  • SharePoint Search encodes the URL incorrectly when there are special characters in a filename on a file share

    In our Sharepoint Server 2013 CA, Search Administration, Content Sources, we have configured a File Share Content Source.
    Search queryes works fine and it returns relevant documents from the file share content source.
    But when click on a file with a filename that contains special characters like "ÁÝÚÍÓÐ", Sharepoint encodes the link to the file incorect, and when we click on the link to the file, it throws an error on the screen saying "This
    page can’t be displayed".
    The following picture shows an example on how Sharepoint shows encodes the URL to a file with a special character in the filename:
    As you can see, the link to the file is
    \\xserver1\felagstest\Kompliserað\Ólavur.pdf, but when I hoover over the file, it translates og encodes this to
    \\xserver1\Felagstest\Kompliserað\Ólavur.pdf. If I manually type the correct link in the address field in Internet Explorer then it works.
    What is the problem here, and more importently what is the solution to this problem?

    This is solved in the Hotfix KB 2899469 for SharePoint Server 2013 October 14, 2014:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2014/10/14/october-2014-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
    I installed the http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2899469 hotfix, and now I can search and open files on external file shares with path and filenames containing non-US-ASCII characters,
    without getting "This page can’t be displayed".
    Where in the description of this hotfix is written, that it solves the encoding issue?

  • Encoding the URL request

    Could you plz assist me how encode the URL request that is getting from the client.The query about discarding a session is as follows
    (1)What will happened when employing invalidate() method of a session.
    (2) What is the distinguishing of invalidate() and logout if both has performed that all of the user's session will have been expired if we invoke anyone

    Making some guesses here.
    The invalidate() method does what it says: it invalidates the session. Most HttpSessionMethods will throw an IllegalStateException if called on an invalid session.
    There is no method or event that causes a "logout". It's something you have to do programmatically using the invalidate() method. Or the session could timeout in which case also it becomes invalid ( which is basically done by the container as opposed to you calling invalidate() )
    About URL encoding: do you mean URL rewriting which appends a session id to the URL to be used in case cookies are disabled? Then you need encodeURL() and encodeRedirectURL(). Working with the session with rewriting of URLs is exactly the same for you ( in your code ) as it is normally.
    If you mean making a safe URL, you need URLEncoder: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/net/URLEncoder.html
    I hope I got something right here.

  • URLs with spaces

    I know that's a contradiction in terms but here is my problem. My database contains large numbers of 'URLs' with spaces in them reflecting where the corresponding files actually are in the file system. In the longer term I can get them converted to use %20 but in the meantime I have the problem that h:outputLink translates the spaces into +. I'm just wondering if there's something in JSF that will turn them into %20 for me? ... other than fn:replace() which I guess is not a bad alternative ...
    Thanks in advance.

    SharePoint is a Document Management system which is designed to be user-friendly. Naming all documents in your site farm with no spaces makes the document titles difficult to read for the end users. I agree that, programatically, no spaces is good, but unfortunately,
    systems are used by human beings. So even though your suggestion has been marked as an answer, it's not really a solution is it?
    The solution I came up with that solved my instance of this problem was to add a text column to the List I was working with, then put some JavaScript in the NewForm.aspx file that copies the file name into the text file and the applies an "encodeURI" to
    convert the word spaces into %20 ...
    So when I create a new item in my list, the JavaScript takes the file name, converts the spaces to %20, then copies the string into the text field in the list. When I build the WorkFlow Email, instead of concating the file name into a URL, I use the text
    field that pulls out (for example) "my%20file" and adds the pre-amble (http://myserver/path/) and the suffix (.pdf) and I have a working URL ...
    The full solution is posted at
    my blog ...

    arr[0] = "/bin/rm"

    We've seen this bug on machines running IE6 with a certain security patch (I forget its number). There's a thread in the Metalink reports forum about it. It appears to be somewhat tied to another problem where IE runs the report twice (you can see that in Showjobs. You're seeing the problem in 6i; I believe it persists in 9i.
    The workarounds are (1) set Acrobat so it doesn't open within IE or (2) switch to a different browser, like Netscape. For workaround 1, Start Acrobat Reader, Choose File -> Preferences -> General, Uncheck Web Browser Integration
    There's some evidence that it occurs more often with urls that include single quote characters. I think it's worse with XP, but I don't have any proof.
    If you check Adobe's site, you will see this isn't just an Oracle Reports problem. I think we're waiting for Microsoft on this one, so don't hold your breath for a quick fix.

  • How can we hide the URL with Webdispatcher after SSO redirect

    Repost in correct forum
    We have setup SSO with Kerberos and SPNEGO for NWBC and now we want to expose it to the internet via SAP Webdispatcher.
    NWBC is on a singelstack ABAP system on server1 and we have configured a standalone J2EE system on server 2 for isuing the saplogon ticket.
    This works fine with the redirect from icf NWBC -> Error Pages -> Logon Error -> Redirec to URL (Form Fields) http://server2:port/redirect/redirect.jsp
    on server2 we have a java application (redirect/redirect.jsp) witch has %response.sendRedirect("http://server1:port/nwbc")%
    Problem is that when the webdispatcher calls http://server1:port/nwbc the URL in the browser is hidden with MYDOMAIN.COM/nwbc but when the Logon-error (no saplogon ticket yet) is redirecting to  http://server2:port/redirect/redirect.jsp the browser is showing the actual URL http://server2:port/redirect/redirect.jsp and also when returning to NWBC the browser is showing http://server1:port/nwbc.
    And we don't wan't to expose hostnames (server1 and server2) to the internet.
    I got this answer:
    This question belongs to the SAP NetWeaver Application Server space, this space is for NWSSO topics only, the separately licensed product from SAP.
    Regarding your question you have to configure Web Dispatcher for both AS JAVA and AS ABAP and refer to Web Dispatcher URLs only. That includes ICF node configuration and the redirect servlet. The URL generation in AS ABAP needs to be configured so that URLs are generated to point to the Web Dispatcher. Use table HTTPURLLOC for that.
    But how do I set up webdispatcher for both ABAP http://server1:port/nwbc (this is working fine before SSO config.) and JAVA http://server2:port/redirect/redirect.jsp?
    This is my profile on webdispatcher:

    You can use Web Dispatcher for multiple systems, in your case one AS ABAP and one AS JAVA. See the documentation, Implement one webdispatcher for multiple systems - Basis Corner - SCN Wiki and Name-based virtual hosts and one SAP Web Dispatcher to access multiple SAP systems.

  • Reading Contents of URL with Spaces in its Path (+other odd characters)

    Hi, I am looking for a way to get the contents of a webpage that has a pathname with odd characters in it. Here is my "contents reader":
        public static String getURLContents(URL u){
            try {
                Scanner scan = new Scanner((InputStream)u.getContent());
                String output = "";
                while (scan.hasNextLine()) {
                    output += scan.nextLine()+"\n";
                return output;
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                System.out.println(ex);
                return null;
        }I have here selected exception output from two tests on the same URL, which has spaces. First, nicely formatted spaces (" "->%20)
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://www.publichealthalert.org/articles/tinagarcia/jemsek%20part%201.htm
    and Secondly, raw spaces:
    java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 400 for URL: http://www.publichealthalert.org/articles/tinagarcia/jemsek part 1.htm
    The second example is obvious - there's spaces, and that's not the right way of doing things. But what's going on in the first example??
    Thank you kindly,
    K

    This exception merely means that the URL itsn't reachable on the given domain. It's actually a 404 error.

  • How to hide dynamic parameters values in the URL with Reports 6i

    Hi,
    I want to know a way of hiding the parameters values when asking for a report through the web.
    Now I'm using the Reports 3.0.5.8 with a Cartridge defined in the Oracle Web Application Server 3.0.1.0.1. When you ask for a report with the parameters DESTYPE = cache and DESFORMAT = pdf, it is fully generated and in the Address or Location box of the browser, you can see http://webserver/cache/report.pdf (where cache is the virtual directory defined in the OWAS in which the .pdfs are cached). So, users cant see the Url used to generate the report.
    Im trying to upgrade this configuration to Reports 6i with Cgi in a web server. I generate reports with no problems. The problem I have is I cant find how to hide the parameters values as before. I mean, when I ask for a report, once its generated I can see http://webserver/cgi-bin/rwcgi60.exe?server=ServerName&report=report.rdf&userid=user/pass@connection&destype=cache&desformat=pdf&P1=value1&P2=value2 in the Location box. It allows user to ask for another report changing the values of the parameters. I use these parameters to execute some query written in the Data Model. For example, imagine that the P1 represents the company id, the user (that is supposed to see only data of its company) can change this id, ask for a new report and see data of another company.
    Ive already tried to use the key mapping option, but its not useful to me because the parameters values are dynamic and its impossible to define different entries in the cgicmd.dat for each possible value. The option of loading the parameter form before running a report is not useful to me either, because there exists specific screens for this purpose.
    Is there any solution?
    Thank you.

    Hi Rakesh,
      I am using BI  7.0
    The last option I have is 'Hide' for 'Calculate single values as' .
    I have the below options  for 'Calculate single values as'
    1. Normalise  according to Next group  level  Resul.
    2. Normalize according to  Overall Result
    3. Rank number
    4.Olympic Rank Number

    8.Counter for all detailed values that are non zero
    9.Moving average

    11. Hide.
    So could you please tell me where i can find 'suppress result' option for the keyfigure .

  • HOW TO CONSTRUCT THE URL WITH INTRADOCUMENT LINKS (#...)?

    I have a url and i want to access or construct the full URL in jsp without losing the # links in the url. If I make a call to the URL lets say using the below mentioned way. when I issue the request.get... Methods to construct the URL inside the JSP page the #doclink were lost. The issue I have is people who have bookmarked a page like this should be automatically taken to that part of the document where the intra document link is define (or book mark link) using anchor tag.
    Is there any method or technique available to get the full url including the #doclink
    http://www.blahblah.com/blah.jsp?pg=/path/otherpath/blah.html#doclink
    is there a way to do it.
    You help in this regard will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks.

    Hey thanks for your reply, I want how can I retain the #doclink in a JSP page without losing it when someone types something like the below mentioned in the browser address bar. If they have bookmarked it this way, this is the way the browser is going to make the request.
    http://www.blahblah.com/blah.jsp?pg=/path/otherpath/blah.html#doclink
    So, inside the JSP page, getRequestURL, getRequestURI, and getQueryString, helps me reconstruct the URL but the #doclink gets missed. I can use the URLEncoding when it's inside the HREF or something, but when called from a browser the above way, I cant do anything really.
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

  • How can I calculate the characters with spaces in a document on pages

    I'm currently using pages to write my personal statement up on, although i need to keep my characters including spaces under 4000 characters and also have no more than 47 lines. I've found how to do a word count and find how many charcaters I've used, but i can't see anywhere the information that I actually need to find! Someone please help, thankyou

    How can you calculate the number of lines if you don't know how many characters there are to a line?
    This is 2013. We are using word processors with real fonts, not terminals or teletypers or typewriters.
    If you must have 47 lines then shrink the point size of the font until it fits.

  • What's the point with Spaces?

    I use F9 very frequently to see which windows/how many windows are open. Works great! So why bother with this new "great" app called Spaces? What's the point?

    Reasons for me include to help me focus by reducing visual clutter and organise running applications by task.
    I've just recently discovered there is a single application mode for the dock. (Is this Leopard only? I'll kick myself if it was in Tiger!) This can be a good alternative to spaces as it's visual clutter that bothers me most. To easily enable this install the freeware Secrets http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27025
