Email send via Mail in MAC can't be seen in gmail/yahoomail 'Send' mail section

Okay Mac gurus, I need your help.
Mac model: MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.8 13" Late 2011
OS: Yosemite 10.10
Current Situation:  In my mail app in my MAC, I am using two mailboxes (google & yahoo accounts). I can send and receive emails in the mail app just fine. If I send an email from the Mail app, the email is send and saved under the 'Sent' section of the mail app. However, when I open gmail or yahoomail in the web, this message does not get saved in 'Send' section and I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I have checked the option to "Store send messages on the server" for both my mailboxes in the mail app. What am I doing wrong?
Screenshot:

Your settings are correct.
In Mail click the boxes icon (most left icon in the menubar) if the mailboxes sidebar is not visible.
Then scroll down and you will probably see a second gmail and/or yahoomail mailservername, click it to expand it and you will see a 'sent' and other boxes there, select the sent box, then in the Mail menu bar click the Mailboxes tab and select "use this mailbox as" and select "Sent Mailbox".
then restart Mail and the sent mail will be transported to the sent mailbox above, this goes by syncing with the server, thus you need to have the internet connection, and for many mails it could be not immediate.
This may happen again when you do a "clean install" of an OSX; In that case settings are not taken over from an earlier installation. If you upgrade over an existing installation these settings should come with you.

    You certainly can.
Be aware that the emails you move to local storage ("on my Mac") will be the only copies that remain.

  • Is there any development plan for iCloud Mail so I can use it instead of Gmail at some point?

I would like to leave Google services in favour of Apple, as I feel that Apple is much more serious about their users, more mature and more reliable. I also feel that my data is safer with Apple than with Google.
    So I have some questions:
Is there a plan for introducing business service of Mail or icloud in general, so I can create multiple accounts in our business domain?
Is there a plan do extend Mail capabilities so it supports multiple identities including retrieving and sending through external email addresses?
    Thanks
    Michal

Apple doesn't allow discussing new products here, it is prohibited in the terms of use.
I would suggest you look at the history of Apple's online services…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MobileMe (The sidebar lists release/ closure dates).
In the 14 years since iTools started they have never offered the ability to use custom domains. They haven't really added any multiuser support in one account (not at any level suitable for a business).
Apple also closed down the MobileMe sites and galleries features, causing many thousands of sites to disappear. Apple didn't even offer users the ability to redirect to a new domain. Apple also drop services for older Mac OS's, you may find a member of staff is left out of Apple services because they need to use some older software or don't want to use the latest OS etc.
iCloud is just like Apple's other online services - targeted at home or new users. The integration is good, but only for people who fit into Apple's intended audience.
My advice – do not setup your business accounts with iCloud if you plan on avoiding the disruption caused by the whims of Apple.
If you don't want to use Google use another provider for email, calendars etc (or run your own Mac server if you have the know how).
In the 10 years since Gmail started it has been consistent as is the 'Gmail for my domain'. Google have also removed and changed services, but the core features are still there & work on many older OS's.

  • Mail 5.2 can't get rules to act on sent mail

    Hi
I have successfully set up quite a few rules in Mail 5.2 to filter my messages, but I can't get them work on outgoing (sent) mail.
I tried to set up a rule to send any outgoing message with a certain recipient in the "To" field to a specific mailbox (ie Trash), but the messages just sit in the Sent box.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I'm using OS X's native mail client, Mail. I'm now on Mavericks but the rules that had been working for over a year suddenly stopped working on sent items on the 15th of October 2013 before I upgraded, when I was still running Mountain Lion, so it's not Mavericks' fault.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to suggest any ideas they might have.

  • More than 1 IMAP account in "Mail"? - ...e.g. 2 "gmail" accounts in "Mail"

    Hi folks,
I have currently a "mobile.me" subscription which I don't really use (e.g. I don't need the internet functions like the homepage designer nor the 200gb, etc.). Nevertheless, I would still like to use "Mail" as my primary email application.
Therefore I created two new "gmail" email addresses (one for my wife and one for myself). Although it was quite an easy task to set-up the first gmail address in "Mail" (IMAP) it was not possible to install a second IMAP account.
Please help me! How can i set-up a second IMAP account in "Mail"?
or the other way around. how can I use "Mail" with two different email addresses? ...without a "mobile.me" subscription?
    Thanks in advance
    Dave

    mea culpa!
I forgot to change the description for the second (new) IMAP account.

  • Mail V3.1 can not create a new Cablevision Optimum Online mail account

Apple Technical support asked me to report this on this forum.
I have OS X 10.5.1 with Mail 3.1. My ISP is Cablevision Optimum Online, which uses mail.optonline.net as their POP and SMTP servers.
Pre-existing mail accounts, created under 10.4.x (Tiger) work perfectly. I am unable to create a new mail account with this version of the mail program. Mail's Add Account dialog (wizard) hangs as soon as it tries to connect to the mail.optonline.com server. After a long time trying it just says it can not connect to the server. This happens if I choose the new (and default) "Automatically set up account" option or not. It happens on multiple Leopard systems. In other words, when the mail account setup wizard checks for connectivity to the mail.optonline.net POP server, it fails, even though the mail program has no problem interacting with that same server with accounts set up under a previous version.
We brought a MacBook to the Apple store, and the tech. at the genius bar could not get it to work. He said call the ISP. We did that, spent hours with the ISP tech who told me many people are complaining about this. I suspected it was a problem with the way Mail 3.1 was doing its initial connectivity check. Perhaps using an incompatible port (SSL setting perhaps).
After a good nights sleep, I figured out a work-around. I created a dummy GMail account, after it was created I modified it to have my Optonline account specifications, turned off SSL and it worked.
After I had circumvented this problem, someone else that had the same problem found a different resolution. We both also had .mac accounts defind. When they deleted their .Mac account from the mail program, they were able to create a new Optonline.net account. .Mac uses SSL.... interesting.
Thus, it seems that if you have a .Mac account with Mail 3.1 you can not create an Optonline.net account. A bug that I hope Apple fixes quickly.

iLounge had some good info on this topic. The KEY INFO in the post was that after you have gotten the account set up you need to turn off your WiFi router (if you have one) to reset it.
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=221752
Here are the details on how Optonline says you set up an account:
    Name: type your name here
    Address: [email protected]
Description: whatever you want to put here
    Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name: mail.optonline.net
User Name: xxxxxxxxxx (don't add "@optonline.net" here, but put what goes before it)
    Password: your password here
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Host Name: mail.optonline.net
User Name: xxxxxxxxxx (don't add "@optonline.net" here, but put what goes before it)
    Password: your password here
My other settings under the "Advanced" tab look like this...
    Deleted Messages
    Remove: Never
    Incoming Settings:
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: Password
    Delete from Server: Never
    Server Port: 110
    Outgoing Settings:
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: Password
    Delete from Server: Never
    Server Port: 587
    ===========
This person adds "Oh, one more thing... after you save your account settings, you may need to turn off WIFI, then "power off"... then "power on" turn WIFI back on and try to get mail again after it connects."
    ============
Based on the information I read here and on iLounge I was able to get Optonline email working.
    1) Deleted my Dot Mac mail accounts in Apple Mail
    2) Created an Optonline account based on the details above from Optonline in Apple Mail
    3) Unplugged my Airport Extreme Base Station, waited 20 seconds, plugged it back in.
    4) I was then able to receive mail but not send on the Optonline SMTP server
    5) So...I then went back and checked the details on the Optonline account in Apple Mail. Not sure why but the SSL/authentication selections were changed. So I set them correctly based on the information above and saved. That worked and I was able to send email.
As you are having trouble with Apple Mail and Optonline (why else would you be reading this?) let me also mention that Optonline blocks Port 25 for outbound email so if you have non-Optimum Online email accounts and want to send email on that ISP's server you will not be able to do that unless (a) you pay Cablevision more for a business or boost account (b) use webmail (c) your ISP is willing to provide you with an alternative email port other than 25.
Here is the page from their site on this topic
    ort 25 and Optimum Online
    Answer
All e-mail sent via the Internet is routed through Port 25, the channel used for communication between an e-mail client and an e-mail server. Activation of Port 25 is currently available with Optimum Online® Boost or Optimum Online for Business. Please continue reading for more information, including activation instructions.
    Port 25 Filtering/Blocking
To help control the amount of spam that originates from the Optimum Online network, Optimum Online filters outbound Port 25 e-mail (SMTP) traffic for all standard Optimum Online customers. This filtering is a common spam control measure used by Internet Service Providers. It not only prevents spam sent intentionally, but also thwarts computer viruses that let spammers connect to an unsuspecting customer's infected computer and send spam.
This filtering is transparent to the vast majority of our users. However, if you access a non-Optimum Online e-mail service with an e-mail client application (like Outlook Express), or run your own mail server, you may not be able to send and/or receive e-mail.
    Port 25 Availability
If you require Port 25 to be active, Optimum Online offers these options:
Subscribe to Optimum Online Boost. Click here for more information.
Businesses can subscribe to Optimum Online for Business or Optimum Online Boost for Business.
    Activating Port 25
If you subscribe to Optimum Online Boost, and would like to utilize Port 25, you'll need to activate it. Simply follow these steps:
Log into optimum.net using your Optimum ID and Password.
    Click on Optimum Services.
Click Manage from within the Advanced Config section.
Set Port 25 to On and click Submit. Your modem will be rebooted automatically. Once it starts up, Port 25 will be active.
Optimum Online for Business customers who do not subscribe to Optimum Online Boost can call Technical Support at 1-866-575-8000 to have Port 25 activated.
Workarounds for Standard Optimum Online Customers
If Port 25 filtering is affecting your ability to send or receive non-Optimum Online e-mail, here are some options you may choose to pursue:
Contact your e-mail service provider to see if they support alternate connection methods such as VPN or SMTPS.
If available, use your e-mail service provider's WebMail.

  • HT1694 I have recently updated my iPad and cannot access my mail account (I can access it through Microsoft) but not the mail app that's on iPad.. It continually keeps saying cannot verify account or password.

I have updated my pad and now cannot access my Email through mail on the ipad (I can access it on the internet via Microsoft ) I have tried changingassword and server to pop3... But nothing working that if read from ppl. Please help.. As I love using mail on the pad making it much faster and easier to view my mail. I don't wanna go back to logging in over the web....   Please help :)

When resetting your password, did you turn on two-step authentication? If you did, the Mail App isn't compatible with it - either, you need to create an application password and use that to log in using the iPhone Mail App, (instead of your Microsoft Account password) or disable two-step authentication to make it work.

  • RAW files converted to JPEG files on my mac can't be seen by my customer who has a PC: WHY?

I have been using Adobe CS5 for over a year now but only recently discovered how Adobe Bridge helps with work flow and post processing. My first time using Bridge I put all my RAW NEF files into folders and, after processing them in Photoshop, put all the JPEG files into a seperate folder. Before sending said JPEG images to my client, I batch renamed them to make sure the image file numbers were in the proper consecutive order. My client, who is a PC user, received these images and said she was unable to view them. Her computer system isn't outdated and I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm wondering if there was a formating change that happened when I did the batch rename or if the problem is Adobe Bridge altogether? I did all these on my Mac Book Pro which is only a year old..What am I missing??

Did each image have its .jpg extension? i think Windows likes to see the extension, Macs don't care.

  • Is there a setting in Mail where you can set Peak and Off Peak times so mail is not always "pushed"?

I like getting my emails Pushed to me but is it possible to set times when the Push actually occurs?  For example, between 11pm and 6am you get emails sent to your phone every hour and not pushed?

    Hi Alfred,
Hope you can help me as well. Even prior to upgrading to iO7 on my iPhone, my email aliases suddenly stopped working on my iPhone 5. I deleted the primary account and added it back in, but the previous method of adding the other aliases didn't work anymore. I did find the option to 'add another email,' and pressing 'return' did not allow the alias to save - I got an error message that said: "Invalid email address. Please enter a valid email address for this account."
It's critical for me to be reply 'from' these other aliases, and iO7 no longer allows you to add multiple comma-separated valued to the defaul/main IMAP address.
    Can you help?
Many thanks in advance for any help!

  • When emails are read on one device can they be shown read on other devices

When an email is read on a mac, can it show as read on iphone so you dont have to read them again

It depends on your email provider. Email providers that use IMAP, such as Google or Yahoo, will sync across all of your devices. Email providers that use the older POP3 protocol will not. Some providers may offer you a choice. Contact yours for specifics.
    Best of luck.

  • Gmail and Mavericks - mail disappearing

I "lost" all my mail after Mavericks update, then spent considerable time recovering from Time Machine all my mail. After 4 days, all my gmail was removed yet again from my archived folders. Visible from both Apple Mail and Safari access to the mail server prior all mail has now vanished. Now I'm faced with recovering yet again (about 2 days work) and I suspect only to have it "deleted" from gmail yet again. Is anyone else having similar issues? Ideas on resolution?
    Many thanks

Users are still posting mixed results. Some with no issues and others reporting number of messages downloading to be in the thousands. Mavericks Mail likes the All Mail folder to be checked. If your Inbox has thousands of messages, I suggest you log into your Gmail account in Safari and archive (move to All Mail) most of your Inbox before adding the account. See my blog article on setting up Gmail. You can also read the comments from other users to see what worked for them.
If you test in a new User this gives you a clean environment to add the account. If it works as expected in the new User, add Gmail in your regular User. If you run into problems you know there is some cleanup that is needed.

I use two email programmes on my Mac Mini - Thunderbird and Mac Mail. I can receive and send emails on Thudnerbird and I can send emails on Mac Mail but I can't receive the. Next to the mailbox is a squiggly line like a wave which I presume is the promblem but I don't know what that problem is.
I don't have this problem on my MacBook Air.
The Mac Mini is using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.

If an option exists on networksolutions to allow you to log in to your email via your web browser then access your mail via webmail then try deleting the offending message that way.

One more time, iCloud mail accounts are .me, .mac and .icloud. New ones are only .icloud.
iCloud mail is a standard Imap account that can be used with any mail client in existence. But You are talking about the ability to automatically setup an iCloud account in mail, which did not exist until 10.7.2.
You can use password or token authentification with iCloud mail (in Mail) it is your choice.
Set the account manually, set it as Imap, use imap.mail.me.com (no P number) for the incoming email and smtp.mail.me.com as the outgoing server.
The full settings (ports and security) are here. Use them and it will work, regardless of domain (mac, me and icloud addresses all use the same settings.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL Required: Yes
    Port: 587
    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    Password: Your iCloud password
Note: If you receive errors using SSL, try using TLS instead. SSL is required for both IMAP and SMTP connection with iCloud. POP is not supported by iCloud.
For more information on how to use this information with your email application, consult your application's documentation.
