E72 and Chat service

After a software update my 'home' screen has a message inviting me to Activate Chat Service. I don't need the Chat Service but can't get rid of the message - does anyone know how to delete it? Thanks.

just go to control panel>>setting>>general>>personalization>>standby mode>>mode setting>>homescreen application.. just remove waht u doesnt want appear ..

I would like to express my disappointment concerning the access of the Social, Mail and Chat applications on the latest s40-based Nokia mobile phones on AIS One-2-Call network (Thailand):
I purchased a Nokia Asha 303 for my wife 2 weeks ago and tried to connect her new telephone to her Facebook account via the embed Social application provided by Nokia (not the browser). It always failed to work even though everything is fine on her mobile (3g/gprs connection works, balance is positive).

After talking to an AIS customer service officer, we learned that Facebook access through Nokia's Social application is provided as a extra option which is charged 29 THB/week !

Well, unless I decide to subscribe to the above paid service, which is unlikey to happen, I won't be using this nice feature. This is very disappointing.
Besides, Nokia's Social app is the only application available for Facebook on this mobile phone. My only alternative is the web browser ! This is definitely not good news.
Now I'd like to know:
Nokia, do you have an agreement with mobile phone carriers in Thailand ?
If so, how do you justify the existence of paid offers to access social network websites through your application while many of your competitors, if not all of them, offer free applications instead ?
If there is no agreement, then I recommend you to clear things up here in Thailand because operators are making money behind your back exploiting your own technology...

Is the mobile data connection (with your provider) up and running? Are you able to browse the web using the phone's browser? If no, this is most likely the reason why the issue is happening. Kindly coordinate with your Network Provider to get the correct Internet/APN settings via SMS. Save it on the phone so it will be configured.

So I have an iPad 2 for two years. Has never been dropped or in water or damaged in any way....now the volume is distorted and I get booted off the web all the time. Plus it shows and no service in top left corner. Any one have these issues?

So I got is iPad as a gift and the same issues I had with my iPhone 4S is also happening with my iPad. Will Apple cover the problem as it lies within there updates or something. All I know I have taken perfect care of both products and volume is distorted. Can't listen to music, I get booted off the web all the time, I can't even chat with Apple icare it won't work and no service shows on top left corner. What is wrong with Apple products? I'm thinking it's time to switch! I've had to change my iPhone twice now......first time for mic not working and then camera shutter kept sticking. Same on my iPad........ I don't want to pay to get this fixed as it's not my fault this is happening...... It's software apparently?

This really is starting to feel like a hardware issue than a software one.

How to Configure E-mail and Chat functionalities

Dear all,
How to configure E-mail and Chat functionalities for IC Webclient.
through IC Webclient ICI interface how can we configure E-mail functionality, As per my understanding, E-mails can be handled in a similar way of receiving phones.
Where these E-mails can be stored?, Where we define agent E-mail id?
being ICI is a multi channel support does it need SMPT server support? If No, would there be any difference in the functionality?
How does CHAT functionality works?
Please educate in above scenarios to get a better understanding.

C3-00 chat services don't give me people's replies

Hey All,
I recently bought a Nokia C3 phone, andfor awhile, everything was working fantastically.
Uhm, for the past couple of days however, my Chat Services, in particular the Windows Live Messenger one hasn't been giving me people's replies.
That is to say that what i send to people reach, but when they reply, it just doesn't show up to me
doesn't even give me notification that they sent anything.
I know they can see what i sent, and that it's not my internet because i told somebody to call me if they could see my posts, and they did.
I just can't see their replies.
I tried to factory reset, and at the cost of all my pics and files, nothing changed, and i still couldn't see the replies.
Help or advice would be very much appreciated.

dude I got the same problem, it started in friday and today haven't got any solution yet and is really getting on my nerves!!! because:
1. All the other chat communities work (OVI, YAHOO IM, G-TALK!).
2. I don't want to use other app (Nimbuzz drains battery too much quickly; on top of that can't be minimized like native Chat app).
When will nokia will fix this roblem or at least! tell us whats going on
its really annoying, this device doesn't have even a year and has got so many problems... if this continue like this I will have to buy another device, and sadly won't be a Nokia....

Unfortunately my friend, as sad and annoying as your story is, this is a user to user help forum and issues such as yours need to be resolved with Nokia Direct, you can try the contact us section on the web site, or persist with the repair centre that lost your phone, but other than offer sympathy, there is nothing anyone here can do to help you

E72 and Nokia email Major problem

Oh Nokia what have you done. I was using the Nokia email from nokia.email.com and in there I had my yahoo.com email account. You now longer let the yahoo.com address work inside the Nokia email.
So now I had to manually add my yahoo.com email address into the E72, but everytime the phone checks for email, it takes up so much of the phone cpu power all else locks up. Even has dropped my phone call as the whole phone went into a CPU bound state...
Nokia give me back my yahoo.com email in my nokia.email.com account. Let us add them back in. What have you done. You have basically killed anyone from using a Nokia E72 and yahoo.com email address.

As for whether Yahoo is a paid service for pop email or not is not a debate here. If you are a Verizon FIOS or Comcast internet customer in the USA, you get the POP email of Yahoo free. I am one of these so it is free.
But the fact remains. I used to use the Nokia email message service and had YAHOO as one of my email accounts. It picked up my yahoo.com email for over one year with very few issues. Onfe in a while I would have to restart the phone. Then last week it suddenly stopped.
I called customer servuice and they told me that Nokia email service no longer would work as I had it, to delete the yahoo account and re-add it.
When you re-add yahoo.com email address, it forces an IMAP setup (although I can tell you how to make the Yahoo pop work as I was able to override and trick the phone). As soon as you typ in any address @yahoo.com, it forces you to their IMAP setup within the Nokia E72.
So in IMAP setup of yahoo.com email on my main Ey2 screen I have my yahoo.com email account dstatus displayed. It simply says YAHOO MAIL and in parenthesis the number of unread messages. so mine right now says Yahoo Mail (23)
I have the phone set to check for email every 5 minutes... Pick up UPTO the last 100 messages and also pickup upto 500kb of email data (the old Nokia email message service way it would ask you HOW MANY WEEKS to go back and it would pick up most all email except not download attachments)
When the phone checks. it deletes MOST every (NOT EVERY) message in the yahoo inbox. If you are wtaching the main screen, you see the "23" for the amount of unread go all the way down to 1 (never to zero I dont thing) and then count back up to either 23 or if new email is there, it will go higher.
If you are in the yahoo inbox, you see the emails disappear and then re-appear as it deletes and re-synces all the email
Now if you are unlicky to be on the cell phone during call when it does this re-sync, it take so much CPU, that soemtimes I drop, but if I am in the middle of talking, I "zap" out for a second or two and the other person is wondering what happened if I am in the middle of a sentence. Onc again the phone seems to be CPU bound and all else stops working exceopt the retrieval of that email.
So MOST of the time when the phone is checking the yahoo account, it takes up so much CPU that the phone is basically unresponsive.
I seem not to be the only one who is having issues with a Nomkia hone and Yahoo.com

NOKIA's own support people told me that the NOKIA email program changed. Yes it changed and now people are having issues with YAHOO.COM email.
Nopw if you would lik to knopw how to setup YAHOO.COM on a pop.. simply\
create ANY other POP account. It can be real or phoney. Then go back in and simply change the settings for yahoo.

user name / login: email address w/o the yahoo.com.
pop: pop.mail.yahoo.com
smtp:: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
password: hey its your password. dont ask me
email adress: full [email protected]
this seems to work. it does not kill the phone. It does not re-do all he email every time.
There is something about imap and yahoo.com email that you have messed up here and alot of us are seeing it.

I've bought c3 for 1 months. Everyday i tries to log on to chat and mail, but my problem is it always shows a notification like this:
Mail: service temporary unavailable. try again later.
Chat: temporary service problem. Try again later code 503.
This is really annoying. I can still use store, communities, opera mini but totally not mail AND chat. Can anybody help me with this? Thank you so much.

You did have a successful creating of Mailbox right? What client are you on? If you were using Yahoo! Mail and is set it to POP3, it would not work since Yahoo! does not support POP3 (unless you're one Yahoo!Plus) and for the chat I use Nimbuzz as its way better.

Z3 / Z3 Compact Chat service disappeared in Messaging App

Hi there. Since the latest lolly update, the "chat service" has disappeared as an option from the stock messaging app. The one where your texts were coloured yellow if they were being sent over the internet rather than an SMS. This is very frustrating, as I was just extolling the virtues of this feature to my wife who has the Z3C, I have the Z3. She raves about What'sApp you see. Now "Chat" is gone! It's not even in the settings menu as "enable chat service" anymore... Have deleted data from app etc to no avail. Any ideas folks? Many thanks. It has gone from both our 'phones BTW.

OK, the version of the Messaging app we both have is 28.1.A.1.4. Wife's Z3C still shows SMS after each text, and settings screen shown the Chat Service options. Mine doesn't! Here, have a look...

Email address from address book on E72 and removin...

Hi,
I like my E72 but I have two problems that really annoy me.
1. In the past when ever I would write a new email I would get list of suggested email addresses in the "To" field. For example, if I would was to write the letter S I would get the email address of the people in my address book whose name starts with an S (sam, Sofia etc).
for some reason this feature stopped working on my phone and I can't find how to make it work again. if I want to send an email I need to manually write the email address in the "To" field.
The auto suggestion feature works perfectly on my wife's phone (an E72 with the same firmware – 22.007) but on my phone it won't suggest email addresses from my contacts.
2. Another problem is that my Gmail that is synced to the phone, through the Nokia Messenger server is locked on "hide emails older than 2 weeks". Now, I have hundreds of emails stored on my phone that dates to February 1st – the day I got the Phone!
Is there a way to delete these emails automatically, without deleting them on the Gmail account itself? It makes my phone really when going through the emails.

I've fixed the problem with my email service on E72. The thing is, there's something wrong with the Nokia Messaging service. So I turned the service off. But you must remove the inbox properly, that is from the web site email/nokia.com, and manage your inbox from there and not from your cell phone.
Remove it, and make a new settings on your E72 for your preferable mailbox. When they asked you about to accept or decline the Nokia Messaging service, declined it, and set your mailbox without using Nokia Messaging. Yes the e-mail doesn't instantly sent to your inbox, but you can set the timing to always enabled synchronization, and set it to every 5 minutes. It will delivered flawlessly to your E72, and you'll get a full control for your inbox and everything without being 'locked' by nokia messaging. You can decide how much email you'd like exactly in your inbox, sent, etc. You can decide the period and everything. The device are fully functional and do very well job in maintaining email, but not Nokia Messaging. (Nokia Messaging Team, please take a serious action.)
This step will also fix your problem on email address from address book on E72. I don't really know what the connection between them, but it seems that it needs to connect to the internet to make this feature enabled. (it's kind of strange since the email in the address book is in the phone memory, not in the 'cloud' server). It sometimes happen if you don't have the internet connection, but once you had it, the problem solved.

Can you do this video conferencing using the cross-platform version of the JMF? The cross-platform version of JMF does not support as many formats(1) as the JMF performance pack - and you might find that the PP version supports some formats that offer better compression than the x-plat version is able to handle. Note that this can be tested once you have the server-side component in place - it is pretty much the same for an applet, JWS app., or plain old desktop app. such as JMStudio (provided as a sample app. with JMF) to access the web service that provides the video feed.

E72 and SIP, look like missing a file

Hi All;
I have a Nokia mobile model E72 and it look like I am missing a file that is needed for SIP service. Actually I have SIP settings, but when I need to place a call, then there is no option called Internet call.
What could be needed (which file) so the Phone will become supported for Internet Call?
By the way: I am facing a problem that some Nokia Mobiles which work fine with SIP, they do not work fine if the wireless service was via the mobile operator (like 3G), but it work fine if the wireless service was via an access point router. So what is the solution for this case? Actually IPhone and some Nokia phones does not have this problem.
Any advise?

On your Mac you download the latest version through the App Store, not the iTunes Store. The iTunes Store gets you the iOS (mobile) version. The App store gets you the OS X (Mac) version. They are two separate apps.

Going idle disconnects me from ANY chat service - AIM, iChat

I am using an airport extreme connection with road runner. When my computer goes into sleep mode, any chat program I am using is disconnected -- this happens with AIM, iChat, and Netscape Navigator's chat screen. As soon as I move my mouse, or touch the keyboard, and go active, AIM automatically reconnects. Any ideas on how I can remain signed into a chat service when I go into sleep mode?

The only way of keeping you logged into ichat and applications like this. IS to change your energy settings in your System preferences so that your mac doesn't go to sleep nor does your hard drive go to sleep when possible you can put your display to go to sleep at 10-15 minutes but that is it and you should be fine afterwards. Make sure that the check box for put my hard disk to sleep when possible is unchecked and you have put my computer to sleep set to never. Let me know the results. By the way in case you are worrying about keeping your mac on all the time there is no need to worry the screen is what you have to allow to sleep after 10-15 minutes of inactivity so that you prolong its life.

Chat service not working in Yosemite

Hi,
I just upgraded my server to Yosemite. Most of the services run now but I noticed that some - including the Chat services - is now not anymore available through the domain but only through local. Clients therefore receive an error message. In Mavericks the server was available through "server name" at domain name and not "server name".local
Any idea how I can change that again?

Is your network accessible outside ? Are you getting any time out error/exception on the client side (Applet loader's java console)?
