Email viewing question

Sorry this may be basic but I have several email accounts set up in my iphone. All are able to display email headers in the message list and are updated without a problem.
However, when I tap on the selected email, the actual message is not visible. I see to and from that's it. No subject header and the body of the email is blank.
I have tried to research this is the manual but not sure what is going on.

Go to Settings/Mail, Contacts,Calendars/Mail/Preview....then select number of lines you wish to preview. See if that helps.

Upgrade to 4.5 device software on Telus Pearl 8130: HTML Email viewer doesn't work

I just upgraded the software on my Telus Mobility (Canada) BlackBerry Pearl 8130 (from 4.3).
One of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade was to take advantage of the HTML email viewer (yeah! finally!).
My installation went fine, and the View Messages in HTML option is enabled (was by default, have verified it again).
On my first test email that I sent to myself from my Yahoo account to my default ISP email account, here's what happened. The Yahoo email uses a very simple "stationery" as background, consisting of two small graphic files, one in the upper left and one in the lower right. In between those two graphics is the text you wish to write. So I put the words "test test" in the text portion and sent it to myself.
When the email was received on the Pearl, indeed I saw the two graphics. However, the text was not displayed.
That was the first attempt. The second attempt produced no graphics at all.
I also tried sending myself an email using some formatting, like bold fonts, different text colors, underline and one jpg file. None of the formatting came through, and the jpg came through as an attachment (instead of in the the body of the email where it was placed). When I tried to open the jpg, by clicking on "1 Attachment", I got an error stating that it is an unrecognized file type and cannot be opened.
So it appears that the upgrade took 1 step forward and 3 backwards.
Anyone experience this, and if so, is there a fix, either now or in the works? Does RIM Support read these forums?
Telus Tech Support said that something is being done but they weren't too specific.
I have another upgrade-related question regarding Documents to Go, but I'll post that in a separate thread.

about the third point : it usually takes a long time for the device to emerge after a battery pull. It's quite common, you can't do anything about it.
about the second point. In my opinion there at least one picture that is corrupted (or one index file).
in the folder containing that image, do you have many images ? Let's call that folder A.
I suggest you to move them one by one into another folder B, then scroll through the folder A.
it will certainly reset a few times, until at one point it wont' freeze, meaning the folder A does not contain the corrupted image anymore.
you then know that the last image moved from A to B is the culprit.

Email 'view' spoilt using Nokia's original default...

I detest the the midnight themes forced on to us by the symbian anna update. As i feared the lovely clean Nokia 'black' theme ( badly named but basically green grass, blue sky) is nowhere to be seen on the update..why why oh Nokia?
Anyway managed to find the theme file on-line and everything looks wonderful BUT and it's a big but.. the email view colour scheme is not rendered correctly in short it's looks **bleep**..it should be white text for the email and white text for the email day heading instead its dark blue and the blue used on the day heading is so faint it's unreadable.
Has anybody else found this??

Yes, exactly the same problem here. If you use any theme apart from the default black and white one, the email reader and the email widget for homescreen look bad.

BIS users in Pakistan::: HTML email view with images

Mobilink, service provider, has updated their BIS to 2.5 in July. But they are unable to provide HTML email view with images on Blackberry sets running on ver. 4.5.
Mobilink says that it is only available to BES users at the moment. BIS users will get it late on.
Please explain, is it a Mobilink issue or RIM? as all around the world BIS users are getiing it.

i dont beleive this. RIM wont leave out Mobilink, infact they cant. The upgrade was done on BIS servers across the board not for some service providers. You probably wanna try another device or may be re-install oS On device?

Email view problem. Preview is fine, header information is good, actually message is blank?

iPad email view just went blank. Left column Preview is fine, all the header info for message shows up fine, but actual message is blank? If I try to pinch message to shrink or enlarge, scrambled image and black box may or may not occur. Was working fine last week?

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Separate email views with line break

Having used MS products for years and now committed to Macs, does anyone know if there is a way to get a line separator on email view:
- if viewing by date received, line would separate the days
- if viewing by sender, line would separate the emails by sender...etc
Right now in Mail, it will just show all emails, grouped, but no seperator...

If you've forgotten the answers to your security questions and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

Not going to happen from here. We are users, not Apple. You need to change your rescue email address in your own Apple ID.

Email icon question

Just got my new 9930 and really like it so far.
I have a question about email though. I have 3 different email accounts on the phone. 1 gmail, 1 roadrunner and 1 yahoo. Only the yahoo email icon has an icon on it that let's me know it's my yahoo account. Is there anyway to get an icon or something on the gmail and RR email icons to let me know what's what?

The others who "don't" see that stuff are most likely using Firefox which has a built in PDF viewer that doesn't have those capabilities yet.
Good news is it IS possible to disable the built in viewer and use Adobe Reader as the default.
They need to type "about:config" in the address bar in Firefox (minus the quotes).
In the configuration page, there is a search bar at the top. They need to type "js" in the bar. A short list of settings containing "js" will appear.
One setting is "pdfjsviewer disabled" and the value is "false". Right click it to Toggle it to True.
Then under Tools>Options, in the Applications tab, scroll down to find Portable Document Format (PDF) and Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry and select the PDF viewer you wish to use (the attached image shows "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", and should be "(use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)" for people without Acrobat Pro installed.

Design View question

I'm working on a site using a Dreamweaver template and for
some reason my "Design View" shows up only like you'll see in the
top image on this page:

I want the pages to appear like the template I put on the
bottom so I can see the design. It used to look like that and I
don't know what I changed. Any ideas?
(Yeah, I know Design View isn't ideal, but I'm not very good
at this and I like seeing the graphics.)

Provisioning Status - Email Verification questions

Hello,
I, as the administrator, decided to select the "Email Verification" method of Provisioning Status. I have lots of questions about it.
1. Password. Neither the applicant, nor the administrator specifies it. So what is it? Or did I miss it somewhere?
2. All email providers require secure login. How can I set this up? Without this, I am getting the "ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available" error and the applicant doesn't receive emails from me.
3. The outgoing email (which the applicant doesn't receive) shows up in the mail log, but not its body. This prevents me from copy-and-pasting it and sending it manually (unless I do it right when it is about to be sent). Is there any way to see the mail message bodies in the mail log?
4. It seems that as long as the outgoing mail sits in the queue, that same workspace cannot be requested again, neither can it be deleted because it doesn't show up in the workspace list. It also seems that after a while the mail message is removed from the queue automatically and it is only available in the mail log. How long does the mail sit in the queue before this happens and can I change this period of time?

It gets generated.When the workspace has been created, the email sent to the applicant is displayed. That email does not contain the password generated. Shouldn't it?

That is a fractured sentence. Please clarify.What I meant was that the mail log shows that an email was attempted to be sent to the applicant, but it does not show the content of that email. Does this explanation help?

The workspace does not get created until the user replies to the email. The workspace request can be viewed on the apex_admin pages and can also be removed.The user has no chance to reply to the email because they never receive it due to the fact that the secure login to the mail server cannot be set up. Therefore it is my understanding that there is a period of time (while the mail sits in the mail queue) when the workspace hasn't been created yet, cannot be requested again and cannot be deleted. Do I understand this correctly?
It also seems that after a while the mail message is removed from the queue automatically and it is only available in the mail log.
Is that after the email is sent? No, since the email can not be sent.
Can anyone suggest any books or online resources dedicated to this subject for my education?

Two quick email issue questions

I am a novice when it comes to WiFi's and have a question which deals with it. I am able to send emails from my iPhone when using the Edge service, but when I am using my WiFi connection at home, I am not able to. Nothing happens at all. I can receive emails with no problem.
Also, occasionally when I receive a picture in an email (ie. taken from my wife's iPhone) I can view the picture a few times, but later I will get the message "message not downloaded from server" (or something like that). Why can I not always view the image? Sometimes I can never view them.

Most POP accounts provided by Internet Service Providers will only let you send emails when you are connecting to the Internet using their network connection. So, many people use the AT&T EDGE outgoing mail server cwmx.com. This server can only send when connecting to the Internet over the EDGE network.
Are you using the cwmx.com outgoing mail server? Goto Settings> Mail> tap the account.

As for the pictures disappearing from the emails, it sounds like you may have another email client checking the pop server and causing some type of conflict. It could be locking the POP account or removing the attachments from the emails.

A way to avoid these POP email account issues, is setup a .Mac, Gmail, or Yahoo! account.

ICal Mini-Month View question

A quick question.
Using iCal on Leopard...I noticed the mini-month view doesn't show any marks on it for days that have events. I seem to remember a little dot on the days, in Tiger. Or am I just spoilt looking at the month view on the iPhone, or iPod Touch?
Is there anyway of having it have little dots or halos or anything to indicate when I have an event on a certain day in the mini-month view?

Last thing about iCal which I think could be fixed, is that it would be easier to type down events and making line-breaks if one whouldn't have to hold 'Alt' in while doing it. I make line-breaks much more often than I finish editing an event (in which case you just press enter or click outside the event you were editing). It would be better to press 'alt' + 'enter' in order to finish editing an event, and reserve the action of just pressing 'enter' for line-breaks. This, btw, was also this way in iCal 4.
Ok, last last thing: in the preferences of iCal one can add a default alert to all new timed events and invitations and one can specify how many minutes before one wants to be alerted. I do not want to add a default alert to all new events/appointments, but I would like to be able to specify the default number of minutes put on all new alerts that I put on events. It seems quite intuitive to me that the default number of minutes one can specify for every alarm added to events by defult (if that option is checked in the preferences), should be the defult number of minutes set to alarms one manually puts on events, in stead of the '15 minutes before' default that is in the system and which seems to be unchangable.
If it says '0 minutes before the start time' there, then all alerts that I manually put on events should have this value put to zero by default!
