EEM Cron-Entry stops working

i don't know if this is the right place for my Problem, but maybe someone have seen something similar.
I gave it to cisco support, but until now, they have no idea what the Problem could be.
I'm using EEM to enable/disable some Interfaces time based. Sometimes the Cron Entrys stops working.
Its running on a C3750X-12S-S with IOS  12.2(58)SE2
I have a Test Job, that produces a syslog Message Every 2 Minutes:
event manager applet Test-cron
event timer cron cron-entry "*/2 * * * *"
action 1 syslog msg "Test Cron"
action 2 cli command "enable"
"The Enable Command is only to check the CLI Commands"
The first Time, this occured, i solved it with a reload. That is a very Bad solution, since every uplink is going down.
Today i tried some things and changed my Test Entry to absolute. And the Job was working. After changing it back to cron, its working again also.
But what could be the reason for the Failure? And how could i track down the issue?
"debug event manager all" seems not to be a good solution.
The Logs will grow too much.
Maybe something missing in my configured Jobs? Perhaps the maxrun statement or something else?
Thanks for your Help.

I am familiar with your issue, but we have thus far been unable to recreate it.  What you have said here is new information, though.  Have you relayed this to your TAC engineer?  Perhaps the problem is with the number of times the policy executes, and the timer becomes corrupted somehow.  If we can isolate the trigger, we can get developers looking into the problem.

  • Cron stops working, why?

What would cause cron to stop working? ps still shows the process is running but it usually stops working after a week. running /usr/sbin/cron from a shell as a user seems to kick start cron again despite the fact I dont have privileges to run cron.

cron has been depreciated by Apple.
While cron may be depreciated, it is still working on my 10.6.4 MacBook (as well as my 10.6.2 iMac).
I do not know why it is not working reliably for you.
And yes, using a launchd task is another why to implement periodic tasks.

  • Itunes has stopped working and iphone calendar has 10 entries for each event

"itunes has stopped working", since I tried an update which failed.
Also when I plugged in my iphone it went straight to restore and not only lost all my recent stuff as you might expect - annoying enough, but has installed at least 10   entries for each event. How do I get rid of them? Tried deleting the event but it doesn't take away every single entry. (And can I get my recent stuff back?)
These are probably diffferent problems but as my name implies I'm a complete numpty when it comes to the technical terms so please, in lay terms, what should I do?

Well I seem to have solved this myself...Much to my surprise!
First the itunes issue. When the itunes update screen came up again it said if you have trouble with this go to Tools (top of itunes panel) and press "download only" which I did and the rest just sort of happened. It uninstalled and then installed.. All I had to do was open each file. Checked my stuff and all there. Checked itunes store and straight in.
Iphone calendar. Not sure how this happened but it had about 25 - 30 copies of each event. I went through each calendar and by process of elimination deleted the ones that seemed to be causing the problem. I didn't lose any events but all of a sudden there was only one each of them. Bizzaire but true.
This is a very rare day for me. A Good IT Day.

  • My inernal speakers have stopped working. I now have a little 'no entry' sign.

My internal speakers have stopped working - when I click on 'sound' I get a little 'no entry' sign; I've done all the Preferences things, and looked at Help, but no result!

Though I have doubts for success, you might try a SMC reset.  It can do no harm.  Otherwise, barring suggestions from others, the Apple Store or qualified repair facility is the last option.

  • Thunderbolt camera stopped working with Skype and Google Hangouts

Some time ago my built in camera on the thunderbolt stopped working with Skype.  If I activate the camera the green light turns on but the screen either remains black or it shows that spinning loading incon forever.  The green light stays on indicating the camera is active no matter what I do with skype even if I press the button to deactivate the camera.  The green light remains on until you completely kill skype.  Rebooting, reinstalling skype, etc. does nothing.
Today I disocvered I have the same thing with Google hangouts.  All the way around exactly the same and the green light won't turn off until you kill the web browser.  Same thing with FireFox or Safari.  Also it no longer works on Viber either.
    It's quite infuriating.
I am not sure if this has anything to do with this awful virus like program called "CamTwist" that I installed once and had a very difficult time removing or not.
Reinstalling OS X from scratch is not an option.  Too much work, too many programs to reinstall and reconfigure etc.
How can I get my camera back?
The camera works just fine with Photobooth and facetime.
    Thanks.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/libexec;clear;cd;p=(1250 ' 0.5 0.25 10 1000 15 5120 1000 25000 1 1 0 100 ' 51 25600 4 10 25 5120 102400 1000 25 1000 225 40 500 300 85 25 20480 262144 20     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I may not agree with them.

  • Firefox is not showing up at all, I will click on the application and it start to work but then after 2 seconds, its stops working.

I will try to start firefox and then it stops working. It will work for about 2 seconds and then it goes to a blank screen. The screen is transparent and i can see my desk top threw firefox. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and firefox still will not work on my computer. I have run scans on my computer as well to see if it was a virus that was preventing it from running. If anyone could help me I would be very greatful.

hello see-saw-sally, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/940393#answer-377118 from another user] we found out that this might be related to malware active on your pc. please close all firefox windows and try [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|running firefox in safemode]] (by pressing the shift key while you're starting it). in firefox safemode go to firefox > addons > extensions and remove the entry named "Codec v1.0" or any other addons that look suspicious & you have not installed intentionally. afterwards see if you can run firefox normally again...
please also do an in-depth scan of your system with the security software already in place and/or a different tool like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & keep firefox and your plugins up-to-date in order to stay safe on the web.

  • Mail.app stopped working over IMAP to exchange 2003 server

    Hi Peoples,
I'm posting this as a problem with the solution simply because of the absolute bizarre behavior that I observed....
    PROBLEM
On Thursday night, without me having made any changes to either my mac or my exchange server, mail.app just stopped working. The problem was like many I've read about on various forums including this one but none of the solutions worked. Basically the problem was that the server would no longer authenticate mail.app's connection attempts. It failed both plain text and SSL with both NTLM and password style authentication. IMAP from a PC was still working OK (I keep this around for testing). So I tried the following...
Removed all the relevant keychain entries - no go
Removed the entire login keychain - no go
Removed & reconfigured the exchange account config from mail.app - no go
Removed the entire config from mail.app (i.e. removed ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist ) - bop-bong still no go
created a new IMAP service in exchange in case something was screwed there - no go
created a new user in exchange and tried that user - still no go
sledge hammer approach - reinstalled OS X - no go
48+ hours later... Getting very frustrated by now... scratching head...
    SOLUTION
OK (should have done this much earlier and saved much pain), time to install another IMAP client on the mac and see what happens.... installed Thunderbird and low and behold it worked first go with and without SSL - hmmm
Restarted mail.app and reconfigured to use same settings as thunderbird (SSL with password authentication - no NTLM)
What the????? Now it all works again....
I cannot for the life of me figure out why this happened, and why only mail.app was affected. Obviously, something went screwy on the Exchange server and caused mail.app to have a coronary. Whatever it was, other IMAP clients seemed to be able to handle it. Was it the install and subsequent use of thunderbird that fixed it - I hope not but who knows...
Think I'll be keep thunderbird installed in case it happens again... very, very, very strange.
Anyways... hope this helps if anyone else experiences such unexplainable weirdness.
Cheers - I'm going to have Chardy on the balcony and think about something else.

Just thought I'd update with the latest... This problem happened again this morning and again, the only way to fix it was to connect from the mac with another IMAP client (I used Thunderbird again) and immediately the problem was fixed.
Need to do some detailed network analysis here to see exactly what's going on but it's definitely a case of mail.app not playing nicely with Exchange (or vice versa).
    Cheers, time for a JD

  • Sound stopped working

    Hi.
    It used to work.
I have problem with sound. Yesterday It does work, but today it stopped working. I'm not sure if it is because of some updates, I haven't noticed anything connected to sound. The only difference is that I uninstalled mplayer2. Then it stopped working - but I'm not sure if it was because of this.
    I tried:
    reinstall alsa, alsa-plugins, alsa-utils, vlc, mplayer2
    install pulseaudio, oss (without configuration)
    reboot
    unmute all chanels in alsamixer
    connecting headphones

Same for me after system upgrade on 2013-05-01:
    pacmatic -Syu
Since then, no Audio output via HDMI anymore. Mainboard is Intel DH67BL.
Before upgrade, it worked. Audio via normal audio connector also still works.
    $ aplay -D plughw:0,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Wiedergabe: WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate: 48000 Hz, mono
But on the connected (via HDMI) TV is nothing to hear. Video on TV via HDMI works. Checked also alsamixer volume setting.
With this, I hear the sound on the speakers connected with the Mainboard:
    $ aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
Wiedergabe: WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate: 48000 Hz, mono
    $ aplay -l

I've read this, but did not help:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ta … chitecture
Here the list of upgraded packages:
    grep 2013-05-01.*pgraded /var/log/pacman.log
    http://pastebin.com/vXjp3Bw4
I also downgraded to the kernel version before upgrade:
    pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/linux-3.7.4-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
But that did not solve the problem. Also using linux-lts kernel did not help.
I have posted this also on the german Arch Linux board:

  • ITunes stopped working. Error 7 (Windows 127)

    Suddenly iTunes stopped working.
At first my HP Pavillion showed the message "Error 7 (Windows 127)". I googled it, and found  a couple of suggestions. I tried to uninstall iTunes and related program files in the right order, but it didn't work.
Now I get this message, and it doesn't help to uninstall iTunes. I allready tried it several times.
After googling the message above, I tried to open the iTunes setup file with winRAR, but that didn't work either.
    Now I get this message:
Something about the procedure point of entry ADAdPolicy... is not found in the DLL-library.
When I click 'OK' I get the same message, as I did to begin with "Error 7 (Windows 127)".
    What am I doing wrong?
I've spend more than 10 hours total, solving this problem, so if anyone can help me, there'll be best wishes and happy thoughts send your way

    Hi @TroelsDanmark ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Pavilion Notebook and not being able to use ITunes. Can get to safe mode with command prompt?  sfc /scannow would scan your system for errors at the command prompt.
Are you downloading ITunes 12.0.1 for Windows ? Current download available here.
Do you have 400MB of available disk space to accommodate the download?
First, try to click the Windows icon, type services in the Search box, and then click or tap View Local Services. Scroll down to the Windows Installer. Startup type should be - Automatic, and Service Status should be - started
Restart the computer after this step and try installing again.
You could try this Microsoft fix.
Please let me know how this goes.
    Thanks.

  • Headphone output stopped working (snd-hda, Dell XPS 13)

Update: I got it working! See my second post; I will leave this here as a reference for those with the same problem.
My headphone output stopped working, and my integrated microphone also stopped working. The speakers work fine, though.
AFAIK, I didn't do anything, and am quite baffled as to why this is. It's worked fine for half a year.
I have a Dell XPS 13; it came installed with Ubuntu, I booted that, where it *does* work (just to eliminate hardware problems).
    I'm running 3.16.4-1; I also downgraded to 3.16.3, which didn't help.
I'm testing with speaker-test and mplayer -ao alsa; I normally use PulseAudio, but eliminating that for testing seemed like a sane thing to do. It doesn't work either way.
I also downloaded the hda_analyzer, that has a lot of options, but I'm not sure what most of them mean...
The closest I've been able to get at the problem is this:
    [~]% alsactl monitor
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
    card 0, #17 (0,0,0,Headphone Mic Jack,0) VALUE
This is an insert & remove of my headphone jack; ALSA does detect something it seems. It's listed as "Headphone Mic Jack", is this right?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated!
    More info:
    [~]% cat /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
    options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1
    options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi
This is required to get this to work in the first place, and always has worked; I tried some other options, to no avail. the enable=0,1 is to disable the HDMI output (disabling this has no effect either).
    $ cat /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/model
    dell-headset-multi,dell-headset-multi,(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null), +(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null),(null)
To verify these options are actually being used
    $ id -Gn
martin wheel video audio vboxusers nfs
I'm in the audio group, not sure if this is required, but can't hurt.
    [~]# cat /etc/asound.conf
    # Use PulseAudio by default
    pcm.!default {
    type pulse
    fallback "sysdefault"
    hint {
    show on
description "Default ALSA Output (currently PulseAudio Sound Server)"
    ctl.!default {
    type pulse
    fallback "sysdefault"
    # vim:set ft=alsaconf:
Nothing special ... pulseaudio is more or less mandatory these days. ~/.asoundrc doesn't exist.

Update: I mucked about more after making this post; I installed gnome-alsa-mixer and checked the "internal mic" option and "Auto-Mute mode" (both were off), after this my headphone output works again, and does the built-in microphone (!)
I have no idea how I ended up in this "broken" situation, or even what this option does, or how to use it without gnome-alsa-mixer (I had to install 15 packages to get this, as I normally don't use gnome)... Sound on Linux still seems no better than when I started using it 15 years ago :-( (I spent about 5 hours on this...)

  • My Samba server stopped working and I have no idea why.

I set up a samba server once I got arch installed and it was working like a boss for about a month. Then one day (i think the machine may have rebooted) it just stopped working. I can't access my samba share from any of my other machines (all running Windows 7). I hadn't changed anything so I don't know what the culprit is. I did some update and looked at the smb.conf file but everything seems to be in order. I also tried to connect with smbclient from the machine itself and I get an NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED error.
    What's going on?
    Here is my smb.conf
    # This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
    # smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
    # here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options (perhaps too
    # many!) most of which are not shown in this example
    # For a step to step guide on installing, configuring and using samba,
    # read the Samba-HOWTO-Collection. This may be obtained from:
    # Many working examples of smb.conf files can be found in the
    # Samba-Guide which is generated daily and can be downloaded from:
    # Any line which starts with a ; (semi-colon) or a # (hash)
    # is a comment and is ignored. In this example we will use a #

    Hi,
My thought is to check the current IP of the server, as your smb.conf has the line interfaces = 192.168.1.109 which means samba will only listen on that interface for requests. If the IP of the server has changed, that would explain why samba isn't working.

  • MS Office 2013 Stopped working after 3/12/14 Patch

The entire suite of Office stopped working after the latest patch.  I did 1/2 last week and it got interrupted - this is when the problem started; and did the other 1/2 on the 18th without any change. Includes: Access, Excel, Info Path, Lync, OneNote,
Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.  SkyDrive still seems to be working.  I now have two entries in the Start menu:
    Excel 2013  3/18/2014
    Excel  1/24/2013
Neither works.  When I click the icon from the taskbar, it highlights for several seconds the goes away.  No processes are started (monitor with Process Explorer). Stuff I've tried that hasn't worked:
Restoring Office programs to previous version.
Backing out patches (although some refuse to be backed out). I installed some of the optional ones associated with Office, but those did get backed out.
    Starting programs in safe mode.
    Turn off anti-virus and firewall.
The interwebs are silent on anything similar (except for the suggestions above on previous versions/patches).
What gets me is there is no error or activity whatsoever. What I don't want to do is reinstall, since I do have a fair amount of customization which I hate to redo, and I really like to fix things or understand why they are broken so they don't happen again.
In the case of customization, safe mode would have been great, but now I face reinstall without real root cause.
Any help or suggestions or knowledge on this?

Thanks Wojciech, but don't have KB890830 installed.
Just after posting, I found a very promising article: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2013_release-word/office-2013-wont-start/0269c763-7a03-4a6f-81cb-6522ef7d3ea3
However, I thought reinstalling the updates was probably best so that I could work through from that standpoint. So after a shutdown and startup today, I find all of Office removed for me. Sweet - problem solved!!???  *sigh* Not only that, but any configuration
files or customizations are completely gone as well, so no chance of saving them off first.

  • Itunes Has Stopped Working, Program closes

I have recently just updated my Itunes and it has stopped working. This happened in a previous updated version, but after a reinstall i was able to get it to work. This time it did not work, and I can't seem to find a way to get the program to work now.
    The error looks like this...
I open itunes from shortcut on desktop or exe file from program file
I see itunes is opened up, i can see my playlists/songs everything
Before i get a chance to do anything windows pops up with a window and says
"Itunes has stopped working...windows is checking for a solution to the problem...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I can only click on the "close program" button.
I have tried a reinstall twice now, and am lost for ideas on how to fix this. I'm not amazing at troubleshooting problems, so I've posted the error that shows up in my event log. Any help would be appreciated so i can continue to use the itunes store, and update my iphone.

Okay, taken at face value this is suggesting there's a problem with your QuickTime (which makes sense in context, because iTunes requires a properly functioning QuickTime in order to run).
So, let's first try swapping out your existing QuickTime.
Head into your "Uninstall a program" control panel. Uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we'll clear away any leftover QuickTime program files or folders.
    Restart your computer.
After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your programs are installed on.
    Open the Program Files folder.
Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on. Open the Windows folder. Open the System32 folder.
Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Restart the PC and download and save a copy of the QuickTime standalone installer to your hard drive (get the one that doesn't mention iTunes):
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Install QuickTime by doubleclicking the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file.
Restart again, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch without the error this time?

  • Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!  SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.

The issue:  Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!
SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.
The cause:  It is now clear what caused this problem.  For years I had several “all-day” events in my Outlook calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).  In May 2012 I decided to make some of them one hour  events so I could add alerts to remind me of the event.  I did this by dragging them in Outlook to the time I wanted and expanding them to the time slot desired and then adding the alarm.
The symptom:  Syncing stopped working for the calendar but continued working for contacts and notes.  I didn’t realize sync was failing until months later when I missed two very important phone calls, so when I noticed it the cause was not obvious.
The failed attempts:  I’m head of a software firm and my calendar sync is a crucial to my business life so I took this on with a vengeance.  From a quick look at events in Outlook and the iPhone I could see that the problem started in May 2012.  Events before May were in both Outlook and the iPhone but events after May were only one or the other.  Unfortunately I had changed several other things at the same time relating to other events so again the cause was not obvious.  MANY calls with AppleCare proved them incompetent so my internal IT guys assisted trying many things.  We tried a huge number of calendar changes and several versions of iTunes, iPhone OS and Office as well as both iPhone 4 and 5, all without success.
The fix:  After 18 months of frustration, MANY  hundreds of $ expense and MANY hours of wasted time I saw a blog that had a calendar sync  problem and it indicated all day events were related.  I changed the display of the Outlook calendar to the list view, added columns so I could see “all day” event check marks as well as times of events,  sorted on the “all day” event column to move them to the top, and for all events that were “all day” events AND had a start and end time, I removed recurrence and then added the annual recurrence back…
After I fixed all events that had BOTH “all day” set and had a start/end time, I tried another sync.  It synced for the first time in 18 months!
Problem occurred May 2012 – fixed Nov 2013

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 for Centro stopped working on Vista

I was having trouble and simply reinstalled, but to no avail.  It installs then, when I go to hotsync it gets stuck everytime at the calendar.  Also, when I try to open the desktop program it states "invalid argument encountered"  then eventually it says the program has stopped working.  Can someone lead me step by step through a solution?
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

    Dana,
Sounds like what was happening to me a few months back, right after I got my Centro.  I had a Palm Tungsten C before and already had Palm Desktop installed.  The new desktop installed over it.  I had a lot of trouble (much, much more so than with the original Tungsten install) with the phone.  I don't know for sure that is what created the synch problem, but after most of a day spent searching this forum I found a thread that appeared to deal with this problem.  It turned out it was some corrupted calendar files on my phone.  The post described how to download a program called "DbFixit".  It seems like there was a free version and then there was a more complete version at a small cost.  Search the forum to find more info on where to get it.  After downloading it to my Centro it ran through and reported on all the corrupted calendar entries.  I think it had an option to delete the corrupted ones automatically but I didn't trust this, so I wrote them all down as the program reported them.  Once that was done everything seemed to work.  I don't remember if after the clean up you are supposed to have the desktop overwrite the phone or vice-versa or just let them synch.  I think the instructions were on the DbFixit website.  Hope this helps.
