Edge Animate CC – Exception Error

I recently installed the test version of Edge Animate CC – but it doesn't work.
It starts up with a white screen and a popup showing the remaining days of the trail version, as expected.
After assigning the button continue trail, I may create a new document but can't adjust size or anything else without the error code:
"Edge Animate – Exception: An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate" Any ideas? Running on mac osx 10.8.
I already deleted the preference folder – without effect.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Elaine.
Ok, when the update will be ready?, I will try to optimize all to use just 2 symbols with gradients.
Thanks a lot .
P.D: Do you know if video.js works well on EA3?, or any .js script you recommend me. In video.js I can change the CSS easily but style not shown in Android/iOS tablets, only PC.

  • Edge Animate CC 2014 Update (2014.0.1) live now

    Congratulations All!!
    The new update for Edge Animate CC 2014(2014.0.1) is now available on Creative Cloud.
    The following issues have been addressed :
    Resolved compatibility issues with Chrome 36
    Fixed crash when publishing static HTML when the composition contains an empty symbol.
    Port binding issue as mentioned in the link : http://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/kb/found-error-stage-edge-animate.html.
    Please refer to the "What's new" @Edge Animate Help | New features summary  for more details on this update :
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sudeshna Sarkar

    aibun So... it just happened again. This time, I was just moving an image position. Apparently the heavy black shadow around the alert box means Edge Animate keeps generating alert boxes infinitely (screenshot below).
    It's really strange. My MacBook is brand new so I couldn't think of any internal causes.
    Thanks in advance,
    Luna

  • Custom CSS Is Crashing Adobe Edge Animate

    Below is the HTML and CSS for a basic page, with one style. When I open it in Adobe Edge Animate and then create a shape, and set the class of that shape to "mystyle" it displays fine in the Edge Animate window (except the border style appears missing). However, as soon as I try to move the shape, Edge crashes - consistently every time. If I create a DIV on the page outside of Edge Animate first, and apply the CSS to it, then open the page in Edge, I can move the shape around - but I lose several style options in the Properties panel such as Filters and a couple others.
    I'm trying to get a better understanding of what would be the best workflow when trying to use Edge to animate existing web page layouts - creating the animations and DIVs entirely in Edge first then placing the animation into an existing layout, or creating a page layout in something like Dreamweaver (along with all my other custom CSS), then opening it in Edge to animate it.
    I saw elsewhere where someone explained how to attach an external style sheet instead. This seems to work without crashing, however  I cannot see the rendered style on the stage itself, only when I preview the animation in a browser.

              background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%);
              background-image: -o-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%);
              background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%);
              background-image: linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%);
              overflow: hidden;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>

    You could use the styles inside Edge Animate directly in compositionReady. If you have an earlier version of edge for the gradient do:
    For example:
    sym.$('Stage').css({
      'background-image': '-moz-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%)',
              'background-image': '-o-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%)',
             ' background-image': '-webkit-linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%)',
              'background-image': 'linear-gradient(bottom, #ebebeb 0%, #ebebeb 0.27%, #ebebeb 50%, #fff 51%, #d6d6d6 98.93%, #d6d6d6 100%)'
    You can add the other properties  between the {} with the same format:
      'propertyName':'value',
    Newer versions of Animate have gradient from color panel.

  • Edge Animate - Exception    An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate

    I get this error every time I try to open the project I have been working on for days - I've attempted to create a new project and swap out the different pieces/parts from the previous project folder but it still causes the same exception error. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled Edge Animate CC twice, and cleared my preferences. Neither has resolved the issue.

    Hello,
    I had exactly the same problem and in my case I could not resolve it. It appears that somehow the file with contains the editable code gets corrupted leaving only the rendered content which cannot be reverse engineered.
    I had to start all over again.
    It has left a bad taste in my mouth. I do not think that the software is robust enough for professional use yet. I feel very insecure when I am working with it. Constantly expecting it to crash. I now save to two different folders but only compile in one. This helps to avoid the problem in the future.
    Sorry.

  • "edge animate - exception error" (red box, red type) and app won't open

    Hi,
    I'm hoping someone can help me... I'm not quite sure how to go about explaining the situation, but when I try to open Adobe Edge Animate, this "Edge Animate - Exception" error box appears, (please see below) then the program quits unexpectedly. I can't make out what the words say as it has red type on a red background.
    I have Uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, and the same error appears.
    I'm new to this app so I have no clue as to how I go about resolving this issue.
    I hope someone can help me, I know this is brief so please feel free to ask me any further questions.
    Thank you in advance,
    Tom

    Hi Manigandan,
    Thank you very much the problem is resolved, but instead of removing the folder, I placed it on my desktop and placed it back, I have given a more detailed explanation below. And no this is not the entire log on the crash report, it's rather long though.
    I followed your instructions, and removed the '5.0.1' folder that was in the 'Edge Animate' folder and stored it on my desktop. It had no content at the time I moved it, like in the '5.0.0' folder in the image below:
    I then tried to open Edge Animate again, and the 'Red Error box' didn't show up, however it crashed instantly with the same 'Quit unexpectedly' report.
    So I put the '5.0.1' folder back in the 'Edge Animate' folder, and the contents just seemed to be there all of a sudden? (please see image below) and now the program launches fine.
    I am still yet to start a project and see if that works ok whilst working on it, however I will inform you if it works fine or any further problems occur, but for now it is all ok.
    Thank you very much for you help on this.
    Kind Regards,
    Tom

  • Edge Animate - Exception

    Hi,
    this is the second time that i get the following excepting during my work with Edge Animate. I cannot open my project now. Restart Edge Animate doesn´t help. No idea, why it happens.
    Thanks a lot!
    LogFile:
    [1227/102647:ERROR:renderer_main.cc(226)] Running without renderer sandbox
    [1227/102648:INFO:CONSOLE(0)] "event.returnValue is deprecated. Please use the standard event.preventDefault() instead.", source:  (0)

    Having the exact same problem here too.  Has there been any resolution to this problem?  Seems odd that it has been around for so long without any hint that something is being done.
    Here is my file if it helps at all: http://www.filedropper.com/navbartemp Its short and simple but I am afraid of the issue spreading to new or other existent projects that I can still open.
    I tried uninstalling / reinstalling Adobe Edge but had the exact same results.  Going to pester the support people tomorrow in hopes that they have a solution, if they do I will be sure to add what I can here.

  • Installation Error (7) Adobe Edge Animate - Creative Cloud Desktop Application

    I would greatly appreciate help with this, I have scoured the adobe forumns and google and am unable to find a solution.  I am trying to download Adobe Edge Animate from the creative cloud desktop application (PC) and it gives me this error
    !Installation Failed - Learn More
    When I click on learn more it says
    Installation failed
    Errors encountered during installation.(7)
    More information
    However the more information button does not do anything when clicked.  I have had no problems installing my other application, updates and trials with the creative cloud desktop app.
    I have ignored this issue for weeks but I have reached the point in a work project where I need to use the program.  The Desktop application is up-to-date and I even tried disabling my firewall/antivirus but it made no difference.
    Few other details:
    I ran the adobe cleaner for CS6 programs before installing the creative cloud.
    The program fails at 51% Installation.
    Please please please help. Thank you for any information you have and any time you can dedicate to this issue I am having.

    Thank you Jeff, I followed your directions and may have found the issue yet I do now know how to resolve it.
    Some Background:
    When I first installed the Creative Cloud Desktop Application a couple weeks ago I had my main hard drive partitioned into  C: and  D:.
    Because of limited space of my C drive I changed the application install directory (in the Desktop App preferences) to D:.  Despite this it was still installing all the programs to the C:/default path.
    I had posted concerns about this on the forumn after trying restarting and reinstalling yet nothing worked. Despite it listing D: as the install directory it would not install there.
    So finally I just decided to unpartition the drive back to only C:  Prior to the unpartition I was transfering the conents of D to a seperate hard drive and I changed the preferences back to C: in the Desktop app.
    As I was waiting for the files to transfer I decided to start a trial install (as the transfer was taking a while.)  Pushing me over the line of frustration into amusment it then proceeded to install to my D: drive.  At this point it was just doing the opposite of what I wanted.  Regardless I continued with the unpartition and all the applications I have downloaded installed fine since then to my new larger C drive.
    When I looked into the error log for the Edge Animate I noticed this
    08/09/13 15:21:39:504 | [INFO] |  | OOBE | DE |  |  |  | 4300 |  - 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)

    This issue just wont leave me alone.
    As I mentioned before the install directory has been set back to C since before the unpartition and all the other programs have installed fine.  Are there somewhere that secret preferences are stored?  This is all the more unbelievable as I prior to reading your instructions I uninstalled the creative cloud desktop app, ran the adobe cleaner for any pre-CC applications as well as a registry cleaner and reinstalled the Desktop App and tried again.
    Thank you very much for directing me to the reason for the error, can you help me figure out why the CC Desktop App is doing this?

  • The last 'An' update has bug; An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate

    After the last Edge Animate I started to get this error:  An error occurred. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate.  Anyone else having this issue with version 1.5.0.217.23270

    Elaine,
    On the webserver its running fine for being partially completed.  http://dirtyhumanoids.com/publish/web/TonalpohualliAndTheEyeOfProvidence.html
    It's crashing within Animate on all 3 copies.
    Copy 1 was created and saved before last upgrade (no .
    Copy 2 of this file was created before the update and saved a few times before and after the upgrade.
    Copy 3, is just trying to figure out what went wrong with copy 2.  BTW, Copy 1 is also having the same issue.
    The only thing I can think of that I might have messed up on was creating a picture into a symbol much late in the project.
    I wish I knew how to video record my desktop so you could analysis my Edge Animate.

  • Edge Animate loading jquery twice. External jquery plugin error.

    I recently created an interactive map (http://www.lakesofbellaterra.com/Interactive_Map_Demo/Testing/test1.html) using Edge Animate CC  2014.1.1 Release. I used the zoom.min.js plugin from jQuery Zoom to achieve the zooming image effect present when you click on one of the map section and reveal the "section modal". Further more the zoom.js plugin uses jquery 1.7.1. I am deploying this Edge Animate project in a Business Catalyst site using a content holder. Even though the zoom.js plugin works with Internet Explorer 7+ and Firefox I initially was not able to get the zoom.js plugin to work in either browser. After changing the <meta> in the <head> to <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=10,chrome=1"> via suggestion from StackOverflow (internet explorer - What's the difference if <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"> exists or not? - Stac…)  I was able to get the zoom image function to work in Internet Explorer 9+. So now I just need to get this function working in the current version of Firefox 35.0.1.  As of now when I click on the zoom image nothing happens. The console in firebug reports the following JS related errors:
    Using //@ to indicate sourceMappingURL pragmas is deprecated. Use //# instead jquery.min.js:1
    The character encoding of a framed document was not declared. The document may appear different if viewed without the document framing it. LOBT-IxD-SectionMap_edge.js

    The character encoding of a framed document was not declared. The document may appear different if viewed without the document framing it. jquery.zoom-min.js
    Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated.  Use defaultPrevented instead.
    After some research I found a lead (WordPress › Support » how to prevent jquery loading twice?) That suggested that Edge Animate may be loading jquery twice, and that may be the source of the errors. I need to find out why this animation is not working in Firefox.
    Here is a list of things I have already tried that did not work:
    -Changing the utf charset to : <meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8">
    -Changing the version of jquery used from 1.7.1 to the latest release of 1.11.2
    -Changing the image source referenced in the zoom.js call from a .svg to a .png
    -Removing any scripts that may conflict with Edge Animate or zoom.min.js that are being called from within the Business Catalyst page template.
    -Running the project outside of Business Cataylst to see if the error persists (it does)
    Here a link to the Edge Animate project: Dropbox - LOBT Interactive Section Map
    As always any help is determining why Edge Animate projects with a zoom.js plugin do not work in Firefox 35.0.1 would be most appreciated.

    Hi jeremy
    Thanks for sharing the info. We'll look into this and get back.

  • Edge Animate 1.0 Install Error

    After removing Edge Animate Preview 7 program by dragging the application icon to a wastebasket icon on Mac OS,
    new version Edge Animate 1.0 does not installed.
    When installing it with Adobe Application Manager that shows an error message: Delete preview edge version.
    I already know the right way for removing an adobe programs that is using an uninstaller program,
    however how to do in such a case above?

    As Darrell mentioned, you shouldn't just drag it to the wastebasket.  If you have already emptied your Trash, you can use the following tool to remove preview 7:

  • Error when starting Edge Animate

    Need help. Everytime when i start Edge Animate it shows me following error:
    "the requested url/welcome_to_project_edge/WelcomeToEdge.html was not found on this server"
    Chromodoris/0.86.412.230
    What can I do?
    Greetz from Germany

    I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Adobe Tech today. The steps he took:
    Reinstalled Creative Cloud
    Ran Adobe Cleaner
    Reinstalled Edge Animate
    Cleared my Temp and Prefetch folders (I had a lot there)
    None of this worked and the problem has been escalated... however.... after
    I got off the phone I uninstalled the Giraffic program mentioned in this
    thread and everything now works!
    So if anyone else gets this problem my feeling is that probably having too
    much data in my Temp and/or Prefetch folder caused the problem, but the
    Giraffic thing also contributed. For me I only installed Giraffic to try
    and solve the problem so it didn't cause it, but it did prevent other
    maintenance steps from working.
    If Adobe reads this I don't need an escalation anymore!

  • Error when trying to download Adobe Edge Animate trial

    I've been trying to download a trial for Adobe Edge Animate for the last two days and keep getting an error message saying "there is a problem, please try again later."  Can't find a way to contact Adobe directly to see if there is a problem or if/when it will be resolved.  Getting ready to teach this to students beginning in a few days, and would really like to know if the problem will be resolved by then.

    AngNew it is probably the installed security software.  Are you able to install utilizing the Creative Cloud Desktop application?  You can find details regarding the process for installing and uninstalling at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html.
