Elements 9  editor won't close

Help please. When I am in organizer on my Mac and I click on a picture to open it in Elements it says that the editor is busy and I need to exit before it will open the photo. What Have I done and what do I need to do? Thanks, Rob.

Switch over to the editor and figure out what it's doing. You can't quit it while there's a dialog box onscreen that requires a click to close it, for example, or if you have unsaved changes in an image it won't quit till you say whether or not to save them.

  • Elements 7 editor won't open

I have elements 7 and the editor won't load. It gets as far as the twain menu items loading and aborts. I tried holding Ctrl   shift  alt as suggested in another post but no luck. I am using windows 8. I had this problem before and an adobe assistant helped me out but I guess I don't qualify for that type of assistance this time around.

Try deleting the Editor's preferences, step 1 of this FAQ:

  • Elements eleven editor won't install again. Help

After accidentally deleting my elements eleven editor it won't reinstall again.  Despite me having the disc, serial number and the fact organiser is still working.
My mac pro says it 'installation encountered errors'.  But it only says that right after the whole installation process and serial number input.  So far I have tried reinstalling it multiple times, verifying the disc with disc utility and there seems to be no problem there.  But it won't work anymore.  So frustrating this is, I have wasted my weekend trying to resolve this, can anyone help?

The issue is, unfortunately, more likely with your Mac than with the program (assuming that the disc itself isn't damaged). Have you tried just downloading the program from Adobe's site (assuming it's version 13)?
Otherwise, you may want to open your Mac's Disk Utility and run some diagnostics on your system to ensure something on your Mac is not failing.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Editor Won't Open

I have PSE 9, and the editor won't open (organizer will, but not editor). When I click "Edit" from the welcome screen, the welcome screen just disappears and nothing happens. I tried accessing the editor directly from the program files folder, and again, nothing happens . I tried right-clicking on photos and telling them to open in PSE. Nothing happens. No error messages or anything-- it just won't open.
It worked fine on my old computer in Windows 7, but I recently got a new computer with Windows 8. I tried running in compatibility mode for Windows 7, but that doesn't solve the problem. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing.
Please help me-- this is driving me nuts! Thanks.

Yes, but the odds are that you chose the logical file instead of the correct one. The actual editor is hidden away inside the support files folder for PSE 13 and the file at the top level of the Applications>PSE 13 folder is just an alias to the Welcome Screen. You really want this one:

  • After 2 mos, Adobe Elements 12 Editor won't open

Worked fine before, now Editor won't open at all either from the Organizer or from anywhere else, such as Lightroom. Suggestions please

Interesting.  I just closely examined the error dialogs I was getting when PSE 12 failed to launch.  There were numerous problems with case sensitivity errors for various frameworks inside the application.  For instance, one of the errors complained that it could not find the "AdobeLinguistic" framework.  The reason evidently is that the name was actually spelled without capitals.  It was "adobelinguistic".  I manually correct quite a number of these types of errors by renaming the offending area in the Framworks section of the application bundle.  This continued with each launch.  I'd get a new error.   I'd correct it and try again.  Another error.  Another correction.  Finally, it got past all the issues and launched PSE 12.  However, at that point, there was some internal error in PSE 12 (no surprise) that prevented it from running yet didn't show any kind of dialog where I could attempt to perform any further corrections.  I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that I have my disk partition setup as a case sensitive partition.  If someone else has a disk that is not case sensitive, I suspect they wouldn't see this error.
I've reported this as a bug on the Photoshop Family Customer Community in the hopes that someone from Adobe will see it and take corrective action.
I realize that some of you may find this post over your head a bit technically and for that I apologize.  But since I had already posted here earlier, I wanted to get this out so people would understand that there does appear to be a real issue with PSE 12.  We'll see what Adobe has to say.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 editor won't open

I have Photoshop Elements 7. The organizer, create and share tabs work fine but when I try to open any 3 of the editor modes I get the error message: Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable.
I tried restarting my computer because I heard that someone was able to fix a similar problem that way, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Try this
    1.. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 Editor won't launch

I've downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, which I've purchased. After completely installing and signing in with my Adobe ID, I'm prompted to accept the EULA again. After clicking Accept, the application closes and doesn't open.
I've uninstalled, rebooted and re-installed the application on my Win 8.1 64-bit system. I had downloaded the PSE 12 trial, which i've uninstalled as well. I know that something was not uninstalled, because after the re-installation I don't see the original splash screen prompting me to choose between the Organizer and the Editor. When I selected the Organizer, it would open fine. I changed the preferences to open immediately in the Editor, hoping that it would launch if that were its only option. This didn't work either. I also tried Adobe online chat support and they advised that they had no online solution to my problem and to post a question in the forum. There is also no phone support option for PSE. What do I do now?

Windows will close the program and nitify you if a solution is availuable.
Funny thing is Organize loads and works fine

See if the changing the default printer to a file-only printer helps, as described in solution 3:

If that doesn't help, try reinstalling with anti-virus completely disabled while you install.   And if that doesn't help, I recommend working methodically through these troubleshooting steps:

  • Elements 13 Editor Won't Open

I recently upgraded from Elements 11 to 13.
The new Organizer works fine, and the catalogue converted fine.
But when I try to use the Editor, it won't open. It asks me to sign in with an Adobe ID and to register the product. (It is registered).
After a wait, it says my internet is not working (which it is) or that my clock is set wrong (which it is correct).
Very frustrating, as I can't work with my pictures. I had no problem with Editor from Elements 11.
    What is the issue?|

I haven't used Norton in years.  Maybe one of the links here can help:

  • PLEASE HELP! Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 editor won't open!!

Hi! I'm new to the forums and to Adobe. So, I'm a little clueless about all this stuff.
    WELL
everytime I click my Photoshop icon the welcome screen appears and the editor begins to load.
However, the screen doesn't pop up at all. Just the welcome screen. It just shows the Photoshop Elements editor's small window on the bottom of my screen. I click on it and the editor doesn't show up at all.
It did this a couple of times before. But, now the editor isn't showing.
My organizer works just fine, but I'm wondering if I can somehow open Photoshop's editor on the organizer?
If you could please PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME and reply as soon as possible! I would love to draw  and color on Photoshop again as soon as I have fix this problem!
    Thank you so much!
    -Marley

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Organizer and Editor and that will bypass the welcome screen and any advertising.
On Windows right click on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails)
    Select it and click OK
    Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
    Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application (.exe file which has the blue PSE icon). As before take out Photoshop Elements just leaving the description Editor and it will show up clearly on the desktop.
You can keep the standard Photoshop icon which links to the welcome screen but I prefer to delete it from the desktop. If you ever need to get to the welcome screen you simply click Window >>Welcome on the top menu when the application is open.

  • Elements 12 - editor won't load

Brand new, just got Elements 12 for Christmas.  Have uninstalled and restarted.  Organizer opens, but editor will not.  The welcome page says my trial has expired.  I assume that is for the free 30 trial for premiere, which I did not opt to install.  When I click on the eidtor, the progress bars run and then stop and nothing opens.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash:

  • Photoshop Elements 13 editor won't load

With no warning, I suddenly can't load the Photoshop Elements 13 photo editor. I can open the organizer, but nothing happens when I try to open the editor. I've tried to open directly and I've tried to open from within the Organizer. Nothing happens, No error messages, no nothing.
What could this be? It was fine two days ago.

  • Help with Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor - Won't work after Maverick upgrade

I bought Adobe Elements 11 in March of 2013.  It was working fine until upgrading to Maverick.  It will not open now.  Adobe will not help without a serial number.  Apple does not provide serial numbers when you buy directly from the App Store.  After 3 hours of trying to unintall and reinstall, no luck.  Apple said to call Adobe back, Adobe says to call Apple.  Finally just asked Apple to refund me the $85.00.  They said said they ‘can’t’ since I’ve ‘had it for so long’ (7 months ?? ).  They said the problem was my fault because I didn’t check and make sure Adobe Elements was compatible with Maverick before installing Maverick.  I should mention that it states (on the App Store page) that Adobe Elements 11 is "compatible with OS X 10.7.5 or later”.   Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and if any kind of resolution was achieved?   Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 editor won't open.

I get the Adobe sign-in menu when I try to open it asking me if I want to buy or try a 30-day trial.  I can open the Organizer (by going into the program files).  I have been using PSE 12 on my MAC for several months--no problem.  Do I need to reload the program?  If so, how?

Did you install other programs or drivers since the last time your PSE12 editor worked? If so, did you try to restore windows with an earlier restorepoint which should be stored on your computer? You'll find info about restoring your windowsversion on the Microsoft website (for O.S. windows 7 look at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore). For other O.S. just google
