Group and legal costs without Material Ledger

I was wondering is there a way we could have both the group cost and the legal cost in the system without having to configure material ledger. Currently we have Group cost in the system and no legal cost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi NIK83,
There is no other way to have multiple valuations w/o having ML in SAP
ML is the only solution... If you want to upload the legal values, you can use the tax price or commercial price fields and take out a report comparing the 2 values using T code MRN9
but, you will have to uplaod these values.. these cant be calculated w/o ML

  • Issue with Standard Cost estimates / Material Ledger

    Background:
We have been using SAP for the last 5 years with Material Ledger active. Due to a number of reasons, we have not revised its standard cost estimates from 2001 till now. This means that at month end, we do not mark and release prices as recommended, nor do we mark prices and use dynamic release.
    What Happened:
A new material called PFSW3 was made. This is a FERT. Before production
could start my team released the standard cost estimate for this material. Production was now able to proceed without problem. Then, when the time came to sell the material (VF02), SAP again raised the error 'cost estimate not found'. On checking the standard price in MM03, we discovered that the future cost estimate was missing. So we created and marked a new cost estimate in the middle of February 2007.
    Problem:
When the first sale took place, SAP released the marked cost estimate and posted a Price Change document to adjust for the new standard cost. I understand this was due to dynamic release. Now, when month end came, the system settled all the production orders of material PFSW3 but did not do multi level costing on it.
    Internal Investigation:
My team has determined that the material PFSW3 has price determination 2 set by mistake. All our other production materials (HALB and FERT) are
set to price determination 3 in the material master (accounting view).
    Questions:
    To sum this situation up,
we need to know why the material PFSW3 was not marked closed in its period status (CKM3) at the time of closing through CKMLCP?
What are the implications of not closing this material in Feb 2007 (current period status is showing 'Quantities and values entered')?
How can we close this material this month?
The future cost estimate is again missing for PFSW3 in March 2007 and I
fear we are going to face more problems as this material is sold to customers.
Please respond this is an urgent issue.

    Dear Shumyl,
Please, have a look at Note 645083 - Material period status set to "Closing Entry Completed" that might help to closing your material in previous period.
    Hope it will be useful.
    Regards,
    Flaviano.

  • Effect of Activating Cross company costing in Material Ledger

    Hi all,
We are live with ML from seven years and now we want to activate cross company costing. I would like to know if there will be an impact of this in the material ledger side. If anyone has comeacross this situation please share your ideas about this.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

    thanq for reply.
IF I can update standard price in 3 views, how can i see three standard prices in different views?
I am facing another problem also here.
we have 3 company codes and 3 plants like VN01,SG01,IN01.
When I am doing standard cost estimation for IN01 with group costing variant for group valuation, I am getting error "Object was not costed", but where as If I use standard costing varaint ( PPC1), I am not getting any error, system is showing correct standard cost estimation?
Where as If I use group costing variant for other company codes, I am not getting any error.
Is there any customizing missed regarding standard cost estimation, when material ledger is activated?

  • CO and Process order without material using T. Code CORO

    Hi
We need to use Process Order without material functionality for recording "changeover" time and cost (i.e. setting up process for production of other material in a production line).
For this purpose we have configured a separate process order type. We have created a separate activity for Changeover and planned rates using KP26.
Now we create Process Order without material using T. Code CORO and confirm it using COR6N. On confirmation system successfully credits Cost Center.
    We need to know:
    1) whether we should settle the process order as well or no need to assign settlement profile to Order Type
    2) Or should we run Cost Estimate first.
Plz help, if any have idea

Thank you all for your valuable input.
Srinivasa, your suggestion is very good, especially when calculation of variances/WIP is required. But again as there is no cost relevant material where the WIP/Variances will be settled during settlement process?
    1) PP need to create process order without material because changeover cost should not be charged to either material and capacity hours are consumed during changeover. 2) CO need to identify the cost of changeover which should be charged to cost center. So far we have achieved both of these two objectives by the following activities:
Creation of Process Order without material using CORO T.Code     say 3 hours of changeover occurred we create order with quantity of 3 Hours. And confirmation of activities quantity 3 using COR6N so cost center is credited by 3 x rate per hour. As there is a separate Process Order type for Changeover we can identify changeover quantity and cost in a given period.
After contributors feedback in this thread I have come to conclusion that I don't need to assign Settlement Profile and PA Structure to Changeover Process Order type. So no need to run Process Order settlement. As there is no specific required for Changeover WIP/Variances as well.

  • VPRS Cost in Material Ledger

    hi all,
    i have some problem here.
we use 2 local currency. first local currency is IDR, and second local currency is USD.
our client use material ledger, so in material master accounting 1, we maintain 2 value of inventory (in IDR and USD)
let say we create material XXX (using standard price)  in 01 jan 2011 , with IDR value 1,000,000. the system will convert to USD with exchange rate in 01 jan 2011 (which is 10,000). so the USD value will be 1,000,000/10,000  = 100 USD.
then in 10 january 2011, Sales order is created for material XXX with document currency USD .
cond type VPRS get 1,000,000 IDR and covert to doc Curr (USD) with exchange rate in 10 jan 2011 (which is 9,000).
so the VPRS value in USD will be 1,000,000/9,000 = 111,11 USD.
by this case, the VPRS value in sales order is DIFFERENT with value in Material Master. it also become a problem when we want to see PROFIT MARGIN.
can  cond type VPRS get the correct USD value according to Material Master?
    thanks.

  • Business Groups and Legal Entities

    Hello All,
Can any one please explain abt Business groups, legal entities, organizations (flow) with an example. While quering the apps tables i see column called org_id.
But when queried genal ledger tables there is no such org_id ? why?
    Kind Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi
Org Structure that u can see like this
    Business Group--> Set of Books-->Legar Entity--> OU--> Inv Org
BG: It segregates Human Resource data such as employee
SOB: It is financial entity which define a chart of account, Fuctional Currency and Accounting Calendar (it means it dealt wiht 3 C's-Currency/Calandar/Chart of a/c)
LE: Each OU must point to a legal entity that has its own set of set ups data and transaction table, each OU has its own Payables,Receivable, Cash management, OM and Purchansing. And it dealt with Local Tax authorities.
OU: Each Inv org must point to OU. and Inv org has its own bill of materials,WIP and MRP.
Inv Org: Where you have manufacturing plants and labs to which it assigned.
    2. Basically org_id define the OU, whereas organization_id is used for Inventory org.
Organization_id store in table hr_organization units and orgid is stored in table a
    x_y_all (eg. ap_invoices_all)
Here note "_all " every table whose name ends with all stores date that is segregated by OU (orgid)
for eg. ap_invoices is basically the veiw of ap_invoices_all where dat is segregated by org_id. for this we gendrally use an API to fetch data in ap_invoices.
Hope this little clear to you now.
    Thanks

  • Release actual cost in Material Ledger

    Dear Experts
I want to copy the actual cost of period 1 to be standard of period 2.
    I did the following activities:
1- I run all steps for standard cost estimates for year 2012 and released the standard cost estimate for periods 1-12.
2- On January 2012, I did all steps in CKMLCP up to post closing. This is done mid night 12:01 (01.02.2012).
3-  I run marking CKMPRPN, I checked "Manual Date" 01.02.2012 and in "Rule Maintenance" I selected "Perioic unit price in previous period. There was no error but when I check MM03 for a specific material there is nothing in coulumn "Future Price"
4-  I run CKME and got error  "C+811"
Please advise how to copy actual PUP to be standard of next period.
    Regards
    Ahmed Zain

    Dear Maria
Taking all the above contribution in consideration, they are valuabe. Yours has hit my direct problem. I need the following calrifications, please :
1-  In CKMLCP is it a must that marking and release of PUP takes place after "Post Closing Step" or I need to do them right away after "Revaluation of consumption step" , then do post closing? in other words, does the PUP will be calcuated after this step b"Revaluation"  and can be subject to carry forward for next period. If this is true then we can select manually the next period and do the post closing.
2-  My understanding to note 666681 is that, by the end of current period "Feb, 2012", I do  all CKMLCP steps up to post closing, then I mark PUP - select manual date 01.03.2012  ( correct me whether it will be 01.03.2012 or 01.04.2012). If I check MM03 for any material I can see PUP in Future colunmn in costing 2 view. By the end of Period 3, I will run CKME for the marked PUP and so on...
Your torsh is required to throw more light in this corner, please
    Thanks
    Ahmed

  • Rejection and Regrinding cost of material

    Dear Experts,
I have query on regrinding of plastic. Pl find below the scenario
    1. I produced 10 nos of Finished goods
Cost of Each FG is $10
(FG Cost Break up  -RM Cost $7 and Labour $3)
    2. After production , quality has rejected 2 nos of FG and passed 8 nos of FG
    3.  Rejected stock of 2 nos are moved to rejected location
    4. Subsequently Rejected FG stock, was regrinded and additional labour cost of 2$ incurred
    5. Now this Regrinded material will be used as part of raw material to produce the FG.
    6. Subsequently client has produced the FG using the regrinding material, during this process he incurred Labour cost of $3
Pl let me have your inputs, as to how costing will be captured in this scenario.
    Thanks
    Sanjai

I assume when you produce 10 you do a goods receipt of 10 at full standard cost of FG. Therefore no scrap or QA cost recorded on the order for FG. 2 units rejected by QA sent to a separate location at full FG cost - 20. Following should be the next steps -
    1. Create a separate material with a cost of 0.01 / unit to represnt the rejected material say RFG.
    2. Do a material to material transfer from FG to RFG for 2 rejected units. At this time the price difference of 19.98 (9.99 / unit) will be booked to record the loss.
    3. Create a separate material for reground material.as semi finished item with BOM component as RFG and routing containing labor. Let's call this material as RGRM. The cost of this material should be 3.01/unit (3 Labor + 0.01 cost of RFG). In this example cost of 2 units will be 6.02.
    4. FG should have an alternative BOM with RGRM as component. Let's say you manufacture 2 units back, out of reground material. Your actual cost for the work order will be 6.02 (cost of 2 RGRM) + 6 labor = 12.02 against the standard of 20 for 2 units - a favorable variance of 7.98.
Net loss is 19.98 (incurred in step 2) reduced by a gain of 7.98 (in step 4) is because of extra labor (6 in step 3 and 6 in step 4).
If you record the rejected 2 units as manufacturing scrap or QM inspection write off and thereby recorded on order then this may change. But creating parallel materials probably will stay. This sure will have to be vetted by your PP, IM folks.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Subodh

  • PR-PO material with one material group and GRN with another material group

2.Vandor Master- Auto PO enable mark this tick in purchasing tab of vendor master
    3. Material should be valuated maetrial
    4. P oran shoud be a STD p organ and it has to be assigned with the plant,,
5 Info record has to be maintained with the Value/price with the Validity and tax code

  • OKEOK: in which table can I see a certain Group and its Cost Centers ?

    Hi All,
with reference to the Standard Hierarchy for Cost Centers (OKEON) , could anyone tell me in which SAP table i can find the Cost Centers associated to a certain Group?
Thanks a lot for your help.
    G.Rossi
Moderator: Please, search SDN; this question has been asked several times on the forum

    Hi,
all CO groups are stored in tables SETHEADER, SETLEAF, SETNODE. The values assigned to groups are stored in SETLEAF, for cost centre groups: SetClass 0101, SetName: the name of your cost center group (no matter if its standard hierarchy or not).

  • Difference between normal Costing run and Costing run in Material Ledger

    Hi everybody,
I have a question i wanted to know why we implement Material Ledger .
If material ledger is for settling variances on material then that is also possible without material ledger
Please clear the doubt what is different in ML as compared to normal costing run
    thanks in advance
    Regards
    Deepa

Costing run is to calculate the std cost estimate of materials and Material Ledger costing run is to calculate Actual cost of production of materials.

  • Material Ledger,Revaluation Production Cost Center ,Standard Cost

Hi, I have a problem with  revaluation of production cost centers.
Firstly,  production cost center expenses are settled via activity types onto the production order at the end of the period. However,  CKMLCP revaluate cost centers after the settlement because of using standard price. So cost centers at the end of the period have some amount.
As a result we can not find  actual price for production orders.
If I use standard cost in order to consume on cost centers, material ledger revaluates again this cost centers. I dont want this condition. Because this cost center is settled to other cost object before closing.
    Thanks.

    Hi
Go to the following path in SPRO:
Controlling -> Product Cost Controlling -> Actual Costing/Material Ledger -> Actual Costing -> Activate Actual  Costing. Double-click on "Actiavte Actual Costing" and change the indicator from "2" to "1".
