Dynamically generating a portion of my forms URL

Can I grab the PORT portion of the machine my form is running on? I'm able to resolve the IP Address using sys_context('userenv','ip_address'). I'd also like to grab the Port so I can supply it to the web.show_document built-in I use in my form. I use this built-in to call other stand-alone forms.
When I'm running my form from Form Builder on Windows during development then the Port needs to be :8889, but when I migrate the form to the UNIX server the Port needs to be :7777.
At run-time can I determine this Port value so I can simply pass it into my web.show_document statements? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
You can have a parameter table that holds this information, or you can also add environment variables in the /forms/server/default.env file, then query them in the Forms module via the TOOL_ENV.GETVAR() built-in.

  • Validate Dynamically Generated Form Fields

    Hello, I am having difficulty in validating some text boxes I dynamically generated using javascript.
    I have done the below which is not working..... giving errors of undefined or is null
    var i=rowNum;//value of the integer giving the form field a unique name
    var thefield =(eval(document.getElementById('xxxx_'+i).value));
    if (thefield =="")
    alert("xxxxxxxxxxxxx");
    This is not working. Any one has example of validating dynamically generated form fields?

  • HELP troubles with dynamically generated URLs

    I'm trying to integrate a new shopping cart, but DW CS4 can't follow the dynamic links in the template pages. They render fine in Live View. I can follow the CSS in the CSS Styles panel, but of course, it's not editable. Related files are far from complete and if I try to click on one, I get an error that the file can't be found.
    The templates all contain dynamically generated URLs such as:
    <?php include("${__TPL_DIR__}pages/templates/part.header.tpl.html"); ?>
    The .ini files used have site root relative references.
    Any ideas? Or am I stuck limping along?

    Thanks David,
    I found a few articles in the Developer Center that were helpful in understanding what I was looking at. The articles on creating Drupal and Wordpress themes explained how the pages are created dynamically, as well as how to use DW to modify and create themes. Though the specifics are different than what I am looking at, the concepts are similar. They also confirmed that attaching the relevant CSS files as design time style sheets was a practical workaround in the absence of an add-on to help DW understand the site structure. I was hoping that I had just not done something correctly, but I can live with a workaround, knowing that an "easier" way isn't just waiting for me to learn something about DW.

  • Dynamic Creation of UI in adobe forms??

    Hi Experts,
    I need to create a dynamic interactive form and dynamic UI elements in the interactive form.
    As per my requirement I need to display a pdf and I will be getting values from the RFC's. I need to show the form segments and the UI elements only when there's a data from the RFC else not. I am unable to understand whether this requirement needs generation of the UI elements dynamically or I can do it statically as well.
    The form thus generated will be having data from the RFC which based on the data quantity may exceed to n number of pages.
    In case it needs dynamic creation can you suggest me please how to achive it in interactive forms?
    Helpful answers will be appreciated.

    Hi,
    subForm1:-
    Flow content
    Allow page breaks
    Place: following previous-----> This means when you are repeating the subform the previous one should be followed.
    Say you have a table and have 3 columns in it.
    After 1st column is completed, the next column should come with 1st comun
    After: Continue filling parent--->Continously fill the data with the parent element
    Repeat sub form min count is 1 : Minimum of 1 line item will be printed
    Height: Expand to fit is true.: If the field height is increased it automatically expands.
    For help in Adobe Press F1 or Goto Help--> Adobe Designer Help in Adobe Designer
    After installing Adobe Designer, goto the specific folder
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Designer 8.0\EN you can get sample documents.
    For help press F1 after opening designer.
    Sub Form1: Content--> Flowed, Flow direction --> Top to bottom
                       Binding --> Check the checkbox Repeat Subform for each data item
    Subform 2: Content --> Positioned, No pagination No binding settings changes needed.
    Hey i forgot to mention the Header Subform where you create all these subforms should be flowed.
    Try it once like this and lte us know

  • Issue with emailing dynamically generated PDF (InteractiveForm UI element)

    Hi Experts ,
    I have a requirement according to which i need to generate PDF dynamically using webdynpro java and email the dynamically generated PDF.
    I am facing issue while emailing the dynamically genarated pdf.
    It gives me an exception :
    nested exception is: javax.mail.MessagingException: IOException while sending message;  nested exception is: java.io.IOException: no data
    This is because its unable to get the binary data (byte array) of the dynamically generated PDF which is required to send mail.
    Could some one suggest me how to fetch the binary data of the dynamically generated PDF.
    For dynamic PDF generation i am using dynamic generation of UI element   InteractiveForm UI Element
    In case of static PDF (i.e. the PDF genarated by inserting the InteractiveFrom Ui element on the view using the insert child option) we do set the pdf source property of Interactive Form UI element to a context variable attribute of type binary but  my problem is ,how to set the PDF source of a dynamically generated Interactive form UI element to a context variable attribute of type binary ..
    Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Frank ,
    the code to generate PDF dynamically is written in the WdDoModifyView section of the view as the PDF need to be generated dynamically., i.e. by adding InteractiveForm UI elements at  runtime.
    I tried the code suggested by you  but i gave mean exception.
    errorjava.io.FileNotFoundException:
    (The system cannot find the path specified)
    Kindly let me know where i am going wrong .
    Below is the code that i  had written in a separate method m_mail().
    This would take as input the name of the dynamically generated data node and is called from the wdDoModifyView section of the view
    public void m_mail( java.lang.String p_dynamicnodeName )
                   ByteArrayOutputStream templateSourceOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
              //        This would need to have the Templatefile in the Mimes-Directory of the Webdynpro-Component
                   String templateUrl = WDURLGenerator.getResourcePath(wdComponentAPI.getDeployableObjectPart(), "AdobeView1_InteractiveForm.xdp");
                   InputStream templateSourceInputStream = new FileInputStream(templateUrl);
                   IOUtil.write(templateSourceInputStream, templateSourceOutputStream);
                   IWDPDFDocumentCreationContext pdfContext = WDPDFDocumentFactory.getDocumentHandler().getDocumentCreationContext();
                   pdfContext.setData(WDInteractiveFormHelper.getContextDataAsStream(wdContext
                   .nodeCtx_vn_dynmcnd()
                   .getChildNode(p_dynamicnodeName, IWDNode.NO_SELECTION)));
                   pdfContext.setTemplate(templateSourceOutputStream);
                   pdfContext.setInteractive(false);
                   IWDPDFDocument pdf = pdfContext.execute();
                   if (pdf != null) {
                    pdfArray = pdf.getPDF();

  • Cross column radio group solution using dynamically generated HTML

    I am tasked with creating a screen in Apex matching look and feel of an existing application screen; tabular form, multiple column radio buttons to update a single column value (radio group needs to be row oriented, across multiple columns). I could not find a way to use HTMLDB_ITEM.RADIO_GROUP () function for this due to the radio group being column based, great as a row selector but not for use across columns (each button being a column).
    My first thought was to comprise and use checkboxes via HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX () for the multiple choices (in each column) and HTMLDB_ITEM.HIDDEN() to hold the chosen value, a JavaScript function for “onClick” event to make the checkboxes in one row act like radio buttons in a radio group. I created a simple application to show the concepts of my solutions …
    SQL looks like this:
    select pk_id, -- f01
    object_to_color, -- f02
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(11, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f11, ''RED'')"', 'RED') red,
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(12, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f12, ''BLUE'')"', 'BLUE') blue,
    HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX(13, color_choice,
    'onClick="chkboxAction('||pk_id||', document.wwv_flow.f13, ''GREEN'')"', 'GREEN') green,
    color_choice -- f03
    from objects_to_color
    Columns pk_id and color_choice are set as Show off and Display As Hidden. Note that my HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX items start with id number 11 (f11 – f13) so as not to conflict with the item id’s Apex will generate on it’s own. I could have used HTMLDB_ITEM functions to create all items and had my own PL/Sql update process.
    This creates a tabular presentation with a column for each color choice as a checkbox, shown checked if that color is initially set.
    The JavaScript function chkboxAction() clears the other checkboxes if a color is selected and stores the color in the hidden item db column for use in Apex Submit processing. Sorry the identation get's lost in the post!
    function chkboxAction (id, ckbx, color) {
    // f01 is pk_id (hidden)
    // f11 is RED checkbox
    // f12 is BLUE checkbox
    // f13 is GREEN checkbox
    // f03 db column color_choice for update (hidden)
    var idx;
    // Find row index using pk_id passed in as id argument.
    for (var i=0; i < document.wwv_flow.f01.length; i++) {
    if (document.wwv_flow.f01.value == id) {
    idx = i;
    i = document.wwv_flow.f01.length;
    if (ckbx(idx).checked == true) {
    // Set hidden color_choice column value to be used in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = color;
    // Uncheck them all, then reset the one chosen.
    document.wwv_flow.f11(idx).checked = false;
    document.wwv_flow.f12(idx).checked = false;
    document.wwv_flow.f13(idx).checked = false;
    ckbx(idx).checked = true;
    } else {
    // Unchecked so clear color_choice column value to be used in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = '';
    This works well and, as an aside, has an added feature that the color can be “unchosen” by unchecking a checked checkbox and leaving all checkboxes unchecked. This cannot be done with radio buttons unless a radio button is added as “no color”.
    But what if radio buttons must be used, as in my situation? Here is another solution using custom code to dynamically generate radio buttons for a row based radio group rather than using HTMLDB_ITEM.RADIO_GROUP ().
    select pk_id, -- f01
    object_to_color, -- f02
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_1" value="RED" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'RED', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''RED'')">' red,
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_2" value="BLUE" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'BLUE', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''BLUE'')">' blue,
    '<input type="radio" name="rb'||pk_id||'" id="rb'||pk_id||'_3" value="GREEN" '||
    decode(color_choice, 'GREEN', 'CHECKED', '')||
    ' onClick="rbAction('||pk_id||', ''GREEN'')">' green,
    color_choice -- f03
    from objects_to_color
    The pk_id column is used here to ensure a unique name and unique id for the items. In practice a custom api should be used to generate items in this way.
    The JavaScript function is actually simpler for radio buttons because the radio group handles the mutually exclusive logic for choosing a color.
    function rbAction (id, color) {
    // f01 is pk_id (hidden)
    // f03 db column color_choice for update (hidden)
    var idx;
    // Find row index using evaluation_question_id.
    for (var i=0; i < document.wwv_flow.f01.length; i++) {
    if (document.wwv_flow.f01.value == id) {
    idx = i;
    i = document.wwv_flow.f01.length;
    // Set hidden result column referenced in update.
    document.wwv_flow.f03(idx).value = color;
    Now the problem is that on update, Apex will be confused by the custom items and try to post updated values to it’s own internal items – which don’t exist. The result is the very frustrating HTTP 404 - File not found error when apex/wwv_flow.accept executes on Submit. So, the trick is to clear the custom items prior to the update with a simple JavaScript function, then the values show again when the page is rerendered, if you are not branching from the page. The Submit button is changed to call the following function:
    function submit () {
    var items = document.getElementsByTagName("INPUT");
    for (i=0; i< items.length; i++) {
    if (items(i).type == "radio") {
    if (items(i).checked == true)
    items(i).checked = false;
    doSubmit('SUBMIT');
    This technique might have general use when using custom items. Comments or improvements on this?

  • Need dynamically generated ( in PL/SQL) Month in column header.

    Hello,
    I need to dynamically display the month in a column header and have tried using PL/SQL . I can paste following in the "Column Atributes" PL/SQL heading type to show names in the column headings:
    return 'RESOURCE_NAME:TEAM:PROJECT'
    but I need to show a column heading that changes each month. I can get the month to show in a region this way: htp.p(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'Month'))
    but when I try to combine the two like this:
    return 'RESOURCE_NAME:TEAM:PROJECT:htp.p(TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'Month'))'
    and put it in the column header, I get a mess.
    Please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

    Hello Dimitri,
    Your solution to dynamically generating the Month in a column header worked out great!
    Well, now I am trying to do the same in a lable of a form page. I try going to the Edit Page Item page (Home>Application Builder>Application 135>Page 8>Edit Page Item) and paste the same code on the "Source" and select "PL/SQL Function Body" but do not have any luck.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Dynamic navigation, on HCM Process and Forms "Web Dynpro FORM"

    Hi,
    I'm trying to solve an issue regarding dynamic navigation, on a enhacement done at the Web Dynpro ABAP QISR_UI component for HCM Process and Forms.
    I'm hiding the Adobe Form, and doing "do_dynamic_navigation" for a dynamic generated view container present at the VIEWSHOWFORM on the QISR_UI component.
    The code works great, i.e.: the Adobe Form remains hidden and the custom form, using Web Dynpro appears.
    I'm also using the HRASR00_PROCESS_EXECUTE_1 component to execute a Portal IView (Floorplan based component).
    When the process is started, and the folowing actions are executed:
    1- Select Employee
    2- Select Process
    3- Edit form
    4- Press back (for example if the wrong process is selected)

    Hello,
    Basically what I did was replacing the Adobe Form, by a Web Dynpro component that contains its own form, and associated logic.
    Tecnically the steps to acomplish the task were:
    1º Development of a component for showing a form. ( I suggest you to start with just a "hello world" or something very basic )
    2º Enhance the QISR_UI component (VIEWSHOWFORM view, on the modify view method), something like
    if form scenario = XXXXX then
    hide the adobe form;
    create a custom view container (the problem I had above), and create an instance of the component created on step 1
    end if
    3º Access the context that the original form returns (you can check the context debugging the VIEWSHORFORM view )
    4º Pass the context to the component created..
    I can't provide further details on this, I'm sorry...
    I do not suggest doing this, this was a requirement so I had to do it... But this requires a lot of workarrounds, and lots of small changes in standard code related with process and forms... It's not, also, a "clean" solution

  • Dynamically Generating Charts

    I need to be able to generate charts in APEX 3.01 from a SQL query which doesn't exist until it's built at runtime.
    The query is of the form:
    SELECT null link, x label, count(*) value FROM y table GROUP BY label, value ORDER BY 3 DESC
    x and y are the dynamically generated bits. I build the query using a PL/SQL anon block:
    DECLARE
    myquery VARCHAR2(4000);
    BEGIN
    myquery := 'select null link,';
    myquery := myquery || :P39_MYCHARTQUERY;
    myquery := myquery || ' label, count(*) value from ';
    myquery := myquery || :P39_MYCHARTTABLE;
    myquery := myquery || ' group by label, value';
    myquery := myquery || ' order by value desc';
    htp.print(myquery);
    END;
    The problem is, APEX charts will only accept a straight SQL query, not a PL/SQL block. I've tried putting the block into a hidden field (Display as Text, PLSQL version) and referencing it using substitution strings (&variable_name. style), but this doesn't seem to work. APEX is complaining about my generated SQL query:
    "Error in rendering chart: ORA-06561: given statement is not supported by package DBMS_SQL"
    The SQL looks correct. I have no idea what the problem is. Can anyone help?

    That's an interesting blog post. I'll have to dig around in SQL Workshop to see how to implement it. Modifying it to be multi-variable looks like it shouldn't be too difficult. Teaching myself about what packages are and how to use them will be the hard part.

  • Acessing dynamic generated checkBoxes

    Hello:
    I have a page with a unknown number of checkBoxes
    <af:forEach var="chart" items="#{row.charts}">
    <af:panelGroup type="horizontal" inlineStyle="text-align:center;">
    <af:outputText value="#{chart.week}"/>
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox id="chartweek"/>
    </af:panelGroup>
    </af:panelGroup>
    </af:forEach>
    Since these are dynamic generated, i don't have any back-end counterparts, so what i want is to access a array of all the checkBox components in order to see if they are checked and if they are to get their ID?
    So my question is, how can i get all components on a Form from the back-end Java code?
    Thanks a lot.

    I am trying to use the selectManyCheckBox and can't figure it out. I tried using the same type of logic as the SelectManyShuttle in the srdemo, but can't get it to work. The checking of values works (those get populated is my list of selected), but the unchecking doesn't seem to happen (even after unchecking they show up in my list of selected). How did you build the list of booleans?
    Thanks,
    Doug

  • Accessing Dynamically Generated Spry Checkboxes

    I've got a list with checkboxes that is generated with a data
    set. When the user checks some boxes and clicks "Assign" I need the
    assign function to run, serializing the checkbox values and running
    an ajax update. However, when I run my loop in the function to add
    each checkbox to an array, I always get the value of the checkbox
    as undefined....and the length as well.....I'm wondering, if a
    checkbox is generated dynamically in a Spry repeat region, does it
    get added to the DOM? Am I missing something?

    Let me try to make that more understandable.
    I have 2 forms. 1 Form contains a repeating Spry list that
    generates checkboxes. The ID's and Value's of the checkboxes are
    dynamically generated based on the dataset.
    My 2nd form is a dummy form, just one I built to test - no
    spry, no nothing - just 3 check boxes with the same names and
    different values.
    When I run my function based on the dummy form, it does
    everything I want it to. When I run the form on the Spry form, it
    breaks.
    I inspected the element w/ Safari and saw the Source still
    shows the Spry code, however, the DOM shows the executed Spry
    (there's really multiple checkboxes).
    Has anybody else run into this type of problem? It's driving
    me nuts and I'm 21 hours past deadline.

  • Dynamically generate a file

    I'm trying to create a page which dynamically generates an xml file from a form, then allow the user to download that file into their computer. Check http://www.binsearch.info for example (after typing in a search query, check one checkbox and hit "Create NZB"). Does anyone know how I can do this?

    Hi Jyeragi,
    To convert the data to the SQL table format, please try this function out-sql:
    out-sql Powershell function - export pipeline contents to a new SQL Server table
