I have same problem with PSE 8. I am running this on widnows XP. It was working fine. With no obvious reason,
it started crashing when edit window tries to load up from the welcom screen. The organizer link does not crash but if edit selected from the organizer window, again edit window opens for short seconds and then crashes with message "Adobe has detected that the application Adobe Photoshop Elements has unexpectedly quit"
It is a very frustrating experience. I can not finish my project that I started. I hope users or program developers have an answer.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 - Organizer opens, but editor will not.

    I have Windows 7.
    I don't believe I have any plug-ins loaded.
Uninstall program (I have done this so many times. I'm sick of it.)
    Delete files
    Reboot
    Reinstall
I AM STARTING TO HATE THIS PROGRAM.
    Open Organizer
    Open Editor
    SHUT DOWN - there's a problem.
    Reboot
    Open Editor
    Open Organizer
    SHUT DOWN
    Without rebooting
Open Editor or Organizer - WILL NOT OPEN.
I have thought about buying the full blown program, but this one is giving it's big brother a REALLY BAD NAME!!

It only happened to me once, a few years ago, and it's basically a PITA.
The short answer is that if your original standard user account is corrupted, there's no way to fix it -- you have to create a new standard user account.  That's the easy part, the tedious part is transferring all the user settings for your programs to the new user account.
I worked with MicroSoft tech support on it, and although the technician assured me that merging the old (hidden) AppData directory into the new one would be enough, it wasn't.  I pretty much had to launch every app and check to see if the settings were OK.  If they weren't, I either had to find where the old settings were or simply re-do 'em from scratch.
N.B.:  A new user account won't necessarily cure performance problems -- that's usually an entirely separate issue.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 will not open photo editor crashes every time.

My elements 12 does the same thing I have seen written here over and over. Can not open editor, crashes every time. It is updated, reinstalled and administrator is set. Does anyone from Adobe read these boards?

I asked you to try that because one thing that often happens is that the dock icon gets corrupted, and it's best to get the simple obvious problems out of the way first.
What do you mean by "several students"? Is this in a classroom situation? Are these computers all on a school intranet together? We tend to assume here that you are talking about a personal version and a problem with your own computer, not an institutional installation, unless you specify otherwise.
If this is your personal computer, the next thing to do is to delete the prefernces. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
    Adobe Photoshop Elemetns 12 paths
and any lockfiles with the same names. To see the user library in 10.9, option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in the library, go to the saved application states folder and delete anything in there for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • Safari, iTunes & Skype Opens But Hangs Then Crashes Without Notification.

When I click Safari, iTunes or Skype on the dock of my MacBook, it opens, very slowly. But when I click on anything in-app, be it a bookmark, a song or a contact name, the spinning beachball appears. It spins for a minute or so and then the application quits by itself. Both Safari and iTunes quit without showing a crash report or the "unexpectedly crashed" dialogue, although Skype did show up with one.
Infact, most of the applications installed in my MacBook opens very slowly, much slower than before.
This problem started when I opened iTunes about a week and a half ago. When I clicked on a song to play it, then I opened another application (Safari), the song stopped and the spinning beachball appeared. Then more problems followed after that. I tried removing all the songs in my iTunes library and then installing them back again, all 31 GB of songs. It didn't work.
I read in another forum that it may be due to the amount of free space on the hard drive. I only have 6 GB left out of 180 GB. Is that the case?

I read in another forum that it may be due to the amount of free space on the hard drive. I only have 6 GB left out of 180 GB. Is that the case?
This could be the case. Mac OS X 10 likes to have 10-15GB free to use as virtual memory and to store information temporarily while RAM is busy doing other things.
Your options include installing a larger hard drive (they are pretty cheap these days and it's a 10-minute DIY job) or moving your 31GB iTunes library to an external drive: http://www.tuaw.com/2006/09/19/how-to-keep-your-itunes-library-on-an-external-ha rd-drive/

  • PSE 8 Just won't open but for crash report "....unexpectedley quit.

Organizer suddenly won't work today. Error message appears in place of program. Screen opens to Organizer then shows but one file then crashes and a error report is displayed. Tried to open from Editor, Same crash. Disbled preference file ( i.e., pse.old) but the program never gets up enough to write a new preference file.
One thought- can I reinstall PSE8 over the existing program without losing my data-files and tags for my several thousand photos?

I am also looking for a similiar problem with Elements 7.  Happened about 5  days ago.  I click on organizer/edit/etc and it blows off.  I tried de-installing Elements 7 and reloading but it does the same thing.  I still have 5 and 6 still on the system and they seem to work just fine.  Will be watching for a possible solution.  Personally I think Adobe is screwing with us to buy 9.

  • When I click the Editor, it loads but does not open the Editor page. Options?

When I click the Editor, it loads but does not open the Editor page. Options?

Try making separate desktop icons for the Editor and Organizer. You can then launch directly. The standard desktop icon is for the welcome screen which often runs in the background or doesn’t shut down properly.
Start by right-clicking on the desktop and select:
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
Inside the Photoshop Elements 13 folder make sure you select the application (not a shortcut) by scrolling down to the files beginning with the letter P and highlighting ‘PhotoshopElementsEditor’
Then click next followed by finish.
You can repeat for the Organizer using the different file path.
    New >> Shortcut
    Then browse to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 13 Organizer
    Highlight ‘PhotoshopElementsOrganizer’
Then click next, followed by finish.
Now that you have your separate desktop icons you can delete the one for the welcome screen, if preferred. On Mac try launching directly from Applications. [if not using PSE13 substitute your own version and go to Program Files (x86)]

Unfortunately, when I open applications, adobe photoshop elements 13 folder does not appear in the adobe folder. It appears as a disk on the desktop, only.

  • Opening Elements 9 from welcome page

I can't open Elements 9 from the starter page.  The organizer opens, but the edit page will not open.

I'm assuming that you're running Windows.
Right-click on your Desktop and choose New...Shortcut.  In the "Create Shortcut" window, hit the "Browse" button and find the
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
file.  If it's not there, look for the
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    file to create the shortcut.

  • Ive updated my firefox, but now everytime i go online it opens the welcome page to firefox.how do i stop this?

    as above

Ok, but what you are explaining to me is that you open Firefox a welcome page opens up. Well when you start Firefox the first page or pages are the home page or pages.
Maybe I am not understanding what you are saying.

I desperately would like to update Firefox to version 10 from version 9 but each time I try, I am stuck with FF10 checking addons for compatability and the Welcome page opening every time I start the browser. I continue to have to revert to version 9 to resolve this issue.

Sorry to be a while getting back! Tried all of that with no sucess so this AM, bit the bullet and deleted the FF folder from programs and downloaded and installed FF 10.01. Still was plagued with the same problem. Went into the appdata folder and there were two sessionstore.js files. Deleted them both, restarted the browser and no compatibility check for add-ons was done at start up and the extra tab for Welcome to FF was no longer opening Everything seems to be working as it should and I did not loose any of my settings.. Thank you for trying to help and I hope my solution helps anyone else who might experience this in the future. Here's hoping the next update goes smoother!
