Embedded swf video is cropped off

I'm embedding a video from smugmug. When I post it on another site (not iWeb generated) it posts okay. But with iWeb the video is cropped off on the right. I was told that the "holding area" width needs to be changed, but I don't know how to do that. I'm assuming that is referring to the Web Widget dimensions, but it gets sized according to the size of the embedded video. Here is the source code:
<object width="425" height="318"><param name="movie" value="http://www.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008050901.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9MzI5MzIwNzM1Jms9dWltcXomYT00MDA2MjQwXzhoSnlOJnU9dXBkZWZvcnVt" /><embed src="http://www.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008050901.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9MzI5MzIwNzM1Jms9dWltcXomYT00MDA2MjQwXzhoSnlOJnU9dXBkZWZvcn Vt" width="425" height="318" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object>
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

According to the source of the page the width is 350 and the height is 400.
<div class="com-apple-iweb-widget-HTMLRegion" id="widget1" style="height: 400px; left: 175px; position: absolute; top: 14px; width: 350px; z-index: 1; ">
<iframe id="widget1-frame" src=".//Homefiles/widget1markup.html" frameborder="0" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
</div>
I suggest you delete the widget and add a new one. Paste the code of your flash movie and click Done.
iWeb will create a box the size of the movie.

  • Embedded SWF video = slow loading page?

    Hello and good morning,
    I have recently created a website on DreamWeaver 8 with three
    SWF videos (not FLV but SWF) embedded on it. The videos are
    supposed to be set at "progressive download" but the page takes
    ages to load up, as if the browser was loading up the videos as it
    loads up the page itself.
    Any ideas? Thank you!

    Thanks, Hans
    I should have noted in my first post that this was through Firefox... But regarding  IE 8  (im using Windows 7 on my PC) it's slow from the very start and will sometimes skip, stutter and even completely stop half way through.
    The original animation test should be much quicker.. about 4 seconds.
    Im wondering if anyone else can verify this on their browser?

  • Removing Flash Margins in Embedded SWF video

    We have embedded a SWF video on an html page and there are
    blank margins on the left and right side of the image, video. We
    used this code to embed the video. <object width="497"
    height="397">
    <param name="movie"
    value="Final_ani_Transportation.swf">
    <embed src="Final_ani_Transportation.swf" width="497"
    height="397"></embed>
    </object>
    Thanks

    Just curious...is the code you posted used to constrain the
    SWF to its proper size?
    <object width="497" height="397">
    <param name="movie"
    value="Final_ani_Transportation.swf">
    <embed src="Final_ani_Transportation.swf" width="497"

  • IE7 and Multiple Embedded SWF Videos Not Working

    We have a page that contains 2 videos that are streamed from our media hosting company.  The code is fairly straightforward,
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://xxx.xxx.xxx/your.swf" width="400" height="300">
    <param name="movie" value=http://xxx.xxx.xxx/your.swf"" />
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
    <param name="flashvars" value="streamer=rtmp://zzz.zzz.zzz/zzz.flv&autoplay=false" />
    </object>
    Similar code is used for the second video. The embed code is actually generated from the hosting company and has worked every time. Firefox and Chrome display both videos with no problem. However, IE7 only displays the second video. The first video just has white space where the video should be.
    I have used 'embed' tag and conditional object tags (for IE), rewritten the code from scratch, changed the z-index, used Flash to generate code, cleared the cache - all to no avail. Is IE7 incapable of having multiple SWF files on the same page?
    **I did notice that changing the autoplay attribute to true will allow for the video to display, however, the playback controls are not available.
    Any ideas on how to get this working in IE7?
    Thanks in advance

    Another me too. In particular the symptoms are this:
    + any YouTube video embedded within a webpage loads the poster frame and the controls, but after clicking the play button only shows the progress indicator briefly before showing "An error occurred, please try again later." within the video frame.
    + the same YouTube videos play fine on the YouTube site.
    + other Internet video plays fine, embedded or not.
    + when the error occurs Safari reports "One error in opening the page. For more information, choose Window > Activity".
    + the Activity window shows "forbidden" for http://v13.lscache4.c.youtube.com/videoplayback?ip=0.0.0.0&sparams=id%2Cexpire%2 Cip%2Cipbits%2Citag%2Calgorithm%2Cburst%2Cfactor%2Coc%3AU0dWSVhMVV9FSkNNNl9QRllH &fexp=900028&algorithm=throttle-factor&itag=34&ipbits=0&burst=40&sver=3&expire=1 274817600&key=yt1&signature=C15947474FA80C9A1B9DA597103C5FF7D621A478.0C1490DE456 5D519F602B0043A4E1F9D800417A0&factor=1.25&id=c3e8886e8b459334
    + the same URL downloads fine when visiting YouTube directly, except the signature value is different.
    I have tested the following:
    + the same computer worked fine a week or so ago
    + other computers on the same shared ADSL connection work fine
    + Firefox works fine (contrary to other's experiences)
    + deleting com.apple.Safari.plist doesn't help
    + disabling/enabling the "Enable Plug-ins" preference doesn't help
    + deleting Preferences/Macromedia folder doesn't help
    + reinstalling Flash doesn't help
    + empty cache doesn't help
    Tis quite perplexing.

  • EMBEDED SWF VIDEO CANT STOP AUDIO

    Ok. So I am using a flash template that I have altered quite
    a lot. It has video thumbnails with a preloader at the beginning.
    The preloader at the beginning was slow though so I wanted to put
    my general demo reel so it would play while it was loading but stop
    when the site was loaded (that way people could have something to
    look at). I have it so it hides ok. However, it continues to play
    the rest of the videos audio. I need this to stop, but I have tried
    just about everything. I know it is probably something stupid I am
    doing, but if someone could give me a hand I would appreciate it. I
    am half bald at the moment!
    My Website
    Here is the Action Script (3.0) I have for the site (without
    any attempts to shut off the audio since I can't seem to do it
    right anyways). Anyways the video is embedded in cover_mc.

    Try this  SoundMixer.stopAll(); on load complete.

  • Video playback in embedded swf

    Hi,
    I'm building a website in flash catalyst that uses an embedded swf also created in catalyst.  The site is for a musician, and one of the pages (states) loads a swf file that contains a list of videos the user can select and play.  That swf was also made in catalyst.  This works.
    When I navigate away from the video page to the Bio page (for instance), the video stops playing, which is good.  The problem though, is when I return to the video page, the video resumes right where it was when I left the page.  This is a bit jarring... I'd really like the video to stop playing for real when the user navigates away, so that when he/she returns to the page, its in the default state... With nothing playing.
    Can anyone help?  I'm stuck here.
    Thanks!
    Craig

    you need to make your own controls and you need to learn some
    basic actionscript: controlling playhead movement along a timeline
    is about as basic as it gets. check the movieclip gotoAndPlay(),
    gotoAndStop() methods.

    Hi,
    How are you playing the video in swf ? Are you using video object , flv playback or any other component?
    Thanks,

  • Can't play the embedded mp4 video in SWF

    Hi, I am creating a basic webpage for the first time. I have successfully inserted a SWF flash player in Dreamweaver, however I am unable to play a mp4 video that is embedded in my swf flashplayer within Dreamweaver web page.
    Message was edited by: Madalsa Tested and previewed the exported SWF on stand alone basis, there I am able to play the embedded mp4 video.  Any ideas will be appreciated.

    I don't mean to impose or anything, but I'm in dire need of help. I've been trying to understand your directions, but to no avail.
    I'm trying to get my embedded .mp4 video to play in my .sfw video on my webpage...  I know that  you said that firefox won't play .mp4 vidoes, and recommend converting it into a ogg.
    The thing confusing me is that... I'm not sure which file I should be converting here... Infact I did convert the .mp4 into a ogg well actually it's a .ogv(confused here also), but am i suppose to convert the .sfw file as well? And how would I setup it up in your first example(i ask this question again below)
    The .mp4 file was 20131122_123440.mp4 , now it's 20131122_123440.ogv and the .swf file is secondtime.swf
    This is the coding I have below set up for my website:
    <!doctype html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    </head>
    <body  bgcolor="blue">
    <table width="1001" height="420" align="center">
    <tr>
    <td></br>
    <p align="center">
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" name="0" width=1000 height=420 align="middle" id=0>
    <param name="movie" value="secondtime.swf" />
    <param name="menu" value="false" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" />
    <embed src="secondtime.swf" menu="false" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width=1000 height=420 name="0" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
    </object>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now if I was to simply to put it in this example below:
    <video controls>
      <source src="foo.mp4" type="video/mp4">
      <source src="foo.ogg" type="video/ogg">
      Your browser does not support the <code>video</code> element.
    </video>
    How would I be able to get it to work?
    Also, I've read that it could be a pathing issue as well.... Because when I run the video as a test from my computer into firefox it plays the flvplayback (which was the .mp4, and maybe I should of mentioned this in the beginning?), and it works fine.. I placed the .html and the .sfw and the .mp4 in the same folder to try to get it to work, but it doesn't work online, and  I noticed that once I put the .mp4 back on my desktop it plays the video fine in the test run fine... Maybe I should put the .ogv file into the folder instead? I don't even know how that would work.
    Thank you for taking your time out to read this, I really apprecaite it!!! Sorry for the lack of understanding as well!

  • Embedding a SWF Video in an AIR 2 HTML App

    I've been through the forums for awhile and I can verify that my issue doesn't have to do with transparency or chrome.  I have an IFRAME which is in the application sandbox, giving it access to files in app-storage.  Dynamic images are loading fine, but my dynamically generated <OBJECT> code that is placed in the DOM is not loading the SWF video.  I can see the object placeholder, but no video.
    Are there any requirements to embedding a SWF file, perhaps size requirements (both height and width required)?  Given the fact that my content is dynamic and I don't know the dimensions of the SWF file, I currently have two options for embedding:
    1. Calculate the height and width of the parent element, and assign those values to the OBJECT params.
    2. Use 100% width and height on the OBJECT
    This might pose problems with the proportions of the SWF file, which I'm hoping can be fixed by the scale PARAM (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/127/tn_12701.html).
    Please help, I haven't been able to find any similar problems.  I followed the documentation for embedding from here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/devappshtml/WS4B441C24-BAE3-4110-91FD-A4E5EEFB2467.htm l

    Is this happening for any swf file, or is this an issue related to video?

  • How do i rotate a video without clipping off parts of it?

    Can someone tell me how to do this?  I know how to rotate from the help forums:
    Rotate a clip
    Select the clip in the Timeline.
    In the Effects view, click the Edit Effects button.
    Expand the Motion effect in the Properties view, and do one of the following:Drag the underlined value to the right of Rotation.
    Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right to rotate the clip 90° in either direction.
    But when i do this, it chops off the top and bottom portions of my video.  I instructed it to leave video aspect ratio, but it wont do so.  It still chops off the top and bottom.
    Any suggestions?  If it helps, its a .avi movie as recorded from a digital camera.
    BTW, my free Google Picasa did this in seconds with no aspet ration change with 1 button.....just sayin'

    Matthew,
    Actually, it did keep the Aspect Ratio, as it is defined, but instead of a horizontal Aspect Ratio of say 4:3, you now have a vertical Aspect Ratio of 4:3. If it kept the horizontal, your image would be squashed in one dimension and then stretched in the other - not what you would likely want.
    What you need to do is now treat your vertical image. In most cases, I find it preferable to use the fixed Effect>Motion>Scale, and then effectively crop off parts of the top, or the bottom, or both. This has the disadvantage of having to Scale the image up, and it will begin to degrade in quality, so keep a close eye out for that.
    Depending on a few factors, one can use certain artistic treatments to use the vertical image in your horizontal Frame: one could use it as a PiP (Picture in Picture), one could create a background, and just use Motion>Scale to drop the vertical dimension to match the vertical dimension of the Frame, letting the background show on probably both sides. Some videographers will shoot two shots with the camera 90 degrees out of orientation, i.e. on its side, when they want a "split-screen," i.e. PiP with two, side-by-side images, and just Rotate both Clips, and align them in the horizontal frame.
    Now, what was your purpose for shooting with the camera on its side? What effect were you trying to obtain?
    If this was a mounting issue, such as the camera had to be mounted on its side to get it where it was needed, then the trick is to frame less tightly, knowing that you will be effectively cropping off some of the image, when you Rotate.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Turning the page in a pdf from inside a swf video

    I am creating interactive PDFs from InDesign. On the first page of the pdf I have a swf video in which I would like to put a link or a button that would move you to page 2 of the pdf. Not another frame of the video or URL, but just the next page of the PDF. Is it possible to do this? And if so, how?

    You don't make it clear what you're using. A "SWF" is a Flash file, and a video is a video. A SWF can load and play a video, but "SWF video" means nothing.
    If you're talking about a SWF file created in Flash, then inside your SWF you will have to fire an ExternalInterface command using ActionScript:
    ExternalInterface.call(“eval”, “pageNum++”);
    If you're talking about a video file embedded in the PDF and using the default playback widget, then you can't do it.

  • Need Help with SWF Video Files

    Hello there. I'm experiencing a new problem with Presenter.
    I'm using WinXP, PowerPoint 2002 SP3, and the latest version of
    Presenter. I have a presentation that contains many video clips.
    I've converted them all to SWF files and have inserted them on each
    slide via the Slide Properties dialog box, and inserted
    corresponding "silences". However, when I publish my presentation
    locally, instead of showing the SWF video in the top right corner
    of the screen as it is supposed to do, I get a mirror image of the
    current slide on that small upper right window. It is like the
    presentation is embedding a copy of the slide where the video is
    supposed to be. This never used to happen, so I'm baffled. Any
    thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    You probably will be able to play most of those problem files by using this freeware: VLC
    If you want more information you would likely get more responses by posting in the Quicktime for MacOS forum:

  • What HTML code do I need to get Adobe Flash to play an embedded MP4 video file (8 MB)?

    What HTML code do I need to get Adobe Flash to play an embedded MP4 video file (8 MB)?
    Thanks
    Mark

    Here are a couple of ways, one using the Netstream class and the other using the FLVPlayback component.
    For the NetStream approach, the following in the timeline code will play/loop the intended mp4 file...
         var video:Video;
         var connect_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
         connect_nc.connect(null);
         var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connect_nc);
         stream_ns.client = this;
         function netStatusHandler(p_evt:NetStatusEvent):void {
             if (p_evt.info.code == "NetStream.Play.Stop") {
                 stream_ns.seek(0); // to loop the video
         stream_ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
         video = new Video();
         addChild(video);
         video.attachNetStream(stream_ns);
         stream_ns.play("path_to/your.mp4");
    For the FLVPlayback component, add it to the stage, give it an instance name ("fp" used below), assign your mp4 file ("path_to/your.mp4") as the source property in the Properties panel, and select the option to autoplay as well.  Place the following code in the timeline...
         fp.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, playAgain);
         function playAgain(evt:Event):void {
             fp.play();
    To put the Flash swf file in an html page, in the Publish Settings set it to publish an swf and an html page.  Publish the file an the html page will be created for you.

    Try plugging it into a computer with iTunes opened. If you see anything that says restore, say no.
    Sometimes these issues resolve themselves when you connect the device to iTunes.
    What happens when you hold the home and sleep/wake button? I know it doesn't work, but does it shut off at all?

  • How to control SWF Video using JavaScript?

    Hi,
    I'm developing a web page which will use Flash Videos. I need
    to control the video without using a typical skin. The current tool
    I'm using to convert my wmv to SWF FLV is Coffee Cup. A hex edit
    suggests this is a Version 8 SWF.
    I am trying to write some javascript to control which Frame
    is displayed. I have seen code such as movie.TGotoFrame(...); and
    movie.GotoFrame, movie.StopPlay() etc. Unfortunately I cannot seem
    to use these methods. Eventually I suspected that my SWF simply did
    not make these methods available and when I run my video in my web
    page a RightClick shows a Context Menu that has no Reverse,
    Forward, Back options. Other SWF videos do have these options
    (obviously). This seems to prove that nothing I could code would
    make the GotoFrame work (ie no Forward (by one frame) option in
    menu suggests it could never work from javascript).
    Some Questions
    Is there a tool to examine a SWF to see what methods are
    available to javascript control? (expose the API) and is there a
    setting required in the <object> setup to enable javascript
    interaction?
    Is there something about SWF V8 files that is the problem or
    is likely that the CoffeeCup Web Video Player can only make
    partially functioning SWF Videos?
    What is the difference between GotoFrame and TGotoFrame and
    have these perhaps been superceeded by something else (there is an
    Adobe page which suggests they are only available up to Version 5
    (not sure if that means Version 5 of SWF files or Version 5 of the
    FlashPlayer - to add to my confusion).
    I'm not currently a Flash type developer and have no tools to
    speak off and don't know ActionScript. I'm thinking of heading in
    the Flash direction but not sure how to move forward.
    Cheers
    Stuart

    Thanks Alex,
    quote:
    You need to learn to move forward :)
    I have a Greek friend who when I asked him how he was getting
    on with his dissertation project stated "in Greece we have a saying
    - every start is different".
    In this case my start is to dip a toe in the Flash water and
    not get scalded.
    Anyhow,
    One clarification from the CoffeeCup forum helped me to
    understand that my SWF used an external FLV and that may explain
    why the rightclick context menu did not have the more movie
    specific Back, Forward etc. Sounds plausible. So assume external
    FLV.
    quote:
    it is very easy to add a small script into the root timeline
    of your SWF file
    A little hand holding here would be appreciated. I have
    downloaded the Flex SDK. Can I use this free tool to do what you
    suggest? Using MXML and ActionScript. If so, a little bit more info
    would help.
    quote:
    That's all, it should work. Of course, you can tell me that
    your movie
    already has an onEnterFrame() eventhandler at the root
    timeline.
    What's a problem? Just create an empty movieclip and add this
    script
    into its frame 1 (it maybe the only frame). But do not forget
    to
    change "this.xxxx" to "_root.xxxx" within such script.
    Hhhmmm. A bit stumped. I've had a look at the SWF using
    FlashDig. I noticed what appears to be Assembly Language (Push,
    Pops, Jumps etc) and presumably in amongst all of that may be an
    onEnterFrame. Perhaps linked to a DefineFunction2 node.
    Unfortunately the SWF is very large (60K) and there is no
    search/find tool so that makes finding functions a bit harder than
    expected. Struggling a little with the concept of _root and Level0
    etc.
    I assume you are suggesting manually building a replacement
    SWF (empty movieclip?) if the onEventHandler happens to be used for
    something else. Presumably set/getVariables only interacts with
    this function so if it is 'booked' in my SWF I would be in a spot
    of bother with your suggested approach?
    I wonder if you are assuming I have some sort of Flash tool.
    Possibly like this one shown in this tutorial
    WebWasp
    Panorama tutorial
    Note. The panorama is actually close to what I eventually
    want to do except I intend to make a video of a scene by rotating
    clockwise by 360 degrees. Then add buttons onto the SWF (or DHTML)
    which communicates with the SWF to move forward or back through the
    video. Moving forward would be like a clockwise rotation and moving
    back would create anticlockwise rotation. This explains the need to
    GotoFrame (or similar). From that perspective I don't need to
    become a Flash guru (for now) and can't justify buying all the
    expensive flash tools for this one (apparently) simple task: Frame
    by Frame control of an external FLV via the SWF.
    Note. I've started using SWFObject. Might this library help?
    In summary.
    How do I add the onEnterFrame ActionScript sample (or
    something similar) into a SWF using only the Flex SDK command line
    tools or similar in order to control an external FLV?
    Cheers
