Edit Field Validation - Use of the native string.find() Lua Function

Hi,
I have an edit field in which I want to be validated immediately upon change.  I ONLY want to accept alphanumeric characters (a-z and 0-9).  I have tried this many ways, but have failed to get it exactly as I want it.  First I tried Sample Code A, but that line of code fails because combination strings that contain the alphanumeric characters and a special character like the pound sign (#), will validate (Example: "hello1#").  I tried Sample Code B, but that isn't 100% what I want because if you were to add a character that isn't available on the keyboard, such as the copyright symbol or the trademak symbol.  Can someone help me, please?  Thank you.
Sample Code A:
interface:edit_field {
                            value = bind { key = 'new_table', object = properties },
                            fill_horizontal = 1,
                            immediate = true,
                            validate = function (interface, value)
                              if string.find(value, "[a-z%d]")  then
                                return true, value, "good"
                            else
                                    return false, value, "failed"
                                end
                            end
Sample Code B:
interface:edit_field {
                            value = bind { key = 'new_table', object = properties },
                            fill_horizontal = 1,
                            immediate = true,
                            validate = function (interface, value)
                                if string.find(value, "[~!@#$%^&*()_+`-={}|\%[%]:\";'<>?,./]")  then
                                return false, value, "failed"
                            else
                                    return true, value, "good"
                                end
                            end

Hi,
Sample Code A seems the best approach to use.  Trying to detect unwanted characters would be error prone.
I noticed you are mixing character classes and ranges in your string.find pattern.  Have you tried using the following patterns instead?
                              if string.find(value, "[a-z0-9]")  then
or
                              if string.find(value, "[%l%d]")  then
Matt

  • Not valid use of the New word

    Hi,
    I have an old script in visual basic 6 which I need to modify.
    In the variables declaration I have the following:
    Dim test as mscomm
    and later I instantiate this variable in the following way:
    set test = new mscomm
    In the components I have selected the following:
    Microsoft comm control 6.0
    I must say that it works fine when I have this in an ocx but I would like to debug a piece of code. The error is in the line with the New and the error is: Not valid use of the New word.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance. Regards.

    You can't have the "set" in VB.NET.
    If you create a new project and copy-paste the old VB6 code into your file it will convert most of the code for you to be compatible with VB.NET.
    I think MSComm might be a Shared class. If so you don't need "test = new mscomm"
    You can just use "test.CommPort = 2" for example. I'm not sure about this because this is the only example I could find.

  • How to make non editable field after requestor created the shoping cart

    Hi,
    i need to make non editable field (Price field) after requester created the shooping cart.The field should be  non editable only for requster .
    this i need to make when workflow triggers when the buyer sends  back the shopping cart to requester.
    one solution which i found:depend on the status of the shoping cart
    but i dont know whether it is correct way.
    if not please suggest me the solution.

    Hi,
    You can implement the BADI" BBP_UI_CONTROL_BADI".
    You can check for the role of the user who has logged in(e.g. for user REQUESTER,there will be a distinct role to idnetify that the user is a requester) and then acc set the display properties for the field PRICE.
    For sample code pls refer the foll links:

  • How to skip the mandatory field validation for clearing the screen fields

    Hi Friends,
      I have created a module pool screen, and made some fields mandatory. after entering some fields, if i try to clear the fields, am unable to clear. Its throwing the error "Enter all required fields"., since some mandatory fields are there. But i could able to navigate through other screen. Both the "CLEAR" and "NEXT" command are given in the at-exit command only. Next is working but clear is not working.
    Please  provide me the solution.
    Thanks
    Karthikeyan.L

    Hi,
    To avoid automatic input checks you have to assing function type - E to appropriate screen field, which is not to be checked.
    These function codes don't trigger PAI processing, instead they go directly to
    MODULE mod AT EXIT-COMMAND.
    ..placed in PAI of the screen. In this way you can ommit automatic checks performed by system on mandatory fields. Please ensure you have assing E type to next and clear functions in GUI status.

  • Where shouold I find jvm.h used for the native launcher compile?

    I examined the source in src.zip to try to compile the native launcher and to better understand how some of the new features of Java 6 were implemented.
    It includes a reference to jvm.h, but I have not located what I can be sure is the proper copy.
    One copy I found contained a reference to jvm_md.h also referenced but I could not locate a reliable copy of that.
    Where would these, and any other missing, files be found? I would like to compile the launcher for Windows.
    Is there a better forum on which to post such a question as this?

    You need to download the Mircrosoft Windows SDK. Try http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/sdkupdate/
    and click on the link labeled Core SDK.
    It includes windows.h and associated header files.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about adding attachments to list items in app.
    To add attachment to list item in the host web, we should first get the list and the list items from the host web, then add the attachments to the list items.
    There are two articles about retrieve the list and list items in the host web, you can refer to them.
    http://www.dotnetcurry.com/showarticle.aspx?ID=1028
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/93cb27/retrieve-sharepoint-app-host-web-list-items-in-sharepoint-ho/
    What’s more, we can also use the REST API to achieve the same scenario.

  • Field validation using distributed form's "Submit Form" built-in function

    Hello,
    I am hoping someone can help me out with a small problem I'm having. I have a hidden field on a form which is the total of other numeric values on the form with code in place so that if the number doesn't equal what it should, the alert box is displayed. The problem is that it's a distributed form and even though the message is displayed, if you hit submit (Built-in Submit Form) button form on a second attempt, it submits anyway. So the question is, how do I change the built-in API submit button code to catch the error? Because it's a distributed form, am I dealing with global variables vs. form level? I've tried using the "event.rc = false" at the form level to no avail. I can't seem to locate the built-in "submit form" code so that I can change that to make this APP work. Or is there a better way to do this. My validation code is below and I would greatly appreciate anyone's help.
    Thanks,
    Tom
    // JScript source code if (this.getField("RankGame1").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame2").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame3").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame4").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame5").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame6").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame7").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame8").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame9").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame10").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame11").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame12").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame13").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame14").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame15").value > 0 &&     this.getField("RankGame16").value > 0)     {       if (this.getField("RankGameTotal").value == 136) {         } else {         event.rc = false;         app.alert("Please check your confidence points. They should add up to 136, but are adding up to " + this.getFiel         ("RankGameTotal").value + ".");        }     } else { }

    try67,
    Thanks for your reply. When you say to "remove the Submit action, and submit the form yourself inside your code" are you refering to the
    distributed forms "Submit Form" button displayed on the purple tool bar of the distributed form? And if so, could you please let me know how I can do that? I've
    looked into that and haven't found an answer. Doing that would solve my problem of having my own submit code acting correctly and the
    distributed forms "Submit form" code not having any idea about my forms desired field value.
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • How to capture Field validation errors in the Error table in ODI 11g

    Hello,
    We are using ODI 11g (11.1.1.5) and the scenario is to read the data from a flat file (.txt) and do a bulk insert into MS SQL Server database table.
    We need to capture the error records (if the source field size is greater than the target column size) into the error table. However the interface errors out at step "Loading - SrcSet0 - Load data (BULK INSERT)" with error message "SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Bulk load data conversion error (truncation) for row 33, column 6" but these errors are not being inserted into the error table.
    Is there a way to capture these errors in the error table? Below is the KM details.
    LKM: LKM File to MSSQL (BULK)
    CKM: CKM SQL
    IKM: IKM MSSQL Incremental Update
    FLOW_CONTROL is set to true for the IKM.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hello,
    I had the same problem with ODI when I was trying BULK INSERT of the txt file into MS SQL. Check the cell(s) in your source file (txt) - it looks like the value in hte cell has hiding symbols: when pressing F2 tryng edit the value in the cell the coursor appared far to the right from the right end of the value. So, try to use backspace to delete the hiding symbols and verify the above. If avasrything is OK, then modify your txt file. Let me know if it works.
    BTW , I've created procedure inside the MS SQL 2008R2, which BULK INSERTed records into temporary (#...) table and immediatelly, without any verification all the records were inserted into the final table in the DWH here is the statement:
    if object_id('TEMPDB..#<table>','U') is not null drop table #<table>
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[#<table>]
    [1] [varchar] (50) NULL,
    [2] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [3] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [4] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [5] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [6] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [7] [varchar]  (100) NULL,
    [8] [varchar] (100) NULL,

    [10] [varchar] (100) NULL,
    [11] [varchar] (100) NULL
    ) ON [PRIMARY]
    bulk INSERT #<table> FROM 'N:\<table>.txt'
    with
    (FIRSTROW=2,KEEPNULLS,CODEPAGE=1252,FIELDTERMINATOR='\t'
    INSERT
    INTO <table>
    SELECT

    and it works! Let me also know if you find any other way around.

    Your best bet is to buy the book at US$55.

  • Unable to save PDF's that have editable fields

    I am unable to save forms that have editable fields. I get the error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk"
    I am running windows xp, and started with reader 10.1.4 having this issue, now i upgraded to 11 and same results. My co workers can save the same form and i have over 80 gb of free space on my hard drive which is where i am saving it to. I have tried saving it to other locations on my hard drive but get the same message. I can however save pdf files that have no fillable forms in them just fine.
    I could really use some help.
    Thanks

    Figured out prtected mode was set to enabled on startup. Turned that off and no more problems.

  • How to insert a HYPERLINK in a template Editable Field?

    Question:  How to insert a HYPERLINK in a template Editable Field?
    Hi
    Does anyone know how to insert a HYPERLINK in a template Editable Field?
    I want the link to always display the word "Cities".
    But the URL will change with each child page.
    Here's what I've got so far . . .
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="Cities" -->Cities<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    Thanks so much!

    NOTE: This is to go into the TEMPLATE
    Your best bet is to keep the hyperlink OUT of the editable Field and to make the HREF attribute of the link editable.
    This would go in the head of your document:
    <!-- TemplateParam name="href" type="URL" value="" -->
    This would go where you want the link to appear:
    <a href="@@(href)@@">cities</a>
    THE BETTER WAY: You can either paste these quotes into the appropriate places in your template or you can insert:
    <a href="#">cities</a>
    and click inside the opening <a> tag.
    Then go to Modify > Templates > Make Attribute Editable
    In the dialog box "Editable Tag Attributes" you should now see "Choose which attributes of this A tag should be editable."
    If HREF is not showing in the drop-down, do Add and put it there.
    Check the box to Make this attribute editable.
    Give a name for this editable attribute (if you have more than one on a page, you will want it to be understandable, like "cities" for your cities links).
    Make sure it is of Type URL
    If you want a default URL in place, put one in the Default field.
    Then push OK.
    To use it, on each page, do Modify > Template Properties... choose the property to edit, and put the new URL in the entry field.
    Press OK.

  • [JNI Beginner] GC of Java arrays returned by the native code

    Hello all,
    I am beginning with JNI, to integrate a C library that pilots an industrial equipment, into a java UI. This library enables to exchange various proprietary PDUs (protocol data units), with the equipment, up and down (request/replies). Both requests and replies are arrays of bytes (+char*+).
    "Request" byte arrays are constructed by Java code, which passes them to the JNI code that glues with the lib. "Reply" byte arrays are returned to the Java code, which analyzes them.
    The "return reply" part is very similar to this [tutorial example|http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/JDCBook/jniexamp.html] , which returns bytes read from a file. However there's something I don't understand with regard to garbage collection of the returned byte array:
    - in this stock example, the C code creates a Java byte array fills it, and simply returns it (example code stripped to highlight only the parts relevant to my question):
        jByteArray=(*env)->NewByteArray(env, size);
        (*env)->SetByteArrayRegion(env, jByteArray, 0, size, (jbyte *)sourceBytes);
        return (jByteArray);What will happen to this Java array (jByteArray) with regard to garbage collection?
    - if it's no more referenced (the example Java code just systemouts it and forgets it), will it be eligible to GC?
    - if it is referenced by a Java variable (in my case, I plan to keep a reference to several replies as the business logic requires to analyze several of them together), do regular Java language GC rules apply, and prevent eligibility of the array to GC as long as it's referenced?
    That may sound obvious, but what mixes me up is that the same tutorial describes memory issues in subsequent chapters: spécifically, the section on "passing arrays states that:
    [in the example] the array is returned to the calling Java language method, which in turn, garbage collects the reference to the array when it is no longer usedThis seems to answer "yes" to both my questions above :o) But it goes on:
    The array can be explicitly freed with the following call:
    {code} (*env)-> ReleaseByteArrayElements(env, jByteArray, (jbyte *)sourceBytes, 0);{code}Under what circumstances would one need to explicitly free jByteArray when it's about to be returned to the Java calling method? Or does this sentence apply to completely different situations (such as, when the array is +not+ returned as is to a Java method)?
    The tutorial's next section has a much-expected +memory issues+ paragraph, from which I quote:
    By default, JNI uses local references when creating objects inside a native method. This means when the method returns, the references are eligible to be garbage collected.I assume this means, +unless the references are assigned, in the Java code, to a Java variable+, right?
    If you want an object to persist across native method calls, use a global reference instead. A global reference is created from a local reference by calling NewGlobalReference on the the local reference.I assume this enables the C code to maintain a global reference to a java object even if it's not referenced anymore from the Java variables, right?
    I also checked the [JNI specification|http://download-llnw.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jni/spec/design.html#wp1242] , but this didn't clear the doubt completely:
    *Global and Local References*
    The JNI divides object references used by the native code into two categories: local and global references. Local references are valid for the duration of a native method call, and are automatically freed after the native method returns. Global references remain valid until they are explicitly freed.
    Objects are passed to native methods as local references. All Java objects returned by JNI functions are local references. The JNI allows the programmer to create global references from local references. JNI functions that expect Java objects accept both global and local references. A native method may return a local or global reference to the VM as its resultAgain I assume the intent is that Global references are meant for objects that have to survive across native calls, regardless of whether they are referenced by Java code. But what worries me is that combining both sentences end up in +All Java objects returned by JNI functions are local references (...) and are automatically freed after the native method returns.+.
    Could you clarify how to make sure that my Java byte arrays, be they allocated in C code, behave consistently with a Java array allocated in Java code (I'm familiar already with GC of "regular" Java objects)?
    Thanks in advance, and best regards,
    J.

        jByteArray=(*env)->NewByteArray(env, size);
    (*env)->SetByteArrayRegion(env, jByteArray, 0, size, (jbyte *)sourceBytes);
    return (jByteArray);What will happen to this Java array (jByteArray) with regard to garbage collection?It will be collected when it is no longer referenced.
    The fact that you created it in jni doesn't change that.
    The array can be explicitly freed with the following call:
    (*env)-> ReleaseByteArrayElements(env, jByteArray, (jbyte *)sourceBytes, 0);Under what circumstances would one need to explicitly free jByteArray when it's about to be returned to the Java calling method? Or does this sentence apply to completely different situations (such as, when the array is not returned as is to a Java method)?
    Per what the tutorial says it is either poorly worded or just wrong.
    An array which has been properly initialized it a just a java object. Thus it can be freed like any other object.
    Per your original question that does not concern you because you return it.
    In terms of why you need to explicitly free local references.
    [http://download-llnw.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jni/spec/design.html#wp16785]
    The tutorial's next section has a much-expected memory issues paragraph, from which I quote:
    By default, JNI uses local references when creating objects inside a native method. This means when the method returns, the references are eligible to be garbage collected.I assume this means, unless the references are assigned, in the Java code, to a Java variable, right?As stated it is not precise.
    The created objects are tracked by the VM. When they are eligible to be collected they are.
    If you create a local reference and do NOTHING that creates an active reference elsewhere then when the executing thread returns to the VM then the local references are eligible to be collected.
    >
    If you want an object to persist across native method calls, use a global reference instead. A global reference is created from a local reference by calling NewGlobalReference on the the local reference.That is not precise. The scope is the executing thread. You can pass a local reference to another method without problem.
    I assume this enables the C code to maintain a global reference to a java object even if it's not referenced anymore from the Java variables, right?
    It enables access to it to be insured across multiple threads in terms of execution scope. Normally you should not use them.

  • Editing 5.1 Using SPDIF

    I am using a sound card from my computer that outputs over my digital SPDIF connection directly to a receiver that decodes Dolkby, PCM, etc... If I am watchign a movie or listening to audio that is encoding, I have no problem with surround sound. I would like to edit multi-channel 5.1 directly in Adobe Audition over the SPDIF connection.
    From what I have read, Adobe Audition is sending the signal directly over the SPDIF conenction to my receiver correctly. Since it is not an encoded audio that would be 5.1, it is playing the stereo signal as it should.
    I have tried using ASIO drivers and adjusting the settings on my sound card.
    Based on the data I have read and information by others, I cannot edit 5.1 over the SPDIF conneciton because it is not a 5.1 channel audio file yet. SO my question is, can I edit 5.1 using only the SPDIF conneciton or am I going to have to use the 5.1 speaker outputs from my sound card for the editing?
    Again, I am making the assumption that the 5.1 speaker setup for editing will be my only option, but I wanted to verify and see if anyone else had suggestions.
    Thanks!

    This is what I figured. I was hoping I could natively go right out of Audition from my SPDIF and hear each discrete channel and do editing that way. I will just get a five speaker system that connects directly into my sound card so I can do each channel seprately that way. Thank you for confirming my suspicious!

  • Delimiter for the Spreadsheet string to array

    Hello,
       I would like to use the Spreadsheet string to array function to process the data obtained from reading a text file that has 2 columns separated by at least one space character. Can the spreadsheet string to array have delimiters other than a comma or tab?
    Regards,
    Kaspar

    Here's an example of what I had in mind (LabVIEW 8.0). (The delimiter constants are displayed in "'\'-codes").
    As you can see, it ignores consecutive delimiters (even empty lines )
