Dynamic Tabs in Web Intelligence

Hi Experts
I have the following database tables:
Customer
Product
Sales
Region
I am generating a detail report in BO XI R2 WebI and have to schedule and ave it in .xls format. The final output, i.e the workbook should contain multiple worksheets, each for one costomer. The number of customer is dynamic. If the number of customer is 90 then I have to develop a report so that the workbook will have 90 worksheets. If the number of customers increase to 100, then the workbook will have 100 worksheets.
Can any one help me to find the solution for the requirement?

We can create a WebI Report having seperate Report Tab for each customer and filtering the data based on the Customer using RE SDK.
So once the report is created and exported to CMS then it can be scheduled to Excel format.
But here the Number of of customers reduce or increase, then the Number of tabs may not reduce or increase when the document is refreshed.
So this will work only for creation and schedule in that same time.

I am new BO reports. Have already worked on Crystal reports XI. With that knowledge, I have started working in BO web Intelligence reports.
I am able to create a universe and able to create a sample WebI report using the universe.
SQL viewer shows

Parallel to this activity, we have designed a java application to generate this report with some dynamic join conditions, query parameters and order_by clauses.
Using @variable('name') did not work.
Please suggest me on this

Dynamic Filter in Web Intelligence

Hi!!!
I need help about one issue. Let me explain my problem:
I have a webi report, this report contain the sales by day. The problem is that my variable of day contains values from current month, last month and month of las year. Example:
01.04.2010
01.3.2011
01.04.2011
02.04.2010
02.03.2011
02.04.2011
My variable of day has this behavior because i need to compare the sales of current month vs las month and current month of last year.
The measure that has the sales is database delegated.
In other view of my report, i need to show only the sales of current month, but when in my webi report filter the sales with the condition "is not null" (to hide the information about last year and last month) the intersaction between day and sales show me the following message:
                     01.04.2011
Sales:      #NOT AVAILABLE
I really need to reach this behavior, but i dont know how to do to work my filter.
Someone can help me please?????

Yes, let me explain the reason because sales have to be database delegated.
In my case sales is not the sum of quantity of productos bought by a customer, sales is like a indicator that show me if customer bought or doesnt bought.
For example David is my customer and i sell 3 types of products: A, B and C.
Date 12.04.2011 David bought product A and B and 13.04.2011 David bought just product C.
In my report if i want to analyze sales by day and customer i have to have the following result:
*****Date 12.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales = 1
*****Date 13.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales = 1
In my report if i want to analyze sales by day and type of produc i have to have the following result:
*****Date 12.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales Product A= 1
            Sales Product B= 1
*****Date 13.04.2011 and customer Dave
            Sales Product C= 1
Can you see my point??
In date 12.04.2011 i cant do a sum if i am analyzing sales by customer because if i do a sum dave show me a sales of 2.
The only way that i found for this behavior is to use database delegated.

Hiding reports (tabs) in a Web Intelligence document

I've created a Web Intelligence document contains multiple reports (tabs).
I want to hide the reports (tabs) containing no data.
Is there any functionality in Web Intelligence for this?
If not, is there a workaround?

Which version are you using. If it is BOXI R3.1 then check in table properties-> there is one opton like don't display data when blank like dat....

Creating multiple tab reports using the same query in Web intelligence

Hi All,
I have created a Universe on a BW Query which has fields as below
AGE Depaatment Gender Grade
25       FIN                M            A
27       LES               F            A+
60       SWS            M             A++
Based on this data i have created a WEbi report which shows all of these data under one tab.
Now i create a new report tab in the same Webi Document by right cliicking the existing report and going to inset report and saving it.
Similarly i create two more new report tabs.
in each of these tabs i want to show data only for the concened departments.ie =1st report contains all the departments.
2nd report contains only finance data, third contains only Les data and fourth only SWs Data.
Is it possible to create this report using the same query?

You should use report filters, not query filters.
A query filter will affect the entire document. Every report tab that pulls data from that query will be impacted. If you start with a single report, by default it shows the data from the query. If you duplicate that report tab, then it's still attached to the first query. There are various ways to create report filters (input controls, quick filter, invoking the filter area from the toolbar) and a report filter impacts only blocks on that report tab. You can even create block filters by clicking on the block first, then creating your filter.
This is a fairly confusing bit for folks that are new to Web Intelligence.

Freeze header row panes in cross tab WEB Intelligence report

how do i freeze the crosstab header row in the WEB INTELLIGENCE report so that the header remains stationary /freezes at the top and the data can be independently scrolled.(similar to freeze panes in MS Excel).

Web Intelligence differences between IIS, Tomcat, etc.?

I am involved in a deployment of Business Objects Enterprise XI r2 where the initial testing was done with IIS as the back end for Web Intelligence. When I went to training for BOSE, it was clear that the interface for Web Intelligence was extremely limited when IIS was used as the back end. So, I am concerned about moving my project forward using IIS. I can just imagine a few months down the road, after being trained, my users coming back and demanding all of the functionality of the Web Intelligence interface on top of Tomcat or Websphere. Unfortunately, the developers in my shop are almost exclusively Micosoft/.NET focused, so they are concerned about switching the project to a non-IIS back end. So... management wants to see a document describing what is or is not available on the Web Intelligence interface on each of the different back ends.Does anyone know of such a document? Additionally, does anyone know officially if some future offering would allow greater functionality in Web Intelligence, using IIS as the back end?Cheers!

Webi reports can export tabbed worksheets to Excel, where Crystal can't.
Webi requires reporting from Universes. It cannot report directly from a database.
If a universe is designed well enough, it is a very good ad-hoc reporting tool for your users.
On the flip side, proper universe design is required for this to happen.
Webi functions and formulas are harder to use. A lot of the functions and aggregation must be done in the universe.
In short, Crystal has more functionality in the report designer. Webi requires a lot of designing in the universe first.
I prefer to use Webi as a reporting tool for users. For my purposes, I prefer Crystal because it's more versatile with less setup requirements.

First all sorry by my poor english i will try to explain my problem.
I'm developing a Web Site with BSP and it const of 2 frames obviusly with 2 web pages Menu.htm and Content.htm
what i need is: if I press a link in menu.htm, in content.htm appears a Tabstrip, (that's easy) now if I press again the link in menu.htm, in content.htm must appears other Tabstripitem at rigth side of the first Tab created..
it's understand??
how can I do that?? OO? i saw somes examples in PORTAL so this is possible to do. help?

You can have dynamic tabs by placing the <htmlb:tabStripItem> in a loop in the layout:
<% loop at tabstrip_tab. %>
<htmlb:tabStripItem index="<%=tabstrip_tab-index%>" etc. />
<% endloop. %>
Where tabstrip_tab contains the details of the tabstrip items.

can't find this information in Business Objects Designer's Guide and in Business Objects Administrator Guide.
Can somebody give short instructions how can I do it?

If the change between the 2 types of data has to happen dynamically during run time them
1. Use 2 dataproviders
a. Current
b. Historic
2. Merge the 2 dimensions
3. Use Webi variable to switch between the measure of the current and historic universe
Ex if [year] < 2010 then historic.[expense] else current.[expense]

How to add a barcode font for use in Web Intelligence (WebI) XIR2 and 3x?

Anyone have the steps to add a barcode font to WebI XIR2 and 3x? Not finding a good KBase on it and was also wondering if there any "gotchas" in terms of printing and exporting to .pdf.

Also, if the solution provided in the previous post doesn't helps you then try the following solution.
Following are the steps to apply barcode font (IDAutomationHC39M):
1) In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
-- C:\Windows\Fonts
2) On the File menu click Install New Font then browse to the font you want to install.
3) Edit the properties on the fonts you have just added:
In the "Embedding" tab, you should get a property like "Preview & Print embedding allowed".
But, nothing related to a license limitation regarding the embedding, else, you will not be allowed to use the added fonts in PDF or XLS generation.
4) Once the above points have been done:
-- Copy the .ttf fonts you want to use in the following XIR2 folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\j2sdk1.4.2_08\jre\lib\fonts
5) Add the following entries into the fontalias.xml file, which is in the following folder:
<BO_INSTALL_DIR>\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\fonts
The template looks like the following one:

9) Login in to infoview and create a new web intelligence report by using the Java Report Panel or Html Report Panel;

Just test the above u2018IDAutomationHC39Mu2019 barcode font, at your end and update me with the results.

JSF Page Fragment based on Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template

Can we create a JSF Page Fragment (jsff) based on an Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template ?
I tried to create this jsff page and added in a bounded taskflow.
In the create jsff wizard, it will allow us to select the Oracle Dynamic Tabs Shell Template, but when trying to use this taskflow in the another page (jspx), it is giving the following exception.
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Target Unreachable, 'tabContext' returned null
at com.sun.faces.application.ApplicationImpl.createComponent(ApplicationImpl.java:261)
at javax.faces.webapp.UIComponentELTag.createComponent(UIComponentELTag.java:222)
Basically the reason why I am trying to do like this is that I have to simply drop the taskflow in a page as a region.
The ViewController project code will only be created as an ADF Library Jar File and be used in other projects
(it will not be deployed as a web application (war))
More about the requirement:
I have a BPM Application in which I have 2 ADF ViewController projects, one for only BPM Human Task related UI and another for only ADF functionality.
I am writing a custom BPM Workspace kind of ADF Application and want the UI to be based on the Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template.
ADF ViewController project is deployed only as a ADF Library Jar file.
Another advantage I can have is I can test my ADF code within JDeveloper.
(If I create a jspx page based Oracle Dynamic Tab Shell Template in the BPM Human Task Related UI project, I will not be able to run it in JDeveloper and test it.
Otherwise I have to deploy to the SOA environment each time I make a change)

Hi,
the dynamic tab shell template can only be used with top level (JSPX) pages (in 12c also with Facelet pages). There is no configuration for templates that would make the JDeveloper IDE to not show the template of the selected page is a fragment.

Web Service consumption in Web Intelligence

Dear Community Members,
does anyone have an idea how-to consume Web Services in Web Intelligence?
The scenario is the following:
The data is stored as XSTRING (ABAP AS) and it is retrieved via ABAP Web Service which translate the XSTRING into STRING.
However, is there a possibility to consum this web service in Web Intelligence resp. is it possible to access the data via SQL as Ingo Hilgefort has it posted on his wiki Page to access SAP via SQL:

Use the WebI rich client (assuming you are using XI 3.x) to build a new report. Activate the Other data sources option and choose there Web services . It will enable you to choose a Web service as data source.
Starting with SP3 this type of provider can be refreshed dynamically when the report is viewed in the InfoVIew.

Dynamic Tabs in iWeb

I need help with a personal site that would be my Safari start page. I would like to have layers of HTML snippets that when clicked, would change the layer of the page to make that HTML snippet the top layer, so like dynamic tabs that would not change the page URL, but could change content. Any way to do this?

Hi Mike!
Another option (only need to copy/paste some HTML code) would be to create a series of text links to the HTML pages you desire (or they could be small iFrames if you want buttons w/rollovers).
Create an HTML snippet window (i.e. an iFrame) with the appropriate window size, scrolling, name, etc. attributes/values. Let's say you name your iFrame "content".
The overall idea is that your links load other html content into the "content" iFrame. You only need one iFrame for this scenario and it is simple to set-up and maintain.
Publish your web site as per usual (to a folder or Mobile Me).
Next, in a text editor, open up the HTML page with the links and iFrame. Look for the links you created in iWeb (using the Find command will make it easier); "Latest News" is used in this example for the link.
The format will look something like:
<a href="firstpagelink.html" title="firstPageLink">Latest News</a>
Next add the following code to this anchor tag: target="content" (this is the name you used for your iFrame).
So now the code on your page should look like:
<a href="firstpagelink.html" title="firstPageLink" target="content"> Latest News</a>
You would do this with each link, just copy the first target="content" and then paste it in to the other anchor tags.
Once you have set-up your page in iWeb, this post-publish pasting operation goes very quickly.

Drawback: everytime you re-publish the page you need to go through this drill. However it is probably the content in the iFrame that will change the most often. Thoughtful planning/design of the main/link page will hopefully minimize the frequency of changes needed there.
Or use iFrames for your links where the code will not get overwritten - but now we're getting a little trickier because you will have to communicate through the parent document to enable all the "link" iFrames to talk to the "content" iFrame.
