Easy DMS 7 & Long Text

Is it possible for the long text info to be pulled through to Easy DMS?
The long text is currently not being pulledthrough to Easy DMS...Is this correct?
If it is correct has anyone been able to get it to pull through by either activating something like a registery key?

We had a similar requirement and could not find a way to get the long text in EasyDMS. I did post a thread on this sometime back and one of the replies maybe helpful to you as well.

Hi Rajesh,
you can use transaction CV04N for searching documents with a specific longtext. Therefore please use the tab 'Texts'. On this tab you can enter search criterias for short and lontext of a document info record.

I have checked the both the fields stxh as well as stxl but i am not able to find any text fields out there.
My actual requirement is some third party software needs to b mapped the table fields in order to import it.
So if i know the table fields that would be easier.

Populating the long text in equipment

How do we propose to populate the long txt in equipment? Is LSMW viable option, or would this be more complicated than it
sounds?

Long text always create problem either in functional location and equipements.So it becomes difficult in LSMW .the problem you will face is while recording in lsmw either you will get word document when you open long text and in main upload it will be in a format where only 72 characters per line is possible.
so it is better always if long text is involved to use BDC ..life becomes easy through BDC.

myLabel.setText(theText);Obivously, u dont have to use a separate string, u could just call setText or pass it into the JLabel constructor, i just separated it to make it easier to see what your supposed to do.

Long Text in RFQ

Hi All,
I am trying to create "More Text" in the RFQ text for item. When i double click on "More Text" option, i see a screen where i can enter long text.
My problem is how to use the options "Symbols, Command, SAP Characters, Link" etc. I get these when i click Insert command on menu. Whatever i type for Symbols, Link etc, it says no values available or invalid symbol etc. Can anybody let me know the exact configuration area and how to use the above mentioned.

I dont think that you need DMS for standard text maintenance.
The same menu entries you have for SAPscript standard texts in SO10.

If you really get nothing, then check if you have authority (with /nSU53, after you have an entry chosen and nothing has happended)

I have noticed there are many posts from you on easyDMS (starting from u201C what are the drawbacks.etc etc).looks like you are facing some issues in implementing the easyDMS. but that also shows that you have not gone through the proper documentation which is available with the installation of easydms in pdf formats..
you can first go through the documents carefully (step by step approach)..once you do it, you will get a very clear picture of what is easydms and how it works..after that in case you get some specific issues you can always post them in SDN..
Sometimes investing some time to learn a product will provide you more insights about product..by QnA session you wont be able to know all the features of easydms (or for any other product in general).
Plz take is in a positive way..we have experts in SDN who can help but even god helps those who help themselves

u get tree option, 1. Maintain Search Server Relation, 2.Set Up Search Engine Index, 3. Start Processing for Documents
u need to configure for search.
Also, full text serch,
General Data>Settings for Storage Systems>Create MIME Types for Full-Text Search.

(How) Can I include Long Texts in Reports or Queries?

Hello,
We need to send our vendors their contract details including some of the long texts data.
So far we were sending excel spreadsheets to the vendors without the long texts. Is there some way we can start sending the spreadsheets to our vendors adding few extra columns for the long texts. Some of the vendors contracts have 20+ lines of data in the long texts.
Are there any better or easier ways than excel spreadsheets?
Is any kind of query development possible where long texts can be included?

Sorry friends for not communicating my requirement clearly. I am aware of the functions to retrieve the long texts data for purchase orders/contracts.
I need some help in downloading the data to excel sheets. I believe there are restrictions in the number of characters that can be accomodated in a excel column, so I am not sure if very long texts (say >500 lines & 72 chars each) can be wrapped around within a excel column.
Also can a query be written to extract long texts, or can long texts, >500 lines & 72 chars each, be displayed using ALVs?

Is there a way to insert a clickable hyperlink in the long text of an order header instead of using the attachment option?

hi jimmy,
You can very well add hyper links in the long text ,the long text should be in word format,suppose you want to use www.google.com you can type this and when click on it,it will take you to the website.
Regarding objects sap has not given this facility to add an attachment,for this you can use DMS functionality.

Special Characters in Long Text Field of FI Documents

Users entered the following in the long text field of a FI document:
"Settlement of claims for direct shipment (Refer to XXX/YY-053/2009, XXX/YY-018/2009, XX2120000031 and X2120000033)"
The default editor used is the one which looks like the MS Word.
When we changd to the other editor (Goto > Change Editor), we see the following:

How did "<(>,<)> " comes about?
Any ideas?

I'd probably use a regex of "allowed" characters rather than a list of "disallowed" characters, but thats just a difference in approach.
I would probably use a regular expression - alphanumeric is fairly easy to check

Recording Differences in Long Text Changes via Table Logging and AUT10

Hello,
I am trying to record changes to Long Text generated in a DMS DIR. (This field is the Language Dependent Description field.) We have set the system profile param rec/client.    We have enabled table logging for STXH & STXL in SE11. When we make a change to the Long Text, we try to display the results in AUT10. A change is indicated but when displayed, the text seems identical.
When displaying Logging status in RSTBHIST, the Active box for STXL is not checked despite the fact that we have set the "Log changes" box in SE11.
Note #573291 talks about installing a PH-ELR add-on. Is that necessary if we are already running SAP_APPL 6.04?
Also, is Table Logging the best approach to capture these changes to Long Text? Is there any way we could use Change Docs"?
The field width of DBTABLOG-LOGDATA = 16000 if that matters.

Easy DMS and workstation application

Hi all,
We are using Easy DMS. Each time we copy a file from e.g. my documents we need to choose the workstation application. As long as we only use Easy DMS I do not see the point of it... Is it possible to avoid? If is not? What do I need to customize to make it work properly? Directly from DMS when I try to display the file I get an error saying that this file does not have a program which can execute the function.

Hi Camilla,
please check SAP note 918039 and create the FM 'Z_EASYDMS_GETWS_APPLICATIONS'. Please follow exactly the mentioned steps in the note and then EasyDMS should take the settings from DC30 transaction in the backend automatically. So please create this function module and after activating it, the application should be selected automatically.
Please also reset the RFC Cache in EasyDMS.
Additionally please verify that in transaction DC30 the correct entries for the different file formats are maintained.
