If the servers are properly sized whether it is advisable to do installation of MYSAP 6.0,PI,MI,BI,CRM on nw 7.0 in a single server with different SID's

Hi Ram,
If the servers are properly sized, then the installations will work. Whether or not it is advisable is up to you. One of the biggest things to keep in mind are that operations that affect the server then affect all of the applications running on the server. For example, if the server needs to be restarted then all of the applications must be shut down; f the OS needs a patch, then all applications must support the patch before it may be applied; etc.

Multiple tries but only failure - have tried both the automatic update and also the standalone installer. Zero sucess. Since I have CS5 Master Collection hate to wate the better part of the day doing a clean re-install. Here is my most recent update log file.

As an update to my previous post about the installation failure. I chatted with Adobe Customer Service but they were unable to help and told me to call tech support - last time I did that I was unable to resolve the problem after spending about 2 hours on the phone and they are only open during the week.
I solved the problem by:
1) Deactiviating CS5 Master Collection on my computer
2) Uninstalling the software from the control panel (I did not remove the serial number as I was planning on re-installing.
3) Downloading and running the Adobe CS5 Cleanup tool.
4) Reinstalling CS5 MC.
5) Downloading and installing all of the updates to bring the install up to date.
I am glad it is working as it should but really had better things to do with the 4-5 hours this took to do. Would be nice to have a tool to fix these types of problem without having to go thru the above especially considering the price the software costs...

Embedded installation of Provider

Hi,
We are an ISV and are currently planning on deploying VB applications using Oracle 9i OLE DB provider. I would like to integrate the installation of the OLE DB provider on a client's machine via the same installation (Installshield) as the VB application. Is there a way to strip out the Oracle Universal Installer piece and still get a fully functional OLE DB provider on the client PC? And if so, what are the steps in doing so?
Has anyone tried this? Please advise.

Perhaps HP has the wrong graphics driver pegged to the support page for your notebook.
I doubt I will be able to help you with this problem.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try other Intel HD graphics drivers from other business notebooks such as the Elitebook 850 G1.

Not possible to run CodedUI tests on Windows 7 embedded

Hi all,
I am trying to get my CodedUI tests running on the target machine with Windows 7 Embedded.
For that, I installed on the target machine:
Visual Studio 2010 Test Agent
VS2010 SP1
Next I try to run the CodedUI test from the command line using mstest.exe (since no Visual Studio may be installed on target
machine). However, before even executing the first line of code in my test, mstest fails after showing a popup window with following message:
"the ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll"
When looking in the detailed logs of QTAgent32.exe I see a 'System.BadImageFormatException' thrown by the PluginManager of CodedUI when trying to
start an Internet Explorer plugin. See detailed stacktrace below this message.
This might be caused by the fact that this Windows Embedded installation does not contain Internet Explorer (for security reasons). The CodedUI test
and application under test however do not need Internet Explorer at all, the application is a WPF application.
So, my questions:
- Does anyone know how to get rid of this error without installing Internet Explorer?
- Any ways to prevent MsTest.exe to start the IE extension for a CodedUI test?
Some things I tried already but did not bring success:
- Run a completely empty CodedUI test; it triggers the same error.
- Remove IE extensions from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VSTT\10.0
- Remove unneeded things (datacollectors) from MsTestSettings file.
Any help/ideas appreciated!

I think it is a good feedback for this issue, but as far I know, it is by design now, we need to use the IE extension for test projects. My understanding is that it would find the accordant UI Test Controls with your app UI controls, so it would search all
test controls include the IE controls, and then use one real UITestControl to instantiate an object which is equal to the real UI control, so we could playback the recorded action.

How to rollback the oracle silent installation

Hello Guys!
i have one simple question related to the Oracle silent installation.
I implemented embedded installation of Oracle in silent mode for my product.
But i want to implement the rollback feature, i mean it should be possible to interrupt silent installation of Oracle s\w and it should be implemented in correct way. All installed files services should be removed, cleared all registry keys, cleared the inventory information etc.
So if someone knows anything how to perform this functionality it will be great help for me. I see only two ways:
1. To write something into the input stream of the process, like "stop", "cancel" ...
Maybe it is funny idea
2. The second way to perform termination of process and clear all information in scripts, but this is waste of time and may cause some addional errors at execution.
3. So if you can help me thanks in advance

Oracle 9i Release 2 silent installation

Has anyone tested Oracle 9i Release 2 silent installation ?
I'm using the "Oracle Embedded Installation Resource Kit" to setup a silent installation, but I can't move even a step further. I'm starting the installation by activating the command file runSilentInstall.cmd , but happens simply nothing ???!!! Only the response file is being created in the TEMP directory, and nothing more.
In the resource kit stays that it has been tested with "9.0.1 Enterprise Edition
and Standard Edition on Windows (NT/Win2K) and the Solaris platform. However, the
resource kit should be able to install Oracle9i 9.x on any platform."

I've just found out, that if I use setup.exe from the Oracle installation CDs (Disk1\install\win32\setup.exe) then the installation starts (and goes on) well. But if I use the setup.exe copied in my stage directory (from where I start the installation) it doesn't.
It's the one and same file in both places.

Embedded BI in 2004s ECC 6.0

Dear BI/ECC 6.0 practitioners,
Is there a specific statement from SAP or paper out there regarding the embedded BI in ECC 6.0 ? I read note 855534 and it seems that SAP does not recommend separating BI from ECC 6.0.
This is very apparent, as one cannot order the BI CDs separately and BI. Once ECC 6.0 has been installed, BI is installed and you should have BI on a separate client.
What I am looking for is a clear document from SAP on this. We have some non-SAP-technical people here who holds the purse strings who cannot believe that this is the way it should be and SAP "would do such a thing", as some additional investments in hardware and infra. is required to maintain ECC+BI on one database.
Does anyone has any specific info., experienced this situation ? Any asssistance is greatly appreciated.

SAP deals this scenario on project to Project case basis ,while there are few advantages of it ,only select customers have enabled this option.If needed you need to talk to SAP abt this and answer with few questionaires with.
The installation of SAP NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI, EP, MI, and/or DI together with SAP ECC in the same system instance (the same SID) is TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE but the following restrictions apply:
The installation of SAP NetWeaver MI (mobile infrastructure) in the same system instance (the same SID) with SAP ECC or any other NetWeaver component/usage type is currently not supported. Further is such an installation in view of a possible future upgrade not recommended.
The installation of SAP NetWeaver DI (development infrastructure) in the same system instance (the same SID) with SAP ECC or any other NetWeaver component/usage type is not recommended.
For the embedded installation of ECC and NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI and EP the following points need to be considered:
If one of the components imposes specific requirements to the installation (e.g. XI: Unicode installation, double stack installation etc.) this always applies to the whole instance.
In an embedded installation, a common client for SAP BW and SAP ECC is not supported. SAP XI/PI must also be set up in a dedicated client.
Inform yourself about the supported platforms for each component/usage type you wish to install. Some components may feature platform restrictions. For more information, refer to SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/platforms for support information of a common database and operating system platform.
For each component/usage type involved in the system stack a separate sizing is required using the respective sizing procedure. The total size of a server which can accommodate all components/usage types is the sum of the individual sizing results This applies to:
CPU sizing (SAPS)
Memory sizing
Disk space sizing

This may not be the solution but for the benefit of those dealing with this error, the errors you reported can be seen when Oracle Universal Installer is run from a UNC path, i.e. \\server\sharename
If you are installing from a network, try mapping a drive and use that drive mapping to run Installer.

Installing Windows t Embedded 7 onto SD Card / Performance

Hello,
I am currently testing a Windows 7 Embedded installation using the IBW 64bit toolkit onto a 16GB high speed SD card in a Dell Poweredge R520 server.
The installation process goes through fine after enabling SD Boot and the enhanced write filter options.
My question is around performance and process, and if I am doing the right thing to speed up the process as eventually I will take a golden image of this and want to deploy via WDS. A slow down in performance is to be expected I guess, the SD card supports
100MB/s read and 65MB/s write speeds.
I've read about building the image on a external USB disk first then transferring to the SD card after, has anyone done this and can verify? Am I following the best process and using the best SD cards for this type of environment?

You could use ICE to create a custom IBW disk, cut down the features, and automate the build process. This custom IBW disk can be installed via USB. It is good to see SD card boots, but other media like SSD SATA drive would be faster in performance.

BI installation as a part of Netweaver

It seems as we move into the Netweaver era, there is a requirement to have BI installed for certain business scenarios for reporting and analytical work....even if a data warehouse requirement does not exist. For example, in the old days, a company would install R/3 and put off BW for 2 year down the road, or may even say no to BW. Now it seems that BI becomes more and more a mandatory requirement from the initial install of ECC.
I have been wondering about this! In such as case, is it possible that the BI engine is required, but not a full blown BI (aka BW) installation? Then does it make sense to include the BI installation with other SAP components, for example ECC and BI on the same SAP system / Database?
Have you seen or heard of such an implementation? This I imagine would be of interest to smaller companies!

Embedded install of 9.2.0.4

Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum.
We're shipping a product that is available on Windows and Solaris. We need to use Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Solaris as it fixes some memory leak bugs. As our product has a multi-component architecture and can be spread across machines / OSes, we'd like to use the same Oracle version on both Windows and Solaris.
I've downloaded the 9.2.0.4 patch and the 2.1 Oracle Embedded Installer which can be used to install 9.2.0.4
As I'm doing an embedded installer, how can I install 9.2.0.4? Do I have to install 9.2.0.1 and then apply the patch? That seems a bit messy. Will I also be able to install from a single CD? 9.2.0.1 requires 3 CDs.

Setting the variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL doesn’t helps anyway.Question is when and where was LD_ASSUME_KERNEL set?
LD_ASSUME_KERNEL should be set (ba oracle user) in terminal (shell) and before execution of runInstaller script. Did you that way?

Sharepoint services 3.0 on 2008 R2

Looking at the docs I
don't see anywhere where it says I need MSSQL installed to do a stand alone install, but after finishing the setup I get this error:
I found this blog post which states: "By Default Network Service account is the Startup service account for SQL Embeded Edition but Network service Account does not have permission in SQL Embeded installation location(C:\windows\SYSMI) and .Net Framework
2.0 location."
But it is for an older version of sharepoint (as 3.0 uses .net 3.0). Is this still a solution for this?

As far as I known, neither Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 can run on Windows Server 2012. Please note SharePoint 2010 SP2 and SharePoint 2013 support for Windows Server 2012.

So is there any low cost or free solution as in WSS 3.0 equivalent in Windows Server 2012 ?
I wonder if the Sharepoint Service 2010 on Windows Server 2012 is the same as WSS 3.0 in Windows Server 2003.

When I start up my launchpad and get logged in I get an error message in SAP Netweaver Gateway: Error log
When I click on an App I get the error "Could not start the app due to an internal error"

OutOfMemoryError in UIX/BC4J Application

Hi there,
in have an application that runs fine in JDevelopers embedded OC4J and on IAS running on Linux.
When deployed to an IAS running in HP-UX it simply seems not to start, but if found in the application.log, that an OutOfMemoryError occurred.
What possible issues for HP-UX are known, that could cause this?
How can I track down the point, at which the error occurs exactly?

Sven -- are there other applications running / deployed to the OC4J instance -- these may be contributing to consumption of a bit more memory. Offhand I don't have a figure, but the OC4J in 9iAS has a few additional class libraries installed as system libs, so it likely uses more memory than the OC4J standalone or JDev embedded installs.
What you can try doing is bumping up the heapsize of the OC4J instance you are using. This can be done using OEM and setting the Java Properties field of the instance to contain
-Xmx256m ....
where 256m indicates the the JVM has a max heap space allocation of 256m.

BI and ECC in same SID concept is totally new.SAP deals this scenario on project to Project case basis ,while there are few advantages of it ,only select customers have enabled this option.Please check with SAP abt this and answer with few questionaires with.
The installation of SAP NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI, EP, MI, and/or DI together with SAP ECC in the same system instance (the same SID) is TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE but the following restrictions apply:
The installation of SAP NetWeaver MI (mobile infrastructure) in the same system instance (the same SID) with SAP ECC or any other NetWeaver component/usage type is currently not supported. Further is such an installation in view of a possible future upgrade not recommended.
The installation of SAP NetWeaver DI (development infrastructure) in the same system instance (the same SID) with SAP ECC or any other NetWeaver component/usage type is not recommended.
For the embedded installation of ECC and NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI and EP the following points need to be considered:
If one of the components imposes specific requirements to the installation (e.g. XI: Unicode installation, double stack installation etc.) this always applies to the whole instance.In an embedded installation, a common client for SAP BW and SAP ECC is not supported. SAP XI/PI must also be set up in a dedicated client.
Inform yourself about the supported platforms for each component/usage type you wish to install. Some components may feature platform restrictions. For more information, refer to SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/platforms for support information of a common database and operating system platform.
For each component/usage type involved in the system stack a separate sizing is required using the respective sizing procedure. The total size of a server which can accommodate all components/usage types is the sum of the individual sizing results This applies to:
CPU sizing (SAPS)
Memory sizing
Disk space sizing
Note 855534 - Embedded NetWeaver Components in ERP addresses this issue.
Note: 775568 - Two and more BW systems against one OLTP system.
