E51 got possesed - a january 2010 story

In december 2008 I bought an E51. The old application for nokia phones permited the user to start calls from the computer. I needed that when my E51 gone crazy and i had to keep the kaypad blocked all the time. Why ? Because the phone got possesed or something, starting to call the 1st person in the phonebook or sending blank sms to that person. If I was called by someone, I could talk  few seconds only, because the calling got on hold and back every 1-2 seconds. The only way i could talk was during the 1st half hour after formating the phone using the tools on nokia website. After maximum 30-40 minutes, the phone acted crazy . And I forgot to tell you that the left side of the keypad got blocked  7-8 hours before starting to act crazy. Not a single key worked. And the only way I could make a call was using the old software from Nokia. 
I took the phone back to orange dealer and they fixed it. But than i got another problem with it : the phone began to freeze when i was called and stayed like that till i removed the battery. Orange dealer couldn`t fix this. And several months later the phone died for good. Orange dealer said is the motherboard of the phone and they cannot fix it, neither change it with a new one. They never gave me the Nokia Guarantee when I first purchased the phone, so I had nothing else to do. Total loss for me. 
Anybody else experienced such behavior with E51 or other phone ?

Dax, if you are in an EU or EEA country and bout the phone from Orange in one of those countries, then you'll have the European Limited warranty which lasts two years, so you still have a little time left to get to a Nokia service point and make a claim to have the phone fixed under the manufacturer's warranty.
Orange are not relevant here, most operators won't change a phone beyond about six months from the date of purchase (except in france where the seller of a product is legally responsible for maintaining it in working condition for 12 months). Don't confuse Orange with Nokia, Orange sold you the phone and their responsibility is according to their rôle as the retaile. Nokia as the manufacturer gives European customers a 2-year warranty which must be accessed via Nokia's service network, not Orange's.
Check the Nokia web site for your country, follow the Support link then look for advice in getting a phone repaired - and do it wuickly before your warranty expires next month. You are likely to need a proof of purchase to claim on the warranty, especially as it is so close to the end because many phoens sit on shelves in warehouses or shops for some time between leaving the factory and being sold the the customer; if you don't still have that ask Orange for a copy - the must have records of their sales.

    Assumption: Your data always starts at 6:00 am everyday as you seemed to indicate in your example.

  • Items sold for January 2010 query

    Hi Experts,
    I need to create a query for a client that want to see all the Item Codes, Item Description, On hand quantity (at this point in time) and the Quantity on Invoices for a specific month. (Quantity only on AR Invoices, not Credit memos)

  • I have been using my Visa debit card since I first got an iPhone in 2010 for my purchases/free downloads...now all of a sudden it won't even let me download free apps like Netflix. I have money on my card as well...

It says that my payment is declined. I have money on my card and my bank account shows that my apps and music purchases have been paid for. I can't even get free apps.

    Do you have enough funds in your bank account?
    otherwise iTunes sometimes black lists card if there are too many fradulent purchases
    Reason why they might black list a card is possibly you call in for alot of fradulent purchases
    One more reason can be because iTunes does actually limit the amount you can change payment methods

    Your Mac should be able to handle Mavericks as long as it's got at least 2GB of RAM which given its date I would assume it has. Mavericks is available from the Mac App Store in Applications and is free.
    You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Mavericks (or indeed on Lion or Mountain Lion); and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Brand New Mac Mini (Intel 2.53 320HD 4gb - January 2010 - new Airpot Extrem

    I purchased a new Mac Mini Intel Duo 2.53 320HD 4gb and a new Airport Extreme, new iWorks, wireless Mouse and keyboard, ipod touch 8gig and have a iphone 3gs 16g already few months old. My Mac Mini keeps trying to install something in System/Library/CoreServices and halts permission check until Disk Utility saying that it has been altered and will not repair. I did notice in that directory everything about Apple Remote Desktop, including ARDAgent / AppleVNCServer.bundle which contains curtainlock, kickstart, remote desktop.incs, RemoteDeskoptAgent, lock.jpg, networkUser.tiff, Lockscreen, lockscreekLeopard386, VNC Gues, sshHelper, writesettings, VNC PrivilageProxy, AppleVNCServer, Screensharing, Upgrade User, UserAccountUpdate, WorkflowServerRunner, Ticket Viewer and so on. My new Apple Extreme Dual Band, paid $179 for it, shows another base station when trying to re-set to factory settings that doesnt match mine, and I have no other apple stuff in my apartment. Also, before I can even enter the password and set it up, the Amber solid light turns green, and thanks me at the end for setting up my wireless with a usb printer. I don't have, nor ever setup a printer, no in my sharing, and under Airport at the top of my screen listing all the networks in my area also has a second section listed Devices - and it shows a hpsetup under my computer's airport.
    Would buying techtools deluxe help fix this problem? Or norton Security for mac? or use the PGP Corporation Whole Desktop security Apple recommends to encrypt everything and re-install my operating system after I do a full erase with a one zero clean on both empty and disk02 - Machintosh HD?
    Also my iphone 3gs is acting strange. It says the AT&T firmware is 5.11.7 and 3.1.2 (7D11) but the actual model number has changed from whatever M..L/A to now just M...LL (no /A).

    I'd suggest trying it. Worst thing that could happen is your system is too sluggish to use, in which case you reformat the partition (or remove if you want) and install a different, more compatible version of Windows. But personally, I could see it working well for you. However, if you're using an Apple Wireless keyboard and Mighty/Magic Mouse, you may run into some problems with pairing, however, this is a Boot Camp driver problem and can be fixed fairly easily.
    I can't see it creating any problems, I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on my Mac mini with only 1GB Ram and a 1.66 GHz processor. And it's running really smooth. I should also note that Windows 7 uses far less resources than Vista, thus it runs a little better on slower machines than Vista did.

    That's the thing, i dont wanna buy it just to find out that it's not gonna work. Yes i have windows in a partition. It says everything is fine on my computer but the graphics card is slightly lower than the minimum but i think it might work if i set it on low resolution, do you think it'll work?

  • Problems with "No WiFi" after OS upgrade

    Ok....I have a 2G or 3G iPod Touch (not sure which but got it in January 2010) that I just finally upgrade to the the newest OS because I got tired of being told I couldn't download apps due to the OS.  Well, now it's really fixed because I can't download anything and the iPod is a useless as a brick.  I have the infamous "No WiFi" grayed out issue.  Please don't try to tell me it's a hardware issue because that's a bunch of crap. Anyone with half a brain knows that it's the OS if it worked before the upgrade and now doesn't work at all.  iPod worked just fine with absoultely NO WiFi issues before the upgrade and now it's useless after the upgrade.  Clearly this is a VERY common issue from the Google searches I have done and clearly in MANY cases there appears to be no real fix.  I'm a very technical-savy person and I've already spent at least 4 hours searching, backing up and restoring to no avail.  I've rebooted the iPod, rebooted my router, restored the iPod to a new iPod, retored the iPod to the back-up and bascially NONE of the ideas work.
    It is inconceivable to me that there is not a fix out there for this issue and that there isn't even a system restore to go back to the old operating system.  Even Microsoft let's you restore to a previous time.  That's pretty basic funtionality.  For as bad as Microsoft can be, they at least understand that it's a necessity at times.  Apple apparently doesn't even acknowledge that their operating system is broken.  They'd rather you run out and buy a new iPod.  Furthermore, I can't believe with the number of times I've seen the issue online, that there isn't a bigger outcry over it. 
    So, all you people out there that brag about how Apple products are more immune from all of those viruses, just realize you are being duped from Apple who is in essence creating its own virus by giving you an OS that renders your product virtually useless.
    Would welcome any additional fixes for this issue, but after owning at least 6 different iPods, I will make sure I never buy another Apple product again unless this thing gets fixed.

    No. That won't be necessary.  To me that is an unacceptable and ridiculous solution.  I'll just go buy an Android product and make sure I never waste another penny on Apple.
    Really?  Apple is that stupid that they can't create a fix that is downloadable?  I'd stay far away from their computers and tablets if that's the case. 

  • WifI Reception

    I recently got a MPB (January, 2010) .. I noticed that the WIFI has many dead spots, even when close to the router itself. I tried different routers to see if it was a router issue, with no luck. I can take the computer into the same room as the router and it will pick and choose when it wants to work. Sometimes, it will work great. Network key is correct, My other laptop works perfect with this wifi as well. Ethernet cable works fine. Is there anything to do to help the internet stay connected via WIFI?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Your problem could be caused by many things and can be tricky to figure out. First thing to do is take the MBP to other wireless locations, like your local Starbucks, Apple Store, etc somewhere where there is free Wi-Fi that way you can see if it's your machine or a setting.
    If you have the same problem at the local Starbucks then it seems like a warranty issue and you should make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP.
    If the MBP tests out OK then there are two things I can think of:
    1. The channel being used on your wi-fi network.
    2. The DNS settings your ISP is using.
    To test the channel download and run iStumber (Google it) to see what other wi-fi networks are in your area and what channel they're using. Most routers default to channel 5 or 6 and most people are too lazy to change their channel. If you see you competing for a channel then simply change the channel your wi-fi is on, you will need to refer to the routers instructions on how to do this.
    The next thing is the DNS settings, if you don't know what they are here is an article from MacWorld that will explain and discuss how to fix it. I'd recommend using the Open DNS settings listed in the article.
    Let us know what you find out after visiting some other wi-fi networks.

  • Ive got a Mac Pro bought seconf hand, It doesn't allow me to update as the username is blocked to the previous owner, it appears off and can't change it, the box goes directly to password. I have changed the computer username and password but the problem

    Ive got a Mac Pro 2010, bought second hand through eBay. When it comes to update the software, the username is blocked to the previous owner. It appears off and the box goes directly to password. I have tried to reset then to log in in apple store with my login but didn't help. I would appreciate any tips to sort it out

    That machine did not ship with Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8), so that means the copy of Mountain Lion on the machine was purchased by the former owner and is non-transferable. It is permanently linked to his/her Apple ID, so you cannot update or reinstall it.
    What you need to do (which the seller should have done for you) is reinstall the original system that that machine came with. I believe that would be Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6). What you need to do is reinstall that system from the original disks. If the seller did not provide those disks, you can call Apple and get them replaced for a small shipping and handling fee.

  • IMac 2010 11,3 Green/Purple Pixels

    Hi Guys,
    Been browsing the internet for ages, including the apple forums, and always come across similar issues, but never seem to fit mine 100%.
    I've got a 27" iMac 2010 11,3 i5.
    Basically, about a year or so ago, it started to get these slight green and purple pixels on the screen, more square artifacts than anything else, but it was no problem, because if i'd 'select' them with the cursor, they'd go, as time progressed they've gotten worse and worse, to the point where they would take over the whole screen, again, a simple 'select' all of the screen would remove them for a short while, they never appeared doing anything specfic, but would be guarenteed to turn up.
    The system now is only really usuable during Safe Boot, Under normal boot conditions, it will last between 15 seconds and an hour tops, Until it just hangs, the entire GUI is locked, however the Cursor will move, I've left it for a while to see if it will reclaim itself, but to no avail, the only option is to hold down the power until it shuts down.
    Now, this only started happening after upgrading to Lion, I've since moved to Mountain Lion, and it still persists, So i decided to do an Apple Hardware Test in Extended mode, I received an error regarding the HDD, which was a 1TB Western Digital Drive, Don't get me wrong, it was slow, but it never seemed to give me issues, so I replaced the hard drive (No Apple care & out of Warranty), with a 2TB Seagate Model, Installed Mountain Lion, instant issues, Straight after succesful install.
    I've since done several other Hardware Tests, and the only issue i get is the Hard Drive Sensor, Which I understand because of the 3rd Party hard drive.
    So, within the last 3-4 weeks i've reinstalled, Re formatted, Zero'd the hard drive around 15 times, just to see if anything changed.
    With Regards to the Safe Mode Boot, Its perfect, never get artifacts, never get a hang, nothing! Same goes for anything other than Normal Boot Conditions.
    These pixels can be screenshot and still remain there! They also appear over Screen Sharing.
    The system was bought for Graphic Design use, and thats what its needed for, But with it getting to the point of me only being able to work under safe mode, I've run out of options!
    From what I know, someting under normal boot conditions is causing the issue, a kext maybe, but I've no idea on which one is causing the issue.
    Even if i can get it working with something disabled/removed it's fine, But Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign are my work, and without being able to use them i'm pretty much limited!
    I've obviously tried resetting the SMC/PRAM again, no changes, I've changed the RAM, bought new, swapped out, Nothing no changes.
    The system is currently running 10.8.3.
    One thing i did notice, is that the system often lasts longer before it hangs under the 64 Bit Kernel, rather than the 32 Bit Kernel (Not sure if thats expected or not but thought it would be worth a mention)

    Well no, i never solved it, I've since stripped the machine and tried to see whats going on, and everything seems perfect.
    A company has suggested its the graphics chip, and has offered to re-ball it, but i'm not sure on that yet.
    But to add injurt to insult, hald of my display is now flickering every half hour or so.
    I think i'm at a loss with it.
    Only thing its being used for now is a Target Display Mode for a Mac Mini, which ironically works perfectly, and the hard drive is set up as a shared drive, So it's just a really expensive screen!

  • MacBook Pro 2010, 15" Freezes for 20-30sec every now and then

    I recently got my MBP Mid-2010 with a Core i5, 4GB RAM and the BTO 500GB 7200rpm HDD.
    From time to time the current application freezes, spinning beachball - using app switch I can still switch to another application but 1-2 seconds later this will also freeze.
    I also checked the System Console for information: nothing in there around the particular time.
    Had Activity Monitor running for some time and every time this happened the HDD activity was 0.
    I used disk utility to repair permissions, switched power saving for HDDs off in Enery Settings - that seemed to help for some time but the issue keeps staying around. I also did PRAM-reset, SMC-reset, re-install Snow Leopard, installed all the latest updates.
    I called Apple they only told me to get to an AASP, I'm just not in the mood of "repairing" a device only two weeks old.
    A friend of mine encountered similar problems on his MBP-2009 a while ago and one day it would not boot up again. He had to go to an AASP to get his HDD replaced.
    What do y'all think about this problem? Any advice?

    I ran the short and long hardware tests this afternoon and nothing came up. So there's no detectable hardware defect.
    At the moment I don't suspect the drive. Today I've been running iostat in a terminal the whole day and I see no change in disk activity (or system load or anything else for that matter) when the freeze occurs. iostat keeps reporting the same numbers the whole time. Maybe it's something on the mainboard or a driver/OS X issue. Or an interrupt issue since everything that I did during the freeze gets done instantly after the systems starts responding again.
    Monday I'm going to call Apple to report all of this. Since Apple Support only heard of this issue from you I expect I'm going to get a replacement MacBook Pro. But I suspect that there's a good chance I'll be getting another model with same issue.
    A friend of mine has ordered the same configuration as I have at the same time. She hasn't experienced any problems so far. She's going to pay close attention to her MacBook tomorrow when she boots it in the morning. And in a couple of days we're going to test them side by side. I'll keep you posted.

  • Images removed from Aperture 2010

    1. On the hard drive upon which my vaults are stored, getting a directory called "Images removed from Aperture [name of vault]." Any ideas please as I've only just noticed these on a pretty organised system.
    2. My Aperture has always been slow, crashes several times a day even though it was bought new in Jan 2010 and is just back from the Genius bar and still doing the same. Any ideas?
    3. One of my largest libraries will no longer open. It was going through a repair and became stuck for a day so I closed it. Since then Aperture will no longer open via clicking on it in the Finder. It does have a vault (I'm guessing 95% up to date) associated with it, but I'm not sure if I should now go to the next step and open the Vault and restore from there (or however I do it).
    4. How best to organise my libraries, eg have one for every month (take huge number of images of my boys and client shoots) or have one per year with projects of months within. I have then albums for the events under those months. I don't (yet) use Folders as haven't found a use for that extra level or organisation, but should I?
    5. Is it ok to copy the contents of Show Package contents and use that to make an additional copy. I'd read that I could Show Package contents, then select all with "." a period, then select Kind.. Images and then just copy the contents to another directory. I'm thinking of this route given my unreliability of Aperture, original the trial then used the serial number to upgrade beyond trial.
    6. Should I reinstall Aperture using the serial number or by disk? Haven't done that before, as it was an internet download.

    By Aperture you mean your computer system? Without more information it would be difficult to answer this. What did Apple say when you brought it in?
    If you got Aperture in Jan 2010 you started with version 2 correct? What version are you running now?

It does have a vault (I'm guessing 95% up to date) associated with it, but I'm not sure if I should now go to the next step and open the Vault and restore from there (or however I do it).
    Large libraries can take over a day to do repairs or updates. It's tough to wait but most times that's the best course of action. Have you tried to repair it again? If you can;t open it or repair it and you have a vault for it you might as well restore it. That's what the vault is for. If you decide to restore and have questions post back.
    4. How best to organise my libraries, eg have one for every month (take huge number of images of my boys and client shoots) or have one per year with projects of months within. I have then albums for the events under those months. I don't (yet) use Folders as haven't found a use for that extra level or organisation, but should I?
    This is a huge topic and best addressed in a separate post. There are plenty of resources covering this topic both in this discussion group, in the Aperture users manual and on the web. Familiarize yourself with them and than post back with specific questions.
    5. Is it ok to copy the contents of Show Package contents and use that to make an additional copy. I'd read that I could Show Package contents, then select all with "." a period, then select Kind.. Images and then just copy the contents to another directory. I'm thinking of this route given my unreliability of Aperture, original the trial then used the serial number to upgrade beyond trial.
    What your describing doesn't make sense from a systems standpoint. The most it would do, if it worked, is get out your image files and previews but in no way that Aperture could use unless you imported them. Even if it worked you would lose all your adjustments, keywords etc.
    It's never a good idea to go into the Aperture library at the package level. The smallest misstep can have bad outcomes. If you ever need to copy the library you just need to drag the .aplibrary file.
    6. Should I reinstall Aperture using the serial number or by disk? Haven't done that before, as it was an internet download.
    As long as you have the serial number you can install from either.
