Emails not making it to MAIL

I have a comcast.net account and by using POP I have it set up to where I can just click on the MAIL icon in my dock to retrieve my emails. For some strange reason I have not been getting any emails through MAIL lately. If I log into my Comcast.net account, I see a whole bunch of emails. It has been working fine up to this point.

figured it out....apparently my mail was offline. I turned it back online and all my mail came back up! I don't recall turning it offline though

  • Why are my emails not visible in Mac Mail?

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
Running 10.10 Yosemite.  Have not had trouble until this morning. Was working in mail and suddenly  I could no longer see any emails.
I closed out of mail & opened it again, that did not help. Turned off the computer. No luck. It still shows that I have emails and I can even send
& receive emails. I just can not see them.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Email not showing up in mail after being opened in outlook on pc

My wife has a Windows laptop and if she opens our email first it will not show up in my mail list. It shows up fine in her outlook if I open it first on my mac. A friend said that there might be a setting on the windows pc to have the messages saved on the server after opening but I can't find it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

Suggestion? Only the obvious one. You say, you can't find a setting in Outlook to leave a copy of the email on your server. Find it. She or you should be able to use the help wizard to find the answer. Or ask the Internet. I did a Google search and immediately had the answer. (The first one that popped up was http://www.madcomm.com/techtips/emailsetup/outlookleavecopy.html.)
But, if she deletes it before you read it, or vice versa... I'd move to using 2 email addresses were I you two.

  • Some email not making it through sometimes, other times no problem

I have a user on my server who complains that sometimes she receives email from a particular person and sometimes not. She receives all other email just fine. I need help trying to diagnose why some of those messages just disappear.
In Server Admin, mail filtering is set to deliver spam, but change the subject line to include * SPAM * so my thought is the message should be arriving one way or another. I've set all logging levels to debug in the Mail services section. I searched through some log files looking for the particular email address, hoping to find a reason it was ignored sometimes, no luck.
Can someone help me find out why some messages from that outsider get delivered and sometimes not?
    Thank you!!!
    --Patrick

Check the client's mail tool (as was mentioned) for its spam filtering settings, and check the details of these lost or missing messages from the sender's end (eg: have the sender forward one of the lost messages to another user), and have the sender replicate the messages to another address for a while (other than to this user), and investigate the contents of the particular messages (to see if there's something tripping spam filtering), and investigate white-listing the sender for the particular client.
I'd also take a look at the version of the client's mail tool (for upgrades or fixes not covered by, for instance, Mac OS X upgrades), and at the configuration of the client system and the client mailer.
It's quite possible to set up message processing rules in most mail clients, and these can cause mail messages to appear lost if the rules are forgotten or miscoded.
It's possible that the mail is going into the bit-bucket at the sender's end of the connection. There are tools which scan out-bound SMTP messages in place at the firewall within some organizations. And there are buggy SMTP servers around. (Hence the earlier suggestion to replicate future messages to multiple receivers.)
Further down the chain of what most folks want to look at are the SMTP logs. Feasible, but somewhat more work than I'd want to start with.

  • Emails not showing in Apple Mail inbox.

    Hi All,
I can see emails being pulled into my inbox in Apple Mail but the inbox appears to be  empty. The only way I can view them is to create a smart folder.
I've checked the Junk and Trash but they're not there.
Rebuilding the Inbox and deleting the preference file make no difference.
I've also removed and readded the account.
I'm using IMAP in Lion (I also have a Mountain Lion iMac but that's okay).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to my confusing and problematic world. We currently have 20-odd users on the Google Apps domain. 3 of them are using Apple Mail to access their mail. 1 is having problems. The only thing different about this user is that we imported messages in from Outlook using the Google mail importer. This is the only thing I can think. The importer seemed to ignore certain folders, even if we retried, and it created folders as inbox/insurance_ etc. I changed all the folders to INBOX in caps, as that is what Mail preferred, and removed the trailing underscore.
This is the only thing different about this user.
On a web browser looking at Gmail, I have:
    Inbox
    Starred
    Sent Mail
    Drafts
    [Imap]Drafts
    Apple Mail To Do
    Deleted Items
    Deleted Messages
    Follow Up
    INBOX/folder1
    INBOX/folder2
    INBOX/folder2/folder1
    etc...
    INBOX/Folder113
    Junk E-mail
    Misc
    Priority
    Sent Messages
4 More (containing Chats, All Mail, Spam, Bin)
I did another "Account Info" and got this: http://gallery.me.com/rtaxerxes/100023/Screen%20shot%202009-11-04%20at%2010.19.5 9%20PM
You'll notice, now it does have an Inbox. But the folders it says are 0 messages and 0 KB do actually have stuff in them on the web browser.

  • Email not checking for new mail

hi, my email has stopped auto checking for new mail ( as it is set up to) , and will only do so when i quit and restart the program
if i hit get mail while it's running, nothing happens
i can see new emails via .mac but will only get them if i quit and restart mail
also now the rules and i have sometimes work and sometimes don't
i tried sending myself test emails, and there is long delay between sending and receiving it ( about an hour )
    thanks

    hi there
    it's .mac
we did try removing the .plist file, and it made no differnce
i am getting increasingly frustrated by the mail app, it's never been a particularlty good example of MAC software ( not very stable ), but now as well as unexplainable lulls where all you can do is watch spinning clock faces ( despite having a fast broadband connection ) , i'm also having to deal with sent emails re-appearing as drafts, even though they have been already been sent
i feel like i don't have the time to keep trying to find out what is going on, as i'm very busy right now, although any help is always appreciated
    thanks
    Alan,
Refresh my memory: what type(s) of account are you
using -- POP, IMAP or .mac?
Since I believe your setting up a new User Account,
and Mail in it worked, did you ever remove the
com.apple.mail.plist, and cause Mail to need to be
setup again? To do this, quit Mail, and in the
Finder open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder.
Control-click over the Mail folder, and choose
Duplicate -- then drag the resulting copy to the
Desktop for temporary backup. Next, open
    Home/Library/Preferences and find the
com.apple.mail.plist file and drag it to the
    desktop.
Relaunch Mail, which will open as though new, and
when prompted to import anything DECLINE.
Instead, re-enter your account info, and Mail will
re-discover the account for this account, and all
    should be well.
Sorry that I have not had time to go back over every
    one of your prior posts.

  • Email not downloading from server - mail activity says there is

Hi all - I have an email account with mail on the server, which i can see on by logging in through a web interface.
However, retrieving new mail yields no messages, and a mysterious progress bar in the Mail activity window that says it's downloading "280 of 280 messages" which looks like this:
    http://localhostr.com/files/d2e3f0/odd.png
It comes up and then goes away within a second or to, but now messages come through.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion of using system preferences - could you please give me a little more information on how to do that?
I went into System preferences - network - advanced then clicked on the DNS tab where i saw 2 window (DNA and SEARCH DOMAINS). If i try to past the smpt in there (in the form smtpout.xxxxxxx.net) it simply pastes this: .eceee.e
If I try the same thing into the other window (SEARCH DOMAINS) it pastes just fine.

  • Right click a weblink in an email not working in Mavericks Mail

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I used to right-click a weblink in an email to 'add to reading list'.
This worked every time and it would add to the reading list, and I could later visit Safari and go from there.
Since the upgrade, when I click I don't get this, I have to hold down the control key to get the 'add to reading list' contextual menu, however this differs from email to email, sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.
Anybody else getting this and have a possible solution?
I don't have any weired contextual menu extensions or anything like that, and I've the latest version of Mavericks.

  • Email not making it outside my company

I've inherited Exchange, and I've been working on implementing a second Exchange server(2k7) and an IronPort C150. My plan is to move all the exchange users over to the new server and have the IronPort serve as the Anti-Virus/Anti-Spam. I don't have an "Edge Transport Server" configured, as I'm pretty sure the IronPort can do this. My question is how do I configure the IronPort to do this, then how to tell Exchange to look at the IronPort for this function? I've created a couple test accounts, and can send to them and reply from them internally just fine. When I send an email from one of them to outside the network, it never arrives.

    Additional Information:
I ran the Queue Viewer, and all 3 messages that I've sent are still in the queue. The Last Error says:
    400 4.4.7 Message Delayed
The body of one of the messages reads:
    Identity: Ex2007Server\5\20
    Subject: This is test2
    Internet Message ID:
    From Address: [email protected]
    Status: Ready
    Size (KB): 2
    Message Source Name: FromLocal
    Source IP: 255.255.255.255
    SCL: -1
    Date Received: 3/24/2009 11:01:34 AM
    Expiration Time: 3/26/2009 11:01:34 AM
Last Error: 400 4.4.7 Message delayed
    Queue ID: Ex2007Server\5
    Recipients: [email protected] [email protected]
A quick google on this and it leads me to believe that there is a problem between my new exchange server connecting to IronPort to access the outside world. I've looked through the suggested links, and everything seems to be configured properly, but being this is my first time implementing Exchange and anything IronPort, I could be overlooking something.

  • Meeting requests not making it from Mail to iCal

I haven't been able to have meeting requests automatically transfer over to iCal.
I have my Mail settings set to automatically send meeting invites to iCal, and most invitations come from people that are present in my address book.
I've been on hold with Apple Care for over an hour, and haven't had any luck other than being asked to check the settings above.

Email not opening on my iPad2 This is a sudden thing, email had been working fine since purchasing the device then today would not stay open,  now it will not open at all. After trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
