Log Message:
Fix SDK-14201: Performance: embedded images are written into the swf one byte at a time.
This changes the way swfs are written out when they contain embedded lossless images,
such as PNGs and GIFs. The old code had a loop to write a byte at a time; the new code
does a single biblt. The result is a modest compilation speedup, on the order of
several hundred milliseconds when compiling Flexstore.
(This already went into the trunk as revision 658.)

flex/sdk/branches/3.0.x/modules/swfutils/src/java/flash/swf/TagEncoder.javaHiya, Mike,
It's pretty tough to work through pasted-in code. If you can, please upload a page to a server, so we can see your pages in context. We'll be able to download it and look at it.
That said, you can do this: Find the beginning of an editable region in Code View. It will look like this:
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="nameofregionhere" -->
Click anywhere in that tag, between the opening bracket and the closing bracket.
Then, on the vertical toolbar on the left side of the Code window, click on the "Collapse Full Tag" button. It is the one with two arrows pointing at each other. This will collapse that entire editable region. Then click the button with the two arrows pointing away from each other. That will re-open the editable region, but will highlight it.
If you have nested regions, you will find the other inside one of the editable regions. If you copy the <!-- InstanceBeginEditable and do a search on it in that document, you will find the nested region.

flex/sdk/trunk/modules/swfutils/src/java/flash/swf/TagEncoder.javaThanks John,
I've downloaded the exif tool + the gui - I can see how it's meant to work and have successfully processed a single file (even when I got the name wrong it still copied exif time data!)
I'll investigate further on how to do a batch and use command line
Really appreciate your prompt response to my problem.
I will let you all know how I get on - will take quite a few weeks but I am confident I can get there!
Thanks Mike
A week later I've now got back into this. I used the exif gui tool - which was very simple to use once I sat down with peace and quiet for 10 mins! I successfully copied and updated the correct exif data including capture time from the original backup files. My metadata keywords remained untouched when I then updated the metadata setting from disk in lightroom.
exif is a great tool, and I found it easier to use than AM pro - I couldn't see the photo attributes in the trial download so made it hard to sort by date.
Anyway my problem was overcome thank you -
Embedded images are not presented in HTML files - only a text line
previous version of Firefox worked correctly. Checked version and 3.6.8 does not render images. Downloaded and installed 3.6.10 and same problem with not rendering images. Images are correctly rendered in Opera and in Explorer. Someone else has reported the problem and can see images in Netscape.

My placed images are coming in smaller than expected.
I'm working on a book that will be printed and would like to make sure I'm getting all my images correct and at the right resolution.
The images I want to place have a dimension of 1280 x 847 and a ppi of 300. I thought this would work fine.
But when I place the image in InDesign the dimensions are about 307x203. I noticed in document presets that the page info has a PPI of 72, so I'm guessing that's what is causing my images to come in smaller. With the images set at the dimensions and ppi that they are though, how can I get them to actually come in at their full dimensions instead of shrinking down? Or is there no way to do this and I need the original photos to be much larger? Obviously I can't take the 307x203 image and scale it up past 100%, so I need to figure out how to get that 1280x847 image in here.
(I'm working with A4 page size in landscape view, and want these images to be full bleed on some of the pages)Well I was using pixels to describe what the dimensions of the actual photo is, and I know that at 300 ppi in Indesign, when I place the photo the dimensions are then 307x203 by just looking at width and height in either points or pixels. If I try to scale it larger, obviously the effective ppi is lowered, and I don't want that to happen. (So I don't want to change the resolution to 72 in Photoshop either). It sounds like the only way to get the dimensions I need is to have an even larger image? Is there anything else I can do - I mean why would InDesign do this?

Firefox is not displaying PDFs correctly images are coming out really black?
Compare this web link in Firefox to any other browser and you will see the difference.
http://rbhsound.com/images/literature/lit_ctxseries.pdf
This image displays correctly in Internet Explorer.
Has something changed in Firefox recently, I have never had this problem before?
Working in Windows 7 with the latest version of MozillaIn Firefox, are you viewing your PDF in the built-in PDF viewer? You can check whether it makes any difference to use the Adobe Acrobat plugin. This article has the steps to switch between them: [[How to disable the built-in PDF viewer and use another viewer]].
(I just installed Firefox 30, so my results may not be relevant to Firefox 29, but the images look the same to me in the viewer and in the stand-alone Adobe Reader.) -
MIME emails not showing embedded images
Hello.
When I receive e-mails from a GroupWare solution (extra.groupcare.dk), embedded images are not shown in Mail 3.4. If I use Gmail or any version of Microsoft Outlook, even Mail 2.1 on Tiger it works fine.
The images are shown as mime-attachment-x, and can be viewed with quick look.
Here is an example of the original message.

Hope you can help!I tried to convert your base64 code and it seemed valid.
The situation you describe is normal to me, though, because I have unticked "Show external images in HTML-messages" in Mail's preferences to save bandwidth when I'm on a mobile connection or similar. Whenever i get one of thoses HTML-mails, e.g. from iTunes Store with a lot of missing images, there will be a blue field at the top of the mail window stating that "This messages contents unloaded images" (or whatever the English translation would be). Additionally, there's a "Download images"-button to get the the missing images.
I don't want to be unpolite, but could that be the case for you too? -
Embedded images does not appear from MS Word 2007
Hi,
I am a proud IPAD 2 User!
I had purchased PAGES from App store yesterday.
I have several MS word 2007 documents with tables and embedded images. When I try to MS Word documents via iTunes, I get the documents converted, but all the embedded images are lost. All the text and the tables exist. Appreciate if anyone can help on this...
ThanksI can't copy from Safari or Chrome and paste into Mail, BBEdit, Notes, Yahoo Messenger, etc. I did reset Safari, restarted, and removed Safari extensions. Doesn't help you, but am having a similar problem.

Images are not reflecting in Multi Level Menu
Hi,
i am facing some problem in the Multi Level Menu.
i have created a book in my portal application.
For the "Main Page Book" i am setting "Multi Level Menu"
For the Book with in the menu, i am setting "No Navigation"(to avoid the sub pages displaying when clicking the book)
for example the Book name is "Home".
i want to replace the Home with some images.
using "selected image" i have placed some .gif
when i have checked at run time that image is not reflected.
when i keep the menu as "Single level menu" images are coming. (but drop down is not coming)
the problem is when i put the menu as "multi level menu" the images are not reflected.
pls help me to solve this issue.
regards.Hi,
we've got the same issue in the project I'm working on. We told thos to BEA and they said that this is not coded. So 2 BEA's consultants are working on it for us. May be it will be included in the next version of WLP...

Imported RAW images are too dark
I'm using Aperture2.0.1 and importing RAW images from a Canon 1D MkIII. All the images are coming in significantly darker than they show in the camera's display. The camera's histogram shows that the images are correctly exposed but they require boosting in Aperture's Exposure panel of anywhere from + 1.15 to 1.5 before they look right in Aperture. That's quite a hefty shift. I get a similar situation in Capture One Pro but the same images right off the card look bang on in Canon's Digital Photo Professional. In Adobe Lightroom it takes a shift of only +.5 to get into the right range. The exposure settings for the test were done with a Sekonic L-758DR meter and manually setting 3 580EX's but the problem shows up in all kinds of garden variety shots with or without flash. My preferred app is Aperture but I'm sick of having to adjust all my shots to get them into range.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Thanks,
GeoffAMAZING!! Thanks for solving this mystery for me. Disabled the Highlight Priority and the shot comes into aperture looking like I it needs no adjustment. There are some clipped peaks in the histogram so there are some minor blown highlights. If I use Highlight Priority, it prevents the clipping and when I adjust the exposure level in Aperture the shot does look right without losing the highlight so Highlight Priority may be the right way to go when I'm shooting jewelry. But your post explains why the images were darkened.
Thanks again,
Geoff -

How do I get CC to open these files correctly? Is the client saving them incorrectly?
My work around has now become a pain & I need to know why Illustrator CC tells me most/all embedded images are missing in files received by clients.
Illustrator 5.1 opens the files ok & gives me no errors. It does a few funky things because ti says the file was produced with a new version. The file previews fine in the Finder window & shows all images. The issue with opening them in 5.1 is it wants to open 1 page at a time like the AI file is a PDF.
Why is CC failing to recognize the embedded images? Are the images not embedded correctly by the client? Is 5.1 pulling from some lower res version of the images? Files export from 5.1 as hires. Stumped.
Oh my gosh why arent they just using InDesign. : (Please get informed about how Illustrator saves files and what exactly is in a file and how it is re-opened.
See: http://rwillustrator.blogspot.de/2006/11/whats-in-file.html
When in Illustrator CS5, Illustrator actually opens the PDF part of the file that contains all the images. Always.
When in Illustrator CC, Illustrator accesses the AI part of the file, which doesn't necessarily contain the images. -
I have Windows 7, Microsoft Outlook and PSE 13. I have used the "Share photos as embedded images" feature frequently, but today when I went to use it, it wasn't there, only the option to send email with files attached. How do I get back the ability to send emails with photos embedded. I like adding the frames and backgrounds and I think it's easier for recipients to look at the photos. Thanks for any suggestions of things to try.
GailI had a similar problem in that my wife's iphone 5 could not send pics with imessage. Had to set the settings to default to SMS or whatever. After laboring many hours on the web I coincidentally was on the phone with the internet people to question my internet speed. They changed the router channel, which is something that I am capable of doing myself. After that, the pics go over imessage. My own Iphone didn't have the problem. We are both latest IOS 7.0.6.

Image Attachment instead of embedded image (for sending photos)
Hi,
Is there a way to make mail send photos as an attachment rather than as an embedded image in the email? My colleagues are using Lotus Notes at work. Everytime I send them photos, they complain to me that they are having a hard time downloading the pictures 'coz they cannot simply click on it and save.
thanks,
zurczurc,
I sent mail in text-only format and put attachments at the very end of the message. I think photos and images are shown inline when send in a message in formatted-text format.
Putting the files at the very end of the message prevents the mail being "split up" in several parts (body, photo attachment, and signature as attachment) which is also annoying for Windows users.
I have to admit that I don't know if this works with Lotus Notes, but you could give it a try. -
How to request - Updating an embedded image in a PDF using Actions but not all actions are recorded
i am trying to create an Action in CS3 but some of my actions are not been recorded.
What i want to do is run the Batch option on a folder with a 1,000 PDFs in it. The PDFs
(which were created in Illustrator CS3) consist of a single page with a single embedded
image at the foot of the page. I am trying to update that embedded image.
The Actions i am trying to record are...
1) Select the single image in the Links palette.
2) Choose the "Relink.." option in the drop down menu of the Links palette.
3) Navigate to the new image and select "Place".
4) Save and close document.
But the first two actions are not been recorded.
How do i get around this problem ?
Note: From trying this manually the new image seems to take on the horizontal and
vertical scaling of the previous image which is what i want. But if i am going to have to
do a script then that is a factor that may have to be incorporated into the script.
Any help appreciated.Give this a trial… It does a save as which is much safer than overwriting… At least you still have your originals should I get something wrong…? I did test but only with 3 files…

Drag an image to the desktop saves as a bmp file
dragging an image from a webpage to Windows Explorer or compliant program (xplorer2 or Zoner, or FastStone Image or desktop etc) saves as a .bmp file (mostly!). Invariably *.bmp files are large files and since the original format would be jpg or png
