E business suite module

Hi,
I am new to EBS field and i wanted to learn EBS financials. which is the popular module available in market I mean which is the best one to go for ?
Please help
thanks

Most of the ebs financials systems I've worked on have included the GL module, AR and AP are pretty common too. If you have an aspect of financials you are already familiar with, or a particular interest in one of the aspects of financials, that would be the best one to start with, as you have some previous knowledge or interest. There are a lot of modules that don't fall under the traditional "financials" designation, such as HR, Manufacturing, etc. that could be of interest to you as well.
Are you looking to learn it from the technical (programming) or functional (using the system) perspective? You need to know which angle you're looking at it from, as the skill sets are different, as are the positions people with these skills hold.
As far as easy and quick to learn - in my opinion none of them are easy and quick to learn, so you just need to pick one and systematically work on learning it. I've been doing this since 1998 and I still learn something new every day. The data model is complex and often the concepts are not obvious on first look. Utilize the documentation available on OTN / Metalink / blogs by ebs people / etc. to gather knowledge.
Good luck!

• How to integrate Oracle Policy Automation (OPA) with E-Business Suite

Hi All,
we would like to know, how to integrate OPA to E-Business Suite Modules. we would like to integrate OPA to one of our Public Sector Client.
Any Pointers / links / documentation, please mail to me on my id: [email protected] or you can call me on my mobile: +91 99897 18865
Regards
Chandra

My understanding is that the standard EBS web service framework can be used to make calls to the OPA Determinations Server, and this is fairly straightforward.
If anyone has direct experience in this area, it would be good to hear from them.

• ODI 11.1 RKM E-Business Suite Knowledge Module??

I downloaded and installed the companion, I see many knowledge modules but not the "RKM E-Business Suite" Knowledge Module..
The documentation refers specifically to it by that name. Does it go by another name in ODI 11.1.1?
Thank you,
Jz

Which companion have you downloaded. I recently downloaded Oracle Data Integrator Companion 11gR1 (11.1.1.5.2) version and that has got RKM E-Business Suite.

• SAP Business Suite - covered modules

Dear SCN Members,
I want to know which are the modules covered in SAP BUSINESS SUITE
Await quick response
Thanks,
Thulasidass

Thulasidass,
In general the Suite is a set of SAP applications, like ERP aka ECC, SRM, CRM etc.. Each applications has different modules and submodules, e.g. FI for Financials and FI-AR for accounts receivables.
Each application has enhancement packs EHP's, which have new functionality for the individual modules, or new modules.
Then there are add-ons, like SCM, which can run stand-alone or as an add-on to ERP, means using the same DDIC - Data Dictionary.
sFIN is also available as an add-on for ERP, but only for ERP on HANA.
In general, as sometimes you will find mix-ups even in SAP documents, or exceptions.
The easiest way is to go to SAP help SAP Business Suite – SAP Help Portal Page, if your interested in more details for Suite on HANA, you might find this webpage useful: Business Suite and S/4HANA Roadmap and Release Information
Thank you

• API for creating new User in Oracle E-Business Suite through BPEL

Hello,
I would like to use a BPEL process to create a new User in Oracle E-Business Suite. In the Integration Repository I was able to find an API called FND_USER_PKG/LOAD_ROW that creates/updates Application's User data. Is this the API I should be using? If so, I would like to better understand how to use this API.
I have created a simple BPEL process and added an Oracle Application Service, which uses this FND_USER_PKG/LOAD_ROW API. I set the following parameter before Invoking the Oracle Application Service: X_USER_NAME, X_ENCRYPTED_USER_PASSWORD and X_START_DATE. When I run the BPEL process I get the following error. I suspect that I am not passing all the required input parameters. Does anyone have any sample data I can use to get this API to load correctly? If I am using the wrong API, please let me know.
Please note, I have also posted this question to the SOA Suite and BPEL discussion forums...
Thank you kindly!

Hello and thank you for your response. I am new to using APIs so please excuse my inexperience... I am not sure how to run the API outside of BPEL... Is that something you could easily walk me through?
I have made the following changes in BPEL based on your recommendation: 1) Added Oracle Application Service and used the API, LDAP_WRAPPER_CREATE_USER, found in the Oracle Application Module Browser* under: Applications Technology (ATG_PF)> User Management (UMX)> User (FND_USER)> PLSQL> User (FND_USER_PKG)> LDAP_WRAPPER_CREATE_USER
2) Set the following parameter prior to Invoking the Oracle App Service: X_USER_NAME, X_UNENCRYPTED_PASSWORD,X_START_DATE, X_END_DATE, X_DESCRIPTION, X_EMAIL_ADDRESS, X_FAX, X_EXPIRE_PWD.
3) Deploy and run BPEL through BPEL Control.
I get the following {color:#ff0000}error on the Invoke{color}. {color:#339966}Do you see any issues with the values I am passing in the input{color}? Any idea why I am getting this error? Is there anything that I need to have configured for the API to work correctly, other than adding an Oracle Application Service in the BPEL?
Thank you for your time,

Hello All,
I am currently new to OEM 12c, and I have the latest version installed and running, Version 12.1.0.2.0. Hello,
I haven’t run into the same errors you have reported but, let me share with you our recommended way of installing E-Business Suite Plug-in. Start by referencing our “Getting Start” MOS note 1434392.1it contains all the required patches, certification details, and related documentation. Once you are ready to perform the install start out by reviewing Chapter 2 - Installing the Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite of our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release 12.1.0.1.0. Here is a direct link -http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e28715.pdf
If after following the above steps you are still encountering errors then open a Service Request with Oracle Support.

• PL/SQL API for Creating Sales Order in E Business Suite from BPEL

Hi,
I am new to Oracle SOA 11g.
I have done the Deleting Sales Order using PL/SQL API ( Oracle Apps Adapter ) [ API Name: OE_ORDER_PUB.DELETE_ORDER ]. While executing the BPEL, it is correctly deleting Sales Order in E Business Suite which is created EBS User Interface. I don't face any problem while deleting the sales order.
Now, in same way, I have to create a new Sales Order using PL/SQL API. I don't find any API's related to creating Sales Order in Order Management Suite (OM_PF) -->Order Management (ONT) --> Sales Order (ONT_SALES_ORDER) --> PL/SQL --> Process Order API (OE_ORDER_PUB) in Module Browser.
Please tell me which PL/SQL API to use to create new Sales Order in BPEL.
Thanks,

You may be on a different patch level. Can you ensure that you have applied all latest patches for your version?

• What are your top 10 issues to upgrade E-Business Suite

Hi everyone,
My name is Max Arderius, Product Manager for Life Cycle Management products in Oracle. We are doing a big effort to help customers to simplify their E-Business Suite upgrade. We are trying to collect all the information we can to identify the top issues that customers are facing before, during or after E-Business Suite upgrades. We are really committed to address all possible issues and so we can prevent usual problems, showstoppers, inconveniences, lack of documentation and other technical difficulties.
What would you say are your top 10 issues that faced to upgrade to R12? Or what would you like Oracle to address in the near future to make your life easier?
I am looking forward for your postings! Thanks!
Max

Hi Max ! Hope you are well :-)
One thing that I assume most folks would find useful is a pre-upgrade script that can do some basic checks to identify any potential issues that need to be addressed before the upgrade starts.
A simple example is documented in MOS Doc 802515.1 (R12 Upgrade: Workers Fail In Apstca01.Sql) - the profile option in our system was set to NULL (the default) and the apstca01.sql failed in the middle of the first test upgrade - not a big issue, but would have been nice to have this corrected before the upgrade.
I am sure that are hundreds of such "gotchas" from all the various modules :-)
This script is almost analogous to the database pre-upgrade script/tool (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/upgrade.htm#UPGRD12395) that performs some checks and makes recommendations.
Thanks

• E-Business Suite - BizTalk Server Integrations

Our organization is implementing BizTalk Server 2010 to facilitate communication with an ERP under development in an Oracle E-Business Suite r12.1 “On Demand” environment. Some of the modules being developed in E-Business Suite include Payroll, Advanced Benefits, Human Resources, and AP. We are seeking information from anyone who has done something like this. In particular, we would like to know more about exposing and consuming web services to accomplish this integration. Our IT Department will be able to develop its own web services and BizTalk applications within our own domain, but we do not have experience with Oracle E-Business Suite. We understand that the Integration Repository/SOA Gateway may be used to expose some APIs but not all of them. We also understand there may be security and other issues with Oracle functionality that BizTalk adapters for E-Business Suite would have no knowledge of. To summarize, we need to know: (1) if integration between E-Business Suite and outside systems using web services and/or BizTalk has been achieved by anyone in this forum, and (2) if so, how the integration was achieved.

I think your concern is due to externally hosted EBS so that you need to find a secure way of integrating your applications hosted in your datacenter with it. The key here is to have a relaibale network infrastructure - either have dedicated network lines between your data center and on demand or have some high quality VPN between them. If you have this in place, you can treat EBS as another of your internal apps and apply the same security standards as your other internal apps if it is also supported by ebs.

• How to Unlicensed E-business suite product ?

Hi,
How to Unlicensed E-business suite product module ?
If I want to take off CASH management which is currently showing as licensed product like that.
Thanks

Hi,
There is no direct way to achieve this, so you will have to restore the application/database files from a backup before this module was licensed. If you cannot afford this solution, please log a SR and see if Oracle support would suggest any workaround.
Note: Please do not update any table manually unless you are instructed to do so by Oracle Support.

• SAP Applications and Business Suite Installed on an SAP System

Hi to all SAP gurus,
I have a couple of questions:-
1) Is there any way to find out about the SAP applications installed on an SAP system? I used CCMS to find out about the Installed SAP
components. But does this list give the correct information? Also, can we find out which are the major and minor components from this list?
2) Can there be more than one business suite (CRM, SRM, SCM etc.) installed on a single SAP system? Or is it always the case that a single SAP system can have only one business suite installed on it so that it can either be a CRM system, SRM system or something else.
3) Is there any way (Any database table or RFC function) I can find out out about the business suite installed on a particular SAP system? One thing I saw in SAP GUI is that the title bar reads "Customer Relationship Management" if it is a CRM system. Is this a fool-proof way to find out whether an SAP system is a CRM system, SRM system etc. If yes, will this information be stored in a database table or is there any RFC function so that I can get this data programatically?
Please bear with my BIG questions. I would be grateful if any of you guys can help me on these questions. Please let me know if I have to provide clarity on any of my queries. Thanks in advance

Hi Mike,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
I did some research towards this as suggested by you.
1) I tried out SPAM. But this is giving more or less the same information that I am already getting using the database table "CVERS" or the RFC function module "DELIVERY_GET_INSTALLED_COMPS". Both of these give information about the installed SAP components. But these modules don't give the precise information as to which particular business suite application is installed on the SAP system.
2) I checked out the site -http://service.sap.com/instguides but couldn't get much help on here. I couldn't exactly get any information about the combinations of the business suite applications
that can be installed on an SAP system.
However, I was curious about one thing which I observed on my SAP system. The SAP GUI title bar reads "SAP Easy Access Customer Relationship Management". Can we be come to a conclusion that this is an SAP system with CRM installed on it?
Also, the installed components for this system lists "BBPCRM" as one of the application component. Can we say that this is a CRM system by looking at this? If yes, are you aware of such a similar component for the other applications SRM, PLM, SCM which tells us about the business suite application installed on the SAP system?
3) I did some rigorous search for RFC function modules that give the information I need. I came across 2 RFC function modules which give information on the SAP applications installed on an SAP system:-
a) TERM_GET_TOPLEVEL_COMPONENTS
b) SKWF_APPLS_GET
The function module "TERM_GET_TOPLEVEL_COMPONENTS" is showing a list of business suite applications installed but I am not sure if it's giving the correct information because it shows both CRM and SRM in the applications list for an SAP system.
I'd be most interested for your further suggestions regarding this.
Thanks again
- John

• Fax and SMS from E-Business Suite

I am currently working on the implementation of HRMS and finance
modules from the E-business suite. My question is, Is it
possible to fax or SMS from these core modules, if so how is
this achieved if using Microsoft exchange, is there any relevant
documentation around
Thanks
Mark

While I am not aware of any standard published means to do so, you can also think of triggering a Java code to instantiate the business event.
A non-intrusive approach could be.
1. Have a Java Business Event Subscription to the Item-create/update event.
2. Make API calls to the BPEL invocation code from this Java BPES. (The OTN BPEL tutorials have sample code)
However, there is a risk that the Java client classes required for invoking BPEL processes may not be part of the middle-tier JAVA classpath. ($AF_CLASSPATH in adovars.env). You need to check with techstack team in case you run into issues and need additional jars in the classpath.
Alternatively,
3. Create a seeded JMS queue in apps
4. You can publish a message to a JMS AQ Queue from your Java BES code
5. Have a JMS adapter to trigger your BPEL process.
Alternatively, (probably not what you want)
1. Create a new interface table to store BPEL invocation requests.
2. Have a DB polling on this table.
3. Maintain status of BPEL process also in this table.
4. Purge "success" records from this table at regular intervals. This will keep your DB polling non-intrusive from your actual process flow in apps.

• Oracle ADF security integration with Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS

I have an Oracle ADF 11.1.2.2 application that is using ADF security for authentication and authorization.
When we deploy this application to our JDeveloper integrated weblogic server, we utilize the security setting of "Custom" and use weblogic users and roles to map to the ADF application roles. In that environment our security is working properly.
I have a Weblogic 10.3.5 standalone server that has the ADF runtime installed as well as the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS implementation installed.
When I deploy the Oracle ADF application to the standalone weblogic server, I am directed to the JAAS login page when I attempt to access any JSF page (including those that I have granted View access through the anonymous-role. Does the Oracle ADF anonymous-role work (allow for anonymous page access) when JAAS security is handled by the Oracle E-Business Suite SDK JAAS implementation?
Per the SDK instructions, when we install the Oracle ADF deployment on Weblogic we have selected "DD only" for our security setting. We have defined enterprise roles in the Oracle ADF security setup (jazn-data.xml) that are assigned the appropriate application roles. Those enterprise roles have the same name (i.e. UMX|YOURROLE) as the E-Business Suite roles that are assigned to our test users. When we login with an E-Business Suite user / password we are receiving an error:

Any thoughts on why that would be?
Thanks

Thanks Juan.
With the debugging options enabled it appears the issue is not an issue with the user / role credentials - it seems like the resource grants from jazn-data.xml are not being reviewed in my standalone weblogic instance EAR deployment:
[JpsAuth] Check Permission
PolicyContext: [TestApp]
Resource/Target: [untitled1PageDef]
Action: [view]
Permission Class: [oracle.adf.share.security.authorization.RegionPermission]
Result: [FAILED]
Evaluator: [ACC]
Failed ProtectionDomain:ClassLoader=sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@13f5d07
CodeSource=file:/app/oracle/product/Middleware/oracle_common/modules/oracle.adf.share_11.1.1/adf-share-support.jar
Principals=total 2 of principals(
1. JpsPrincipal: oracle.security.jps.internal.core.principals.JpsAnonymousUserImpl "anonymous" GUID=null DN=null
2. JpsPrincipal: oracle.security.jps.internal.core.principals.JpsAnonymousRoleImpl "anonymous-role" GUID=null DN=null)
When I access the same page from my integrated weblogic server I see:
[JpsAuth] Check Permission
PolicyContext: [TestApp]
Resource/Target: [untitled1PageDef]
Action: [view]
Permission Class: [oracle.adf.share.security.authorization.RegionPermission]
Result: [FAILED]
Evaluator: [ACC]
Failed ProtectionDomain:ClassLoader=sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader@13f5d07
CodeSource=file:/app/oracle/product/Middleware/oracle_common/modules/oracle.adf.share_11.1.1/adf-share-support.jar
Principals=total 2 of principals(
1. JpsPrincipal: oracle.security.jps.internal.core.principals.JpsAnonymousUserImpl "anonymous" GUID=null DN=null
2. JpsPrincipal: oracle.security.jps.internal.core.principals.JpsAnonymousRoleImpl "anonymous-role" GUID=null DN=null)
When I review my EAR - I do see jazn-data.xml at:
/META-INF/jazn-data.xml
I will review the system-jazn-data.xml to see if the policy information has been migrated properly as part of the EAR deployment.
Thanks.

• E Business suite -BOM and interfaces

I have spent 29 yrs in Engg/Mfg industry. I have found that Oracle apps ERP Business suite BOM module is very poorly conceived . It is rich and robust in other areas but in design activity of business function it is not good.It needs lot of change. It is becoming useful only when we customize it. Some of the concern points are :
1.Too many identifications and dummy nos.
2. No facility to generate long lead BOM
3.No facility of automatic discounting of long lead items
4.No discretization of module
5.No facility for advance mfg item generation
many like this................
With all my due regards to Oracle I do not get a feeling that a hardcore working designer's brain has gone into it.
If Oracle needs my help I am ready to extend my help in sharing my practical views to make it more rich.

Hussein,
Database Version is RDBMS 11.2.0.2; Oracle EBS Version is R-12.1.3; OS is HP-UX Itanium 64-Bit Version 11.31 (for DB and Apps Tier).
We bounced the application services after doing the above changes and running AutoConfig.
We checked access_log and the only information that we can find there is
[29/Nov/2011:15:15:05 -0600] "GET /OA_HTML/portlets/WSRPBaseService?WSDL HTTP/1.1" 403 242 0 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; SLCC2; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E)"
