EJB and JDBC operation
Hi,
We r using both JDBC and EJB's to perform DB operations.
We have encountered a problem where operations on the EJB's
dont apply on JDBC operations done later on in the same txn.
The same goes the other way (If we perform an insert using JDBC and then try to
lookup the bean with that ID, it fails).
We understand the reason for this behaviour, I'm looking for a way to make them
"see" each other, is that possible somehow ?
thanks,
Asher.
You need to run both operations in a JTA transaction and ensure that you
get your JDBC connections from a TxDataSource.

How are JNDI and JDBC related or implemented using EJB's
For instance if I create an Entity bean, how do I get access to the database?
Do I create some sort of connection method?
Is JNDI used to lookup the beans and JDBC separate from that only to connect to the database?
I am a little confused.
Thanks.Hello,
With respect to entity bean you need a Datasource for obtaining a sql connection to database. After obtaining a connection to database you can persist your entity bean's state to database.
Once you create a datasource, you have to bind it to a JNDI name. This JNDI name can then be used to lookup datasource, just like you use telephone directory to obtain a person's telephone no if you have his address.
You also bind your enity bean to a unique JNDI name so that clients can lookup the bean and use services offered by it.
JNDI is used to lookup EJBs, datasources, JMS Connection factories, etc and JDBC is used so that you can persist your enterprise java bean's state to database.

(261680070) Q SYNCH-11 How do my web service methods accees EJBs and java classes?
A<SYNCH-11> How do my web service methods accees EJBs and java classes?
A<SYNCH-11> It is simple to use java classes, just do it as you would ordinarily.
The .jws file really contains a simple class so you can program with it in the same
way that you would use a regular Java class.
To use an EJB you can go and access it directly as you would with any EJB remote
client (lookup home stub, create, etc) or if the EJB is deployed to WLS you can use
a control to provide a very simple wrapper to the EJB. We will see this in detail
on Thursday in the ADVC module.Futher information about the possibility of callback:
It may be possible for a synchronous only web service (i.e. MS .net) to even paticipant
in the callback functionality of asynchronous web services. If the client implements
the appropriate methods for the callback but listens for them on a different port
or binding than the SOAP request, then web service may be able to build a response
if the client's "callback URL" is submitted as the beginning part of a conversation.
Watch the BEA developer forum (http://dev2dev.bea.com) for more information about
this approach and other tips and techniques for building web services.

this is true.
Does it means my async methods will only work with J2EE clients?
A<SYNCH-03> I do not know the limitations of .net but let me point out that
is very
difficult to provide asynchronous web service method invocation (this is
different
from an asynchronous web service). HTTP as a general communication protocol
is based
on a request and response paradigm so your client libraries will mostly
likely be
expecting a response even if it is empty (check the asynchronous example
from today
to see that the start method still returns an empty response). You must
distinguish
this from the notion of an asynchronous web service which is a business
operation
that occurs on the server whose return value/result is not directly associated
with
building response to the client. An asynchronous web service can (and generally
will)
be started and stopped with web service operations that are invoked synchronously.
Thus MS .net clients can still be client to WLS hosted web services. -
REJECT_CODE Vendor information and/or Operating Unit information is missing
hi
i am using Oracle Applications : 11.5.10.2.
i am trying to load suppliers and suppliers data into oracle AP.
i tried doing this with some sample data.
i executed the following code below :
insert into AP_SUPPLIERS_INT (VENDOR_INTERFACE_ID, VENDOR_NAME, SEGMENT1, STATUS)
values (*10006*,'XXX Financials2','199999','NEW');
i then ran the following process:
Supplier Open Interface Import
the supplier was added without errors
i then inserted a record into the
AP_SUPPLIER_SITES_INT table :

AP_SUP_SITE_CONTACT_INT chart shows the LAST_NAME is a Required field
If you test this out directly in the Suppliers window in Oracle Payables:
Navigation: Suppliers-Entry
Queried up a Supplier, then clicked into the Site field under the Contact tab.
Entered the contact information and omitted the Last Name, when trying to save the record,
the system gives the following message:
*'FRM-40202: Field must be entered' and the cursor is on the Last Name field. This is a required*
field and is the intended functionality.
Hope this will help

Problem with EJB and JMS - Failed to obtain/create connection
hello ejb and jms programmers,
My problem is my topic MDB keep on retrieving the same message when there is a database connection failure. Maybe somebody could help me how to prevent to retrieve the same data?
Given:
- I purposedly turn off the pointbase database because im testing my error handling.
- Im using SJSAS 8 as my application server.
- My message Driven Bean of topic type.
- Im using CMP for my entity bean
Here is the scenario of whats happening - step by step:
1. A separate application publishes a message to JMS queue server
2. My MDB retrieves this message and do some processing then inserts a record (transaction history) in my database
3. But my db is turned off or down
4. My MDB sends a successful processing reply to the JMS queue server
5. Then i noticed that my server.log keeps on growing so when i opened it, the record was not inserted and printed the stacktrace below "RAR5117 : Failed to obtain/create connection. Reason : javax.transaction.SystemException" (complete stacktrace below)
6. I understand the cause of the stacktrace is because the DB is turned off. But what i dont understand is that my MDB keeps on reading the same message. Since my MDB is of topic type, isnt a topic MDB supposedly reads a message only once???
So my questions are:
1. how do i handle insert database error?
2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same message?
3. any better suggestions?
Thank you in advance :)

Wherever you are handling database transactions,
you'd not be able to create a Connection if database
is closed (I think you mentioned turning off the
database) then at this condition, you should
certainly throw a System level exception and stop all
processing with some meaningful flow to indicate a
failure (like display message on UI). Even
network problems are handled by exceptions... so I
don't see a reason why you didn't wrap it in the
first place.
Anyway, try handling specific exceptions rather than
the general Exception... this will give you a better
idea of what to do in case of an exception.Yes i know this. I am practicing this in my non-j2ee server applications. But the j2ee app im making, i just pass the db url in the descriptor and the app server automatically creates the connection for my app. So where would i put exception handling?
2. how can i stop my MDB from processing the same
message?Guaranteed delivery is not supposed to stop
processing. It will continue to process the message
after certain intervals till the message is
delivered. You shouldn't deliver it at all, if you
are able to detect that the database is off
The problem here is that my MDB automatically retrieves the message from the JMS queue server. Im not the one retrieving the messages manually.
My assumed behavior of topic MDB is once the a certain MDB retrieves a message it will not retrieve the same message anymore.
thank you in advance.

Problem with rollback in EJB and CMT
Hello,
I faced a problem in my application that I really do not understand (but I really would like to). How can I trigger a rollback of a transaction that is container-managed (CMT)? I know that any system exceptions are supposed to be handled by the container automatically and will cause a transaction rollback when they are thrown from an enterprise bean method. My Problem now is that I'm unable to make this work in my application.
Consider a situation like this:
The ManageEntityBean holds a simple save() method that creates an instance of EntityA and another of EntityB. Both instances store an arbitrary number (here 10). After this, the entityManger (injected from the container) is asked to make these instances persistent. EntityB is mapped with a "unique" constraint, so any attempt to store the same number twice will cause an SQL Exception.
First time when the save() method is invoked, the instances aEntity and bEntity are made permanent in the database. Second time when the save() method is invoked, the database throws an exception because bEntity is violating the unique constraint. What I would expect now is a complete rollback of the whole transaction. Instead, only bEntity has not been made permanent, but aEntity has.
What's wrong with this code?
@Stateless
public class ManageEntityBean implements ManageEntity {
@PersistenceContext
private EntityManager entityManager;
@TransactionAttribute(TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
public void save() {
try {
EntityA aEntity = new EntityA(10);
EntityB bEntity = new EntityB(10);
entityManager.persist(aEntity);
entityManager.persist(bEntity);
} catch (Exception e) {
throw new EJBException(e);
@Entity
public class EntityA implements java.io.Serializable {
@Id
@GeneratedValue
private long id;
@Column(name="NUMBER")
private int number;
public EntityA() {}
public EntityA(int number) {
this.number = number;
@Entity
public class EntityB implements java.io.Serializable {
@Id
@GeneratedValue
private long id;
@Column(name = "NUMBER", unique = true)
private int number;
public EntityB() {}
public EntityB(int number) {
this.number = number;
}I found two related topics in this forum but still I didn't find the solution yet.

ChristophThank you for your input!
The save() method is simply invoked from the test applications main() method:
public class Test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
JndiUtil<ManageEntity> jndiUtil = new JndiUtil<ManageEntity>();
ManageEntity handler = jndiUtil.lookupBeanContext("ManageEntityBean", ManageEntity.class);
handler.save();
}Btw. I use Hibernate as persistence provider and JBoss 4.2.2.GA as application server.
For clarity I attach some lines of the debug logging that is produced when the test application is getting started for the second time:

But what really puzzles me here is, that both calls of em.persist() result in an opening of a jdbc connection and an immidiate execution of a database insert. Tell me if I'm wrong, but is this really the right place to happen?
For what reason soever hibernate thinks it has to make these instances permanent, no matter if there is already a session that is taking care of this. If so, I might deal with a wrong hibernate configuration, I checked, but I can't find anything..
What do you think?
Thanks in advance!

Can EJB and BC exist at the same time in one project?
having to use ADF's BC and EJB to access data in both way due to the special requirements, but I am always getting the deployment failure.
can Ejbs and BC components exist at the same time in one project?thanks for your reply.
I considered to separate the BC and EJB as the separate project. I just use the EJB component to implement the dynamic tree menu, whether a little make a mountain out of a molehill if you as a separate project. -

Help on RFC to JDBC and JDBC to RFC
Hi Gurus
I have the scenario where an RFC will be triggered in SAP , to write to a DB2 database and insert new records in a table
and vice versa the JDBC has to read som data from a table based on a primary key, mark them as read for not be read next time and send the data to an RFC where a table in SAP will be updated.
I have never worked with JDBC before , pls advice.
is there any new issue to consider in PI 7.0 regarding JDBC
Thanks.The requirement looks standard,
SEARCH IN SDN FOR JDBC scenarios,you will find many docs for sender as well as Receiver.

Creating a service ; What needs to be added to tnsnames.ora and JDBC url?
DB version: 11.2.0.2
OS platform : Solaris 10
We have a 2 node RAC.
DB name = mbsprd
Instance1 = mbsprd1
Instance2 = mbsprd2I want Instance 1 (mbsprd1) to be used for our OLTP application and Instance 2 (mbsprd2) to be used for another application of DSS nature.
Based on the syntax
srvctl add service -d <dbname> -s <ServiceName> -r <Preferred Instance> -a <Available Instance>I am going to create 2 services
-- Creating a service called OLTP
srvctl add service -d mbsprd -s OLTP -r mbsprd1 -a mbsprd2-- Creating a service called DSS
srvctl add service -d mbsprd -s DSS -r mbsprd2 -a mbsprd1-- Starting the services
srvctl start service -d mbsprd -s OLTP
srvctl start service -d mbsprd -s DSSI guess the above steps are enough to configure a service at the server side.
I would like to know what needs to be done at the client side.
Currently the tnsnames.ora file and JDBC url used by our clients are shown below. What needs to be added to tnsnames.ora file and jdbc URL to start using services configured above?

One of my external hard drives died. I had several iPhoto libraries in it. Fortunately, I used Time Machine to backup to a Time Capsule and I can see all the iPhoto library icons in Backups.
When restoring the first iPhoto library, after three hours, I got an "unexpected error" message and the operation could not be completed. Indeed, the restored library is smaller than the library in Backups. Is my best choice to try again and replace the restored library (which apparently must be missing some photos)? It would mean another 3 hours plus of restoration with fingers crossed...
Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!I am always suspicious of using a different OS to the one that was used to run the backup.. ie if you used Snow L to backup then there is absolutely nothing wrong with using SL to restore.
Mount the TC sparsebundle and verify it using disk utility.

You might also like to load the widget in Time Machine so you get whatever the full error message is..

IDoc to JDBC and JDBC to IDoc Scenario
Dear All,
I am working on IDoc to JDBC and JDBC to IDoc Scenario.
I have to send Idoc from SAP to Non SAP system(.NET application) i almost configured in XI but still i don't know when my INTEGRATION will INVOKE how my data will proceed from IDOC to Oracle database(Through JDBC) and in case of revese how and when Data flow will start.
Does anyone have completed STEP by STEP scenario document for this?
How my Idoc will sent to XI?
How XI will pick up data from IDoc?
How XI will Convert data to JDBC and UPDATE in Oracle Database?
And i reverse case(JDBC to IDoc) when my INTEGRATION will INVOKE?
Where and When i can watch my process and data?
How can i test the whole integration?
I AM GETTING ERROR WHILE TESTING CONFIGURATION IN Integration Directory "Error while refreshing the XI runtime cache" and when i check this in SXI_CACHE it gives me error
"Unable to refresh cache "NO_BUSINESS_SYSTEM"
"Error during last refresh to cache"LCR_GET_OWN_BUSINESS_SYSTEM - NO_BUSINESS_SYSTEM"
Please solve all the above problems i will reward u points
thanks,
