Edit Key Mapping

Hi Folks,
I have encounter one problem while doing merging of two records either in Vendor or in Material. I have set EDIT KEY MAPPING in console as ON .
But after merging two  records i am not getting any records in the EDIT KEY MAPPING pop-up it is blank.
Please suggest any change which i have do and for information i am using Maps saved from standard maps.
Much thanks in advance
Rohit

Hi Rohit,
   Please check following console settings:
  Unload the repository.
In left pane in the console select the repository on which remote key mapping is to be applied .After this from the right pane select the table on which remote key to be applied and enable the key mapping by making it ‘YES’.
If you are using the Main table then Select Main Table like Vendors/Customers/Product  in your right pane of Console i.e. <i>Tables</i> pane and enable the key mapping by making it ‘YES’ for this table.
Now In Import Manager <i>select source table and select that destination table for which you enabled key mapping</i> just create one Clone field which can provide useful info e.g. you can create clone of Important fields like <b>Customer ID for Customer table or Vendor Number  for vendors table. </b>
Now check it out and let me know.
Please revert if any queries.
Thanks and Regards,

  • Import Key Mapping of many Remote Systems in one step

    Hi,
I have to update the key mapping of a flat table. My problem is that I have more than 30 remote systems.
Is it possible to import the key mapping of more than one system in one step?
If there is now way to do it with Import Manager can I use APAP API to edit key mapping?
    Much thanks in advance
    Klaus

    Hi Klaus,
Unfortunately it is not possible to update keys for multiple remote system in one go using import manager.
But you can use ABAP API or JAVA API to edit remote key mapping. using these API you can write a program/application to update keys for multiple remote system.

  • Key mapping in Syndication

    Hi,
I am working on Vendor master data.
The standerd syndication map for Vendor to R/3 system has the authorization groups mapped to BEGRU at target.
    Well source is like
    - authorization group
        [Remote key]       -
    Mapped to------->  BEGRU
        Name [DF]
Where as the '[Remote key] ' field does not contain any value!!! and moreover the Name field has the value of authorization!!!
Then why did the [Remote key] FIELD mapped to BEGRU ??
I have worked on key mapping concept where a field is expecting different codes of same data from different systems are maintained in Edit key mapping tab.
This is achived by CLONING the code field and mapping it to remote Key field.
Can anyone help me in this issue!!!
    Kind Regards
    Eva

    Hi,
Firstly i wish to clear that
    1)  in syndicator the table selected is 'Vendor' maintable.
    2) structure of vendor is
         --  Vendor
               - Remote Key
                     Remote System
                     Value
               +Vendor number
               +Account Group
               - Authorozation group
                     Remote key             -
    mapped to --> BEGRU
                      Name
               + Trading partner
Now like you said to add a code field at the source end, i have only 1 incoming value, so the NAME field it self is cloned .
it has RS specific data in the EDIT KEY mapping table.
Now, In syndicator if i map Name field to the BEGRU i will get  ALL the values which are maintained in the  main table RECORD.
If i wish to send the RS specific data only then how to do it??
If i select the Authorization grp Table in Syndicator then i can see the source structure as
      --  Authorization grp
               - Remote Key
                     Remote System
                     Value
                 Name
Here if i map Value field then i get my Output.
But I guess we need to do the mapping at Main table level to create a single XSD right!!!
    Or am i confused..
    Please clarify me..
    Kind Regards
    Eva

  • Key Mapping error

    Hello All,
    I'm working with MDM 5.5 SP4.
I've created a repository (in the MDM Console) with the option <i>Key Mapping = Yes</i>. Then I import data from 2 client systems (CRM  & ERP)successfully.
However after data consolidation, the option edit key mapping (in MDM data manager) is not available?
    What is wrong? Any idea?

    Hi ,
Have you mapped the remote key in your main table while importing the data in the IM ? For example, if you are working with the customer scenario - map the incoming source customer number from your CRM system to the remote key field in the destination. Make a clone of the custoemr field & then map it to the custoemr field present in the destination.
Similarly follow the same process while importing the data from you ERP/other system. Now if you right click on a record in the DM you will have the key mapping.
    Hope this helps !

  • Key mapping missing - MDM5.5 client

    Hi
I have successfully imported Materials, when see the same in the client ( right click the material and edit key mapping ) key mapping field is missing . Kindly clarify me what could be the reason for the same.
    thanks
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
Just add to Ravi's detailed explanation, make sure that you chose the display fields accurately.  For every one of your tables, figure out what field(s) make the record unique, and flag them as display fields. Make sure that key mapping is turned on, per the instructions.
Truncate the data you already loaded, and reload the data.  While reloading the data using import manager, there are a couple of things you need to take care:
    a) if you have one field as display field, then clone the source field data, map the original field to remote key on the destination pane, and map the clone to the field.
    b) if you have 2 fields as display fields, either use partitioning or compund key option, and map the composite key to the remote key.
Hope this is helpful.  All the best!

  • Key Mapping for Flat lookup tables

    Hi,
How do we decide if we need to make Key Mapping "Yes" for flat look-up tables?
Can anyone plz explain with an eg on where to make key mapping yes or no for Flat Tables.
    Thanks,
    Ketan

    Hi,
Can anyone plz explain with an eg on where to make key mapping yes or no for Flat Tables.
    1. A remote system’s objects are mapped to master data objects within MDM using key mapping. A key mapping maintains the relationship between the remote system’s identifier (or key) for an object and the corresponding master data object in MDM.
    2. in the data manger based upon some strategy, you found that 4 records are duplicate, and then you merged into single record.
the merged record is having 4 records inside it with respective remote keys.
if you want to edit those records, key mapping should be enabled for that particular table.
    3. while harmonizing the records to the respective client systems, you can use edit key mapping functionality for merged records.
if you enabled key mapping functionality in the console for the particular table, then only you can aceess EDIT KEY MAPPINGS functionality in data manager & syndicator.
    hope this may help you,

  • Key Mapping in Hierarchy Table

    Hi,
I have enabled the Key Mapping = Yes  for Hierarchy table. But when I imported the records to the Hierarchy table, I am not seeing any key mapping info for the Hierarchy table records. Any thoughts?. Key mapping does not work for Hierarchy tables?.
    Thanks
    Job.

    Hi Job
Key mappings work fine with hierarchy table as well. What was the means of import for hierarchy table. If you have used a excel file and while connecting to Import manager which remote system you selected. If you have used MDM as remote system key mapping will be blank. we need to add the record key mappings. Select all the records in record mode for hierarchy table and edit key mappings.
Also which mode you are ssing the records. This will not come in hierarchy mode, select record mode and check the edit key mapping functionality.
    Please award if useful.

  • MDM Key Mapping

    Hello Experts,
Please help me to understand the Key Mapping concept in context to SAP MDM.
How the key mapping values get created while importing the data through the import manager and what role key mapping playes while importing the reference or look up data for the first time.
    Thanks.

    Hello Rajan,
As all of us one of the main functions of MDM is to eliminate duplicates ok?
now let consider that you have 2 offices one at US and another in India. lets say that you use citi bank both in india and US to do the transcations, of course there are also some other banks that you deal with.
As you know any transcation that you do with  CITI bank(US) is not same as CITI bank(IND). Which means even though the bank is same these two are 2 different entities.
know lets built a table for list of banks that you do transcations both in india and US
      BANKS-US
bank num - 1     bank name - barkalays
                - 2                 south american bank
                - 3                 millenium bank
                - 4                 Citi bank
                - 5                 american express
      Bank - IND
bank num - 1        bank name - sbi
bank num - 2                    ING Vysa
                  3                    citi bank
                  4                    punjab national bank
now when we are import all these data into MDM citi bank will be always a duplicate records. BUT IT IS NOT ACTUALLY DUPLICATE since it record1 of citi bank belongs to US and other belongs to IND.
So inorder to over come this one what I create tha remote system ( we can create this in remote systems table under admin node ) in MDM where  i name all the data coming from US as BANK-US and from IND as BANK-IND
now when we import data into MDM we log in into respective remote system for example if I am to import data from US i specify my remote system as BANK-US and similarly with india and import data. So now when  you see the data in data manager you can find only 1 records of CITI bank.
now if you want to see which citi bank it is right click press "edit key mapping" there you can citi bank record of both the systems.
Similarly the same concept applys for objects also i.e when similar record belongs to two different objects

  • Update key mapping via web service

    Hi ,
I have a question about edit key mapping. The problem is that we create vendors in MDM and syndicate them to different ERP systems. To decide which system a new vendor/changes must be send to, I need the Edit Key Mapping, but the users do not want to enter this information manually and I do not see how I can create key mapping automatically.
We are working on a new solution where vendors are entered in sharepoint and updated in MDM via web services. I would like to know if one of you know if key mapping can be maintained via a web service.
    Kind regards

  • Key Mapping in Forms 10g

    Dear All,
I have migrated forms 3.0 in unix to forms 10g in windows 2003 server.
In my older version, '+' key is mapped to do COMMIT. I want to map the same key in forms 10g. i tried the same in my frmweb.res. Pls find the mapping done by me below.
    *107 : 0 : "Add" : 36 : "Commit"*
    This works fine.
The Issue is ... My cursor is in a text item .... I entered some data and press " + " key to save. The data is saved but at the same time the data in the text item is erased and + is getting replaced in the text item. I dont want my data to be erased and replaced with "+" symbol.
How to map the "+" just for COMMIT and should not replace the data in the text item ?
Can anyone help me to solve this issue...
    Thanks in Advance

Unfortunately, sometimes the role of the developer is to educate the user/management what can/can't and should/shouldn't be done. If I were in your postition, I would make every effort to educate the user/management this this is a REALLY bad idea and encourage them to use the standard key mapping or use a modifed key mapping that uses just the F-Keys.
The problem you have to overcome is that you have to not only tell Forms to do something different when the '+' key is pressed, but you have to have a listener in your application that is listening for the '+' key and supress the '+' character. To my knowledge, this cannot be done with native Forms built-ins. You would have to write your own Java solution (JavaBean or Pluggable Java Component [PJC]) to suppress the '+'. I have found that if you can provide the user/management with a cost estimate associated with the effort needed to code a particular feature. Once they realize the level effort and more importantly the cost associated with coding a particular feature, they typically will change their mind and see reason.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but I hope it will help anyway. :(

  • Can Key Mapping details be available as a serach parameter in MDM DM?

    Hello Experts,
Is there any way that we can display or search certain Records in Data Manager/Portal based on the Key Mapping details (Remote System/Key Value assigned for any remote system).
The scenario where I am trying to apply this is:
I have say lacs of records in MDM and i have merged certain records into a new record (Record1) and assigned key mappings to this record1 to point to System1 and System2.
System1 has the key value as ABC and System2 has value set as DEF. If any user wants to now find the merged record based on the key value of system2 (i.e DEF), how will he proceed?
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks and Regrads,
    Elizabeth.

    Hi Elizabeth,
In MDM Data Manager, once the record is merged you can see only one record in place of all merged records.
In your case ABC from system1 and DEF from system2 are merged into ABC.
So in data manager you can just search the record based on ABC but not DEF.
However, if you select the record ABC and right click and select Edit key mappings, then you will see both the records and its respective system.
So the work around is using syndicator, send the records in excel sheet or CSV file where you can send both the merged records with merged values.
The users can make a search in that CSV file with DEF as well.

    Sravan

  • MDM Exception: Key mapping value must be unique. You cannot overwrite key

I received such exception when code tried to manipulate Key Mappings of the record.

What is probable reason of this?
    How to resolve this ?
    Code is approximate so:

                        if (recordKeyMapping.containsKeyMapping(remoteSystem)) {
                    recordKeyMapping.replace(remoteSystem, keys);

              else {
                   keyMapping.setKeys(keys);
         public void addKeyMapping(KeyMapping keyMapping) {
              RemoteSystem remoteSystem = keyMapping.getRemoteSystem();

                   addKey(remoteSystem, (String) keyMapping.get(i));

    Hello -
I am not sure on that coding part. but is it like are you trying to retrive Key Mapping from Memory accelerator. Here this information always needs to be read from Database.
I am sure you also maintained  the required attribute for key mapping as in Property in Console should be set as "Yes" and other relevant things properly .
Here also go through the below link for more insight from tools perspective.

  • Key mapping not working in FB4

In Windows/Preferences/General/Keys..  I've built the following key mapping.  I want to be able to press F9 key on my keyboard, and, whether I'm in Source editor view, or MXML design view, I want to start the compile and run process.  But I can't get it to work.  I've set the preference, and shut down and restarted FB4 several times.  Here is the mapping.  What am I doing wrong?
Run... F9 ... Editing Flex Source
Run... F9 ... In MXML Design Mode.
    Neither works.

    DOH!  I found the answer...

You have to use the Oracle Terminal Editor to create key mappings. D2k uses a file called FMR*.RES for key mapping. Look in the Forms directory and you will find this file. Open the RES file with Oraterm and edit.
