I Have spent hours on the phone with paypal credit and they can not tell me what is wrong.  They have checked all of my account info, and I have no balance (since I have never used it) and I have available credit.  When I try to use paypal credit I get a message saying the payment type you are using is not working, try another payment type.   They keep telling me it must be an internal system issue and to let the system calm down a few days and try again.   My wife has paypal credit and has used it with out any problems on the same computer so I know it is not a browser problem.  She can send money to my paypal account with no problem, and I can then transfer to my bank accoutn. I just can not use my paypal credit line!  No one can give me a solution.

  • Uploading my dynamic site to Netfirms MySQL

I created a dynamic site in CS5.5, using XAMPP to make it locally. After putting it on my Netfirms-hosted remote server, I get an error saying:

Basically what I did, was export all the phpMyAdmin info into the MySQL that Netfirms hosts, and this happened. Can anyone help me, please?
    Thanks.

    I figured it out. Thanks.

  • Can't add funds using PayPal

I get the message "The credit card information is not valid. Please check your entries carefully." but when I use my card it works fine, I've checked Paypal and the detatils are correct(which considering I used paypal to buy something from another site last night I knew where correct) and match the card details linked to my PSN account(which I'm allowed to use) Something tells me that when this £10 promotion has ended it'll work fine.

Removed my Paypal details, waited one week, re-added Paypal via my PS4 console, set as default, topped up £15 successfully. Shame I missed out on the Paypal £10 offer that finished July 31st which Sony are unwilling to compensate me for even though the issue was at their side (though they will never admit that). PayPal ensured me there was no problems on their side.
Sony also managed to take my Spotify subscription successfully via PayPal before I'd removed that method but while my account was barred, proving that my PayPal details were correct, just that their system would not allow top ups.

  • Cannot pay for iTunes products using paypal.  Need funding source in US???

Since I have upgraded to lion 10.7.3, every time I try to buy something on itunes using pay pal, I'm told my password is incorrect.  So I change it.  Then I click on paypal again and I get this error message.""This recipient requires that you have a valid funding source from United States in order to complete this transaction."  What does this mean?  Why was I able to use paypal without any problem for years?  What can I do to fix the problem?

Yes. I'm getting the same problem with my Mac Pro. I've been unable to access Paypal for about 2 weeks now with either Seamonkey, Safari or Firefox. I wasn't too concerned at first as I was able log into Paypal using an older G4 which worked fine. Now unfortunately that seems to be locked out as well. How frustrating I can't even log in to get a Paypal phone number from their help page. I did manage to contact Paypal via email, here is their response:
...We are sorry for the inconvenience. To be honest with you, our technical
department had confirmed that we have site issues affecting some of our
customers. Although we are already investigating the problem and are
working for the immediate resolution, I can not give you a definite
timeframe when it will be resolved.
In the mean time, I have provided the information like the operating
system you are using and your web browser to our Technical Department
and a ticket has been created for your account to be escalated...
Obviously there is some major problem which has happened in the last few weeks. It is strange as some times first thing in the morning on my G4 I have been able to log into the Paypal site and get the ability to access one or two pieces of information and then the site gets frozen.

  • Can I get apps from BlackBerry World without using PayPal?

My billing plan doesn't allow carrier billing.
The BlackBerry World website apparently doesn't do billing for some apps.
(Even though the help for the web site says it does.)
Is there a way to avoid using PayPal?

I use a pre-paid debit card on my BlackBerry World account.  I keep less than 50 bucks on there, just to make purchases.  It works well for mine.  Hope that helps,

  • Can I link my muse site to PayPal so I can set up payments?

I have set up a site for a client who wishes to use paypal for her customers to pay for their purchases. How can I link the html code given by PayPal for this, I have no idea where to start. Is there a widget available?

    Hi,
You can get the "Buy now" button code for the link below

Then you can use Object-> insert html option to paste the code provided by Paypal. As shown in the image below

  • Can I use paypal?

    Hi everyone,
This article at appleinsider (link below) about paypal and safari has me concerned. A bit of it's over my head, I've never really worried about browser security too much, but I do use paypal a lot. So... the subject says it all. Can I still use paypal with Safari?? Or are there certain measures I need to take before it's safe?
    Thanks,
    Dan P.

'm taking a risk if I: click a link to paypal from an email that comes from someone I do not know
Or if an email appears to come from PayPal, lending institution etc. In fairness, most of these are valid e-mails, i.e. coming from the same source. However, I think caution ought to be applied in all cases. Best approach is simply to enter the URL in Safari, log-on and go from there.
For now, the safest approach is to start over, i.e. reestablish your Cookies and page cache for any institution's site you have concerns about: For this one-time empty the Cache and remove the related cookies via your Preference>Security Panel. Then enter the URL, log-in etc. You can be assured that the cookies recorded came from them.
The redirects via e-mail are risky, i.e. it can be difficult to ascertain the validity of the link.
