Effect of Activating Cross company costing in Material Ledger

Hi all,
We are live with ML from seven years and now we want to activate cross company costing. I would like to know if there will be an impact of this in the material ledger side. If anyone has comeacross this situation please share your ideas about this.
Thanks,
Santosh

thanq for reply.
IF I can update standard price in 3 views, how can i see three standard prices in different views?
I am facing another problem also here.
we have 3 company codes and 3 plants like VN01,SG01,IN01.
When I am doing standard cost estimation for IN01 with group costing variant for group valuation, I am getting error "Object was not costed", but where as If I use standard costing varaint ( PPC1), I am not getting any error, system is showing correct standard cost estimation?
Where as If I use group costing variant for other company codes, I am not getting any error.
Is there any customizing missed regarding standard cost estimation, when material ledger is activated?

  • Apply Overhead to Cross Company Costing without BOM

    Hi,
We are maintainin BOM's only in one plant and want to be able to cost materials in all the plants using costing run. The problem in doing so is we have  the prices at different plants marked up by a specific percent when compared to the plant which mainatins the BOM's. It is possible to bring in the cost estimate of the material from the plant which has BOM's using the cross company costing and using special procurement keys but it is not possible to add an overhead to this cost estimate since the overhead is not added to this cost estimate. Please suggest an alternative approach if it is possible to add an overhead to a cost estimate from an another plant. Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

If I am understanding you,  a manufactured material cost 10.00 in the mfg plant; you want to uplift it by 30% so in second plant it has a cost of 13.00
To do this, we turned off Cross plant costing and used Profit center transfer pricing. By creating overhead groups for shipping plant and pricing them in conditions (trans VK19) based on "from" plant "to" plant.
One draw back - the entire cost in the receiving plant is a "material" component Labor and overhead are not broken out.
The other issue, for you, is that a consultant and the SD Pricing guru did the configutation, created new key combination to include overhead group, so I can not explain in detail how it was done.  I do not think that any user exist is involved.
    Perhaps this give you hope.

  • Parallel currency in company code require material ledger activation

    Hello,
I have a requirement where the company is using parallel currency in NEWGL concept with two different currencies INR and USD.
I want to have a clarification whether I Need to activate Material ledger with parallel currency.
    1. Company is using parallel currency with only one legal valuation view.
    2. There is no requirement for product costing in the company.
Can the balance in general ledger can be seen in both currency for inventory balances.
    Awaiting for your inputs
    Thanks

If you don't need parallel currency at present, there's no need to configure it. Why should that be a problem, as long as your Business needs are not relevant to using a parallel currency?
I suspect your actual query is details regarding the future problems that you might face when, faced by changed Business scenarios, you are forced to introduce parallel currency at a future date
If my suspicion is correct, I suggest you look at SAP Note 39919. It's an old note - but one that I've found contains quite relevant tips and tricks about introducing parallel currency in a productive environment.
Remember to assign points if found useful.

  • ESS: Travel Management Cross Company Cost Assignment

    Hi All,
We have one scenario in (ESS) Travel Management.
While raising travel request, employee is having the option of selecting Cost Assignment
where in employee selects WBS Element and Cost Center.
Here in we have two company codes
    1. 1000
    2. 999
Now employee belonging to company code 1000 should have option to select WBS of company code 999.
    Currently system is throwing error
The CO account assignment object belongs to company code 999, not 1000
Now if we change this error message to warning message it will impact on all other
    applications running in R/3.
This requirement is only limited to Travel Management.
This application uses following webdynpro application,
    FITV_VC_COST_ASSIGNMENT
Please provide the appropriate solution either technical or functional.

System will follow the strict rules while posting transactions to cost objects by the employees.
The user is authorized to post only in 1000 but not in 999. so he can't post to 999.
People with authorization to post to 999 can do it.
But the main thing is, Cost centers are belongs to only one company code so U can't post this transaction to 999.
The transaction which u r trying is seems to be cross company code transaction.  Cost objects should relate to the company code where U r posting transaction otherwise u cont post it.
    IF possible provide more details.....

  • Cross Company STO, Invoice material Price

    Dear all:
could you plese share your knowledge hwo to let cross compoany sto, the supply plant slae price direclty copy control from recive plany info records, no need maintian price on supply plant, hwo to do,
       thank you in advance.

    Hi
Follow the below steps to to make STO between two plants belongs to same company codes). It is also called as Intera- Company STO.....
1)Create one Customer for Supplying Plant Sales area and assign this Customer no with Receiving Plant in OLME---> PO -
    > Set up STO -
    > define Shipping Data for plants. and maintain the same sales area in your Supplying plant.
    2) In OLME---> PO -
    > Set up STO.....for your Document Type: UB and Suppying plant Combination assign Del. Type NL and Checking rule RP
    3) In OLME---> PO -
    > Set up STO...for your Supplying Plant and Receiving Plant combination Maintain Doc. Type : UB
Make sure you are maintaining Sales View for your Material at Supplying Plant.
    4) Maintain Shipping point at, SPRO----> Logistics Execution -
    > Shipping -
    > Basic Shipping Functions -
    > Shipping Point Determination for Plants.....there for your Loading group, Shipping Condition, Shipping Plant combination maintain Shipping plant..
Now Create STO in ME21N with Doc.type: UB at Receiving Plant.
Then Create Delivery in VL10B from Supplying Plant...
Then Do PGI in VL02N from supplying Plant.
Then do GR at Receiving Plant based on Outbound Delivery at Receiving Plant...
Follow the below link for STO b/w company code:
    http://www.sap-img.com/sap-sd/configure-intercompany-stock-transport-order.htm
Please find three scenarios as below for stock tranfer depending on valuation area.
    1) If two plants belonging to same company code & valuation area is at compony code level then during stck tranfer between two plants only material document will be created & no accounting document will be created.
2)In case of Stock transfer between to plant belonging to same company & if two plant are assigned to different valuation areas then cross plant stock transfer will generate one accounting document parallel to material document.
    3) In case of cross company code stock transfer TWO accounting documents are created at the time of posting one for each company code
This is exact difference in Stock transfer at different levels.

  • Issue with Standard Cost estimates / Material Ledger

    Background:
We have been using SAP for the last 5 years with Material Ledger active. Due to a number of reasons, we have not revised its standard cost estimates from 2001 till now. This means that at month end, we do not mark and release prices as recommended, nor do we mark prices and use dynamic release.
    What Happened:
A new material called PFSW3 was made. This is a FERT. Before production
could start my team released the standard cost estimate for this material. Production was now able to proceed without problem. Then, when the time came to sell the material (VF02), SAP again raised the error 'cost estimate not found'. On checking the standard price in MM03, we discovered that the future cost estimate was missing. So we created and marked a new cost estimate in the middle of February 2007.
    Problem:
When the first sale took place, SAP released the marked cost estimate and posted a Price Change document to adjust for the new standard cost. I understand this was due to dynamic release. Now, when month end came, the system settled all the production orders of material PFSW3 but did not do multi level costing on it.
    Internal Investigation:
My team has determined that the material PFSW3 has price determination 2 set by mistake. All our other production materials (HALB and FERT) are
set to price determination 3 in the material master (accounting view).
    Questions:
    To sum this situation up,
we need to know why the material PFSW3 was not marked closed in its period status (CKM3) at the time of closing through CKMLCP?
What are the implications of not closing this material in Feb 2007 (current period status is showing 'Quantities and values entered')?
How can we close this material this month?
The future cost estimate is again missing for PFSW3 in March 2007 and I
fear we are going to face more problems as this material is sold to customers.
Please respond this is an urgent issue.

    Dear Shumyl,
Please, have a look at Note 645083 - Material period status set to "Closing Entry Completed" that might help to closing your material in previous period.
    Hope it will be useful.
    Regards,
    Flaviano.

  • Group and legal costs without Material Ledger

I was wondering is there a way we could have both the group cost and the legal cost in the system without having to configure material ledger. Currently we have Group cost in the system and no legal cost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi NIK83,
There is no other way to have multiple valuations w/o having ML in SAP
ML is the only solution... If you want to upload the legal values, you can use the tax price or commercial price fields and take out a report comparing the 2 values using T code MRN9
but, you will have to uplaod these values.. these cant be calculated w/o ML

  • VPRS Cost in Material Ledger

    hi all,
    i have some problem here.
we use 2 local currency. first local currency is IDR, and second local currency is USD.
our client use material ledger, so in material master accounting 1, we maintain 2 value of inventory (in IDR and USD)
let say we create material XXX (using standard price)  in 01 jan 2011 , with IDR value 1,000,000. the system will convert to USD with exchange rate in 01 jan 2011 (which is 10,000). so the USD value will be 1,000,000/10,000  = 100 USD.
then in 10 january 2011, Sales order is created for material XXX with document currency USD .
cond type VPRS get 1,000,000 IDR and covert to doc Curr (USD) with exchange rate in 10 jan 2011 (which is 9,000).
so the VPRS value in USD will be 1,000,000/9,000 = 111,11 USD.
by this case, the VPRS value in sales order is DIFFERENT with value in Material Master. it also become a problem when we want to see PROFIT MARGIN.
can  cond type VPRS get the correct USD value according to Material Master?
    thanks.

    Hendry

  • Cross company cost estimat

    I have two company code A001 and A002, both got two plants, P010, P011 for A001, P020,P021 for A002.
I have finished product 2000532 in both plant P010 and P020, in P020 plant, I don't want to maintain purchase info record, but in plant P010, I maintain purchase infor record for 2000532 material.
now in P020 plant, how to do cost estimate based on P010 's purchase infor record?
we use purchase infor record in costing variant setting

If you want same std cost in Plant B as in Plant A, then easier way would be to create a Special Procurement Key and assign the same in Material master - Costing View of Plant 2 ( OMD9)
You have to do the following steps :
    1. Go to  Transaction OMD9
    2. Create a new entry .Enter your Plant = Plant B (receiver plant) "SP Pr Type" = Z1 and Proc Type = F;
    3. Under Special Procurement Secrion
Enter U as special procurement and Plant Ain the Plant Field (Transferring plant)
    4. Save this entry, and in Mat Master of Plant B specify Z1 as Special proc key in Costing view (NOT MRP VIEW)
    5. Run CK11N in Plant B... and release from CK24
This will take the price of Plant A ..

  • Release actual cost in Material Ledger

    Dear Experts
I want to copy the actual cost of period 1 to be standard of period 2.
    I did the following activities:
1- I run all steps for standard cost estimates for year 2012 and released the standard cost estimate for periods 1-12.
2- On January 2012, I did all steps in CKMLCP up to post closing. This is done mid night 12:01 (01.02.2012).
3-  I run marking CKMPRPN, I checked "Manual Date" 01.02.2012 and in "Rule Maintenance" I selected "Perioic unit price in previous period. There was no error but when I check MM03 for a specific material there is nothing in coulumn "Future Price"
4-  I run CKME and got error  "C+811"
Please advise how to copy actual PUP to be standard of next period.
    Regards
    Ahmed Zain

    Dear Maria
Taking all the above contribution in consideration, they are valuabe. Yours has hit my direct problem. I need the following calrifications, please :
1-  In CKMLCP is it a must that marking and release of PUP takes place after "Post Closing Step" or I need to do them right away after "Revaluation of consumption step" , then do post closing? in other words, does the PUP will be calcuated after this step b"Revaluation"  and can be subject to carry forward for next period. If this is true then we can select manually the next period and do the post closing.
2-  My understanding to note 666681 is that, by the end of current period "Feb, 2012", I do  all CKMLCP steps up to post closing, then I mark PUP - select manual date 01.03.2012  ( correct me whether it will be 01.03.2012 or 01.04.2012). If I check MM03 for any material I can see PUP in Future colunmn in costing 2 view. By the end of Period 3, I will run CKME for the marked PUP and so on...
Your torsh is required to throw more light in this corner, please
    Thanks

  • Missing CO Sales Order Item in 643 Cross Company Movement

    Hi all,
we are working in a make-to-order scenario in which the company A/plant A sells a finished product produced by company B/plant B.
The sales order item is a cost object (account assignment category E – “Ind. cust. w. KD-CO” is set in the requirement class in use) and is derived into the Transfer Order (Account Assignment tab) from production company B/plant B to selling company A/plant A.
When we try to transfer the finished product from plant B to plant A by means of 643 movement the system provides error message  KI 235 – Account xxx requires an assignment to a CO object where xxx is the Cost Of Goods Sold for company B. This is due to the fact that FI is not able to derive the sales order item as a posting cost object.
We have activated cross company  CO objects by deactivating the Company Code Validation indicator (field TKA00-RKBUK) for controlling area settings.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.
    PierGiorgio

    Hi Abhi,
yes it is: "E" is the entry value in the field consumption of the requirement class involved.
    Thanks, PierGiorgio

  • Cost of goods manufactured vs COGS+ Material ledger

    Hi Experts,
My company is implenting Material Ledger. They want to see the actual cost of goods manufactured. We are able to develop the actual cost of goods sold in COPA. The required report is to show:
1- Direct material used at standard + variances (price + usage) to give the actual.
2- Direct labor (standard + variances = Actual)
    3- Manufacturing overhead ( standard + variances = Actual)
Attached excel file is showing the requirement.
Your guidance to develop this report by any means (Report painter, BI, other).
    Regards
    Ahmed Zain Hassan

    Hi Ahmed / Ajay.
    1. In order reports KKO0, you dont see the revaluation of ML, as you said Consumption and Activities are revaluated at  Material level, and as far as i know, theres no way to add  records that represent the revaluation.
    2. The easy way to have a Order Report revaluated at actual cost is with LIS(Logistic InfoSys), creating a Z infostructure (eg copy lis S027) that store consumption and activity QTY, and a user exit  that read the actual cost of consumed materials (depending if this is V, S2, S3) and activities and revaluate. In LIS, there are standard way to "re-post" or repopulate the infostructures. This LIS can be reported with the standard functions (ReportPainter, quers on SQ01), or create a Z tcode that show the info stored in the way you want. Problem: Not all know how to customize LIS, and also you need code in the exit.
    3.  In my country (Peru), there are lots of companies that develop a Z Kardex valuated at actual cost (because, is a legal requirement), and also create Zprograms that calculate the order at actual cost (indeed, i create this reports twice). Its a bit complex, but not impossible and depends on custo EG if you have multiple valuations, you need to write code in order to get the infor for this specific valuations.
    4. About COPA, you can post to copa the Actual Cost Component Split calculated by ML. In this CCS, you can identify the Labor, Direct Materials, and overheads.  You have 2 options, You can post the delta to the original field or have an aditional field that store the difference. This stuff is done in KE27, i see 1 example in the SCN (i guess i bookmarked). Its important to understand you dont have the detail of the delta per consumed material, just an agregated value.
    Here is the link
    http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPFI/KE27+Periodic+Valuation
    5. There is a new ML DrillDown report functionality. Indeed, i couldnt spend time analizing the solution (my test system is with EHP5 and dont plant to upload the OSS), but i guess this is the future. You can look for info with tcode KKML0 in the marketplace, also check this oss 1639462 - ERP accelerators: enhancements in ML drilldown reporting
    My questions:
    What you want?
+ Order Report, i mean Cost detaild per Order? The Actual CCS por order?
+ Material Report? I mean, the monthly average of a Fert, and its CCS ?
+ a PA Report, that show Sales (Incomes), and Costs per matiral , split by Direct, Labor and OverHead?
    Arturo.

  • Dump when execute MMPV (Material Ledger is actived)

    Hi experts,
    This is my scenario:
    - We are testing in a Development system (No productive system)
    - Material Ledger is actived since 12-2011
    - No Material Ledger period end closing made in 12-2011
When we execute MMPV the system shows the dump:    SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC
We applied the sap note: 1123034 - MMPV: SAPSQL_ARRAY_INSERT_DUPREC error in SAPLMLCCS, but the dump continues.
I checked the table ckmlkev and I saw registers to Company Code 0200 Period 2 and Year 2012, however if I check OMSY transaction, I saw only Company Code 0200 Period 1 and Year 2012.
There is something extra to do?
Thanks in advance for  your help,
    José Luis

    Hi,
This short dump is produced when the system tries to insert a new
entry in table CKMLKEV but a duplicate entry already exists in the same
    table.
CKMLKEV indicates in which period which cost component structure is
used for the actual cost component split. CKMLKEV entries are created
by MMPV. Their existance for these periods indicates that the period was
    shifted already by MMPV.
What you can do now is the following: please check the period
    status in ML.
If the status is undefined, then delete the CKMLKEV entry and re-run
    MMPV.
If the status is period opened (or higher), then you have to reset
    the MM period.

  • Higher activity price in cumulative run in Material Ledger

    Hello,
    Scenario:
The company is using material ledger and doing periodic run. After the periodic run, company post financial transaction and run cumulative run to take impact of financial transactions.
During cumulative run, system is using actual price of the last month and revaluation the cumulative qty with this price. Due to no catual activity, the prices are very high. Due to this, system is revaluating cumulative quantities of all months with very high price (of last month).
Please suggest to resolve this issue?
    Neeraj Rawat

    Hi Srinu,
Do you mean that, just after changing the KP26 values, u are expecting the same to reflect in your cost component structure of materials? KP26 is only to plan the price of an activity type in a cost center. This will be applicable for the future period. ie when operations are confirmed in production orders in future, this costs will be absorbed to the production order.
Use  S_ALR_87013611 or similar reports for actual activity prices(debits) and actual activity quantities. Former divided by later will give you the actual per unit activity price for the last period.( in case of 1 to 1 relationship between cost center and activity).
    Best Regards

  • Actual Costing concept in Material Ledger

    Hi
Masters , can any body please explain the concept of Acutal costing in material ledger i think that involves the following steps:
    1 Activate actual costing.
2.Define userdefined names for receipts and consumption
3.Assign user defined names for receipts and consumption /
for the above 2 and 3 points what is the purpose we have to define and assign user defined names in coantrolling level selecting the B+ Procurement and V+ Consumption.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
Actual costing is a huge concept. It is difficult to explain the concept in few words
Please go through the following link for detailed informaton:
    http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/print46c/en/data/pdf/COPCACT/COPCACT.pdf
    Configuration Points:
Path: IMG>Controlling>Product Cost Controlling --> Actual costing/Material Ledger
    1. Activate Material Ledger for valuation areas
    2. Assign Currency types to Material Ledger Type
    3. Assign Material Ledger Type to Valuation Area
    4. Configure Dynamic Price Changes
    5. Define Material Update Structure
    6. Assign Material Update Structure to a Valuation Area
    7. Activate Actual Cost Component Split
    8. Activate Actual Costing
Coming to your Questions 2 and 3. they are required to be created if you want your own Controlling level for transactions that you would like to differentiate in the material ledger, further than the standard system offers. Normally we don't use unless there are some specific business requirements
    Some key points would be:
ML records all receipts, consumptions and variances for each material.
ML gives overview for each material of the starting balance, receipts, consumption, variance and ending balance.
ML calculates the actual cost for each material u2013 finished goods, packaging.
If a material has BOM, variances of lower levels are rolled up to next higher level up to finished goods, to calculate actual cost for raw material, semi finished & Finished goods in ML as unit price.
Calculated actual cost at end of month can be used as standard price for next period in the material master.
SAP MM is on standard price based costing, ML can do monthly average costing.
Direct settlement of all kind of price differences / exchange rate difference/ to materials at the end of the period.
Once activated , it is not that easy to deactivate although possible with implications like not having historic data.
Cannot be used in isolation : All the plants within the company code shall be material ledger active.
Material Price change is not possible after first transaction in that period.
Using material ledger, inventory in US plant in Canada will be available in USD and CAD
    Hope this would help you.
    Best Regards
    Surya
