EF-s 50mm f/1.8 STM good for a "point and shoot" wife?

As my title implies, my wife is a "point and shoot" photographer. She mainly uses her point and shoot at the school where she teaches taking portrait shots and the occasional action photo of her students (pre-school ages, indoors and out). Would the EF-s 50mm f/1.8 STM be a good "all around" lens for these types of shots? I have a Rebel T6i that I bought because wanted some of the more advanced features (changeable lens and manual control) of a DSLR over a point and shoot and ease of use for my wife. I also wanted the WiFi features as my wife has no idea what an SD card is (she is very technically challenged) and I wanted an easy way for her to transfer her shots to her iPad (which the T6i has accomplished beautifully). On top of the list when comparing a prime 50mm lens to a zoom is, a prime is more limited to what it does well. This means you must weigh the bennys to the downsides.A 50mm on a T6 can be great for candids becuase you don't have to be as close to the kid(s). It can be a problem because you can't be as close to the kid(s). Do you kinda see this trend. The 'depth-fo-field', DOF, has nothing to do with it in this case. No Point & Shoot, P&S, that are worth having are limited to a fixed or prime lens. IE, the Canon G series of P&S. I have a G15 and it ia a great camera. However, this level of P&S does not come cheaply. Sorry but the lens I would reccomend for her and you is not going to come cheaply either. But you already dropped the coin on a mighty fine camera so here is my thought, EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM. It gives you almost the best of both worlds. It is fast. It has a good focal range. It has outstanding IQ. It will make the T6 as close to the best P&S there is. So my long winded answer to your question, "EF-s 50mm f/1.8 STM good for a "point and shoot" wife?"No, it wouldn't.

iOS 6 can be loaded without problem on the 3GS. Not all features are supported however.

If your desktop computer is one that supports Mountain Lion, you can either download it there or make a bootable jump drive with the installer on it -- assuming you haven't yet used the installer you downloaded to your laptop.
As for the iPad, it doesn't use the same OS as the Macs do; it uses iOS versions, so Mountain Lion won't work there.

Yes; phone is for Verizon PREPAID plans. Sri I did not state that correctly. I see that there are prepaid plans with monthly usage etc. I see some offers on line for a $100.00 card that's good for one year. Trying to determine if that is available from a Verizon store to begin a new plan. Checked with two different Verizon stores and got two opposite answers and neither was sure of the terms. i have an early 2011 15" MBP and it runs the Sims 3 just fine. I do not have any of the expansion packs for the game but as long as your MBP meets the minimum requirements you should be just fine

ideally a 15" would be best for same, as referring to the 15" macbook Pro.
For a photographer, which I used to be long ago, either the Air or Pro are close in form factor for travel with only one moving part, and SSD.
The retina display in combination with the 15" would be idea as best choice for photo editing and graphic design.

Why is a monthly full charge cycle good for ipad2? And how do I do it?

Hi. My iPad 2 is nearly a month old and is due for a full cycle charge. Is it full cycle charging in a month good for the iPad? And how do I do it exactly?

I performed this religiously for the first 8 or 9 months that I had my iPad. Now I do it maybe every two months. My battery indicator seems to be as accurate today as it was 15 months ago when I first got my iPad. I still get a minimum of 10 hours a day from a full charge and the indicator appears to be extremely accurate.
After a full 100% charge, run the iPad down until it shuts off on it's own. The iPad will warn you that you are getting low on battery power a couple of times until it shuts off. Plug it in to charge it - but don't expect to see a reaction for at least 10 minutes - it could be sooner - but don't be alarmed if it takes at least several minutes before you see the charging indicator on the screen.

Mac mini good for photoshop, lightroom and large files?

Hello all,
My brother finally wants to switch from windows to mac and asked me for advice. He is a young photography professional so his primary need is to run photoshop, lightroom and be able to use large RAW files and 100+ MB photoshop files.
He still has a 27" high resolution screen, so my first option to look at is the Mac Mini with the 2.7 GHz dual core i7, 8GB of ram and the standard 5400 rpm drive (as SSD is too expensive). Is this machine capable of handling the above mentioned things? I think that the processor and memory are more than enough, but i have my doubts about the videocard, since 256 mb of video memory is not that much in these days..
In the future he wants to buy an iMac or Macbook Pro, but for now that's still a little to expensive. Although, if the mac mini is not that good, he has to decide whether to wait a while and then buy an iMac or something.
I hope that anyone can give us some advice:-)

First off, I think we'll wait what the 11th of june will bring us, hopefully a new mac mini. As Michael Wasley stated, the glossy imac screen isn't going to work for him. So that brings us to a Mac Mini or Macbook Pro. I'm using the macbook pro myself for the last couple of years and i'm a great fan of it's capabilities.. but my brother prefers a fixed 'computer' and not a laptop..
At this point i think he's going to buy (the new?) mac mini (and use his own screen), upgrade the RAM to somewhere between 12-16 GB, possible get a SSD drive and for sure get the biggest i7 processor available.
Hopefully that will get things running.

Of course, I am aware that a laptop can not hope to equal desktop output. But since I am not satisfied with the price-performance ratio of current top end Nvidia cards, I have decided to wait for the release of Maxwell before assembling a new desktop rig.
In the interim, I'm considering getting a cheap laptop (for editing in bed ). This one seems to offer decent specs and good value at £700/ $1075. I would put a 7200rpm Seagate Barracuda in there.
Any opinions, please?

IPhone 4 battery was good for a month and suddenly goes dead within 6 hours

I have been running my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.1) for a month without any problem.
Suddenly, two days ago (although I haven't changed anything) the battery goes dead in less than 6 hours...
When I touch the phone, I notice it's warm. I have checked if any app was abusing of the multitasking (by killing all running app in the multitask bar) or the location services (you can tell by the little compas icon next to the battery icon), but it didn't change anything.
I think the last thing I have done, is to purchase my first Multitask application called Avertino. I have since deinstalled it (since I believed it was the root cause of my issue), but no result.
None of my other apps are abusing of the Push Notifications. I am using Push Emails with my Exchange Server, but this hasn't change in years... So this can't be the issue...
Anyways... Something is running and draining my battery, but I don't know what... Reset and Restore hasn't help, but maybe you could?

Speharpre, I wanted to let you know I've figured out what was causing my battery problems, and it may be affecting you, too. I checked wifi, 3G and background apps, but none of these were causing the issue.
In the end, it's my Exchange accounts Push email that was draining the battery so quickly. With Push turned on, the battery drained between 10 and 12% per hour, but as soon as I switched the Push function off, the battery drain went down to about 1%.
All day I've been turning push on for an hour, then off for an hour, the back on for an hour, etc... and each time I switch it back on, I see exactly the same rapid drop in battery.
Still haven't figured out how to fix the problem. I'm going to try deleting the account from the phone and re-adding it, and will also call our server tech support to see if it could be an issue at their end. Either way, I'll let you know.

You should carefully check the system requirements of those applications.
The answer to your second question is no, but max out the RAM if you can.

I am using the Good for Enterprise app to synch my outlook email and when I try to turn on ICloud to synch my music in ITunes I get a warning that I will not be able to synch my Iphone 4S with my computer. Does this mean my office PC or home Mac?

I am using Good For Enterprise on my Iphone 4s to connect with my Office PC Outlook email system. I am having trouble synching my Itunes music from my Mac at home with my IPhone 4s. I am considering using ICloud to share the music as I also have an IPad2. When I go to turn on the ICloud application, I get a message that alerts me to the fact I will no longer be able to synch with my computer. Does that mean with my Office PC and my Outlook email, or my Mac and my home email and other applications? I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

also make sure the programs you will be using are in osx versions
because if you already have a license for a windows version and

Additional I have a new motherboard (Asus M2NPV-VM)?with two PCI Slots only. Therefore I have no chances to change the slots due to IRQ problems. For example, if I am listening to a source playing at 4400kHz, 6bit, then I want to hear exactly that.
Think of it another way. If a video source image is 800x600 and I have a 920x200 monitor, I do not want to scale the image to fit 920x200. I want the image to appear at the center of the screen with black bars on top, bottom, left & right sides. A : pixel for pixel image. I would also be using DVI-D so there is no Digital to Analog conversion. Make sense now? I am viewing the source as intended.
Now help me with : audio. I do not believe this is possible with Creative's current cards from all the articles and tech info I have read.
