Edge Code Start Up Bug

Anytime I start my Adobe Edge Code, It asks me If I want to take a survey? make Edge Code, my default CSS and JS editor? every single time I open Edge Code. Also Edge Code keeps on showing what Live Preview is anytime I open it making it frustrating. How do I disable it. Thanks in advance.

In general, that shouldn't cause a problem. But Edge Code has a few extra built-in extensions, so there could be a conflict with one (or more) of the extensions that you are installing.
Start by removing all user extensions from Edge Code and then startup, shutdown, and restart to make sure problem is fixed. If so, try copying over extensions from Brackets to Edge Code one at a time to see if you can isolate the problematic extension.

Edge Code preview 3 : bug report

Sorry, it took me ages to be able to post something of that website (basically, if there's a forum where I can make bug reports for www.adobe.com website, let me know !)
So... this morning i downloaded and installed Edge Code preview 3, and : webfont pannel has gone ! Completely. I tried to run Edge Code preview 2 : webfont panel works perfectly.
I'm pretty happy not be eligible for the upgrade of Dreamweaver CS6 (12.2) made available this morning too : if it's as bugged as is ECP3...

In preview 3, the web font hints don't pop up nearly as agressively as they used to. If you type the first char of any font name, they should appear. Or you can invoke the hints popup explicitly by pressing Ctrl+Space.
We may change the behavior back to how preview 2 worked in the future. Our main concern is to make the hints for CSS property names not overly agressive, since it's harder to predict where you're going to start typing one. But typing CSS property values is a little more predictable, so we might be willing to pop those hints up more often (as in preview 2). Error while trying to open edge-code-quick-edit.png

Hi,
I just installed Edge Code, looks great! A couple of issues I noticed when I started using it:
1. When tried opening one of the files (edge-code-quick-edit.png) displayed in the file explorer on the left side. I get an error while trying to do so.
2. The error dialog's text doesn't seem to be selectable, will be great if error messages can be selected and copied.

Brackets doesn't support opening binary files yet. This includes images. See https://github.com/adobe/brackets/issues/148

Launching Edge code thru terminal for Ruby on Rails

hello
i am studying ruby on rails programming. i just started and I am new to alot things about it.
The tutorials im watching say to use sublime text or some other one. if it makes sense i would like to use edge code because i come from a design background and i trust adobe have the best features by the end of the game.
so in the tutorials they used this command to conect the terminal work we've been studying to sublime text
ln -s /Aplplications/Sublime\ Text\ 2.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl usr/local/bin/subl
and allowed him the edit his .bash_profile in sublime text simply by typing
subl .bash_profile
Im curious to see if there is an equivalent to this for edge code. or am i trying to use the wrong app for ruby on rails?

There is not a way to open a file via the command line with Edge Code (or
Brackets) yet, but you can at least right click on a file and do Open With.
In terms of 'does it make sense to write Ruby code with Edge Code', I can't
answer that. I use Brackets for all my front end code, and Node.js stuff on
the back, but not for any ColdFusion work I do. Best I can suggest is just
to try it out and let us know how it works.

Edge Code will not load in web browser

My OEM edge code will not load in web browser after it has been uploaded to the server. I am using dreamweaver & the OEM file.
The images are all grouped & labeled properly (within Edge Animate). Note the website will not load with ANY web browsers UNLESS you hit the refresh button or reload the web address.

Make sure the Cluster configuration is right. When did you start seeing this problem?
Host A: Dispatcher->server 0, server 2
Host B: Dispatcher->server 0, server 2
i.e The instance IDs are mapped right.
Also try to hit the individual servers in the cluster the following way.
http://hostname1:50000/irj/portal;sapj2ee_irj=instance_id sends a request to server 0.
http://hostname2:51000/irj/portal;sapj2ee_irj=instance_id sends a request to server 1.
This may give more clues. Unfortunately I don't have access to EP6 SP2 to lookup and tell you the right parameters to look for.

Edge Code CC won't load, blank window

I've just downloaded Edge Code via Creative cloud, but when I open up the application the only thing I get is a blank white window titled index.html.
I cant type in it, I don't get any toolbars or menus or anything. Not even the "about Edge Code" From the "Edge Code" menu shows anything.
What can I do?
I have a 2,6 Ghz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro Retina
16 GB RAM (1600 Mhz DDR3)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
OS X 10.8.4

I used Comodo. But I can't remember the steps I'm afraid. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Announcing the Edge Code Preview Update

We've released an updated preview of Edge Code that incorporates a number of new features as well as community contributions. It's available to download at https://creative.adobe.com/apps. Some of the highlights of this release include:
- Enhanced Live Preview Support: Auto-reload in the browser when saving HTML content, local server support for Live Preview, and a Live Highlight mode that will highlight matching HTML elements in the browser when in a CSS document.
- Overall UI: New status bar, resizeable JSLint panel, and saved window positions
- HTML Code Hinting: Get code hinting on HTML tags and attributes
- Files and Folder Enhancements: Added commands and features like rename, new folder, and show in tree. Reorder the working set with drag and drop.

Yikes, that's pretty strange. Can you try this?
Open a command prompt
cd to the download folder
Run this: msiexec /i "Adobe Edge Code Preview.msi" /L*V "install.log"
That should create an install.log file in the same folder. Please reply back here with the contents of that file.

Feature requests for Edge Code (Was: Needed some options...)

I am a photo retoucher & I am new to web designing & started to learn....
I am very happy to have Edge code CC as a code editor really good program. Thanks to Adobe Team...
It would be better if you provide some more options :-
1. If I type <bl in the Edge code CC it shows me blockquote its fine, but if I press spacebar after <bl accidentally then I press backspace to erase the space but after that it does not shows the code hint....
2. I wrote code <h5> This is a headline </h5> and if I want to change h5 to h3, I have to change in both starting tag and end tag is there any option if I change the start tag it would automatically change in the end tag too....
3.It would be nice if the Edge code CC giving dummy text to add. for ex: lorem impsum like....

1. This should be fixed in the next Edge Code CC build. For now, use Ctrl-Space to re-invoke the hit list.
2. That feature has been requested. It should be easy to implement once Edge Code CC has multiple cursor support, which should be coming soon. Stay tuned.
3. There is an extension for this. Use File > Extension Manager, then click Install from URL... and paste in this URL:

Adobe Edge Code Error HELP!

When i try to make a new file it comes up with a error message it says Error creating file, An error when trying to create the file "name.type". The target directory cannot be modified.

You need to pick a different folder, other than Getting Started. If you pick a folder located inside the Edge Code install location (such as Getting Started), you will not be able to create any new files or folders there. If you pick a folder somewhere else, such as inside your Documents folder tree, then it should work.

Uninstalled older edge-code because there were two versions, but now edge code is totally gone.

How can I install edge-code again? When I try to download from adobe, the clooud application starts, shows edge-code ist installed and i have no possibility to install edge-code again.

Are you on Mac or Windows? Mac you should just be able to drag the Edge Code.app file to the trash. On Windows you'll have to go to Add/Remove Programs and remove it from there.

Issue getting Edge Code Preview 3 to enable Remote Debugging

Hi all,
I am using the latest version of Chrome as my default browser. I opened up ECP3 and pointed to the project I wanted to use it for (WordPress site on WAMP server). I then clicked live preview and it opened the URL up properly in Chrome. Moments later, a notification in Edge Code Preview 3 pooped up saying I needed to re-launch Google Chrome with remote debugging enabled. So I clicked Relaunch. Minutes passed, and nothing happened. So I relaunched Chrome myself, clicked live preview again, and the same message comes up.
I have tried launched Chrome via Live Preview, I have restarted my computer, and closed all Pinned Tabs in Chrome. What is going on here?

Can you try forcing Chrome to run with remote debugging enabled? http://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/run-chromium-with-flags - and see if Live Preview works? That's not a solution but will help in figuring out where the break is.
I'm also going to log an issue on this so we can start tracking it.

What is the difference between Brackets and Adobe Edge Code?

Adobe Edge Code is a distribution of the Brackets open source project optimized for professional web designers and developers. This build of Brackets includes community and Adobe-built extensions that are not part of the Brackets open source project. If you are a Creative Cloud member, this is version is made special for you.
But, we're just getting started. Currently we have support for the free Adobe Edge Web Font service. The next release will add support for previewing directly on devices as you develop with Edge Inspect CCM and we'll be adding more integrations over the next few months.

What does it mean when Adobe Edge Code CC (Preview) highlights a line number?

Yes, I agree that better discovery is needed here. I recently opened a bug with some suggestions.
In case you were not aware, Edge Code is built on top of the Brackets editor. You can find out more info in the How to Use Brackets doc and the Troubleshooting Brackets doc.
As far as the syntax error, I can't see enough of your doc to say for sure. I assume that you have an opening <body> tag, but it could be incorrectly nested inside <head> tag. Most likely is that it's not the <body> tag but the tag immediately inside it -- maybe an unclosed <div> tag?

Why can't I access Preferences in Edge Code?

Why can't I access Preferences in Edge Code? I would rather want the HTML and CSS sheets black or very dark grey and then the different HTML and CSS codes in colors rather than this plain black and white input. I cannot even view HTML and CSS side by side in the same window. I have to physically move my hand to switch views. Why isn't that an option that I can access?

The Preferences menu item is grayed out because there is no preferences dialog box yet. It sounds like you're asking for a number of different features, though. Edge Code is based on an open-source editor called Brackets, which is updated more frequently -- so some of the features you're asking about are available already in Brackets even if you're not seeing them in Edge Code.
More specific responses:
Dark color scheme -- this is available in the current Brackets release (View > Themes in the menu).
"HTML and CSS codes in colors rather than plain black and white" -- if you're not seeing color-coded CSS & HTML files in Edge Code, that's a bug. What is the file extension of your files? If you look in the status bar in the lower-right corner, does it say "HTML" or "CSS", or just "Text"? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?
View two files side by side -- this will be available in Brackets release 0.44, which is probably due out in late September.
"I have to physically move my hand to switch views" -- you can switch files without taking your hands off the keyboard using Ctrl-Tab / Ctrl-Shift-Tab (next/previous in MRU order) or using Ctrl-Shift-O (to filter on filename or a subset of the filename).
