Dynamically Create Report

Dear All,
I am working with oracle 10g reports along oracle 10g database. Now I want to create a dynamic report based on parameter, which columns I will select from forms only those filed will be shown on the report. Number of columns will not be static and report will only show those columns selected by the users from form.
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks and Regards,

See the report Builder Help on Lexical parameters. Carefully read everything about it, especially the restrictions, like "If a column or parameter is used as a lexical reference in a query, its Datatype must be Character" and "If you want to use lexical references in your SELECT clause, you should create a separate lexical reference for each column you will substitute". Here is an example:
SELECT &P_ENAME NAME, &P_EMPNO ENO, &P_JOB ROLE FROM EMP
P_ENAME, P_EMPNO, and P_JOB can be used to change the columns selected at runtime. For example, you could enter DEPTNO as the value for P_EMPNO on the Runtime Parameter Form. Note that in this case, you should use aliases for your columns. Otherwise, if you change the columns selected at runtime, the column names in the SELECT list will not match the Report Builder columns and the report will not run.

  • Dynamically creating reports with an xml file and a dataset??

I have an xml file I created called ReportFields.xml which looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <ReportFields>
    <AccountNumber></AccountNumber
    <FirstName></FirstName>
    <LastName></LastName>
    </ReportFields>
I then create a blank crystal report and go into the Database Expert and choose ADO.NET DataSets, I browse to the xml file I just created, in this case ReportFields and give it a Class Name of ReportFields.  Now under Database Fields, I have a ReportFields table with the following columns:
    AccountNumber, FirstName, and LastName.
I drag AccountNumber onto the Details section of the report.  I have a stored procedure I created called GetAccts which basically has the following syntax:
select top 50 a.Account_Number from tbAccounts.
Depending on which client database this is run against, it will obviously return different results.  I am using the Microsoft Application Data Access Block from Enterprise Library 3.1 to Return a DataSet.  Once I get the DataSet which would only have 1 table with 1 column (Account Numbers), how can I bind the AccountNumber field on the report to what is returned in the DataSet?
    Thanks Very Much in Advance,
    Xaisoft

OK, i figured this much out:
    Dim ds As New DataSet
            Dim myXmlReader As New System.Xml.XmlTextReader("C:\SystemSetup.xml")
            ds.ReadXml(myXmlReader, XmlReadMode.InferTypedSchema)
            mydatatable = ds.Tables(0)

  • Dynamically creating a CR by code

Hello, I am discovering crystal reports (I have the basic version included with VS 2005).  I would like to dynamically create a report by the code.I need to generate a report from a Dataset or DataTable but this source is variable. The columns of the table are not always the sames. I did research, and all the tutorials I have seen create models primarily via visual studio (with known column names). I wonder if it is possible to create and edit from A to Z the report by the code.  I tried (creation of the object ReportDocument, but I can not add a section, TextObject ...).  Visual Studio back me errors and tells me that these objects have no constructor.  I began to wonder if it was possible to do that.If yes, in which version (maybe mine is too old).  In any case, if someone has a runway, an example or a tutorial to advise me, I am taker.  thank you in advance.

You can use the Report Application Server (RAS) engine to dynamically create reports, or add items to existing reports. RAS is not included with the verison of Crystal Reports that comes with .NET. Full versions such as XI R2 do include RAS.
Some samples can be found on the support site.

  • Dynamically create Sheets

    Hi,
I need to develop a discoverer report which takes a cell value from another sheet in the same workbook as its parameter. I am aware of the DrillDown functionality.
    My question is
    1. Can we dynamically create report sheets based on the cell value selected in the existing master sheet.
E.g I have a sheet which displays Sites, when i select one of the sites is it possible to dynamically create a new sheet to display the information regarding the selected sheet. Every Site selected in a different sheet. Site is being populated from a database column and the # of rows returned will vary often.
    2. Can we develop a report which takes a cell value from another sheet as its parameter.
I create 2 sheets, the first one displaying the Sites and the second sheet displaying the relevant site information which takes selected site value from the first sheet as its parameter.
I cannot use LOV or Page Items :(
    Thanks,
    Ganesh

    Ganesh.
    I know you're aware of drill-down but:
    1. Easiest - via Plus - would be that if the 2nd. sheet you need to drill down to has the same columns, totals, etc. already set up with a condition based on a parameter for that particular site. Then from the 1st. sheet you can link the parameter required for the 2nd sheet (ie: site) to see specifics about that site. In the 'ol days, I would just have a 2nd. sheet that asked the user for the site and labelled the worksheet as something like: Detail.
    2. You can have a worksheet that acts as a subquery to the 1st worksheet. However only Desktop supports that. As for not having access to page -> items, that's definitely a shame in this case.
No, you cannot have a 'dynamic' worksheet other than a drill-down concept in that it's created by Disco 'on the fly'.

    Hi all
Why Dynamic Parameter is not working, when i create report XI using stored procedure ?
Only i shaw those parameters which i used in my stored procedure, the parameter which i create dynamic using stored procedure
is not shown to me when i referesh the report for viewing the results.
I have used the same procedure which i mention below but can not seen the last screen which is shown in this .
    ============================================================================================
    1. Select View > Field Explorer2. Right-click on Parameter Fields and select New from the right-click menu.3. Enter u201CCustomer Nameu201D as the name for your parameter4. Under u201CList of Valuesu201D select u201CDynamicu201D5. Under the Value column, click where is says u201Cclick here to add itemu201D and select Customer Name from the drop-down list. The dialog shown now look like the one shown below in Figure 1. Click OK to return to your report design.
Dynamic Parameter Setup6. Next, select Report > Select Expert, select the Customer Name field and click OK.7. Using the drop-down list beside select u201CIs Equal Tou201D and using the drop-down list, select your parameter field (it should be the first field). 8. Click OK to return to your report design and see the parameter dialog. The parameter dialog will appear and show you a dynamic list of values that is updated each time your run your report. It couldnu2019t be easier! In our next tutorial, we will be looking at how to use this feature to create cascading parameter fields, where the values are filtered by the preceding selection.
    Dynamic Parameters in Action
My question is that whether dynamic parameter is working with storedprocedure or not.
When i added one table and try to fetch records using dyanmic prameters. after that i am not be able to find the dynamic parameter option when i referesh my report.
One more thing when i try the static parameter for my report, the option i see when i referesh the screen.
Please reply soon , it's urgent

    Hi Kishore,
I have tested the issue step by step by following you description, while the first issue works well in my local environment. Based on my research, this can be caused by the lookup expression or it indeed return Male value based on the logic. If you use the
expression below, it will indeed only return the Male record. So please try to double-check the record in the two datasets and the expression in your environment:
    =lookup(first(Fields!ProgramID.Value,"DataSet1"),Fields!ProgramID.Value,Fields!Gender.Value,"DataSet2")
As to the second issue, please try to use the following expression:
    =Count(Lookup(fields!ProgramID.value,fields!ProgramID.value,fields!Gender.value,"DataSet2"))
Besides, if this issue still exist, in order to trouble shoot this issue more efficiently, could you please post both the .rdl  file with all the size properties to us by the following E-mail address?  It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

  • Creating Report using EPM Functions with Dynamic Filters

    Hi All,
I am new to BPC, In BPC 7.5 i seen like we can generate EPM report using EVDRE function very quickly and easy too. Is the same feature is existing in BPC 10.0 ? if no how can we create EPM reports using EPM Functions with Dynamic Filters on the Members of the dimension like in BPC 7.5.
And i searched in SDN, there is no suitable blogs or documents which are related to generation of Reports using EPM Functions. All are described just in simple syntax way. It is not going to be understand for the beginners.
Would you please specify in detail step by step.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Siva Nagaraju

    Siva,
These functions are not used to create reports per se but rather assist in building reports. For ex, you want to make use of certain property to derive any of the dimension members in one of your axes, you will use EPMMemberProperty. Similary, if you want to override members in any axis, you will make use of EPMDimensionOverride.
Also, EvDRE is not replacement of EPM functions. Rather, you simply create reports using report editor (drag and drop) and then make use of EPM functions to build your report. Forget EvDRE for now.
You can protect your report to not allow users to have that Edit Report enabled for them.
As Vadim rightly pointed out, start building some reports and then ask specific questions.
    Hope it clears your doubts.

  • How to create a dynamic tree report

    hi experts,
i have a requirement to create a dynamic tree report in OM module.
this report should show the number of people positions required in a org unit, and also the number of people available in a org unit.
There is something called as qualification catalog to which qualifications are attached, to these qualifications org units are attached, these org units will have some positions attached to it, and each of this position might have a person attached to it.
The user will enter the qualification catalog number in the selection screen for which he should be getting the result in a tree format which flows from qualification catalog to qualifications, from qualifications to org units, from orgunits to the total no of positions present in this orgunit and the no of positions occupied in the orgunit.
This is a challenging job as far as i am concerned.
Please suggest me a way to approach this,i promise to reward the answers.

  • How to create report with dynamic columns with static row labels

    Hi All,
I am creating one report as per attached format. I have labels on the right side of the report
and data in 3 columns. The data is taken dynamically from the command query.
It gets data from 3 different result sets/command queries.
I tried creating the report horizontally instead of vertically, but the logo image I am not able to rotate in 270degrees.
Can anybody tell me how to create the report...??

    Hi Abhilash,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
Actually the problem is with the image, as I am not able to rotate 270 degree. Crystal report cannot support the rotation of image.
i have another problem, I have to create a report in which
Lables are fixed on the left side of report and 3 columns per portrait page. Those columns are
dynamically created and shown in the report.
The format is like the above. Can you please help me in doing this report, as I tried it doing
with CrossTab. I am really stuck to this report.

  • Dynamic SQL for creating report in portal

Has anyone had to create report in Portal using dynamic sql. That is you build up the query commands depending on the parameters entered by the user.
E.g the columns displayed will be what the users has selected in the parameter form.
    Urgent reply please,
    Femi

    Hi,
You can use SQL based reports to do this. The report should have a bind variable. The bind variable is used for the users to enter their values and query is built using the value in the bind variable. The user should enter the value of the bind variable from the customization screen.
    Here is an example
    select * from scott.emp
    where deptno = :vdept
Here vdept appears in the customization screen and user should enter a value for this and run the report.
    Thanks,

  • How to create dynamic web report in 10G Grid Control

    Hi experts..
In OEM 9i, it provides a OEMgenerationServlet servlet to generate dynamic Web reports, my company uses the servlet to generate many OEM report, those reports cal also take parameters, such as dabatase name. the generated web reports are viewable to public end users. I am looking for a similar function in 10G Grid control...
Does anyone have the similar requirement, any suggestion will be highly appreciated..
    Regards,
    Jinsen

    Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I read about Clear and Purge from Oracle Doc about 10gR2, but nothing about R1. I drilled down all the way, can't find any thing to click for clear and purge. And I can't find anything from Oracle Doc, either.

  • PLSQL processing of a dynamic sql report

    Hi there,
I have a problem processing a dynamic sql report, specifically in referencing the PL/SQL column headings I have.
Basically I have a report that generates one row for each project a person belongs to, and then using htmldb_item.text creates one field for each day of the week (sysdate - sysdate+6) so that people can enter their hours worked. The idea is they then press a submit button and the hours are entered into a project table something like (date_worked, project_id, hours_worked), one row for each entry.
    So I have:
    for i in 1..HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01.count
    loop
... err... here I want to insert into the table the values(column_header, project_id, HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01(i)).. but I don't know how to access that column_header value.
Is this possible and if so, how?
    Many thanks,
    Tosh.

that gives me the values of the text fields, but what
I'd like to insert is the value of the column
header... so for example:Yes, I understood what you meant. I did have a differect project_id for each INSERT in my SQL above. I guess that should have been day_id
Since you are generating the tabular form SQL manually, you know which htmldb_item.text index corresponds to which column (which represents day_id in your case). So, use this to write 6 INSERT statements, one for each day. day_id would be a number going from 0 thru 6 where 0 represents Sunday and 6 represents Saturday.
Bottom line: This is like generating/updating a calendar, your column headings are always fixed (Sun thru Saturday), just the date they represent would change.

  • Uploading data from excel file to a dynamically created internal table

    Hi,
I have a requirement where i have to upload data from an excel file into a database table. I would be able to determine the structure of the table only at runtime based on the user input.. so i have created an internal table dynamically.
Could you please tell me if its possible to upload data from an excel file to the dynamically created internal table using any function modules?
I thought of doing this by declaring a generic internal table of one field and then uploading the *.csv file into it and then splitting it based on "," and then assigning it to the field symbol referencing the internal table.. but my file length exceeds 132 characters and i'm only able to get data of lenght 132 char's in my internal table ( generic one).
Could anyone please show me a way around this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Harsha

  • BPC 10.0- Creating report using dimension property filter

    Hi,
I created a new report in EPM addin for excel using the 'Filter Members by Properties' feature in the EPM Member Selector Window.
My requirement is as I add new members to my dimension with that property value , the report has to refresh and display the new member in the report.
The feature met my requirement and I saved the report. When I reopen the report, the filter that I had earlier used to create the report is hard coded with the members with those properties in the EPM selector Window.
As a result, when I add new Members to the dimension with that property , the report does not recognise that new member and my requirement does not meet.
Eg: I create report with Entity dimension across row axis and Product Dimension -filter on category  = New  across column axis
    and save the report.
When I reopen the report, I see that in the EPM Member selector window, across column axis the members with Property Value Category= Y - Product A,Product B, Product E are hard coded and the filter has been auto removed.
So when I add a new member to my product dimension Product N with property Category= New, the report does not recognise this member.
Please help on how can I use this feature to meet my requirement.
    Regards,
    Sowmya

    Hi,
It should work for newly created members which meets the requriement in member selector.
    Member filtering by properties:
Select property, operator and Value and click Add Dynamic filter then in the right window you will be able to see as follows:
    Member name                           Relation ship
    <property>=<Value>                 Property
    Hope it works,
    Thanks,
    Raju
