Embedding HTML in a Flash site

I'm trying to add the HTML code for a PayPal button to my
website, but for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out how. Is
there a way to add HTML to a Flash file, or even to a Flash
generated button? Am I even making sense? I'm a complete
programming newb, this website is my first project. Any help anyone
can offer is greatly appreciated.

You can set dynamic text fields to render HTML (though only a
small subset of HTML tags are supported). You could also import the
button graphics and make te button itself in Flash using a getURL()
function to call the appropriate page when clicked.
Hope that helps!

    You're not getting any help here because this is the forum for discussions of the Community Help Client application and Help system in general. For CSS questions, you should probably try something like the Dreamweaver forum.

  • Embeded html

    Hi,
    I have some embeded html in my flash 8 file. This is the code
    for the text file:
    myData = new LoadVars();
    myData.onLoad = function() {
    myText.html=true;
    myText.htmlText = this.myVariable;
    myText.backgroundColor = 0xdadbdf;
    myText.Color = 0xff6600;
    myData.load("myText.txt");
    And here is the text file itself:
    myVariable=<font color="#3c3c66"><a
    href='asfunction:Video1'><b>A Little Bit of
    Blue</b></a> (2:18)<br>This is the short version
    of the video "A Little Bit of Blue."<br>

    It works fine, but I see no way of controlling the font size
    of the text in the myText.txt file. I've tried putting a
    <font> tag in the file, but that did not work. I tried adding
    a line to the action script code above, but that did not work
    either. What am I doing wrong, and how can I change the font size,
    if it can be done? Thanks.

  • Embedding HTML Into Flash?

    Let me start with the fact I only know some AS2. AS3 tends to go over my head. So I'm using Flash 8
    If I need FlashCS5 to do this, then, PLEASE, let me know.
    Here's the situration.
    I manage and build a number of sites. Many are parts of a network. The goal is to join them all as one. Both without using php (don't know php), and without having to leave primary page. A Flash Site is the plan. But that is a TON of work to re-create entire sites flash that are already large and established.
    So I got to thinking. What if I embed the HTML/CSS sites into Flash itself? That way they can still make their changes and it'll effect both the HTML version as well as it's mirror/portal via the Flash site?
    In Short:
    I want to embed this page on one frame in Flash:
    http://www.uga-international.com/About.html
    And place a link to another KeyFrame that has this page/site embeded:
    http://www.melholder.com/MAIN.html
    How would I go about doing this?
    ====
    Then it got me thinking even more. If this works, would it be possible to load a SWF video player (Webstunning FLV Player) into Flash and run it as if it's part of the Flash site?
    I thought the Loader Component would do this for me. But it keeps saying it can't locate the "playList.xml" file. The player has outside files it referances. This eoor prevent the player.swf from playing period.
    So how would I go about getting the loader to player external .SWF files that referance external .XML files?
    Here are two sample pages using different .SWF files that referance external .XML files:
    http://www.melholder.com/index.html
    http://www.dovm.org/TEST1a/Test1a.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for you help and patience.
    But your last statement "copy and paste your frameset encoding" just got me lost.
    In Flash, I know how to use the "MyLoader" to load an outside file (but loading HTML pages in it does not work) But it only has these Parameter options:
    autoLoad:True
    contentPath: "URL goes here
    autoScale:True
    I also know how to point a button's AS2 to open a URL page.
    on (release) {
    getURL("URL Link Goes Here",_blank);
    Those are the only pointing methods I know.
    Now that I think about it. do I change the "_blank"  part of the AS2 code to the name of the Iframe instead?

  • Embedding HTML in Flash.  Is it possible?

    I have a simple website that I created and want to put up a
    video that will play directly from YouTube. What I want to do is
    embed the code they give me onto an SWF and have it play the video.
    I seem to be able to do this on a Dreamweaver page and on blogs but
    no matter how hard I try, the code comes up as text when I preview
    in HTML(Default). I have tried having it as dynamic text, input
    text, you name it and I can't seem to get it to play the video
    instead of the text displaying text. Can this even be done? If so,
    how how how?
    I have a video embedded now that runs off my server but it
    takes forever and a day to load. Are there any other solutions to
    get a high quality 2min. video to play without at least a 2min.
    wait?

    you can create a SWF movie or document on flash with a flash
    cideo player on it and then embedding that swf into your site will
    call the video off from youtube or where ever the video is,

  • Embedding an mp3 player in flash site

    Hi
    i am trying to figure out how to embed an mp3 player in my flash site. do anyone know of any good tutorials. I have no really actionscript skills.
    thanks
    Will

    Thanks Ned!!!
    Ok, I'm going to look into the Actionscript 2 music player options out there.
    One question, incase I have a hard time finding what I need, would it be too difficult to have a text box open a new window, and in that window, have all the HTML music player?  I found this site and I'd be OK with something like this:
    http://digitalmedia.oreilly.com/2005/02/23/mp3_embed.html
    My only criteria would be to not have a download file link and that it would stream. Just curious if this would be an option since I've had such terrible luck trying to figure this whole music thing out.
    Thanks again, Ned!!!

    No such thing. Flash is not html based and therefore cannot

  • Help Needed!! embeding a swf widget into a flash site

    Hi all.
    I am currently making a flash site for a band, and need to
    embed an external SWF widget into it.
    Its easy enough to embed it into HTML page, but idealy this
    site will endup a single SWF file, to make distribution onto the
    bands various pages (MYspace etc) easier.
    The code to embed in html is:
    <embed src="
    http://www.soundclick.com/player/V2/mp3player200.swf"
    width="200" height="140"
    flashvars="bandid=850463&playType=band&ext=1&testMode=0&autoplay=1"
    name="MP3PlayerBasic" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    wmode="transparent" pluginspage="
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
    />
    Some one told me it should be no probs to embed a swf with
    some sort of LoadMovie command, but he didnt have a qule about
    assigning flashvars to it.
    Any help here would ge greatly apreciated.
    Cheers.
    Sion

    I am listening to you and was letting you know that the code that I am trying to use is probably from an old forum. The code that Flash CS4 cranks out is about 10 pages long which seems a little much just to import an .swf with a transparent background. I don't imagine CS6 would be much shorter.
    From what I gathered, the html file checks to see what version of Flash you're using as well as what browser. The code for that is insane in my opinion and I am trying to keep my html file for my homepage rather small. I had no problem importing this in DW with a transparent background (when I was using DW) but am using Komodo Edit as my HTML editor now as it didn't come with Production Premium that I just got.
    If you know the correct (newer) code, that would import an .swf with a transparency, that would be most be useful. If not I guess I'll just wait for someone to reply that does.
    I will try to extract the code from the CS4 HTML file and use that, but did already try it once and it didn't work. If all else fails, I'll just download a trial version of DW and/or Flash CS6 and see if I can figure out how I did it on a website I developed a couple years ago (that I lost the files from in a HD crash).

  • FLash site will redirect to 3 subdomains(html,blog,forum)How SEO Friendly is going to be MyWebsite?

    I'm building a website which is going to have 3 subdomains to load within . One html  is going to promote the services and sell it (135mb), one  WordPress blog news (15mb) and one vBulettin forum. For this reason I have a typical flash template with 4 selections, with one click for each of the 4 images which will describe the content,  this will redirect people to the right place ( html website,blog, and forum ) . What is the best method to SEO my website ? I need people to know/easy to find me on google, to know abaut the services I offer, blog news and forum. I cannot enter all those menus on the services subdomain because I dont want people to get scared that they have to pay for someting and get out; the blog looks more worst compare with html so I cant enter all links in there..; forum its forum..
    So my only decent option is to have this flash site with 3 big options which will redirect people to their choises. But how is going to affect SEO ? am'I going to need to SEO my subdomains, like www.mywebsite.com/services , or the main flash site ?
    thank you

    I agree with what Ned is saying, the Home page for your site IS normally the most important and should be well packed with SEO targeted content... of which Flash by itself is not very good. In addition, iOS devices like the iPhone will not display the Flash.
    So while it is possible to get great page rankings for those various sections, the HTML, Blog, or Forum, it may take longer and lacking good SEO for your Home page, in effect will dillute the overall SEO effectiveness of the site.
    So my advise, don't use Flash for your Home page. If you do, then you should use swfobject and create extensive alternate content. This alt content will satisfy the SEO requirements as well as provide a display for iProducts.
    For your review:
    If you think that Flash is somehow bad for SEO, it's time to dispell that MYTH!
    If fact, in some circumstances I'll use Flash INSTEAD of just HTML because then I'll have better SEO than with just HTML alone.
    The client provided the artwork for the page... and that's what they wanted to use a .jpg image. Well yes, that could be done in HTML but it would be virtually invisible to Google. So Instead I converted the image into a Flash .swf and used swfobject to display the Flash. swfobject allows you to create alternate content inside the <div> which also holds the Flash .swf, then when the page is loaded it detects if the browser has the Flash pluggin. If it does, it displays just the Flash content, if not, it displays the alternate content. Since almost everyone has the Flash pluggin, for most people the Flash version of the <div> will display.
    The alternate content for that <div> can be any regular HTML text, images, media player, links, etc., anything that you would use if you were not using the Flash. Now the best part is that the alternate content can be "over the top" as far as optimizing for SEO, since it will not be seen by most viewers.
    Here's another example of SEO with Flash.. again, the page is just a single image provided by the client:
    http://www.ksowetsuits.com/
    View the source code. The alt content is paragraph after paragraph of information about the site, including lists and links. If it was just the HTML, it might be kind of a boring Home page. But for SEO I can go "over the top" in promoting the site, since most viewers will never see that part... but it's all indexed by search engines. The end result is BETTER SEO using Flash than just HTML.
    On another Web site, a Flash video is displayed, the alt content is the complete text narration of the video. Now how many people would take the time to read that if they could just watch the video instead?? again, better SEO with Flash than without. In fact in one case we had first page search result from that video narration within 4 hours of posting the page.
    On still another site with a Flash video, the alt content is another video, but a .mov version, which will, in effect play Flash video on the iPhone (not possible you say??). Well since the iPhone does not have Flash pluggin, it simply displays the .mov version of the video, while everyione else sees the Flash version.
    So anyway, if Flash is a part of your Web development, you should look into using swfobject and alternate content.

  • Embedding a Flash animation in a Flash Site

    I'm looking for a solution to the following problem. I am
    developing my website in Flash and I would like to show examples of
    interactive flash animations I have developed. I imported my my
    .swf animation to my flash site library, but when I drag and drop
    it to the stage the following happens:
    1. The animation plays from frame to frame without stopping.
    2. Elements which were hidden (off the stage) in the
    animation now show up on the stage.
    3. When I open the animation in edit view (double click the
    animation on the stage) the entire animation appears as individual
    frames on one timeline.
    I would like to maintain the interactivity of the animation
    on the site (i.e. buttons, tool tips) and I suspect there is a way
    to embed the animation in the flash site while in flash.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    You don't really want to add new files that way. In addition
    to the problems that you list, you will also be making one, large,
    file. This means that it will take longer to download, and possibly
    play poorly.
    You should keep these independent .swf files as they are, and
    "import" them using either AS2's loadMovie() or AS3's URLRequest()
    to bring each file into your movie.

  • Embeding Flash swf to existing Flash site

    I'm reletively new to Flash CS4 and I have created a Flash site that I need to add another swf file to. Can someone explain how I can insert this other swf file into my existing website which is also a swf file? Can it be done? I've been tinkering with adding another layer and the timelines but can't seem to get it to work. The site is using AS2 but this newer swf file which I created from SlideShow Pro is using AS3. Could that be a problem?

    you have a problem.
    no matter actionscript versions, if you "import" a swf file, in the authoring environment, to another fla, all actionscript in the imported swf will fail.
    if you "load" an as3 swf into an as2 swf, the as3 actionscript will fail.
    you could create a new "loader" as3 swf that will load your as2 swf.  your as2 swf will work as expected.  you can then load your slideshow as3 swf into your loader swf and the slideshow as3 swf will work as expected.

    tlcarl,
    > I know most people probably view at 1024 x 768.
    You think so? Even if they have their resolution that high
    (which is
    fairly standard, nowadays), do you think most people maximize
    their browsers
    to fill that whole area?
    > Is there anyway to auto resize based up on screen
    > resolution or something to detect the screen size and
    > adjust the webpage accordingly.
    There is, indeed. :) Check out the Stage.onResize event in
    the
    ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference. That event is dispatched
    when the
    browser (or whatever container) is resized -- in cases where
    the SWF is
    embedded with percentages. If that's your aim, you'll need to
    code against
    that event, which can be done like this ...
    http://www.quip.net/blog/2006/flash/how-to-position-movie-clips-browser-resizing
    It can take a bit of thought, depending on the complexity of
    your goal,
    but the result is usually worth it. The site in your URL is
    already built,
    so this wouldn't do much of anything without opening the
    hood, so to speak,
    and completely rebuilding the engine. A Flash movie has to be
    designed and
    programmed to respond to the Stage.onResize event.

  • Web Crawlers and Flash Sites

    So I realize this is probably an age old question, but...
    I'm designing a new version of my web site (
    http://www.steveweeksmusic.com/Intro.html).
    The Home page will be one big flash object. Other than the basic
    tags, there is not much HTML on this page. All the links are
    embedded in the Flash movie.
    The subsequent pages in my site are pretty much HTML with a
    small flash object that is the navigation menu. If a webcrawler
    makes it's way to any of these pages, I'm sure it'll crawl all over
    my site and index everything for search engines.
    My home page will get discovered by search engines as it is
    referenced from plenty of other sites, but my concern is that the
    web crawlers won't ever go past my Home page since there are no
    HTML links on it, just a Flash object.
    I do have a non-flash version of my homepage, but I'd prefer
    to have the Flash version be the one that web crawlers know about.
    It detects if the browser has the correct version of Flash and
    allows the person to download Flash or goto the non-flash. if they
    don't.
    So, if anyone has advice on strategies to get a web crawler
    to crawl"through" my flash home page and into the next tieer of
