Editing a note in the iCal bubble.......

Hello All:
I am new to iCal and have come across an issue that I cannot explain. I use apple+E to edit an event however, it will not allow me to edit the notes in that event.
I have tried what seems like everything and I can edit anything else in the bubble just not this part.

I re-installed iTunes 8. It loaded, but when I plugged in my Ipod, it said that the Ipod needed to be updated/restored, 'click to contact updater' but then it could not contact the server. I tried: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814but it didn't help.
I tried downloading iTunes 9, it loaded, but the Ipod would not connect.

You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Take a look at the first article below to give more information on that. As far as your other questions about calling someone, I have provided two options for you. hello, when my Q10 work account isn't responding ,its ask me to "tap for more info" , i go to "System Setting" - Accounts --Set up email --select my work account email address (show "Not Connected) -- "Edit Account" -Configure the account settings for- always in red font : -Not All Connections were closed in the alloted time. no matter how I change server address, port and smtp server address , SSL..etc..finally solve is to keep delete my work email account and re-install. this is happen on my own work email address account. i have another recruit email work account with same company domain name. but never have this problem. hotmail, yahoo doesnt happen also. may anyone can help ? or only solution is to keep delete and re-install. fyi., this is my second Q10 used 4 mths back. 2st Q10 doesnt happen for all work and personal mail account.Thanks alot.

I want to see the full size of the .swf on the slide in editing view, not just the thumbnail

I have a very nice PPT that I created and I've tried everthing to bring the files in to get the best looking quality = not easy.
What I found to the be the best thing is to publish the PPT file to Presenter and then you have a .swf of each slide which looks really clear!
The problem is, I want to use those images as my slide layouts and then add a few Captivate things from there. Problem - the .swf files appear in the really small thumbnail view in the editing mode of Catpivate!! How can I view them in their actual size, like how you view a JPG or something in Captivate.

Multicam editing, but not "on the fly."

Using USB 2.0 hard drives I can edit 4 DV clips on the fly but only 2 1920x1080 ProRes 422 before dropped frames occur. FW800 will allow more.
However, I seem to recollect that muliclips can be edited carefully and slowly rather than playing and editing in real time.
Is this possible with FCP X and how would I go about it?
Assuming it is possible, would I be correct in thinking that more clips could be used and because I wouldn't be "playing" them there would be no problem with dropped frames?

Another peculiar thing has occurred. I tend to use USB 2.0 HDs more than FW and recently on test I could only get 2 angles of 1080i ProRes 422 to play without dropped frames.
3 angles or more choked the playback, but today I am able to do 4 angles reasonably smoothly though I get a dropped frames warning at the end.
I'm puzzled as to why I got the 2 very differing results.
Anyway that's all academic as by using the method you outlined it doesn't really matter how slow the HD is.

Flash slide show - buttons working on edit modus, not on the scene

We have made a slide show of pictures scrolling down on the
right side of the screen. We converted the slideshow to a movie
clip. The pictures in the slide show are also buttons. When you
click on a button (small picture), a big sample of the picture
should be loaded on the scene, for this we use the LoadMovie
command. But when I tried to put action on the buttons, the action
didn't act on the scene, but on edit level since the movie clip
became kind of a nested symbol.
Do we have to copy and paste the frames (for the slideshow)
back to the scene and get rid of the movie clip symbol? Or are
there anything else we can do to solve the problem?

Yes, I guess that is the problem, it doesn't know where to
load the picture, and starts a new window. I have tried several of
the different global properties, but so far with no success. I also
tried your suggestion, twice _parent, but it didn't work.
I would be glad to upload the FLA file, but how do I do it?

I can not sync my iCal in my Mac Book Pro with other iOS5 Devices. The server responded with "507" to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

That may not be what you want, but it's what's going to happen if you sync it to your Mac. You are trying to sync media to your phone from an iTunes library other than the one it is set up to sync with.
Transfer the data from the computer you have been syncing with to the new one, then set up a new sync relationship.

How can I show only text edits and not text formatting when using print comments summary?

Acrobat 9.3.0 for Mac.
Here is the scenario: I used the Compare command to see the changes between 2 PDFs. The resulting file some edits are inserts and some are deletions. I want to print a comments summary only showing the text edits. In the Compare Option pane, I select Text and deselect Images, Annotations, Formatting, Headers/Footers, and Backgrounds. Now on the screen I see inserts are highlighted in blue and deletions are marked with sort of a caret and vertical bar symbol. So all looks good at this point. However, when I show the Comments List, I see addtional comments that indicate "Replace - The following text attributes were changed: fill color." Those comments do not appear in the page view unless I check the Formatting check box to show them. With Formatting unchecked, I print a comments summary and all of the "Replace - Fill Color" comments" appear on the resulting comments summary.
I only want to show text edits, not text formatting changes. So questions are:
1. Why, when the Formatting checkbox is unchecked, do the text formatting comments still appear in the comments list when they do not appear on the page display.
2. How can I print only the text content edits and not show the text formatting changes when using Print Comments Summary.

You can set ExecuteWithParams as default activity in the task flow then method activity to return total no of rows passing to Router activity if your method has value 0 then call Create insert operation else do directly to page.
Following idea could be your task flow
Execute With param (default) > SetCurrentRowWithKey > GetTotalNoOfRows (VOImpl Method)

1. If pageFlowScope outcome is 0 then call CreateInsert > MyPage
2. if pageFlowScope outcome > 0 then MyPage

I FINALLY figured out the iCal to Google sync!!!

This is not as straight forward as some would lead you to believe! Once you have done it, it's surprisingly simple, but you have to do the steps in order. Here's what I've found:
1st - create your iCal calendar with all the entries and calendars you wish.
2nd - create a BLANK Google calendar to use (not a sub-calenday, but your main Google Calendar)
3rd - in iCal, export each calendar you have (if only one, fine) to your desktop
4th - in Google Calendar create those same calendar titles (this is where you'll be importing the exported iCal calendars too)
5th - import exported iCal calendars into matching google calendars
6th - in iCal turn off your calendars by unchecking them
7th - in iCal go to iCal > Preferences > at the bottom of the "Accounts" box there will be a "+" and "-" signs. click on the "+" and follow the prompts.
8th - once the link is set up go to the "delegations" tab and there should be a list of all the calendars (except if you only had one, and then this does not apply). select each calendar you want to sync with.
9th - Now you can go back to the calendar portion of iCal and delete all the iCal calendars. There should be a list of Delegates that matches the iCal calendars you are deleting. If not DO NOT DELETE the ICal Calendars. Start over!

When I originally imported the *.ics file I received this message: Failed to import events: Unable to process your iCal/CSV file..
Most of the events moved over. The sync seemed to not care when or by whom the events were created. There were events created by the same person with the same parameters, and not all those events moved over. Ones created on the iCal prior to export did not come over at all, but still show in iCal.
I also need to mention the iCal is linked to the Entourage. I did not delete that calendar from iCal, so not sure if that would create an issue. It is unchecked though. I am leary of deleting the calendars not knowing if the Entourage link will be lost. The events on this computer all come through Entourage (the program is also used for emails and address book).

Edited/commented on PDF using Adobe Reader iphone 5 and e-mailed to myself so I could review on PC laptop. I opened on laptop and although I could see the comment bubbles, I was not able to open them to see the comments.

ICal Alarm Editing Bug, not fixed yet in 10.5.3?

Hi All Mac users,
I have noticed this bug for quite a long while, which I cannot remember from when, but I think it was from around 10.3 or 10.4. I am used to it, and can deal with this since I know it. But, it still seems to persist even after updating to 10.5.3, and I have finally wanted to raise the issue up to this forum, in order to get it fixed, or obtain knowledge on how to fix this in my Mac.
When you double-click or Command+I an event in iCal, the detail of the event shows up, and you click "Edit" button at the bottom to edit it. Most of my events' "Alarm" are set as "Alarm with Sound". To edit this, you click right next to "Alarm" to bring out the pull-down menu. You can change "Alarm with Sound" to "No Alarm", etc. Also, you will see a list of the latest settings you used at the bottom of this pull-down menu, with date, time and sound, etc. to choose from.
*My Bug Phenotype:*
ALL of the listed settings in this pull-down menu are EXACTLY *4 hours* (FOUR HOURS) later of what that actually sets and do. For instance, I set a new event at "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound". This setting will newly show up in the for-mentioned pull-down menu. But, because of a bug or by an unknown reason, within the list it shows "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound", showing the time 4 hours later. Continuously, if you edit another event's alarm setting, and choose the previous setting of erroneous "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound" that shows up from the pull-down menu, the event you're editing will actually be set to "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound", which is correct with the very original setting I first used, but then again it is 4 hours ahead of what you see in the pull-down list. Once set, all event will show the proper Alarm time set, and work at the correct timing. It seems that there's a bug just in this pull-down menu showing the previous settings, adding and showing 4 hours later to what it should be, but also correctly stores and set the original time.
Does everybody understand what I tried to explain?
Does anyone else have the same experience?
Is this just me?
Is it always 4 hours?
Any way to fix this?
Is this an iCal Bug, to be fixed?

1. Try refreshing the iCal plist file. Navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your desktop, log out/in or restart.
2. What time do you have set in your iCal Time Zone Window?
3. Have you tried to change your settings in System Preferences...>International>Formats>(Region:) (Dates) (Times)? Customize... Quit iCal before changing these settings, and repeat #1 above before opening iCal.
4. Do you have a default time checked in iCal>Preferences...>General>Add a default alarm to all new events and invitations?
5. Do you have "Turn on time zone support" checked in iCal>Preferences>Advanced?
6. Do you have the proper "Time Zone" selected in System Preferences...>Date & Time?
7. Are you syncing any of your computers?
PS: Is there a way to directly (Online) way to tell (email, post, etc) this problem to Apple?
Only through AppleCare, but your equipment is probably no longer covered. As far as I know you could still use AppleCare but it would cost an arm and a leg for phone support since you no longer have a contract. Do you have an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Provider nearby?
PPPS?: This is my second post on this iCal issue this year, last time on May 30, 2008, but no one seems to care...
Since Apple Discussions participation relies entirely upon other users for possible solutions, it is my guess that no one had the same problem or could offer a reasonable solution. Sorry to hear that you did not get a response to your previous post, but I care.

Edit Google Cal event in iCal without changing the original?

I'd like to be able to edit an event or delete it on my iCal without touching the original copy. Is this possible?

If the event is in a Google calendar then changes you make go automatically to the Google server as they "belong" to the server, not to your computer.
You can copy that event into a local calendar and then edit it and it will have no effect on the original Google calendar.
_Go to File > New Calendar > On my Mac.
_Click on the event in question to highlight
_Go to Edit > Copy
_Click on the new calendar you created and then go to File > Paste.
You could also copy the entire Google calendar into a local calendar.
_Click on the Google calendar on the left side of iCal and go to File > Export > Export and save to the Desktop.
_Locate the file on the desktop and double-click on it.
_Add to a new calendar.
__You will now have a local copy of the entire Google calendar (as of this point in time) on your mac which you can edit independent of the Google calendar online.

Why is Ical not converting the time zones on email invites? This is a big problem where my work is global.

Why is my Ical not converting the time zones on email invites? this has happend twice this week where someone has sent me an evite and it post improperly on the calendar.

My original post stated that I was having performance problems and the whole point of the post was to find out if there is a way of exporting the information out of Thunderbird and importing into a new profile. Nothing has changed. I was not looking for the standard methods of managing profiles, which are well documented on the web.
Thunderbird appears to make use of a number of sqlite databases. My post was to see if there is anyone on the forum with sufficient knowledge about the database structure/usage to show me how to get the information out and import it to new databases. It is my view that some database corruption has taken place that is causing my performance problems. So, I wanted to get the data out of the databases, edit it as necessary, and get it back into new databases. I was hoping that the Thunderbird developers, or a third party, had a tool to help me with that.
I suspect that the corruption has occurred due to hard disk errors or an unexpected shutdown at some point. I could be completely wrong, but as I have said, I have ruled out the obvious things. Having created a new "blank" profile I know that the performance problems are related to my existing profile. The new profile/Thunderbird performed without issues.
If you have the expertise to show me how to do that then I would welcome your help. If you can show me that I am wrong in my assumptions then I would be interested to hear your views.
So, nothing at all has changed. I previously logged a bug report on RSS feeds and I only raised the RSS issue as an example of why I think the obvious things are not applicable. Many users may have issues relating to anti-virus/firewall type problems but as I said in my original post, I am quite technical. The point of saying that was to make it clear that I am not a novice user. I also did quite a lot of searching via Google to see if I could find a solution before posting on this forum.
So, nothing at all has changed from my original post.
