Embedding quicktime into flash
hey guys. Im doing a page in flash where I want to have
options to play certain quicktime movies. I either want to have the
quicktime files open on another window but with the the viewer not
able to change to the window size, or I want to have the movie to
play right there in flash. I know how to bring in a quicktime movie
to Flash, but is that the only way to do it? Its going to be a lot
of frames long. I know in a regular html page you can use java
script to control a windows size. I cant find a way to use java
script in Flash. Can anyone help me if this makes sence ?
Thanks
Thank you for you help and patience.
But your last statement "copy and paste your frameset encoding" just got me lost.
In Flash, I know how to use the "MyLoader" to load an outside file (but loading HTML pages in it does not work) But it only has these Parameter options:
autoLoad:True
contentPath: "URL goes here
autoScale:True
I also know how to point a button's AS2 to open a URL page.
on (release) {
getURL("URL Link Goes Here",_blank);
Those are the only pointing methods I know.
Now that I think about it. do I change the "_blank" part of the AS2 code to the name of the Iframe instead?

Embedding HTML Into Flash?
Let me start with the fact I only know some AS2. AS3 tends to go over my head. So I'm using Flash 8
If I need FlashCS5 to do this, then, PLEASE, let me know.
Here's the situration.
I manage and build a number of sites. Many are parts of a network. The goal is to join them all as one. Both without using php (don't know php), and without having to leave primary page. A Flash Site is the plan. But that is a TON of work to re-create entire sites flash that are already large and established.
So I got to thinking. What if I embed the HTML/CSS sites into Flash itself? That way they can still make their changes and it'll effect both the HTML version as well as it's mirror/portal via the Flash site?
In Short:
I want to embed this page on one frame in Flash:
http://www.uga-international.com/About.html
And place a link to another KeyFrame that has this page/site embeded:
http://www.melholder.com/MAIN.html
How would I go about doing this?
====
Then it got me thinking even more. If this works, would it be possible to load a SWF video player (Webstunning FLV Player) into Flash and run it as if it's part of the Flash site?
I thought the Loader Component would do this for me. But it keeps saying it can't locate the "playList.xml" file. The player has outside files it referances. This eoor prevent the player.swf from playing period.
So how would I go about getting the loader to player external .SWF files that referance external .XML files?
Here are two sample pages using different .SWF files that referance external .XML files:
http://www.melholder.com/index.html
http://www.dovm.org/TEST1a/Test1a.html
Thanks in advance.Thank you for you help and patience.

Embedding JavaScript into Flash
Can someone please tell me is it possible to embed some
JavaScript into a .fla file?
The reason I ask is because I am doing a major project in
which I have decided to create an Intelligent Help Desk in
Macromedia Flash. In it I aimed to implement SitePal but it is only
now I find out it uses JavaScript.
I don't want to be rude but I need a reply as soon as
possible as the matter requires some urgency.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

sorry, don't really have time. If you are publishing for
flash 8, check
out the documentation for the ExternalInterface class as this
is the
best method so far available for getting flash to communicate
with
JavaScript and vice-versa.
Otherwise, if you're publishing to flash player 6.0.65.0 or
higher check
out the Flash/Javascript integration kit, which can be found
here:
http://weblogs.macromedia.com/flashjavascript/
I also have a working demo of this on my site here:
http://www.moloko.f2s.com/gateway/
if publishing to flash player version earlier than 6.0.65.0,
you will
have to use getURL("javascript:"); - check out the
documentation in
flash for getURL()

Help on embedding files into flash to be downloaded
I wanted to know if there is a way to embed a pdf file into a flash document to be downloaded by the customer. I want them to be able to click on the thumbnail version of the file to start the download of the high res version of that file. I am making an interactive cd so the files would be stored on the cd itself. I know I could do it by storing the files on the internet but I would like to keep everything local. Thank you so much for your time. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
You can't. The only way you can do that is store the files locally in your case in the CD and use the normal URLRequest method but instead of calling an http://whatever.com URL you call the RELATIVE url to your file for example if your pdf is saved in a folder called "pdfs" and your swf on the root of the CD then you would call URLRequest("pdfs/mypdf.pdf");

Embedding an interactive flash into Authorware
I want to embed a flash interactive into Authorware (see:
http://www.cellsalive.com/meiosis.htm
In the past I embedded a basic Flash animation into
Authorware and it seem to work ok. I'm not sure of more complex
ones i.e. that have interactive controls etc. I assume its not so
simple as to embed into authorware. Is it the case that it is
doable, but requires some configuration/programming? Or does it
work be simply embedding the complex interactive flash into
authorware?
thanks in advance

If the flash file id published for player version 6 (or
earlier) then
you can embed it using the Flash Asset Xtra, probably in the
same way as
you have before. If it is a later version you will need to
use the
Flash player ActiveX control.

Need help converting quicktime movies into Flash files
I need to convert a QT, PhotoJPEG compressed, movie file into a .flv format. I have AE 6.5 Standard and it keeps quitting on exporting a SWV file which would could probably get me by with my client. But, again, it errors out saying something like a JPG is busy, or a file is busy.
I have FlipforMac,a purchased version. But I'm not sure if converting it into a .wmv and then a Flash file is the best route or is even possible.
Any suggestions or ideas of software that I could purchase??
~reickoi don't think you have read up on the use of flash video
(FLV). there's nothing you need that you do
not already have (except maybe quicktime pro or some other
video editing program). the FLV exporter
comes FREE with flash 8. You should be able to open your
quicktime movie in QT PRO and export to FLV
format - then use any of the flash playback components for
FLV files - best bet is to read the help
docs on this subject and go to the devnet section of
adobe.com where there are several in-depth
articles about implementing flash video into your site.

Embedding quicktime movie???
hi, i'm struggling to load a .swf with an embedded quicktime
mov into my flash page using the preloader + loader components in
flash mx 2004!
i've followed the help: "To create an application with the
ProgressBar component in event mode:..."
the loader works but the sound in the embedded mov starts
playing before the visuals - pls help!!!
this is the code on the 1st frame of the original SWF to load
the SWF with the embedded .mov:
stop();
loader.autoLoad = false;
loader.contentPath = "graphics/sponsjan_clip.swf";
pBar.source = loader;
// loading does not start until load() is invoked
loader.load();
and here's the final page:
http://www.thebornkreative.com/promo/SponsJanBlokBroekies.htmThanks Daniel. Your suggestion was correct.
In order to access the quicktime movie file I had to use the following path:
/<portal-name>/portlets/<portlet-name>/<movie-name>.mov

Khosro,
Khosro,
My guess would be that the path to "sample.mov" is different depending on
whether you access
the page directly or the portlet is included within the overall Portal
page.
As an experiment, try changing the URL to an absolute path, or copying the
file into the same location as your other portal resources.
Sincerely,
Daniel Selman

I have imported Quicktime video into flash with no problem.
This time when the mov. is embedded I get weird little horz. lines
as the video goes along. You can see this at
http://www.ramseydesign.biz/movies.html
the bottom movie on the left (outtakes). If anyone can figure this
out I would love to know what I have or haven't done correctly. Has
it got to do with interlacing. I have deinterlaced making the
Quicktime mov. which I have done for the others. So, I don't get
it.You're not hallucinating.
The public documentation for XMP embedding is currently behind the shipping products. We're working on getting updated documentation out, can't say anything about exactly when.
Developers in a time crunch should contact Gunar Penikis ([email protected]) if you want to try to get early info under NDA. -
I am new to adobe acrobat, and I'm using version 8. I am trying to insert quicktime videos in a PDF File. I have figured out how to insert the video files and embed them in the PDF.
However, when I save the PDF, close it, and then re-open the it, the quicktime file does not appear. If I don't use a poster image, then it is just blank where the file is, but the file is there, and when I click on the empty space where I know that it has been embedded a dialog box opens about playing it just this once, or making it a trusted file, etc. Then it plays, and the volume and playblack controls, along with the background, are visible. (it is actually just an audio track in a quicktime file, so nothing is playing but the audio, and the background is solid black. I have set it up so that it stays there once activated.
What I want is for the volume and playblack controls and the black background to appear as soon as you open the PDF file, without having to click in the blank area where the file has been inserted. This is going to be part of a portfolio that I am submitting for a school program, so I need the person that is opening it to be able to clearly see where the file is, and see the playblack and volume controls so that he can playback the file.
So how do i get the embedded quicktime file to automatically show up in "activated" mode, with the playback and volume controls visible and ready to be used?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...If the video is only linked it would reduce the file size of the pdf and it would make it accessible for people opening on a device (like iPad) which does not allow flash which must be installed with Acrobat to view embedded media.
But I would recommend to send the people only a link to the PDF. I hate it, when my iPhone filled with useless stuff, if I would like to see it I could donwload, but as attachment make my space overfilled. -

I have an iPhone4. I thought it came with the QuickTime application but cannot find it currently installed in my phone. I received an email with an embedded QuickTime song how can I bypass the email and save the music to my device? There is no difficulty accessing or playing the music.
Thanks Michael, this truth gradually became clear to me as I experimented.
Here's my workaround: Label the audio track something other than music and it will sync. It this case I called it a podcast and I could transfer the audio.
I will be provideing feedback to Apple but I am sure it's something they must be working on.
At the moment the only way to send an audio track labeled MUSIC to your iCloud enabled iPhone is to drag it into iTunes, upload it to the cloud, put it in a playlist, sync the iPhone then go to that synced playlist and re-download the track. Cumbersome doesn't quite capture it. Facepalm gets closer.
Looking forward to seeing iCloud mature. -
Embedded Quicktime not playing correctly in InDesign PDF - please help!!
ok - I have an issue that I can't work out and I'm hoping someone can help - tried searching for an answer to no avail. I've just built my first interactive PDF portfolio in InDesign. I should point out that I'm a producer/editor, so my knowledge of InDesign & Acrobat is not extensive. The PDF includes some embedded Quicktime movies. The movies play normally on one of my monitors (Samsung 1680x1050), but will not play correctly on my other two monitors (2x Samsung 1280x1024) - the audio plays and the play controller appears to be working but the video area is just all white...HOWEVER...if I open the PDF and play just one of the videos on my 1680x1050 monitor first, then all videos play correctly on all monitors. Have tried opening the PDF on another desktop and the movies do not work (in the same manner as above)- also tried on my laptop and the movies play correctly. Please help if you can - I need to get this out to clients and I'm baffled!! Thank You!
Is it as easy as wmode: transparent after shoving the swf into a table??? does the transparent option make everything outside the table dissappear? thanks...

Other problems with loading Captivate files into Flash AS3 project
I have a Captivate file done with Captivate 3, published to
Flash player 9 that is being loaded into Flash AS3. The captivate
is a simple recording of some mouse clicks in a browser. I am
displaying the playbar along the bottom, and its buttons all work
fine except for the progress bar, where you can drag the knob and
scrub back & forth in your presentation.
This progress bar is not working as it should. I see the
mouse cursor change to a hand, but when I click I cannot drag the
knob to control the progress bar. The other buttons in the playbar
do work (replay, pause, play, back, forward).
This is a unique problem in that it is only happening when
viewed in IE (7) when loaded into my Flash AS3 project. When viewed
in Firefox in my project, or as a standalone SWF, or as a SWF
simply embedded onto a plain HTML page, it works just fine.
Does anybody have any insight?
Another thing I notice with loading Captivate files with AS3
is the the amount of output messages it displays. Rather annoying
