Each time I open Firefox, a previously visted website is open at the left side behind the home page, so the my home page is only partly filling the screen.
The "Sam's Club" website with my user ID and "remember me" box checked is the one that opens behind my homepage. This happens every time I open Firefox, but did not happen before I set up the Sam's Club sign in page.
Could you check whether you have dual homepages?
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > General
If you see more than one URL in the Home Page box, delete the extra one and the vertical bar that separates them.
More info: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page How to set the home page | How to | Firefox Help].
Any luck?
Edit: if the page appears in the sidebar, which also can be used to display bookmarks (Ctrl+b) or history (Ctrl+h), then it probably is caused by something other than your home page setting.

Firefox 10.0Hi dcast01,
Are you saying that it restores your old tabs when you restart? Have you looked at ''Preferences > General'' to see if Firefox is set to restore your tabs from the last session? You should change it to ''When Firefox Starts: Show my home page''.
Or is your issue that you keep seeing the tab that says "welcome to firefox" when you start the browser? If that's the case, you should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
If that doesn't work:
# Type about:config in the address bar
# Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
# In the Filter input field type ''startup''
# Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
# Delete the text string and click ''OK''
# Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
Hopefully this helps! -
I have an IMAC, Mountain Lion. Each time I open my mail, a message box appears with the message Mail can't connect to the account "Google", followed by Enter the password for the user *****@gmail.com. The full account that appears is an account that I had previously deleted. I cannot prevent the message box from appearing. What do I have to tweak in order for this annoying box to keep reappearing. I have deleted everything I know of in Google mail and my IMAC mail. Thanks for any feedback
From the Mail menu bar, select
Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for the unwanted SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat. -
Every time I open a new tab or navigate to a different part of a website I get this annoying zap sound. It only started after my last upgrade. Please tell me how to get rid as its driving me mad. It has nothing to do with add-ons as I've disabled them all.

Each time I open Acrobat, the 30 day trial pop up opens and stops me from seeing the document
Every time I try to open a document, I get the Adobe Acrobat 30 day trial subscription on the screen. If I get rid of this, the screen remains blank and the document doesn't open
Hi Richard Austin,
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble, Please let us know that, Are you facing this issue with a specific pdf or with all the pdf file that you try to open up with Acrobat?
Moreover, What exactly happens after you get rid of that 'trial window'? - Does the program abruptly terminate or Do you get any error message on the screen or any other prompt window?
Regards,
Rahul Tyagi -
Actually, rather than random, they almost appear to be in the order I would have added them to my address book.
Oops, you have managed to post this in precisely the wrong group. Just so you know, this is the iPod touch - connect to Windows group.
The correct group is the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard > Mail and Address Book. The link will get you there faster: http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1223

Each time I upgrade, Firefox won't stop asking to be default browser
Each time I upgrade to the newest version, Firefox asks if I want it to be my default browser, and invites me to take the tour. I check the box to stop asking me, but it continues asking each time I open, and the invitation to the tour never goes away. These are so annoying I only use Firefox for one web site I use to grade college students an online course I teach. Windows 8.1
Thanks and regards, and happy holidays! You can check for problems with preferences.

Each time I open firefox, it doesn't open to my previously set website (Yahoo). I have to reset the homepage each time I open firefox despite following the help menu method. I'm not able to locate a possible cause/solution on the help menu. pls advise
Please do the following.<br><br>
* In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
* In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
* Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=<br><br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "''Copy Link Location''" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
* Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
* Click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
* Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
* Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br><br>

I need to know how to set the zoom option under "View" Tab, shere I dont have to re zoom each time I open Firefox. I have a wide screen monitor and generally, when viewing webpages, the web content on any page is confined to center of the page, and I was wondering if there was anyway to permanently set the zoom preferences without having to change them each time i open a webpage.
IE 8 and 9 has a feature to set the magnification and i set mine to 150% which works perfectly for me. I wonder if Firefox has a similar feature.TonyE
Thanks a lot. I downloaded the Default FullZoom Level add-on. My problem is now a history. thanks a million -
For the past few days, each time I open Firefox on my home computer, a popup message is briefly displayed: "Your browser's default search engine is not set to Yahoo! Search. Would you like to set it now? (Yes/No)". After perhaps 15 seconds at most, the popup disappears and my home page appears as normal. I have the Yahoo! Toolbar installed, and Yahoo! Search is the search engine there; however, the search box on the address bar (which allows me to select from several search engines) is normally set to Google. The search engine in the address bar hasn't actually been changed to Yahoo! Search without my consent yet -- I'm just annoyed at getting nagged to change search engines every time I open Firefox. How do I get the "nag" messages to shut up & leave me alone?
I would also note that this is only happening on my home computer (which runs Windows 7), not on my work computer (which runs Windows XP, and which I also normally use Firefox as my browser on, with the same Yahoo! Toolbar + Google search in the address bar setup).
I have run Threat Scans with Malwarebytes (paid version) and a Quick Scan with Avast! (free version), and neither has eliminated this "nag" message from Yahoo! Search. You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

HOW TO STOP THE PROMPTING MESSAGE OF MASTER PASSWORD EACH TIME I OPEN MOZILLA FIREFOX?
Firefox will ask for the Master Password on startup if it is needed on a page.<br />
This can be Sync or a web page that is (re)opened automatically and you have saved a name & password for this website.
You didn't confirm whether you are using Sync or not, so I don't know which of the two would apply. -

I recently had my computer serviced for an network problem I was experiencing, and since its return to to I have found that I must install the yahoo toolbar each time I open firefox. Hi all, since upgrading to Firefox 25 each time I boot Firefox I see briefly the following in a small window whilst it is opening. "Reverted change ..... on general useragent override." What does this mean and if it is a problem how is it rectified? I see the same message on Windows 7 64 bit and 2 LInux Distros.
Thanks for any explanation. This message is probably coming from the User Agent Switcher extension that detects that you have a user agent override active as you can see in the System Details List.
*general.useragent.override: Mozilla/5.0 (masking-agent; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0

I have to enter the remember password login at least twice each time I open a new instance of Firefox. Is there a fix for this problem?

Every time Firefox opened

Thanks for the advice. In my case, it is sufficient to '''uncheck''' " Saved passwords".
('''''Preferences -> Privacy -> Clear History when Firefox closes -> Settings -> Saved Passwords''''').
Great to have Sync. :)
