Dynamically create Form Guide

Is it possible to dynamically create a form guide using a data model? We want to be able to control what fields are hidden and visible based on the data. Can this be done through XML?
Aditya

I need to create dynamic form guides which can be controlled by data or schema . Don't know if Form Guides can interpret XFA/XML data or even XSD.
We store information in a database, which varies by user. When a user accesses the guide, I need to create an XML/XFA, from the database, and pass it to the guide. This should determine which fields appear....
The company wants to refrain from JS which is another challenge...
- Is there a way to dynamically change the appearance of the guide based ONLY on data? For example, hide or display fields
- Similarly, is it possible to control access to certain fields base ONLY on data? For example, Read Only vs Editable.

  • Referring to dynamically created form items

    I have a requirement where I do not know how many rows are going to be added into a table from a form. What I have done is used javascript to dynamically create form fields. This is along the same lines as a tabular form, however it should not save any of the data until the whole page is submitted.
    My problem is, how do I then refer to these form items within a PL/SQL procedure?
    Below is the piece of javascript that creates new rows on the form (the options for the select item are fed in using ajax). And following that, the pl/sql loop that I have attempted to use which doesn't work.
    NOTE: The onchange attribute on each of the form elements was to try to set a session state variable for each of the items. I got this from the following blog post.
    http://deneskubicek.blogspot.com/2009/01/ajax-setting-item-session-state.html
    Javascript
         var objectFormCount = 0
         function addObjectForm() {
              var newFormHTML = '<tr>';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '<td><select onchange="f_setItem(this.id)" name="f01" id="f01_' + objectFormCount + '"></select></td>';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '<td><input onchange="f_setItem(this.id)" type="text" name="f02" id="f02_' + objectFormCount + '"/></td>';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '<td><input onchange="f_setItem(this.id)" type="text" name="f03" id="f03_' + objectFormCount + '"/></td>';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '<td><input onchange="f_setItem(this.id)" type="text" name="f04" id="f04_' + objectFormCount + '"/></td>';
              newFormHTML = newFormHTML + '</tr>';
              $('#BackEndObjectTable').append(newFormHTML);
              objectFormCount++;

    For anyone with the same requirements. What I had to do was add the value of each form element into a temp table which was basically held key/value pair (form item/value) along with the username, the table that is to be updated and the row number.
    Once the actual page was saved, the procedure built up an insert sql string from the values in the temp table and inserted each row.
    Works a charm, although spitting the data back out into the dynamic forms is going to be a chore!!!!

  • Is it possible to dynamically create form fields in PDF form?

    Hi all,
    I would like to dynamically create object like textbox, dropdown list from xml data. For example:
    When I receive following xml data:
    <field name="Check Box" type="selectbox"/>
    <field name="Text Field" type="textbox"/>
    I want to generate 2 form fields check box and text field with title "Check Box" and "Text Field" accordingly.
    Is it possible to do it in javascript for PDF form?
    Thank you and regards,
    Anh

    You cannot dynamically create objects on the fly like that but you can create interpret the XML and create an XDP file (which is the language of the template file) then bring that into Designer and create a PDF from that.

  • Form Guide - dynamic field within dynamic container.

    I have a form Guide using dynamic containers, but within the dynamic container on the Form Guide within the same Repeater Accordion Panel, I also need a dynamic Row (2 fields) that need to repeat within the repeating container. I have built this in Adobe Lifecycle ES and once the Form Guide is finished will be taking it to Adobe Workbench to render.
    Could you please assist in how to make the dynamic row repeat within a container/panel that is also already repeating?
    Thanks.

    Penny,
    I have a requirement for the same thing. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this is possible as there is only one dataProvider per Panel - based on the type of panel chosen, this dataProvider will be used to populate a control (accordion, grid or tab) in the panel or used to populate a number of repeated (static) panels.
    My workaround has been to create a set number (10) of repeatable control panels (accordian, grid, tab) and then use the panel display rules to hide those panels with no data in them. It is very tedious to do as the guide builder has no rebind feature (you have to create all 10 panels from scratch - you can't copy & paste the layout, then rebind the panel items to another field in the form).

  • Dynamically create and remove TEXT items in forms

    Hi Guys,
    Is there a way to dynamically create and remove TEXT items in form. For example I have the EMP and DEPT table and when
    I select the EMP table name from the LOV, rows of the EMP table with column name and data should get displayed on the screen and likewise a similar action for DEPT table and
    so on. I have about 90 tables from where data could be required to view and edit. They all have varying number of columns.
    Any suggestions ?

  • Does Ipad adobe reader allow to fill a  dynamic xml form created on LiveCycle?

    The form was created using LiveCycle Designer ES3 for the purpose of being filled out on the spot at the client and then submitted as email attachment. However, Adobe reader does not seem to be able to open it giving the following error:
    "Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document..."
    The form is dynamic XML, and in the description of the Adobe Reader for the Ipad, it mentions that it is capable of opening forms under the Livecycle rights.
    However, if the Reader can not open dynamic XML's, how can I convert the form into a compatible fillable form for the Ipad?
    Thanks.

    LiveCycle Dynamic XML Forms are not supported in the Mobile versions of Adobe Reader.

  • How we create dynamic add form field in web form

    How we create dynamic add form field in web form?

    Hi,
    Thanks for reply.
    I need to create a form in which "add more" input field dynamically. For

  • Getting started with create dynamic XML forms

    I work for a software vendor that is developing a C#.Net data entry system designed to replace a paper process.  The original forms come from a 3rd party and are paper form, such as a tax form, loan application form, etc.  The goal is to be able to enter data on the screen in a form that looks like something like the original form and then to print out the form that looks identical to the form on the screen.
    The system is designed to allow the end user to create the forms.  The process is that the end user creates the fields in the C#.Net application, then pick from those fields to build the form. During data entry, the fields are both pre populated by the C#.Net application and the results are saved back to the C#.Net application.
    The data entry and print all needs to be embedded into the core C#.Net application and NOT rely on any outside systems like the LifeCycle system.
    Is there some way to embed PDF creation in the C#.Net application (or in a traditional C/C++ application for that matter)?  I am under the impression that is what dynamic XML forms is all about.  Is dynamic XML forms an Adobe thing or an open standard?

    You are funny  I clearly state that I do *NOT* want to use LiveCycle Designer and you go tell me to post a question in that forum  Hopefully someone else will come along which can actually address my questions

  • How get context value form a dynamic created node

    Hi all,
    I have build my own dynamic view. In this view I use also a dynamic created Node. When I have more rows in my Node I see every row with context of the last row of the dynamic Node.
    this is the source I use.
    for (int x = 0; x < dynTabNode.size(); x++)
      dynTabNode.setLeadSelection(x);
      IWDGroup group = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("Group_name");
      IWDAttributeInfo aiName = wdContext.getChildNode("DayNode", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION).getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Name");
      IWDCaption name = (IWDCaption) view.createElement(IWDCaption.class, null);
      name.bindText(aiName);
      group.addChild(name);
      for (int i = 8; i < 18; i++)
        int teller = i * 100;
        IWDGroup group1 = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("hour" + teller);
        for (int z = 0; z < 12; z++)
          IWDImage image = (IWDImage) view.createElement(IWDImage.class, "Image" + teller + "_" + x);
          image.setWidth("10");
          image.setHeight("24px");
          image.setBorder(0);
          IWDAttributeInfo att = dynTabNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("hour" + teller);
          image.bindSource(att);
          group1.addChild(image);
          teller = teller + 5;
    How can I read my Node row for row?
    Richard
    Edited by: Armin Reichert on Jul 28, 2008 5:03 PM

    The reason is that all these Caption UI elements are bound against the same context attribute. At runtime this will be resolved to the attribute value of the lead-selected node element. In this example you can fix this by not binding the "text" property but setting it to the attribute value of the iterated node element:
    for (int x = 0; x < dynTabNode.size(); x++)
      dynTabNode.setLeadSelection(x);
      IWDGroup group = (IWDGroup)view.getElement("Group_name");
      IWDCaption name = (IWDCaption) view.createElement(IWDCaption.class, null);
      IWDNode dayNode = wdContext.getChildNode("DayNode", IWDNode.LEAD_SELECTION);
      String text = (String) dayNode.getElementAt(x).getAttributeValue("Name");
      name.setText(text);
      IWDAttributeInfo aiName = dayNode.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Name");
      name.bindText(aiName);
      group.addChild(name);
    (I assume here that the node "DayNode" has the same size as dynTabNode. No idea if this assumption is correct)
    But this would not help for editable elements where you need to bind the edited property.

  • Dynamically creating a database block in forms 10g

    hi guys ,
    i got a new requirement ,that is dynamically create a database blocks and items...
    how it is possible..?
    thanks...

    Hello,
    It is not possible. You cannot create blocks or items at runtime. What you can do is to have them created but hidden, then you set them visible as soon as you need them.

  • Creating a dynamic interactive form

    I have been working at trying to get a text field that expands when more text is added to the field. I have been looking at the sample Purchase Order form that came with Designer and when I look at the properties of the subform for the comments field near the bottom of the page I see options that are grayed out when I look at the properties of the subform that I have made. I'm just not getting it and seeing what to do to get thing to work.
    For example when I go to look at the Object > Subform properties everything is grayed out except the Type, Presence, and Locale fields. In the Object > Binding properties everything below Name, Default Binding and Import/Export Bindings fields is grayed out.
    Without knowing what else to look into I'm stuck.
    I have tried working with the tutorial in the Designer help but there is no tutorial for a dynamic interactive form just a dynamic form that apparently doesn't work the same way.

    OK. I think I got this figured out why the fields are grayed out.
    But how do I get a field to grow when I finaly open the pdf document in Acrobat 7?
