Editing a signed document

Hi
Previously when using a form we were able to make changes to a form after the document was signed. In this way we could save a document and open it and make a slight change ( add a new name) and then save that document without having to fill it out from scratch. Is there a way to ensure that when 'done signing' is selected and the document is saved we can then open that document and make changes to fields? The document is just used for workflow purposes.
EDIT: When 'done signing' is selected a dialogue box states that- 'Any signatures or addded text will now be permanently merged into the PDF to finalise the changes and file will be saved'.
We are using Acrobat Version 10.1.3 and I believe some machines may have Acrobat 10.1.2.
Thanks,
Brent

Is it a stamp of your signature or a digital signature? If it's a stamp, you can simply flatten the document (annotations) and don't restrict commenting. You can flatten annotations several ways with Acrobat, but the following free JavaScript-based tool makes it easy: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Asked to send edited and signed document but won't save

I'm having a problem with a document I've been asked to fill out, I've filled out the document, I've signed the document, and then clicked on 'Done Signing' The prompt to save comes up, but when I go back into the system, I find the file is not there. It prompts to save the document with -signed on the end of the original document. I've tried saving onto the original but no luck. I originally sent the document and was told it came out blank.
    I'm using version 10.1.5.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I am experiencing a similar issue with Adobe reader 11.
I have a number of users who will be authorizing and signing invoices with a digital signature (not Echosign).
The intention is then to save the file in the same location on the Network, replacing the original.
However, since using version 11, it appears that as soon as you add a signature to an invoice, you are prompted to save the file as: {filename}-signed
Having the '-signed' added to the file, then means we will be left with 2 copies of the invoice on the network drive. And as the other part of the process involves openign the invoices by using a hyperlink, we will have big problems with duplicated files etc...
I know that the user should be able to delete the '-signed' extension, but errors may occur, where they don't always delete accurately.
So, is there a way to switch this facility off?
    thanks

  • Need an app to edit and sign word documents (sign with stylus)! Notability let's me sign but doesn't pull up letter head, quickofficepro let's me edit but not sign. Looking for an app that does both

I am looking for an app where I can edit word documents as well as sign them.  I am a physical therapist whose looking to cut down on paper work.  Someone types my evaluations and then we print them out for me to edit by hand and then they go back and make the corrections on the computer then w print them and sign them to send off.  Recently I have begun using apps where I can pull up the document and edit it thru quickofficepro or through cloudon, but I cannot sign them using a stylus pen.  I also have notability which I can use to sign the documents, but it doesn't save the document as a doc, it's either a PDF or rtf. Also, in notability, it doesn't pull up the letter head for our company which is a template with our logo on it.  So I need an app where I can both edit and sign my documents by hand using a stylus.  If someone could provide me with any relevant information I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you for your time.

  • Digital Signatures and editing signed documents

Situation - A medical office wants to digitally sign a document after it has been edited (to make it a legal order) but have the form remain unlocked so it can be edited again.  They want to be able to accomplish this on a single instance of the form without using the server solution just a form designed in LiveCycle with Javascript powering the transactions.  Is this possible?

You can edit a signed PDF document (assuming you are not using the field collection feature).  This will not "Invalidate" the signature, but it will change the status of the signature.
I have attached two screen shots to illustrate...  To generate these, I signed a PDF, changed some data and re-validated the signature.
ValidationStatus.gif shows the status of the actual signature.
DocStatus.gif shows a "roll-up" status (meaning it checks all signatures on a doc and displays an overview) of the signed document.

  • 'error while signing document'

i got this error ('error while signing document') on my 1st attempt to use the service. simple 4 page PDF, no doc. security, same error both b4 & after i edited my user profile (i filled in the missing details & changed the default signature image).

    Hi,
I am also getting this error while attempting  to sign a document. I have checked the first and name fields in my  default signature profile for any non-English characters but I am still  getting this error. I have also tested with a different signature  profile with same results. Please advise if there are
other fields I need to check.

  • Password protecting digitally signed documents in Adobe Acrobat X Pro

I am looking for the combination of steps to get my digitally signed documents to be password protected for secure distribution. My documents contain new "user password" information and a number of "areas" which require digital signatures to be added.
Any input as to how one would construct a document with :
one to three --> digitally signed signatures fields in one document
Password "opening" protection for the document containing the fields; both signatures and sensitive data fields
suggestions on how to make the document open to accepting more signatures without it demanding the creation of a newly saved document after being digitally signed by one signature
I have worked at this a couple of different ways but am having problems finding the right combination/sequence of steps to make it all come together.
    Please assist.....
    Thanks....

    ......meaning.......
I can't do locking of the printing or editing of the sheet after i have encrypted and signed it.  Trying to do so, wipes out out signatures. Yes, it is a great fullproof to have people be unable to change something someone has signed but if there is an ammendment, can't the creator reserve that right and in an automated sense notify the signers of the rights of the author ?
Maybe I am looking for too much but, it would be great to know if that is the reality of the whole event.
    Thanks,
    Robert

It can be accessed through Preview in Yosemite also. You can go to Tools -> Annotate -> Signature -> Manage Signature, to create new signature or edit the existing one.

  • Why is the validity of my digitally signed document displayed as unknown?

Why is the validity of my digitally signed document displayed as unknown?
    Adobe X version 10 1.4
What exactly do I have to do under Preferences-Windows Integration?

    Hi amyemia,
The signer's identity is unknown because it has not been included in the list of trusted identities and none or its parent certificates are trusted identities" indicates your recipients needs to add something to their copy of Acrobat/Reader. What the recipient of the document is missing is a certificate and only you can provide him with a copy of the certificate you created to sign the PDF. After you send him or make available a copy of the certificate, then he will need to import that certificate into his copy of Acrobat
    Please refer : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/validity-digital-signature-displayed-unknown.html
If you want your PDF signature to be valid on your / co-worker's computer, you need to supply them with your Public certificate. To do this you need to export it out as an .fdf file, if in Acrobat X, choose Edit – Protection – Security Settings, select your ID that you used to sign the PDF with and choose Export, you can then either save it to disk, or directly email your certificate, get your co-worker to double click it in Adobe Reader and follow the prompt, when you see Set Contact Trust, select it and check Use Certificate as Trusted Root. Then click OK. Now open the PDF and it should now be valid.

  • Preserving links with a signed document

    Hello,
I'm currently using adobe reader xi, and recently I've needed to create a signed document. The document itself has a table of content, and each heading in the table of contents is linked to the pertinent section within the document. When I save the signed copy of my document, the links become inactivated. How can I preserve these links when I am saving a signed document?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
I would be really Really REALLY be surprised if KM would touch the content of Word documents. Chances are that it's Word that is malfunctioning. Try to replace one of the components (such as use IIS or Apache as store, or use OpenOffice instead of MS Office to edit).
    Best regards, Julian

  • Flattening and editing a signed doc with XPro

    Hello Acrobat Experts
I am a Carpentry Tutor in a Welsh College.
I have produced an Acrobat document with working links in the index to specific assessment criteria in the document, This has worked very well until I had an external Quality person to digitally sign where he had checked the Learners work.  He did this with my help, however I do not know his password.
The problem is I can not  flatten the Quality persons signature into the document or more importantly edit the previously working links.
I had regularly used a flatten page script with great success on this document after reviewing the learners work, and still have success using it with other unsigned versions of the document. However Java script now tells me security settings do not allow this????? All worked perfectly before. Please help Thank you, Roger.

I need the signature as it authenticates the learners work. The problem is keeping it on a different layer disables my ability to edit the other previously working links.
I know I have the option of using third party software to disable the security settings that are stopping me from editing the signed version. I could then then flatten using Acrobat. I just wanted to do it without using third party software.
Can anyone tell me if this is possible?????????

  • Scrollbars disappear for text boxes when I click 'Sign' and 'Send Signed Document'!!

I recieve a number of forms from another company with which I need to fill in and return back. These boxes allow me to type into the fields, and if I type too much, a scroll bar will show so I can change it at any time I like.
The issue i'm having is because Adobe thought it'd be clever to only show the scroll bar when you click a field, when you click 'Send Signed Document', it won't allow me to edit the document again. This means any information I have typed beyond the box limit is unviewable - that's no good to the company I need to send it back to.
How do I get a scrollbar to show for this?
My only other option is to just click 'Save as' and send it, but then my document is at risk of being edited by someone else.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

In the past they have, however by ticking the box to agree to the terms and conditions and adding a signature renders the form unreadable if i've typed more than the box will visibly show. In truth it's poorly done, should have made the box expandable, but I still don't see why I need to be clicking the box to get a scroll bar. If the information I type is effectively stamped down so I can't click on it again, why not give me a scroll bar so I can at least read back what i've written and/or amend things if necessary?
It's bizarre, and i'm at a loss what to do.

As far as I know, multiple users can not edit Word file in the same time directly. Could you give me your demand?

After Creating a new document or editing an old document in Pages on my iPad I no longer see the changes in Pages on my iPhone. iCloud services are on with both devices.

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

    Hi siddiaqli,
When the user edit the excel file, whether other users also edit it.
Please try to enable Check-out/Check-in in the library, then test again, compare the result.
You can enable Check Out/In as Library settings->Versioning settings->Require Check out.
In addition, please create a new excel file in the library, and test again, compare the result.
