Encoding the URL request

Could you plz assist me how encode the URL request that is getting from the client.The query about discarding a session is as follows
(1)What will happened when employing invalidate() method of a session.
(2) What is the distinguishing of invalidate() and logout if both has performed that all of the user's session will have been expired if we invoke anyone

Making some guesses here.
The invalidate() method does what it says: it invalidates the session. Most HttpSessionMethods will throw an IllegalStateException if called on an invalid session.
There is no method or event that causes a "logout". It's something you have to do programmatically using the invalidate() method. Or the session could timeout in which case also it becomes invalid ( which is basically done by the container as opposed to you calling invalidate() )
About URL encoding: do you mean URL rewriting which appends a session id to the URL to be used in case cookies are disabled? Then you need encodeURL() and encodeRedirectURL(). Working with the session with rewriting of URLs is exactly the same for you ( in your code ) as it is normally.
If you mean making a safe URL, you need URLEncoder: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/net/URLEncoder.html

SharePoint Search encodes the URL incorrectly when there are special characters in a filename on a file share

In our Sharepoint Server 2013 CA, Search Administration, Content Sources, we have configured a File Share Content Source.
Search queryes works fine and it returns relevant documents from the file share content source.
But when click on a file with a filename that contains special characters like "ÁÝÚÍÓÐ", Sharepoint encodes the link to the file incorect, and when we click on the link to the file, it throws an error on the screen saying "This
page can’t be displayed".
The following picture shows an example on how Sharepoint shows encodes the URL to a file with a special character in the filename:
As you can see, the link to the file is
\\xserver1\felagstest\Kompliserað\Ólavur.pdf, but when I hoover over the file, it translates og encodes this to
\\xserver1\Felagstest\KompliseraÃ°\Ã“lavur.pdf. If I manually type the correct link in the address field in Internet Explorer then it works.
What is the problem here, and more importently what is the solution to this problem?

I installed the http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2899469 hotfix, and now I can search and open files on external file shares with path and filenames containing non-US-ASCII characters,
without getting "This page can’t be displayed".
Where in the description of this hotfix is written, that it solves the encoding issue?

Why my Dreamweaver CS6 encodes the URL php on MM_goToURL ?

I have a problem with dreamweaver CS6 because when I use this function MM_goToURL, my dreamweaver encodes the php var, i don't know why, I have my preference well.. I don't know if it is a bug from dreamweaver. i'm using template form dreaweaver.

and later when I go to update the template look the url on the function MM_goToURL, this change dreamweaver CS6 encode it

Check your Preferences.
Ctrl + U or Cmd + U (on Mac OS) > Code Rewriting > Check URL encoding. Ensure it is set to 'Do not encode special characters'.

Encode the URL with space

Hi all
Ihave some content which needs to be encode with the URL..
E.G:
URL is --http://localhost:8080/appname/notify?
content need to encode---msgtxt=bal P0045IN
I am using HttpConnector.executeGetMethod(URL_BAL, URLParameters);
But it giving Error called Sattus 505 error means http version not supported.
What i find till now is its not allowing "SPACE"

i am using org.apache.commons.httpclient.util.EncodingUtil to encode.
when i debug it gives right URL but not Hits the that application giving Http version not supported.
if i copy that URL and paste it In IE ,its working bur from my application not working
I tried with %20 also, but it giving 404 error

How to Decode the urls in web application

I am encoded the url in jsp by using the URLEncoder.encode()
method like <% String msg=URLEncoder.encode("string");How can i decode this one without using URLDecoder.decode().
My Actual Requirement is if i encoded any url which is present in any form like <html:form action="url">.actually this url is mapped in struts-config file. In the address bar how can i get the encoded url.If any body gives the solution highly appriciated.

From the workflow when you create the link, also add the proposal number as an url parameter.
For example if the url for requesting WD application is <WD_URL>, then URL with parameter would be
<WD_URL>?PROPOSAL_NO=<actual_proposal_number>
In the webdynpro, you can access this parameter with the following piece of code(ideally in wdDoInit of component controller).
String proposalNo = WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter().getRequestObject().getParameter("PROPOSAL_NO");

Open url request from PopUpManager

Hi,
I have a function which opens a new browser window with the result of a URL request (an image). I wonder if I can do the same but with a window "embedded" in the flash application.
I saw there is a class called PopUpManager. I understood that I have to create a new component ("popup") with the data for the new window. The problem is that I don't know how to pass the result of the URL request to that popup component.
Is it possible at all? Is there any other alternative?

Yep cool with the PopUpManager.centrePopUp.
As for saving an image. You can save graphics from Flex by specifiying a rectangular region you want to save. You can save the selected region out as a jpg or a png using the encoders. In the example below I have saved out an image.

Problems with pluses for spaces in the url

Hi,
Before we updated our OAS with the daylight savings time patches, we used to be able to access our portal pages that had spaces in their names using the + sign, e.g.:
http://example.com/portal/page/portal/mypagegrp/Policy+and+Objectives
This is standard url escaping for spaces.
Now, it only accepts %20 as space, e.g.
http://example.com/portal/page/portal/mypagegrp/Policy%20and%20Objectives
If I use the plus url, it complains that it can't find the content.
The problem arose because we have a portlet that generates links to some of our content pages, and it uses the standard java URLEncoder.encode method to encode the urls. I'd prefer not to have to hack my own url encoder to work around a OAS url parser bug.
Any ideas?

Yes this certainly a bug, as using the latest versions of Adobe's CS4 and the latest OS really should solve problems, not create them. We're not asking for legacy support here!
After reading several related posts, it looks like running DW CS4 as Administrator seems to fix the problem here. This obviously won't help the people that don't have the option to do that though.
For those interested, right click your Dreamweaver CS4 icon, select Properties, click the Compatibility tab, and check the box beside "Run this program as an Administrator".

You actually want the referrer? You can obtain it from the request headers as follows:String referrer = request.getHeader("referer"); // Yes, with the legendaric misspelling in there.Having said that, be aware that the client has full control over what he sends with the request headers. So the client can change/spoof/remove the referrer entry to his taste anytime. Your code should not rely that much on it, it should rather be used for statistics only.

I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be. Please help if you can.

I also had similar issue couple of months back when I was trying to access a remote URL from a Windows service when the site does not exists in the server where service resides.
You cannot access a remote url (even though it is SharePoint server and also in same network ) from server object model.
SPSite can look in the current server only. here what is happening is SPSite will look for this in the current server DB and it is not finding this errror.
So please dont use ServerObject model for accessing remote sites. You can use Client Object model for the code /requirement you have stated above.
I wasted lot of time in finding a work around to make to work. It did not. So look for other options.

It works in httpd.conf, but does NOT work in ssl.conf

Res.getPathTranslated() does not return correct URL of the page requested

The res.getPathTranslated() statement in the below code (in doFilter method) does not return the correct URL of the requested webpage.
Whenever a web page is accessed using a return statement (eg : return "nextPage"; ) inside a button's action method or a hyperlink's action method, the res.getPathTranslated() returns the URL of the current webpage instead of returning the URL of the webpage that is actually requested.
For example if there is a button on the page http://localhost:29080/MyJaas/faces/firstPage.jsp
And the button_action() is as follows
button_action()
return "nextPage";
The res.getPageTranslaged() returns "http://localhost:29080/MyJaas/faces/firstPage.jsp" instead of "http://localhost:29080/MyJaas/faces/nextPage.jsp"
However, if the webpage is requested by populating the URL property of the hyerlink in creator IDE, the res.getPathTranslated() returns the correct (requested) web page.
How to make res.getPathTranslagted() return the correct URL when the webpage is accessed from hyperlink's / button's action method?

How can a servlet determine the exact requesting URL

This seems like a simple question, but I cannot find a solution. I am wondering how a servlet can determine the exact requesting URL that invoked the servlet. Specifically, I am having trouble making my servlet determine if the port number was specified or not. I am using session tracking, and my web server (by default) produces two separate sessions when hitting https://myserver.com/myservlet and https://myserver.com:443/myservlet.
I have tried to use the HttpUtils.getRequestURL(), but this function seems to assume that if you used https over port 443, that you DID NOT specify 443 in the URL.

If your servlet container implements servlet 2.2 or better, try the request.getRequestURL() method. It should return everything that was originally entered for the request address at the client except the query string (use request.getQueryString() to get that).
I am not sure how it handles the port number for specifically entered vs not specifically entered.

I'm attempting to connect to Essbase from Visual Studio 2005 with the use of the DataServer component.
I'm using a URL;
http://<myserver>:13080/aps/APS
This URL seems to be valid if I plug it into a browser in that it returns a page listing the following information;

However.... when I try to connect using the DataServer I'm shown the same error message as beofre except for the change of URL. Can you remember if there were any other settings that needed to be made?
I've also noticed the line above ' EDSUrl=http://localhost:11080/eds/EssbaseEnterprise (optional) ', this says 'the page cannot be displayed' if i try to access it from the habnet machine but I'm really not sure if this is relevant or not.
