Dynamically get parameters names of a Step Type

Hello everybody,
I am coding the ProcessModelPreStep in order to have access to each step of the running sequence, before it has been execute. With the following expression I access to the type name of the step:
Locals.Type_Name = RunState.Caller.Step.StepType
But I can't find the expression to get access to all the parameter names of the step type.
Does somebody know such an expression to do that ?
Thanks you !

Ok, the parameters are connected to the code modules, hence to the module adapter.
The data involved for the adapter is stored in a hidden container called "TS" within the step. In order to see this container, you have to check the "Show hidden properties" option in the preferences of your Station Options. The TS container includes a variable called "SData".
Depending on the adapter, within the SData container, you can find your parameters.
hope this helps,
Norbert

  • How do I get the names of tracks I type in Adobe Audition 3 to copy to the Sony CD-RW CRX217E in myD

How do I get the names of tracks I type in Adobe Audition 3 to copy to the Sony CD-RW CRX217E in my Dell Precision Workstation 670?
I have recorded 10 tracks of voice with music using Adobe Audition 3 and Sony CD-RW CRX217E with no problem.
The problem is, however, that the names I type in Audition 3 for each of the tracks and artist do not copy to the CD I have recorded. This means that when I play the tracks on any playback equipment that shows the names of the tracks and artists, etc. all that appears on the screen is the track number, such as Track 1, Track 2, etc.
I am using a Dell Precision Workstation 670

Well, there is one possibility, but I can't absolutely confirm this. I had a look at the specification for the drive on the Dell website:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/P89087/en/index.htm
and nowhere does it say that the drive supports CD-Text, I'm afraid. Even though all drives can in theory write this, a lot have the header hard-coded, and simply can't. Yours may be one of them, but I think you'll have to ask Dell to confirm this.

  • How to change Group-name of custom step-type?

    Hello,
    i´m using TS4.1 and miss a input-parameter which was avaiulable in TS3.5.
I have some labview-vis which should be TS-teststeps and they all shoul be placed in a group.
Do do this i open the "Types" and select one of my created types. The i rightclick the step and select properties.
In the tab "Menu" i can set a name for the step BUT the parameter to set the Group is no more available?
This was also in the Tab Menu in TS 3.5 but now in TS4.1 there is only Item-name.
Where can i set the Group-name od my steps?
    Thx

    Hi!
Now you can go in the Insertion Palette in TS 4.1 (the Step Palette on the left side) and right click on Customize... (see attachement)
There you have the menu where you can change the group for all steps in the palette.
So now you have the possibility to change, create and move groups inside your palette.

  • Getting the class of a primitive type or void

    Hello,
Class.forName cannot be used to get the class of a primitive type or void. What does then ???
I thought of defining a class for each primitive type and override getClass() to return the required type, but getClass() is final ...
    Please help

I don't understand what you mean e.g.I get the name of the primitive type at runtime and need to convert it to a class. For example, Class.forName("byte") returns byte.class. But, unfortunately, Class.forName() doesn't return classes of primitives or void.
I already solved the problem through putting ptimitive classes in a hashtable. But I was wondering if there is a simpler solution !!!

  • Get 2 attachments in Activity step in workflow...

    Hi All,
I want to send two attachments in executable task in SBWP.
One is to display the details of PR via ME53N and other attachment is to release the PR from ME54N.
I want both the attachments in a single task.
I am able to send one attachment to display the PR by binding the BO of PR to container in task as the default method set is DISPLAY.
Now to release the PR, do i need to change the default method of BO.
If yes, then it'l not work for custom display method.
Please suggest what is the procedure to achieve the same.
There may come the requirement that we need one more attachment in the task to see the structure of custom Approvers table via SE11.
    Regards,
    Guddan

    Hi Rick and Rob,
I followed your suggestions but still the issue is not resolved.
@Rob : If i do the thinga as said by you then I will be first able to display the PR and then release it from ME54N.
But that's not my requirement exactly. I just want 2 links in my activity step type. The user can click any one of them.
@Rick : I followed you but even if i do the binding with 2 different BO having 2 different default methods, till then i am not
getting 2 links in activity step type. I am getting link only to display PR.
NOTE : This is just my R&D topic. I am just trying to explore this option of getting 2 links in activity step type. I even don't know   whether it is possible or not. So we can consider 2 links for any 2 TCodes , say ME53N and SE11.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Dynamic alert messages in BPM control step not getting created

    Hi All,
in transaction ALRTCATDEF, i have specified dynamic text for my alert category...........
in my BPM there are 3 control steps.....and i am using this alert category in all of my BPM 3 control steps..... but the alert messages in my 3 control steps are different.........But these alert messages(which i am giving in BPM) is not coming in the alert mail in alert inbox but it gives the common message in long text(which i gave in long text while defining the alert category)......
<b>So can anybody suggest me why my BPM alert message is not coming in the alert generated by BPM control step in the alert inbox of runtime workbench.</b>
    Thanks,
    Rajeev Gupta

    Hi Rajeev,
Please check if you have done the following steps:-
check the dynamic text box available in alrtcatdef transaction, while creating the alert.
In the bpm, create a variable of simple type in a container
Included the container operation and the control step.
For the container operation - give the right simple type variable container
For the control step, specify the correct alert category (this should be the one for which the dynamic text is enabled)
The alert message that you specify here should have text which will be seen when the alert raised
*To capture the dynamic alert in the alert message, which is caught by the container step in the bpm....you will have to give the name of the simple type variable
    between two ampersands(&).
"But these alert messages(which i am giving in BPM) is not coming in the alert mail in alert inbox but it gives the common message in long text(which i gave in long text while defining the alert category)......"
On checking the dynamic text option in the alert category defined, you will not have the option of giving a message in the long text. So, there is no way that the long text can be seen - 'cuz you are not defining it in the first place! Hence, either you have given the wrong alert category in the bpm or have not cheked the dynamic text option.

  • When i run a sequence with ivi step types in simulation mode i get the error code number BFFA0015 - Types do not match.

When i run the sequence with ivi step types in simulation mode i get the error Types do not mathc. The step that generates this error is an IviScope step type and is configured as a measurement. Th weird thing is that in real mode is working perfectly. I have three measure steps and i get the error in all of them. The exact error message is:
UUT Result: Error, Error executing substep 'Post'. An exception occurred calling 'RunStep' in 'ISubstep' of 'TestStand Ivi Step Types 1.0 Type Library' An error occurred while executing the step. Component Works IVI Control Error: The IVI Read operation failed on channel '1' for logical name 'SampleScope'. Details: (1
) Types do not match. [IVI Error Code: BFFA0015] Source: TSIviStepTypes [Error Code: -30721, User-defined error code.]
Can someone tell me how to fix this problem?. It seems to me that the simulation generates a diferent type of measurement of that generated in real mode.

    Update:
The simulation driver appears to be raising the error. By switching to specific driver simulation the error does not occur. This may be a problem in either the class simulation driver or the specific driver.

  • Stationglobals in a Labview custom step type inside a new thread do not get updated

    Hi,
I have a Custom Step type which I use to pass parameters to TestStand from a VI and vice-versa through some step fields. I run the VI inside a sequence in a new thread and expect the VI to update the parameters when I change them through the TestStand StationGlobals.
For example, I have a waveform injection custom step. I want to continuously inject a signal while I do some measurements on it. So, I put this step type in a sequence and ran it in a new thread.
I pass the VI parameter 'Stop_Injection' through a step field as shown in image 1. And I expect the step field to get updated when the new thread is run continuously by passing the corresponding stationglobal in the Pre-expression of the custom step (image 2). But this fails to happen. The VI does not get updated.
On the other hand, if I do not bother with the step field and directly pass the stationglobal (figure 3), it works perfectly.
Any idea why this is happening?
I hope I was clear in my question.

    Hi,
In image 3 you are linked directly to the StationGlobal of which you are continually updating therefore seeing the changes.
In the other you are only linked to the Step.Stop_Injection and are only updating this valve from the stationglobals once in the pre-expression. You are not changing the reference.

  • Know steps names of called sequence file using sequence call step type in TestStand

    Hi,
I have a problem in accessing step names in called sequence file using "Sequence call"step type in TestStand 4.0.
I would list out all step names of called sequence file. Is it possible to do through C#.NET? If, yes, Please explain to me in detail with possible example.
    Thank you,
    regards
    RKK

    Hey RKK,
I want to first set your expectations for the forums.  This is not a place for people to review and rewrite your code for you; this is a place for specific and general questions.  I am not saying your question in this thread is inappropriate, because it is a good questions.  We should just not post code and ask others to fix it here.  If you are looking for this type of service we have alliance members that can help you write your TestStand Operator Interface (www.ni.com/alliance).
As for you question about getting the sequence names for a sequence file that is not the currently running sequence file, you will need to open a reference to that sequence files and then use the API calls that I mentioned in my previous posts.  You can use the Enigine.GetSequenceFileEx function to open a reference to sequence file, and you will need to close the reference with the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFile function when you are done using it.  After you have a reference to this external Sequence File, you can use the example dll and sequence I previously sent you.  I also attach a new sequence file (SeqFile2.seq) plus an updated GetNames.seq to illustrate how to use the above mentioned functions.  I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

  • Getting Sequence object from pre-step substep of Sequence Call based step type

How to obtain reference to Sequence object from within pre-step substep of Sequence Call based custom step type?
Given: new custom step type which based on NI Sequence Call step type. There is Pre-Step substep exist for this step type.
How to get reference to Sequence object representing Sequence which will run?
Although there is possible to examine SequenceAdapter and SequenceCallModule properties, it seems redundant since module (Sequence) is already loaded by TestStand ("NI TestStand Reference Manual. Table 3-4. Order of Actions that a Step Performs"   Action #6, while my code is running as Action #13).
    Thanks.
    Misha

Could you explain what you want to do ?
Why do you want to get the sequence object within a pre-step substep ?
I give you some informations but I don't know if it's the better way to do what you want (because I don't know what you want to do with the sequence object).
If the substep uses the ActiveX adapter :
You can get the sequence object but you should save the object reference in a StationGlobals variable.
And you should release the object reference within your sequence when you don't need it any more.
If the substep uses another module adapter:
Get the step module, then the sequence name (module property).
Then get the sequence object by the sequence name from the sequence file.
Here are the paths to use for both methods :
Sequence Name property path : Step.Module.SeqName
Sequence Object path : RunState.SequenceFile.GetSequenceByName (seqname)

  • Get Name of Future Step in TestStand Sequence

    Hello All,
Working on a sequence of numeric limit tests, and need to set the limits programatically, based on an imported configuration file.  I use a simple action call to set the limits with a code module (TestStand Set Property Value function), but in order to make the code module reusable, I need to pass in the step name for the test step it applies to, each time I call it.  The problem is that the step that each limit applies to is several steps later in the sequence.  I know that I can get the name of the next step (RunState.NextStep.Name) but need to know if it is possible to get names of later steps as well.  I'm guessing it may have something to do with the "NextStepIndex" function, but can't seem to get the context right.  Please advise.  Thanks in advance.
    GSinMN

    Figured it out myself.
    Locals."Variable To Set" = RunState.Sequence.GetStep((RunState.Sequence.GetStepIndex(Step.Name, StepGroup_Main))+"Number of steps in Future",StepGroup_Main).Name
Where "variable to set" is the name of the variable you are assigning the step name to and "number of steps in future" is an integer that represents the index with respect to the current step (i.e. 2 would mean the second step after the current step).

  • Why do I get error -17500 when calling a batch file using the call executable step type?

I am calling a batch file using the call executable step type. If the path to the batch file contains a space I get error -17500 and a message stating there was an error in "Post". For example the path to the batch file is "c:\TestWin\Test Files\...\Program.bat" When I run this I get the above mentioned error, however if I change my directory structure so the path is now "c:\TestWin\TestFiles\...\Program.bat" it runs fine. I use the browse feature to find my batch file so it is not me typing in a path incorrectly. I have removed the batch file and I get a different error stating that it couldn't find the file so it appears that for my error it can find the file but can't run it. I am
sure that this has something to do with the fact that batch files are written in DOS but really don't want to resort to changing my directory structure on all my test stations. Is there any way to fix this problem so I can leave a space in my path?

It appears I have figured it out. This was on another computer so I was unaware of how they used their computer. I like you got it to work in the temp directory and in fact got the program.bat file to work as long as I put it under the temp directory, but when I switched out to my TestWin directory it wouldn't work, so I removed everything from the directory except the batch file it self and it work. What I found out after adding files in one at a time is that the person had a file called "Test" with no file extension in there "c:\TestWin\" directory. Removing this file made it work. Putting the file back broke it. So it appeares that when teststand was running it followed the path saw a space and attempted to grab the "Test" file instead of bro
wsing into the "Test Files" directory. If you create a file in your temp directory called "temp" with no file extension you will see the same problem. Thank you for your help.
