Elements 9.0.3 for Mac crashes every time I quit program

I receive an error every time I quit PSE.  I always do File->Quit to leave the program, but even that causes a crash.  I have the crash file, but because of its length I don't want to post that here, but it might help someone understand the problem.  I always get the window that asks me if I want to send a report to Adobe, which I've done several times.  I don't want to do an update to PSE 10 or 11, since I'm afraid it would just update an already corrupted program and leave me no better than I am now.
I'm using Lion, version 10.7.5.
Any help would be appreciated.

So, if I understand you correctly, it's not really crashing, just throwing out the crash message when you tell it to quit?
Try this. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
That library is hidden in 10.7. To see it, option-click the Go menu in the Finder. While you're in there, go to the Saved Application States folder and delete everything related to PSE.
Repair permissions and try again.

  • Dreamweaver CC for Mac crashes every time I try to open a file.

    Hello, I've gone through a lot of the topics and usual fixes and can't seem to figure out why this is happening. I tried the online support and they were of no help either. So hopefully someone has been experiencing it as well and has a solution. I've done the usual Library clean (preferences, cache) with a restart and nothing has worked. I have also installed and resinstalled a few times over the past few months.
    If I open the program and everything is fine. If I open a file that has already been worked on, it will crash before the file opens. However, if I open a blank HTML doc and then open the file it opens, but still seems quite buggy. Even with version 13.1 its just off.
    I've been using CS6 to get my projects done, but why should I have to when I am on a CC subscription? My CC versions of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator all work fine. I don't get it. Any help or insight would be really greatful.

    FG Pages? I'm not really familiar with that term.
    It might have been validation though. I opened some HTML pages that are used for email marketing and they seem to be working fine now. I ran a few other HTML pages through and they're opening too. Before they weren't so something positive happened between restarts.
    Even the file that was crashing it is opening; maybe something is wrong with validation. It has parralax scrolling and a lot of linked files. I'd imagine something could crash it.
    With the new rendering engine will it just crash? It seems that the old one would just ignore things if they weren't in place. The new one looks good, so I am looking forward to seeing how it works and how close it gets to other browsers.

  • Please respond. InDesign CC crashes every time I quit. I'm on Windows 7. (edit)

    InDesign CC crashes every time I quit. Prefs are not saved. I'm on Windows 7. I've rebuilt the prefs several times. Crash on quit happens on InD CC 64 and InD CC. In Windows, Batang is part of a "collection"; Batang, BatangChe, Gungsuh, and GungsuhChe and is a system protected font. Hard to remove. Is Batang the problem on Windows as well as Mac?
    Edit: I have not uninstalled CS6, so I'm running both versions. I doubt that this could make any difference, but who knows.

    yes. I am having this problem and I think it is both ABSURD and RIDICULOUS because Adobe CS6 works fine.

    I have been using Adobe software since 2002 and this is typical. I have had a DECADE, yes, 10 years of patching, reinstalling, re-starting, removing things, running obscure command line scripts, Adobe blaming windows, windows ignoring adobe, Apple acting like they dont know, Adobe doing the same.
    As a WARNING to anyone still using CS6, my opinion: "dont uptate YET" cause Adobe made it disgustingly difficult to roll back to CS6.
    system restore is your friend...
    yes, I am cranky. Last thing I need is the 3 hour game of grab bag forum hockey download this and jump through this hoop cause we forced you to update with no rollback. *sigh*

  • Numbers for iPad crashes every time I try to open the date and time keyboard.

    I had numbers 1.6.2 installed on my iPad 2 with 5.1.1
    I can use every feature without problems, but when I try to open the date time keyboard input method it crashes invariably. I tried to fiddle with language, keyboard, region settings and calendar as noted in other posts b to no avail.
    Any idea?

    Hello, I have the same problem. I have an iPad2 with OS 6.01 and Papers, Numbers and Keynote crash every time I try to open a file. Furthermore, I saved the Getting Started file and when when I tried to open it again  the software crashes. Any idea about what is going on?

  • CS3 crashes every time at quit

    Howdy all, this post is similar but not identical to others. EVERY TIME that I use CS3 10.0.1 the application crashes when I use the menu to "QUIT PHOTOSHOP." This occurs even if I have opened the application and NEVER opened a photo at all! My MAC OS is 10.5.5. I am running on an Intel iMac of 20 inches. I have 3 GB of RAM and have a 235 GB hard drive of which 132 GB is free. On the iMac I have Parallels installed but this happens even if I am not running Parallels; ie. even if I have not been using XP at all. In fact it happens even if Photoshop is the ONLY application running. I have an Epson 2400 printer, a Linksys router, and a Brother 2040 laser on the system. I also have an HP 2175 scanner, but the crash occurs even if I have this turned off and disconnected from the system. The error message that I get is " The application Photoshop quite unexpectedly. " I use the Apple automatic check for updates function and that is how I got to this version of Mac OS.
    Does anyone have any suggestions? This happens every time. When using Photoshop I do not get any crashes, and it seems to work trouble free. ONLY when I go to close do I get these error messages.

    Solved!! I have no idea what was wrong, and no idea what I did to correct the problem, but it works now. First I re-installed Mac OS. Leopard and checked for ALL of the available updates. At that point I attempted to boot Photoshop, but I got a message that I needed to re-install CS3. After re-installing this, tedious I might add, and attempting to start the application, edit some photos, etc, then QUIT the application all was fine again. I might add, that I was NEVER able to delete the custom workspace that I created within Bridge. I could not find a file with that name and using the menu option to delete the workspace was not effective. At this point the application works fine, as does the custom workspace within Bridge . I must therefore conclude that the workspace was never the culprit in this strange order of events.

  • CS4 AE Crashes Every Time I Quit

    I know about the Crash Reporter and the Apple Crash report which I have sent many times. Just looking for a couple suggestions on how to try to troubleshoot this or what to look for in the Crash Report that may help me. I will not post the report here, just looking for some overview suggestions.
    I get this literally every time I close AE CS4:
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Brad Loflin

    Hello, Brad.
    This is very likely a known issue, which makes the application crash on exit when script panels are docked.
    Check this technical support document to see if this is indeed the cuprit and how to avoid it.
    If this is the problem you're experiencing, the AE team is working on a solution.
    BTW, thanks for filing the data in Adobe Crash Reporter and sending it.

    What's causing this?

    Yes, at first I could not believe that it could be as simple as that. I had my site crashing all over, on every page. I removed using dotted lines as a design element, and that fixed the instability.
    Glad to hear someone else has pinpointed the line as the culprit -- I am not alone. Ha ha ha. By the way, that is a nicely-crafted website.

    Hi,
    Can you please confirm whether the volume on which you are installing Photoshop Elements is Case Sensitive or Case In-Sensitive? To find this out you will need to perform the following steps:
    1. Launch /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
    2. Click on the Disk from the left panel (Not the Partition)
    3. Click on the Partition Tab
    4. Check the text that is written in the Format Tab. Is it Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)?
    If it is Case-sensitive, Journaled, then you will have to make this volume as Case-Insensitive by selecting Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as PSE is currently not supported on case sensitive volumes.
    Thanks,
    Tarun

  • CS5.5 Mac crashes every time I change Window Size in Design View

    I'm using DW CS5.5 (version 11.5 build 5344) in Lion 10.7.3.  I added in a couple of window sizes (in Preferences) that correspond to iPhone and Android phones - 320x480, 480x320, 480x800, 640x960.  The 640x960 one works, as does a 592w one that came with Dreamweaver.  Any of the other ones, though, cause the app to hang in this one particular file I'm editing.  However, in the simple jQuery Mobile starter page DW creates, these resolutions work fine.  This appears to be related to some CSS code that I have inside of a CSS media selector:
    @media screen and (max-width:480px)
    There is also a corresponding
    @media screen and (min-width:481px)
    in the CSS.
    To test this, I created a window size of 481x320, and that seemed to work completely fine without crashing DW. The 480x320 one crashes DW.  I assume that's because it's using the different CSS section.
    Pasted below is the CSS code that goes along with the section that seems to cause the crashing:
    @media screen and (max-width:480px) {
      .column {
        margin: 1em 0;
        border-bottom: 1px dashed #7b96bc;
      #visit, #points, #main {
        width: 100%;
        .taplist li {
        width:50%;
      #map {
        display:none;
      .header {
        display:none;
    To further test this out, I commented out all of the code within that block.  The window sizes did not cause it to crash then.  I then started to add back in pieces of code to see when it began to crash.  The crashing seemed limited to the bottom two (#map and .header), although it wasn't consistent.  In some situations the window sizes would work and in others they would crash.  I didn't test every combo just because it took a lot of time.  With both of those in place, though, every one of the 480 or less sizes crashed.
    Notable, the #map section is commented out in the HTML, however including that in the CSS still causes intermittent crashing.
    I also deleted my cache file to see if that was it, and no luck.

    Thanks very much Chris for pointing me in the right direction.  I downloaded FontDoctor, and it found one questionable font which I deleted.  However CS5 continues to crash when selecting the Design Workspace. So I followed the steps outlined in the Adobe document you linked.  When I got to the point of downloading the FontTest.jsx file and ran it, CS5 crashed right away without writing any log file.  I turned on app.displayDialogs = DialogModes.YES, and CS5 is crashing with a TypeError: undefined is not an object. So I don't know if this is related to my original problem, or not.  Any thoughts on how to proceed to get the FontTest script to run properly?  I took all of the normal defaults when I installed CS5 (e.g., didn't select any alternate paths, don't have any add-ons installed, etc.).

  • When I send email from iphone, mail on my mac crashes every time.

    The latest in a string of issues I've had with Mountain Lion, and even more with Lion. This is the latest and most frustrating.
    Eveytime I send an email from iphone or ipad, mail on my macbook pro crashes. This happens everytime!
    Also, Safari is unusable as keeps crashing and hardly ever loads properly so moved to Chrome which works perfectly.

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • IDVD on a mini mac crashes every time

    Hi everybody. Can anyone help me? Here I am with a brand new MinMac, with a superdrivbe, loads of memory, and an iMovie project (or 3) that I want to burn to DVD. The trouble is, eachtime I click "burn" in iDVD, the app just crashes and offers me an option of telling Apple about it or not. I've reinstalled the software, I've run a hardware test, and nothing to show for it. Has anyone had a similar experience?
    Yo.

    At what point is iDVD crashing? Is any encoding happening, or is it right after you click on burn?
    I've run into something similar. After upgrading to iDVD 5 in Panther, I noticed that I'd get the little spinwheel of death once iDVD hit the audio encode. I tried everything that's been suggested in this thread, but the application just hung, and refused to do anything, except require a force quit.
    On another messageboard, someone said that wasn't uncomon, and suggested just letting it run. So I did. After getting to the spinwheel, I walked away and did some other stuff. An hour later I came back, and the DVD was done.
    After upgrading to Tiger, it crashes once it gets to the audio encode. I get the same message about 'reopen', 'close', 'report'. Of course that was the first time I've tried burning anything in Tiger, but it's not looking promising. I'm retrying the same disc as I type this.

  • Firefox for android crashes every time I try to open it

    I am fairly new to fire fox but was really liking it on my new galaxy note 8 tablet. However it updated in the last couple of days and ever since then it won't open. I have not yet tried uninstalling and reinstalling as I am not sure if that is the best course of action. I'd be grateful for any help! Thanks.

  • AE crashes every time I quit application

    When I am done for the day and go to close AE CC2014 (release 13.1.1), I get a crash report with the screen below.  Standard layout with 1 additional ScriptUI panel (Ease and Wizz) open.
    Project saves fine, but when I Quit, I get an error and crash log without fail.  Only started doing it with the new update.
    Any ideas?
