Empty Viewer on Test iPad for multi folio iTunes Free Subscription

Hello,
I'm trying to test a free subscription, multi folio newsstand app with renditions. However, the viewer opens without any folios - just the subscription tiles. I've triple checked the Apple product IDs, shared secrets and have all of the appropriate certificates. I'm at my wit's end! A few questions:
Should free subscriptions folios be public/free or retail? I'm reading conflicting things.
I'm a little unsure of the order in which I should publish folios in the folio producer. Should this step proceed or follow creating the .ipa for testing?
Does this naming of the actual folios matter, as long as they are the same? I only need the same exact Product ID for iTunes Connect and the App Builder, correct?
I've noticed that after you enter your shared secret there is a field to enter an iTunes url in the Admin Tool. Which url do we use? Do we enter this after the folio is public?
Thanks!
Darin

Free subscriptions should be Public/Free, not Retail.
It doesn't matter which order you publish the folios and create the .ipa for testing. When you publish the folios as Free and Public, they should appear in your testing app if (A) you specified the shared secret, (B) published the folios as Public/Free, (C) set up your renditions/folios correctly, and (D) specified the free subscription Product ID created in iTunes Connect in the DPS App Builder.
When you set up renditions for a subscription app, the Folio Name, Product ID, and Publication Date values need to be the same for all renditions, and different for each set of renditions. Specify the Publication Date values by choosing from the calendar picker.
Yes, the iTunes URL becomes available when you publish the app.

  • .ipa testing for multi-folio unable to display folio

    Launched the Developer app (.ipa) on the ipad. It starts up, the cover shows for two seconds and then is blank. Title, gear on right and library icon on bottom shows, but nothing else. Folio downloads and opens fine in Adobe viewer. Did I miss a step?

    Is the folio paid or free?
    If free, make sure it's published public/free
    If paid, has the folio correspoding in-app purchase being created in your iTunes connect?If yes, does the product ID of the folio and the product ID of the correspoding in-app purchase macthes exactly?

  • How do I view only movies available for rent on ITunes?

    I only want to see the library of movies available for rent, is there a way to select that search?  I do not wish to purchase and don't want to click through movies trying to see which are available for rental and which are not.

    You cannot.
    You would have to contact itunes support and ask if they will do this for you.

  • When creating an Android app in DPS App Builder, why do I not have the option of "Multi Folio with Amazon Subscription"?

    The only option available is Google Play. Why is this happening?

    I found a folder with an old APK file that worked. I wish I could edit it because it has the wrong splash screen attached to it, but at least the app is working. I wish I could have the app back in app builder and be able to edit that. I understand that you all aren't going to support these Amazon Subscription apps but we have current subscribers and they may have a full year left. We are stuck with an app that we still need to use until their subscriptions are up before we can make a change to how our android user are going to receive their magazines. Adobe should allow some sort of support for this type of situation. Now I have an app with a bad splash screen that looks completely unprofessional. Is there anyway to recover the file in App Builder? Is that what you were referring to or were you just referring to the APK file? I do appreciate all your help and attention to this.

  • Testing free subscription sign up

    Hi again,
      We have an almost-finished custom storefront we're testing, in a multi folio with (free) iTunes subscription app. The work is based on this example HTML implementation of the DPS default library | Adobe Developer Connection. We've adapted that to show the subscribe button, even though the most recent follow isn't flagged as purchasable. In the test app clicking this button pops up a dialog, with our free subscription listed as the only option. If that subscription is clicked by the user, the popup disappears and the code seems to execute as if everytyhing's fine. That code looks like this:
    if (ADOBE.isAPIAvailable) {
         var productId = $(e.currentTarget).attr("id");
         var transaction = adobeDPS.receiptService.availableSubscriptions[productId].purchase();
         transaction.completedSignal.addOnce(function(transaction) {
              if (transaction.state == adobeDPS.transactionManager.transactionStates.FINISHED)
                   $("body").trigger("subscriptionPurchased");
    If I log productId, it does output the ID of our free subscription. I don't know if this seemingly successful result is meaningful however - the user is not prompted for their Apple details, or anything like that. I think this may be a limitation of the test app, is that right?
    Is there anything else we can do here, to verify the code is good?
    Thanks,
    Toby

    Anyone know anything about this?

  • Creative Cloud member wants to publish multi-folios for a client...

    Hello everyone,
    I did send this question as a"private message" first and did receive some answers that I would like to share here. Big thank you to both Himanshu and Bob!!!  If someone feels like adding more info regarding the subject please do.
    "I’m the Adobe Creative Cloud member (one year subscription) and as such I’m entitled to publish a Single Edition app through my Digital Publishing Suite. Now, I have just been approached by one printed magazine, here in Vancouver, Canada, and I’m suppose to provide them with an estimate for adapting their publication for the iPad. Before I start thinking about my fee I would like to know what we have to pay to Adobe. They have four issues per year and I guess this goes under multi-folio applications category. Now, the questions:
    1. Can I prepare the folios with my Creative Cloud membership or I have to upgrade to Professional edition of the DPS?
    2. Does my client need to purchase the Professional Edition of DPS or not?
    3. Or, we need only one license of the Professional Edition and if so who’s is that license going to be?
    4. Or, I’m talking nonsense and you can just explain me how this works, please?
    Have a wonderful day."
    Regards,
    Dragan, Vancouver
    Himanshu Singh :
    You would need to upgrade to DPS Professional Edition for multi Folio Applications. DPS Pro is $495 per month + taxes. Also you have download fees applicable. You get 250 free downloads per month for the first year and  for any additional downloads, you need to purchase Folio Bundle. Approximately, each Folio Download will cost you $ .30, so you can charge you client that amount per folio download + DPS Pro contract fees.
    If your Customer purchases DPS Pro, you can read this article to know how to work with them : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/customer-a gency-dps-workflows.html
    Now regarding your questions.
    1. Can I prepare the folios with my Creative Cloud membership or I have to upgrade to Professional edition of the DPS?
    You need DPS Pro for creating Multi-Issue Applications. With CC, you can create Built in single apps. For Magazine with at least 4 issues per year, it’s best to go for Pro edition.
    2. Does my client need to purchase the Professional Edition of DPS or not?
    Either you or your client can purchase DPS Pro depending upon your contract with the client. You Client needs to get themselves Apple iOS Developer account.
    3. Or, we need only one license of the Professional Edition and if so who’s is that license going to be?
    4. You need one DPS Pro Contract. You can create unlimited number of apps and account using one License.
    Bob Bringhurst :
    In this case, I believe that your client would need to pay for DPS. Have you seen the DPS Getting Started Guide? There's a section about understanding IDs and roles.

    suggestions?
    thanks in advance.
    Tom

    I'm not quite following. I have the app created and ready in iTunes Connect--it is a "multi-folio with iTunes subscription" and is enabled for Newsstand. The free subscription product ID in App Builder matches the Apple ID in iTunes Connect.
    We wish to launch the app with an older issue (folio) and we'll publish the current issue in the coming days. All of the issues that will be available in this app will be free. And we would obviously like the users to be notified when a new issue is available.
    Do I not need an in-app purchase for this older issue--the one that will be available immediately? As I have it now, in iTunes Connect, I click on the "manage in-app purchases" and I have this first, older issue that is ready to submit. And in the "manage newsstand" section I don't have any issues.
    Is this correct?

  • Push Notification Multi Folio without subscription

    Is it possible to use push notifications in a Multi Folio App without subscriptions?
    I read once that a subscription is necessary to send push notifications.
    Thanks
    Haeme Ulrich

    It's the other way around. Push notifications are required for Newsstand subscription apps, but subscriptions aren't necessary for push. You can add push notifications to non-subscription apps. There are lots of examples, including DPS Tips. Every now and then, you'll see a red badge to indicate the number of new or updated folios.

  • Migrate a Single Edition over to a Multi-folio with subscriptions?

    We have a Pro account.
    We want to produce a free Single Edition app and then migrate this over to a retail multi-folio with subscriptions later on. Can this be done?
    Basically, we are not ready to offer multi-folio with subscriptions today, but would like to get an App out into iTunes so that we can hold a piece of real estate in a specific category as well as have an App name that someone else cannot use.
    thanks in advance.

    Yes, you can switch from a single-folio app to a multi-folio app with subscriptions. In DPS App Builder, you'll need to create a new version of the app. (When you edit an app in DPS App Builder, you cannot change the viewer type.) If you specify mobileprovision files based on the same App ID used with the single-folio app, Apple will recognize the new version as an update to the existing app.
    With a multi-folio subscription app, you'll need to submit in-app purchases to Apple. When you do so, you'll need to submit a new version of the app at the same time.

  • Submitting a Second Folio in a Subscription App

    Hello,
    I need some guidance regarding the steps necessary to submit the second issue of a multi-folio iTunes subscription app. The issue has been published in the folio producer, but I'm unsure of what needs to be done in the app builder and/or the iOS portal. Do I need to create a new App ID or mobileprovision files? I've reviewed the Adobe iOS Publishing Companion Guide, but don't see much information regarding subsequent issues. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
    Darin

    Is the new folio free or retail?
    If it's a folio for a free subscription, you just need to publish it as Public and Free, and it will show up in your app library for users to download.
    If it's a retail folio, you need to go into iTunes Connect and create an in-app purchase (non-consummable) for that individual folio. When you create the folio, you'll specify a product ID (such as "com.publisher.musicmag.february2013"). Submit the in-app purchase to Apple. In Folio Producer, publish the folio as Public and Retail, and specify the exact same Product ID you entered in iTunes Connect. The folio won't show up in your live app until Apple approves the in-app purchases and it's cleared for sale. Once Apple approves, it might take a couple of hours for the new folio to show up.

  • Creating first iPad multi-folio viewer...need ID help

    I am creating a multi-folio viewer that will have monthly issues. I've completed a sample folio and the first two issues.
    I understand to  create a multi-folio viewer, I need one Adobe ID to create all of the folios, and not use the Adobe ID for any other folio production.
    I'm confused on how to name the App Id and Product ID. How are all the issues linked to the sample folio and become available as a purchase and download when each month's issue is ready?
    Thanks!

    You specify the App ID only on the Apple developer site. For best results, use the "reverse DNS" naming convention for the App ID, such as com.publisher.publication. You don't specify the App ID anywhere on the Adobe side.
    Product IDs are required for all published folios, but they're only significant if you're selling the folio. In that case, the Product ID you specify needs to match when you create it in iTunes Connect and publish the folio on the Adobe side. Again, use the reverse DNS approach: com.publisher.publication.issue. Each different folio should have a different Product ID, such as "com.dancer.danceoff.2012october" and "com.dancer.danceoff.2012november." However, folio renditions should share the same Product ID.

  • Content Viewer crashes, will my multi-folio app crash as well?

    I am in the process of creating back-issues before our multi-folio app goes live in a couple weeks (my first foray into Adobe DPS). Some articles in my folios are very large in size because of large PNG object state slideshows (about 25 MBs for each article). These articles are now causing Adobe Content Viewer (ACV) to crash, ever since the app was updated to accommodate the v26 versions. I have tried creating identical folios with both v25 and v26 tools, and they both crash when reading the large articles.
    ACV did not crash when reading the exact same folios/articles before the app updated to accommodate the v26 tools. I'm testing on an iPad 1. I will be able to test on an iPad 2 and iPad 3 in a few days. The same type of folios/articles do not cause ACV to crash on android before or after update.
    My question is... does ACV crashing mean my real multi-folio app is guaranteed to crash when it goes live in a few weeks? Or is this a bug in ACV that will not exist in my real multi-folio app?
    Thanks.

    ACV and the custom viewer are the same. If you are seeing problems with ACV you will have the same problems with your custom app. This isn't a bug in the app, it's the app running out of memory because of the complexity of your pages. iPads aren't as powerful as desktops. If you are designing articles with full-page PNG slideshows with multiple states you will wind up with low memory problems. You should rethink your page design to simplify the number of large assets you have.

  • Folio not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on some iPads

    I have been working on developing an app for iPad in InDesign CS6 using Adobe DPS. For the most part, the process was working smoothly until recently. Once signed into Adobe Content Viewer on my third generation iPad, the folio shows up fine and downloads as expected. However, when others with older iPads download Content Viewer and sign in, they do not see the folio as an option. For example, a person with a second generation iPad, who has the latest iOS, was unable to see the folio in the viewer. I have stripped the app down to about 40megs, thinking size might have been an issue, but after multiple users have experience identical results, I don't think that is it. Has anyone had a similar issue, and is there anything I can do on my end to make the app compatible with a wider range of iPads?

    Is it a single-folio app or a multi-folio app? If you set up renditions for a multi-folio app, only the appropriate rendition is available for a device. See this article about renditions:

  • Multi Folio App for Educative Institution

    Hello,
    We are an educative institution and have an internal magazine which we view in iPad with Adobe Content Viewer.
    Now we want to publish to App store and we already have the Apple Dev Account, and all Certificates and Assets ready too.
    My question is: ¿What is the simplest, and, well, cheapest way to publish our multi folio app?
    I see that with a Creative Cloud Account you get the DPS but only single edition. Do we have to purchase the DPS Pro Edition in order to publish Multi Folio App or is there another way?
    We also have the CS5.5 license for education. Are there any special offers for Educative Intitutions?
    Thank you so much
    Eduardo Flores

    You can purchase DPS Professional Account either Monthly or Annual to create Multi Issue Apps. I do not think that there are any offers for DPS Pro edition.
