Emailing from Flash

I know I post for help alot on this project... But I have
decided to un-giveup on it...
I am trying to have it send an email after a chat is finished
using the blue button... to the right of the chat..
To use the program... it is full screen, use the little dot
at the bottom of the screen, that will take you to screen 2, put in
a name, then hit continue (or enter), in the next page is the chat
script, it only responds to HI and Bye right now, then the blue
button should send an email to my email, but its not sending... The

This is using Flash MX by the way.. I am only hoping to send
the chat script to the email in HTML format.
I will include the code to the PHP script (which as been
tested and working using another flash program on my computer..)

i don't download files unless i request them. my guess is
other potential helpers looked at your message and felt the same
way.

Email from Flash - non-disabling TFs, encoding problem

recently I create Flash-based contact form. I have 2 issues:
1. When user clicks the "Send" button, there is and additional layer over the form - Shape filled with black rectangle, 0.4 alpha and one more with window "Sending in progress". I noticed that it is possible to edit the form fields (these are TextFields with INPUT type). The image below is from my Flash projector - as you can see, there is "cursor" in "message" TF.
2. This form uses PHP to send emails by email() function. When I use my national chars, they aren't shown in sent email, there are rectangles. My .php file uses UTF-8 encoding and gets data from $_GET array and when I tries to send email from browser (just typing an address and my national chars in it), everything's okay. Is there a possibility to made Flash using UTF-8 encoding?

you can use the user's default email program, if they have
one. you would use navigateToURL() just like using getURL() in as2
to send email.

The problem is: I have a web site made with Flash 8 and in
CONTACT section there is an email Form, this one must send the
basic sender info (name, email, comments) but my FormMail.pl script
dont works, then I´ll like another one solution for this

I write this, because normaly a working solution in html
should work with flash if it is done right and uses the same
variable naes etc. It might be that your perl script checks for the
referer and the flash form has to be at the exact same location as
the former html one in order to work

Hi Merav
Indeed there is. At the end of where you specify the E-Mail address, type a Question mark followed by the word subject, then an equal sign and add the subject. Wherever you would want a space, use %20 instead. In the example below, the link would open the E-Mail client pre-addressed to [email protected] with a subject of "Minnie's recent behavior".

Email image from flash

I created an email form in my swf. It emails text from input
fields. I want to also include an image with the text. Does anyone
know how to do that?

So first you must use BitmapData to export the data from
flash to some picture file with for example php is good.You can use
BitmapData.draw(Target) and after that to store all the pixels into
array and send to php there must generate new image file.I
recommend to use POST method because the array of pixels is too
long and when you dont have access to the php.ini file to change
the max send data for get the server send errors.Okey now i stop to
talk and i give you link to .fla file because is too long to
explain.This file is my project that you can get picture from the
camera and save into the server is simply application and i think
you can understand the chifly idea.So when you create your
application u must add some lines into php that send the picture

FLASH Activation email from a non-adobe address?

I downloaded latest free version of Flash, then received emails from a non adobe address telling me to click on their link to activate the software. Anyone else getting this? I am concerned that somehow a third-party is tracking the Flash downloads and asking people to click on links that do anything BUT activate the software. The emails are from: Flash Player Activation <[email protected]> but no where in the body of the email does it reference Adobe or display an Adobe logo. The links redirect to https://www.click.icptrack.com/relay.php?**** I have not clicked on the links because I think this is spam but Internet Explorer is still telling me to download the latest Flash version.... anybopdy experience anything similar??

Switching from Flash to Flash Catalyst/Flex

For the last few years I have been developing applications for project reporting. To explain this in simplest terms, my clients give me hundreds of reports and supporting documents, graphics, videos, etc. which I then condense and reorganize into a presentation/application in Flash. The project is then published as an .exe to be burned to CD ROM or DVD along with any supporting files and is then distributed to project stake holders, investors, etc.
I'm considering the possibility of a switch from Flash to Flash Catalyst/Flex and want to outline what my needs are, here in the forum, in hopes that others now using Catalyst/Flex can help me decide if this is an appropriate move.
Features needed:
1. Basic animation, transitions, etc.
2. Full Navigation (up to 3 levels) for up to 300 slides.
3. Keyboard navigation (PageUp/PageDown) to navigate sequentially through the entire presentation.
4. Linking into other applications and documents - Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
5. Full Screen Mode
6. Slide Show Mode
7. Search Features
8. Slide sharing (via email)
9. Video and audio w/controls
10. Pan and Zoom w/controls (panning and zooming of graphics and .swf files)
11. Scrolling (scrolling of text, graphics and .swf files)
12. Interactive forms
Can anyone please comment specifically on these features and wether or not they are possible using Catalyst and/or Catalyst/Flex in combination.

With the exception of making fre-form animations (like a cartoon for example), everything you can do in Flash can be done in Flex considerably faster.
The downside is that Flex applications (especially ones designed in Catalyst) are generally larger, and consume more memory. Personally, I never publish anything made in Catalyst without optimizing it in Flash Builder first.
If the drop in operating performance isn't a deal breaker (most of the time you can't even notice it), then I would certainly consider moving to Flex going forward on new projects.

How to get "Subject" & "Message" text from Flash form to default e-mail MS Outlook?

I have the following code which is working fine except I can't get the user typed data from flash form to my default e-mail (MS Outlook) application. How to edit the following code?
In the code:
1) To ----> this field is okay since this email ID doesn't change
2) Cc ----> this filed is also okay since no changes will be in email ID
3) Subject ----> this may not be always as "Feedback", user may like to change the subject
Whant I would like to add more here is:
1) From ----> this text to be retrieved from "fromText.txt" input text box
2) Message ----> this text to be retrieved from "MessageText.txt" input text box

The problem exist in SUBJECT & BODY.

Link a pdf file from flash for download?

I want to know how to link a pdf file from flash and make it availble for download?

that was fast
i know how to link to another page, using get url. would it do the same way with a pdf?
And also how do i get flash to force a download box, that will appear in front of the flash movie and prompt the user to download the file.

How to email a flash animation

I am trying to email a flash animation to our sales force. I
cannot seem to make this work. The only way that works is making it
an animated gif. However, when I do this, it looks more like an
illustration and my text gets all outta whack. I have read that you
can put it on a server. I am not sure how to do this. Do I have to
have a web site?

Then dzedward's solution is the route you need to go.
Upload the .swf to a server, place the address for the .swf
file in your email, and then send the email. Send the email to
yourself first to ensure that it's working properly.
Be warned though, many people have the security settings on
their email client set such that .swf files are blocked from
appearing in an email. Make sure you warn the client about this,
and suggest adjusting their security settings to allow the content
through if necessary.

Seems like a bug which requires target for parallel effect while hide only but does not set it.
For the time being you can remove the sequence effect as there is no othe effect other than parallel and use effect like
         <mx:Parallel id="fadeOutTw">
            <mx:Fade alphaFrom="1.0" alphaTo="0.0" duration="1000"/>
            <mx:WipeUp duration="1000" />
        </mx:Parallel>
or you can also set target explicitly like :
<mx:Sequence id="fadeOutTW" >
        <mx:Parallel target="{largeImgTW}">
            <mx:Fade alphaFrom="1.0" alphaTo="0.0" duration="1000"/>
            <mx:WipeUp duration="1000" />
        </mx:Parallel>
    </mx:Sequence>
