Elitepad 900 improper shutdown/restart/sleep, BSOD/hang: wireless card driver problem, Windows 8

There doesn't seem to be a discussion section for this product, so here goes...
I've been trying out the HP ElitePad 900 from a local vendor for possible use in our environment. I work for the resident IT shop as a Network Engineer and while I was testing out the product, I ran into an interesting bug. Seem that the  products wireless card (the Qualcomm Atheros AR6004 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter), when the Power Management of this device is set to not "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", it will not shutdown completely, it will not reboot and it will not go to sleep.
Rebooting with the wireless card's set in this manner causes a BSOD (or whatever they're calling it for Windows 8). The error says that there was a power state error.
If you let it go to sleep, the devices does not respond.
Shutting down, the device hangs at shutdown, preventing it from fully shutting down.
None of my other devices running Windows 8 have this problem.
The driver version is 3.7.0.206.
Again, I'm just testing this product. I will not be able to further troubleshoot the device. I'll leave that up to the support people to work this out.

Hey Guys,
I discovered the same problems with my Elitepad. However, I installed the following update and it seems that at least the stand-by problems are solved:

  • Shutdown, Restart, Sleep best method for looking after everything?

I'm just wondering what Apples stance is on actually shutting down, starting up putting to sleep etc and its effect on the hardware?
I'm sure i read a while ago that just having it a sleep was the best bet as it keeps the battery ticking over, doesn't have any cold starts which are bad for hardware etc etc....
Daily i use all day sleep at night and then do a quick re-start in the morning.
Or should only restart when needed?
So what do Apple say on this, any write ups about it?
    Thanks

Never turning the MBP off or allowing it to sleep or hibernate definitely does increase wear on some of its components, notably the hard drive.
In normal sleep, my 15" MBP draws one watt of power (and the AC adapter draws another watt). In hibernation, the computer draws no power at all (it is completely off), and the adapter continues to draw one watt. There is no significant wear and tear on any part of the computer in either mode.
My MBP sleeps whenever I'm not using it. I only shut it down when I'm replacing hardware or (rarely) carrying out a test in order to respond to a question here. It hasn't been shut down for more than a total of about 8 hours in the 23 months I've owned it. The same was true of the five previous Apple notebooks that have been my primary computers for 17 years. They have all traveled everywhere with me, always in sleep mode (the computers, not me).

  • Old MacBook Pro slow and hangs frequently, hard drive problems?

    Hi,
I have an old Macbook Pro (one of the originals, from about 4 1/2 years ago). Recently I've been noticing that it runs really slow, especially when its been running for a while and there are multiple programs open. It will take a long time to switch between windows, opening a tab in Safari will usually cause a spinning beach ball for 10-15 seconds and Safari crashes frequently. Other programs have similar problems, but don't normally crash. It's running Snow Leopard and has 1GB of RAM. Obviously I expect it to be slower with lots of stuff open, but my usage patterns haven't changed and its performance certainly has. The harddrive always seems to be being accessed when I have these problems.
The hard drive S.M.A.R.T. status is "verified," and I ran the Apple Hardware Test and it came out fine. But I'm still really worried that something could be going wrong, especially with the hard drive and since I am going away in a few weeks to work on a project and will be away from my backup drive I really want to make sure any problem is taken care of beforehand.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the the problem or about anything I should try?
    Much Thanks.

With lots of concurrent processes and insufficient memory you will experience slow performance and beachballing. This is because the OS is forced to use the hard drive to replace the non-existent physical RAM. See the following:
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor
Memory Management in Mac OS X
Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Also, a small hard drive with too little free space and a system lacking in any regular maintenance can also lead to slow performance. See the following:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    ynchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.
Referenced software can be found at CNet Downloads or MacUpdate.
This should give you a few things to start sorting things out and getting better performance from your computer within its limitations.
If you have a Core Duo model then 2 GBs is the maximum RAM you can install. If you have a Core 2 Duo model then you can install up to 4 GBs but they system will only make use of 3 GBs. As for the hard drive it can be replaced. Notebook drives in the 250 to 500 GB - 7200 RPM range are relatively inexpensive. Visit OWC for pricing on drives and RAM. Visit Data Mem for pricing on RAM.

  • Pavilion A6750F hangs after new drive with Windows 7 64 install. Suggestions?

Pavilion A6750F new hard drive with clean install of Windows 7 64.  The system will hang on many screens from IE to Outlook 2003.  If I wait, they will correct themselves.  The Bios is version 5.13, but I do not see an update available.

    Hi,
There might be several items to check.  Open the RUN window and enter: MSCONFIG
Make that the boxes under the Advanced TAB are unchecked.
It's very possible since you installed a new hard drive that the hard drive is faultly.  Recheck the sata cables and run some bios diagnostics.
Open the RUN Window and enter the following command: chkdsk
Open my Computer and right mouse click on the hard drive --> properties --> Tools --> Check now

  • Boot from usb device on hp elitepad 900

Hello, how can I boot from USB flash device on the hp tablet elitepad 900?

You have to create a bootable USB drive and then copy the bootmgr.efi from an Win7 machine to the USB drive.  I ran into this issue when I reinstalled the OS on mine and it was a pain to figure out.

  • Sleep and to hot to touch problem

I'm reading all these problems about the MBP getting to hot to touch while sleeping (not).
I haven't seen anybody put all there specs down. I think it is a graphics card driver problem but can't be sure because not everyone has said if they're using "Better battery life" or "Higher Performance".
We never have this problem with our two new MBP's unless we are using "Higher Performance" If we remember to change to "Better battery life" our MBP's never get too hot to touch. However, the few times we've forgotten to switch and left them on "Higher Performance" they've gotten too hot to touch while sleeping. I say sleeping but not really, as they never really go to sleep in this mode.
    One of our MBP's is a 2.8 the other is a 2.53.
    Matt

sounds like you have a hardware problem I would take it into a apple store

  • Shutdown restarts after a few minutes and sleep shuts computer down.

When I shutdown my computer, the shutdown process starts, computer goes into "logging off"  and continues for a few minutes before restarting automatically. When I go into "sleep mode" ,  computer appears to go into the proper mode, but a few minutes later, shuts down. When I log on again, Windows advises that I had an abnormal shutdown.  Sleep and shutdown appear to have reversed for some reason.

    Hello hankaree,
Knowing what model computer you are using and what operating system you have will allow me to provide you with exact instructions if needed, however try disabling all non Microsoft applications to startup on the computer and put the computer in a clean boot state.
    1. Click on start
    2. Type in the search field or click on the run application depending on your OS
    3. Type MSCONFIG
    4. When the mosconfig window comes up click on the startup tab
    5. Disable all
    6. Reboot
    7. Test
If the system behaves as normal then we can start enabling things to see if we can find what is causing the issues. If the problem persists we can start trying to looking at other solutions.

  • The restart/sleep/cancel/shutdown menu shows up all the time.

We have one of the newest imacs (beveled back), and it has started automatically asking if we want to restart/sleep/cancel/shutdown as if we had pressed the on/off button. If I hit cancel it comes back up again shortly thereafter.
Is it a faulty on/off button that need to go in for repair?

You should really use the Apple dropdown menu to select Sleep, Restart or Shutdown instead of using the power button.
To "Allow the power button to put the computer to sleep" Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Energy Saver and check the box "Allow the power button to put the computer to sleep"
Noting that: the power button should only be used to shutdown an iMac, if it is totally unresponsive.

  • Drive Damage From Improper Shutdown?

I left my Satellite L355D-S7901using Vista for a while and when I came back the computer was unresponsive, the screen was dark, and it would not start up by pushing the power button. I was unable to get to the Task Manager using Control/Alt/Delete, moving the mouse or pressing keys. The blinking sleep light was not on, and the hard drive light was blinking every few seconds. After a few minutes, I did an improper shutdown using the power button and holding it for 5 seconds. The computer shut down. When I rebooted, Windows reported that windows had been shut down improperly, and I selected the option to restart normally. After the computer seemed fine after it rebooted.
Why could this have happened? Did I damage anything by shutting the computer down like this? Was there any other way to get out of this situation without shutting the laptop down with the power button? I read later in the manual that shutting the computer down with the power button while the hard drive light is blinking could damage the hard drive, and I'm worried about it. Everything seems OK, however.
    thanks, Kevin

Impossible to say.  Windows likely put the system to sleep and was unable to 'wake up'.
Did I damage anything by shutting the computer down like this?
Physical damage?  No.  Corruption of the data on the hard drive?  A remote possibility.
Was there any other way to get out of this situation without shutting the laptop down with the power button?
No, IMHO you did the correct thing.
I read later in the manual that shutting the computer down with the power button while the hard drive light is blinking could damage the hard drive, and I'm worried about it. Everything seems OK, however.
The manual is referring to a situation where data is being written to the drive, in which case the hard drive light would be flickering several times a second, not blinking every few seconds.  Even in that case, performing a hard shutdown with the power button would not physically damage the drive.  What has a good chance of happening is corrupting Windows to the point where it would not start.

  • Windows 8.1 Random Slow Startups, "Improper Shutdowns"

Is this the right subforum? I almost chose frezes/hangs but that's not exactly what it is so...
Please note that this is a copy/paste from another forum where I sought help. Today is another day from the one referenced in the indented text below. In fact, my system had a clean and safe boot with no speed issues or stalling tonight. The issue is not consistent. Though I was seeking help at another forum, I grew uncomfortable with the steps asked of me (deleting caches and temp files that I'd rather keep and using a third-party defragger; getting standoffish when I requested explanation for why I was being asked to run three or more "cleaner" programs and if defragging was honestly necessary on a mostly-new machine that just got a clean bill of health from HP) and was brushed aside with something of an attitude. Here's the original info on the issue:
Alright, so, yesterday I noticed that it seemed to take a little longer than usual to start up my laptop (HP Pavilion 17-7042nr with Windows 8.1 64-bit; I've only had it a short amount of time and it was purchased refurbished). I didn't think too much of it, however, since I was starting it at the same time as my seven-year-old Vista machine so by comparison it was still way faster (20+ seconds vs. the old one's 2 minutes). After that, didn't think anything of it...
Today, however, I started it up on its own and it took far too long compared to how it used to behave. I've noticed this a few times in the past, but always figured Windows was adjusting itself after I'd installed stuff etc. But since there was no need for it to do that this time, I got suspicious and started looking in the event viewer. To my shock, it claimed that the last shutdown was improper and that's why it took forever; it was actually rebooting.
Trouble is, as far as I knew, no it most certainly did not shut down improperly. I turned it off using the power button, which is set from the power plan to perform a shut down. It did the normal thing: processed the shut down, turned off the screen, and shortly after turned off all system lights except of course the one to indicate that it was plugged in. All seemed well, and was not slower than usual or anything of that sort. So I have no clue why or how it's shutting down improperly.
But not only that, I tracked it back and several times, as far back as the 19th of February (as well as a couple of times while it was in HP's custody for unrelated maintenance; they apparently did not notice it, either, as it was given a clean bill of health before return) this has been occurring. I've transferred a ton of files, settings, programs, etc. since then so I really didn't want to do a Restore. I did, however, consider it... only to discover that my previous Restore Points before the system was returned by HP have been destroyed. So no chance of going back before the 19th, even if I wanted to (I don't, frankly).
I have no clue what's going on, but here's the events from the first ever time it happened:
the logoff/power down is listed as:

--"THe previous system shutdown at 5:12:03 AM on 3/17/2015 was unexpected."
I tried googling, to no avail, other than a suggestion that it might be caused by some sort of system file issue. So I ran "sfc /scannow" in an admin-level command prompt and when it was finished it said: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios."
I tracked down the log file and it's rather huge but toward the end I found that "Amd64\CNBJ2530.DPB" was corrupted. Naturally, I investigated... But according to the thread I found it's some kind of printer-related thing, and I've never even connected a printer to this system, much less a Canon brand one as the info I found suggested. In fact, the thread I linked claims that it shouldn't cause any huge issues, so... Probably not the cause of my shutdown issues, which are more pressing. Thus, I can't find anything to indicate what's causing this problem.
The only thing I can think of that I had done around the 19th was I was trying to get rid of Beats Audio crap on my laptop. (Don't even get me started on that hot mess!) So I'd been swapping between the Windows default audio drivers and versions of the Realtek High Definition Audio from both HP and Realtek. But I never had a corrupt install and I don't recall installing one over the other without uninstalling first, so I don't know if that's an issue. Somehow, I doubt it, especially since this issue isn't consistent. Then again, I don't consistently use the audio on my computer so who knows. (UPDATE: Used audio extensively, but it managed a clean shutdown after.)
After all lights are off and the system is shut down, unless I've been using it on battery and it needs a charge, I unplug it to conserve energy. I only ever do this if the battery has a full charge, so I don't think that should be an issue even though hybrid shutdown/fast boot is some kind of hibernation-shutdown combination. I'd prefer to keep fast start/hybrid boot enabled because, well, it's convenient... and I'm extremely hesitant to tamper with the UEFI settings etc. But, of course, if that's the only fix then I'd prefer it to possible hard drive damage caused by the supposed/apparent improper shut down.
Also of note: nothing is overclocked or running outside specifications, as far as I know. My system stats are:
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    AMD A10-5745M APU
    AMD Radeon HD 8610G
    UEFI BIOS Mode
    Secure Boot Enabled
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Now, for extra details. Things that were done during the process included looking for unnecessary startup items (not the real issue to be honest; when it doesn't forcibly reboot due to "improper shutdown" the startup is extremely speedy) and looking at some logs. In particular, here's the speccy log created for my system: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/vIEkYCelmSRyJjuJyye2jgD
I also had to run several "cleaner" tools, which included installing CCleaner, though I chose some files I wished to keep / thought may be important to not just delete willy-nilly. I don't like to randomly delete things that could come back and bite me in the rear, after all. And I'm honestly confused how any of that would related to Windows having inconsistent and seemingly random "improper shutdown" issues which cause it to reboot instead of using fast boot. (I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm saying that I don't logically see how it'd make a difference and when I attempted to ask I was brushed aside.)
Like I said, by all appearances it seems to shut down properly. It has also never crashed on me. Nor has it ever blue screened or randomly rebooted.  This is very much a silent, behind-the-scenes issue.

    Hi @Alley_Kitten ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 17 f042nr Notebook and issues with performance issues or improper shutdowns.
I checked the specs of your system and with what you have posted here you have the incorrect Amd driver installed.  Your's as per your product page is a AMD Radeon HD 8610G . I would go to the device manager and remove all graphic driver, check the box for the driver as well.
Here is a document on recovery options that are available. I do use the refresh your pc method with Windows 8. Please read all the documentation before starting the operation.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • Improper shutdown detected - LDAP backup

Periodically, when I try and connect to a share on the server, the only share I can see is my own user folder and nothing else, when I fact I have a drive and several folder setup to be accessed. But it seems since the 10.6.3 update that something is killing part of Open Directory and the only fix is to reboot the server. Here is what the Directory Services Error Log shows when I notice that I can't do what I could do an hour ago.

When I go to the Configuration Log for the same time frame, it appears that a backup script is running but perhaps doesn't shut down the service properly (hence the error) or can't restart it, or something. I have a crash report in the Console for these events. Here is what that log shows for that event (not the crash report, too long and ugly).

It looks like slapconfig -backupdb runs hourly but something goes wrong occasionally. Anyone seen this before?

Glad to see I'm not the only one!
I am doing hourly TimeMachine backups. It doesn't happen with every backup, but it does seem to happen when the backup gets "stuck" for one reason or anther. It's as though the scripts lock something down, and then I can't get to the shares via AFP. I can over FTP though while they are "invisible" to AFP.
But the next time the script runs again it seems to clear itself up. So, perhaps shutting TM off, then restarting the service would free the thing up. I have no instant fix at the moment. Just throwing more info out there.

  • Time Machine:  When it's backing up, can't open new apps/shutdown/restart

Running Snow Leopard. I just did a MS Office 2008 Service pack 3 upgrade. And noticed that while Time Machine is backing up, I can no longer open any new apps or shutdown/restart the macbook. Nothing responds anymore.
Related issued: If it's been sleeping, I can't type anything to unlock my computer.
In either situation, I have to hold down the power button to shut down and restart. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Have you seen these...

  • Mail unexpectedly quits following electrical outage/improper shutdown

Following a brief electrical outage in which my iMac improperly shutdown, Mail has repeatedly crashed. The crash seems to happen immediately following MobileMe synchronization.
After the initial crash, I ran Disk Utility to repair permissions and re-started the computer. The crashes -- described by error message as "Mail unexpectedly Quit"--continue to occur.
I appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem.

Did you use Disk Utility to repair the drive or just permissions? The latter is of no use but the former may be especially after an abnormal shutdown.
You may find other problems as well when something like this happens. Abnormal shutdowns can cause disk corruption. At the extreme if can cause a hard drive to fail. To start see the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now it's not likely the above will solve the problem. The most likely solution is to reinstall OS X since you don't know what else may have been corrupted by the abnormal shutdown. If you have a backup clone then erase your main drive and restore the clone. If you have a TM backup from before the outage, then erase the drive, reinstall OS X, then restore your files from the TM backup.
If you don't have a backup then at least backup your personal data before reinstalling.
If only Mail is affected and all else appears normal, then you can try replacing Mail with a fresh copy from the OS X Installer Disc One. Use the Optional Installs installer which will let you reinstall certain applications like Mail without having to reinstall OS X. You might also try removing the /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist file and the /Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.mail/ folder (drag to Trash or Desktop) to see if that fixes the problem before replacing the Mail application itself. If it's simply a corrupted preference or cache file, then you won't need to worry about doing something more extreme.

  • Kernel Power - Event ID 41 - Task Category 63 (spontaneous improper shutdowns and reboots)

I have been having consistent power offs/reboots lately, and im at my wits end about how to fix them.
It always seems to happen when im playing a high end game (Guild Wars 2, Mirrors Edge, etc.).
I havent experienced it while just browsing or doing basic work, or while playing lower intensity games that hog less resources.
The computer screen goes black, it reboots and i get the "windows has had an improper shutdown" kind of message.
Usually after playing the game for an hour at the least, though its happened 2-3 hours into the game as well.
I checked temps, and they are all normal,
Ive also attempted updating drivers, and downgrading from any beta drivers i was using, and none of that seemed to affect it.
    I checked event viewer,
And right before this shutdown i get the critical error "Kernel-Power" "Event ID 41" Task Category 63"
this is the XML given to me in the details:

If anyone has any suggestions as to what could be going wrong, or things to check it would be greatly appreciated.
Ive looked around at others solutions and tried whats helped others and it hasnt done much so far.
it seems like this is a very broad problem, with no unspecific fix in most cases.

    Hi,
This scenario usually indicates a problem with the hardware. Or, the driver can cause this problem. To help isolate the problem, check the following items:
    1. Overclocking: Disable overclocking to see whether the issue occurs when the system is run at the correct speed.
    2. Check the memory: Verify the memory by using a memory checker. Verify that each memory chip is
the same speed and that it is configured correctly in the system.
    3. Power supply: Make sure that the power supply has enough wattage to appropriately handle the
installed devices. If you added memory, installed a newer processor, installed additional drives, or added external devices, such devices can require more energy than the current power supply can provide consistently.
    4. Overheating: Check whether the system is overheating by examining the internal temperature of
    the hardware.
    5. Defaults: Use system defaults, and run the system.
If you see that the computer generates a Stop error that contains a BugcheckCode value that is not reported in an event ID 41, change the restart behavior for the computer. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    2. Click Advanced system settings.
    3. Click the Advanced tab.
    4. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
    5. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.
