Eclipse Pulsar question

Hi, I'm trying to find out what the differences are between using the physical phone connection with eclipse pulsar and just using the emulator. If anyone could be of any assistance or could point me in the direction of somewhere where I could read more about it I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Not all devices are the same, and that goes for the emulator too. Even in my relatively limited experience of JavaME development I've come across code which behaves differently on the emulator and device. In short: the emulator is very useful for earlier development as its fast to run and operate, but towards release time there's no substitute for debugging on the device you actually intend to deploy on, and a physical connection will help you do that by running your App in its intended environment while showing you useful console log on the PC.

J2ME/Eclipse Pulsar/Polish UI - problem with Eclipse integration of JPolish

Hi guys,
I have J2ME SDK 3.0 here with Eclipse Pulsar (with mobile tools for java) and I want to use the J2ME Polish libraries.
I install J2ME Polish 2.1.2 and set the eclipse home directory and the "Integrate mepose with eclipse" tick or something like that.
Anyway, when I restart everything after the installation I can't see the plugin view in my eclipse.
I also can't manage to manually download the plugin from Help>Install new Software>add url : ww.j2mepolish.org/mepose
Any ideas ? I'm new to J2ME at all.

Likewize .. the Polish UI dont show in prefs. Tried with both win/mac but same result.
Its seems like j2mepolish-2.1.2 and pulsar dont want to play ,(

Hi Friends..
I want to know is there any Eclipse Pulsar and JCDE Plugin that still supports for Java Card 2.2.1?
Actually, currently i use Eclipse Pulsar and JCDE Plugin but it support only for Java Card 2.2.2..
I tried to set the Java Card Preference into JCDK 2.2.1, but it couldn't be set because converter.jar isn't compatible..
Please help me regarding this..

There is, but it's very limited.
1. Put the Library on a disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
2. Point both machines at it.
3. That's it.
But remember:
A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.
Also
Only one user can open a library at a time.

Using Toplink with Eclipse - (Newbie question)

If you have (for instance):
* a blank Dynacmic Web Project in Eclipse
* and you have a Workbench Toplink project- say an XML or Database project.
Then you have to save your Toplink project, which spurts out various directories e.g. classes, descriptors, schemas, fooname.mwp etc.
Where do you save this in your Java project - is it at /src? Or someplace else?
I am asking this question because I am having problems when debugging my application - certain xml files cannot be found etc. Anyway I guess I just need to find out if I am getting the basics right for now - so any help will be much appreciated.
PS - Why can't I find a simple tutorial/example showing Eclipse and Toplink - it's all JDeveloper and Ant builds and ahhhhhghghhhgh!

Hi, try the following EclipseLink JPA examples and tutorials for SE and EE environments - oriented around the Eclipse 3.4 IDE (ant capable but WTP ready)
With these you will be able to fully debug your JPA application both on and off any application server.
If you are still deploying your WAR to Tomcat then the following tutorial on running EclipseLink JPA on Tomcat 6 will help you out. Put your additional orm.xml file alongside persistence.xml if you are using functionality beyond standard JPA.

Eclipse newbie question

I just installed eclipse with openjdk6.
When I try to run something, even the most basic hello world thing, I get this:

Are you sure your program is correct logically, mathematically, and in syntax? Try running your files in terminal so eclipse isn't a factor. I'm sorry I can't help any more than that. I use Netbeans from the community res with the official JDK.

Eclipse pulsar and S60 5th edition emulator

Hi all,
I'm new in this world but not in the programming world.
In the last month i've tried to develop something to learn JME but I have a blocking problem...
have a windows 2003 R2 server intalled, Eclipse and the S60 5th edition SDK.
When I try to start a sample application (hello world) the emulator reports:

I cannot find anything on this error...

What the hell are you talking about??? N97 and 5800 are different??? N97 for rich-mans??? Hahahahha Just see this comparison, and you will notice, that N97 and 5800 is almost totally the same device:

Pls Help! Eclipse plugin question...

Hi, I am trying to install the Eclipse Plug-in for the PDK v1.2.0 onto Eclipse (version 3.0.2) but however, it doesn't seem to work. When I go from Windows>Preferences> I don't see any 'Portal Development Kit'. Also, I seem to get the error that this plugin does not support java 1.4. Is there a updated plugin? or is there a way around this?

unfortunately you need Eclipse 2.1 to run the plugin.
It does not work with Eclipse 3.x

Eclipse Configuration Question

I'm migrating from VCafe to Eclipse and am having problems debugging.
Basically, I want to set a breakpoint inside the JRE source libraries but I am only configured to see the JRE class declarations. What do I need to do to configure Eclipse to see the JRE source files ?

When I do I get a dialog with the following:

After OK'ing the dialog nothing changes. Suggestion about where the source is installed ? or even IF it is installed ?

There are still infinite combinations for which Class not found error could have occurred. You should also tell us, whether you have got ClassNotFoundError while compiling or while running the program?(AFAIK ClassNotFoundError comes while running a program not while compilation). What was the program that you were trying to run? Which J2EE container are you using?

Development issue

I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, but I haven't found any discussion forum in the developers section. If there is better place to put my question, please let me know.
So my problem is that I tried to create a Hello world app for Sony Ericsson in Eclipse Pulsar (JDK 6 update 23, Sony Ericsson SDK 2.5.0.6 installed). When trying to compile and run the Hello world code, I get this error:
"Proxy could not open new connection to handset. Could not connect to the device."
The same code works for Symbian SDK for the same Eclipse version. When I tried to google a similar problem, there were few mentionings of it, but no solution.
If you can help me in any way, I would be most grateful!

This is quite far beyond my knowledge but here's what I think.
K510 is not that similar to K530, I think you'll do better by maybe selecting W660 instead (if possible).
But the main problem seems to be the connection between the computer and the phone, maybe it could be worth trying this on another computer.
With software version I was thinking of what software version the phone was running on.

How to run Java Card 2.2.2 sample Wallet Application?

Hi Friends..
I've downloaded Eclipse Pulsar and Java Card Plugins..
and i tried to make an empty applicatio, and then i loaded all samples application into my empty application..
after that, i tried to set AID for Wallet Applet and for package of Wallet Applet..
I've tried to creates a .CAP file, .EXP file, .JCA file, and scripts file through Eclipse Java Card tools..
and then what else i've to do?..
Please give me any suggestion.., because i'm so dizzy.. :(

This is an eclipse/server question... not really a java question.
I have NO IDEA how eclipse interplays with you're (unspecified) server.
I can tell you that typically the standard output and error streams of the J2EE server are redirected by the server startup script to a file in the deployed applications root directory... So have a look around.

Hot code replacement for local application?

i got hot code replacement working during debugging a removet web application (servlet). however, it doesn't work if i debug a simple (local) application. is there something i forgot to setup? (i'm using Eclipse)

This is an eclipse specific question. It is up to Eclipse to do the code replacement.
Have you tried 3.0-M8 ?
