Encore Playback Half Resolution

I have just Encore CS6 to preview on my secondary monitor so I can do my subtitles. However I notice that the playback is not in full resolution. When I pause it goes full res. So where do I toggle to keep this full resolution coz I need my clients to preview the subtitles to make sure they are in sync?
This is a Dynamic Link PP CS6 sequence (1920 x 1080i)
Thank you.

Preferences->General and change the Playback quality to High.
I think that should improve the playback quality.

  • Failed render upon selecting "Full Resolution", but "Half Resolution" renders are successful

I'm trying to render a comp at Best Quality+ Full Resolution. It begins rendering but it always fails at 00:00:09. When I render at Best Quality+ Half Resolution the whole comp renders successfully– no issues whatsoever.
Also when I RAM preview at Full Res, it only previews the first 9-10 frames. When I RAM Preview at Half-Res, it previews the entire comp successfully.
I also tried rendering a Full-Res comp from a completely different project file and it works fine on my machine.  So the problem seems to be related to this particular project file.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
So far I have tried all of these things in order to troubleshoot:
    - from ae, click edit>purge>all, then try the render.
    - restart ae, then try again
    - from the memory & caches preference, clear all caches, then try the render.
    - reboot the machine, then try ae.
    - run disk utility (applications/utilities) and repair permissions.
    - remove the ae prefs file (users/username/library/preferences/adobe/after effects/version#/adobe after effects (ver) prefs)
    - reboot the machine, then try ae.

Turns out that FL Depth of Field is the culprit! I'll just have to re-create the look with a different blur effect. Thanks for the quick responses guys!

  • Portege R700 - Issues with video playback with resolution over 360p

I've got this video playback issue from day one. While for instance on YouTube, videos with resolution above 360p freeze up while the sound is ok.
I've contacted Toshiba through which I got a linke to the latest bios and drivers. After the upgrade issue persists. I sometimes get a green screen while watching flash video as well. I'm guessing this is a graphic card hardware issue. Any ideas? Thanks! (Portege R700 19L, win7 pro 64)

    Hello
Have you tried watching videos in high performance mode and tested different Internet browsers?

  • MSI AT Radeon X1300 and LG W3000H FPD half resolution problem

    Hi All gurus,
I have a big trouble. I have bought an LG monitor, 30" with DVI-D dual link interface.  I have an MSI, ATI Radeon X1300 based board.  That board is supposed to support the native 2560 x 1600 resolution, but it does not.  All I get the half of it: 1280 x 800.  I have tried to install all sorts of drivers, ATI original, MSI, Omega etc.  Nothing helps.  Reading up on the topic suggests that my card actually does not support DVI-D Dual Link, because some functionality is disabled: the ATI chip would support it, but some other chip between it and the DVI connector dumbs it down.  But, I am still hoping, since the official MSI page for the card says it does indeed support my resolution...
My question/request is: Could you help me to find out what is the problem, and fix it?

Please don't bump topics. >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<
Have you tried installing the monitor drivers?

  • Half Resolution Quick Answers Required Please!

    Hi there,
I have just got to 78% on exporting a project from Premiere CS6 ready for Encore and have just realised I have left the preview setting in premiere at 1/2 resolution. Will this affect my export?
I would appreciate if someone can answer this pretty quickly as I have got an hour and 20mins left to encode.
    Many thanks
    Wayne

It will not affect the export.

  • RED footage playback / paused resolution

    Hey there,
Here's the situation: I have my playback and paused resolution set at 1/16 in order to work comfortably with RED footage. It works perfectly.
However, when I drag a clip in the timeline, and go near another clip, the PROGRAM window converts into a 2-screened edit-type display. And in this mode, the resolution pumps up to FULL res, making the program slow, and hampering all that nice flow that low resolution affords.
Is this a bug, or have I forgotten to click something somewhere?
    Thanks!

I'm not seeing that here.  With all the media I have, it stays at the resolution where I put it.  I do not have any RED media for testing, though.

  • Photos half resolution during transition?

I am cutting some photos into my project.
Whenever i apply a dip to color transition effect (or fade) The photo is half rez during the transition and looks bit mapped- then snaps to full rez once the transition is complete.
    what could be causing this?

Have you rendered the transition? Select the transition and type Command + R.
If you render it and it still looks poor, double check your render settings by clicking anywhere on the time line and type Command + 0 (zero) to see the sequence settings.
In the sequence settings window that opens click on the Render Control tab and make sure the resolution is set to 100% and the Codec is set to same as Sequence.

  • Text graphics are not clean in Encore playback

I have a project that is all text graphic from a PowerPoint and no matter how I put them into Encore, they don't play back clean. I have made PNG, PSD, JPG and I even redid all the text in Premier Pro. All the same results. I have done this many times before but now nothing seems to work. Looking for answers.

Where can I look for that?

  • Preview file rendering halfs the resolution

    Hi,
I have a problem with Premiere Pro preview files: their horizontal resolution is only half of the set resolution. This is seen in the Program window both when playing back and stopped (playback resolution and paused resolution are both Full). If the clip hasn't been rendered for preview, the resolution is full. Just when rendering the preview, the horizontal resolution gets half. I'm using Apple ProRes as te preview codec (I do not want to use MPEG for its bad quality). Why is this happening? I need to have the full resolution for playback with ProRes codec, but how can I get the full resolution? Please, help!
My Sequence Settings are (for instance):
    Settings
    Editing Mode: Custom
    Timebase: 25.00 frames/second
    Video
    Frame Size: 1920 x 1080 16:9
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
    Fields: No Fields (Progressive Scan)
    Display Format: 25fps Timecode
    Audio
    Sample Rate 48000 Hz
    Display Format: Audio Samples
    Video Previews
Preview File Format: QuickTime (Desktop) / (GammaCorrection: Automatic)
    Codec: Apple ProRes 422
    Width: 1920
    Height: 1080
Maximum Bit Depth (not checked)  Maximum Render Quality (not checked)

It looks to me like an "aliasing" problem.  I am suggesting you search ( google, speak to other users using the same workflow you are, etc. ) about " aliasing " problems with your display of rendered pro res 422 files.  If you focus on 'aliasing' issue, instead of calling it half resolution and so on, it probably will address your problem faster because people with that problem will know what you mean.
I posted this earlier and gives a hint what I am referring to.
    http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/1007725
I am wondering if in the render of the source ( pro res 422 render ) you are losing that color information indicated by the " 2 ".  As you dont experience problem using animation and pro res 444, that is my guess.. that you are losing the color info...hence the problem of aliasing.
What blows my mind though , is that you don't see the aliasing when you go to AE with the same rendered file.  That is just downright weird.
I don't know if you want to actually solve the problem ( find out why this is happening really )... or if you are just fixated on blaming the software for something you want to work differently.  I think solving the problem may involve doing some more steps on your part.  For example, have you taken the rendered file ( or ftp to someone etc ) to another computer like yours... to see if they also see the same thing ?
If they don't see the same thing, if it is OK on their computer, then maybe it's your graphic card or graphic card 'settings' causing the problem.
Have you spoken to anyone at an apple store about this ? They may have heard of this problem from other users... and if you have a store nearby, you can take the rendered file there and see if it looks OK on their computer.
I do wish you luck finding out whats going on, and am personally interested in what you find out ( which is why I keep looking at this thread ). I know lots of people who use pro res and also use it on motion picture 'sets' while shooting... at the DIT station or at video playback, to look at basic playbacks ( usually with some basic color correction etc , like rec709 or whatever )...So what you want to do is actually being done, but I just moved to MN from nyc and dont work in movie biz anymore and dont want to get involved with hooking you up via ftp to some local 600 people.
First step I think is for you to keep an open mind and start dealing with the aliasing issue and try to see if others see the same thing on similar machine as yours.
Or else think of some other way to solve the problem... cause nobody else I know has ever seen this or I would have heard of it I think.
Also, this is a users forum, not adobe technical support... have you called them ?  So please be patient with users here trying to help you, as we are just people who try to help when we can and don't work for adobe.
Thanks and good luck, and please let us know what you find out cause this problem is very weird.

  • Urgent - 7D Footage Loading at Half Res

I need help ASAP. I am working on a project and I opened in After Effects CS5.5. My footage is resolution in After Effects is 960x540 but if I open it elsewhere it is 1920x1080. Why is this happening and how do I import the footage so it is at its proper resolution?
When I import the footage into Premiere I do not have this problem, only when I import it into After Effects.
    Thanks.

This is a known problem with some QT and AVI formats. When you view the file and the player is set to half resolution (or some other resolution) and you close the file, a meta tag of sorts is added to the file that gives the playback size. AE reads that tag and incorrectly assumes that the last viewed frame size is the frame size of the file. In some cases all you have to do is to open the file in QT, change the viewing options to full screen, than close the file. In other cases you have to have QT Pro installed so you can actually save the file.
I've found that sometimes all you have to do is to scale up the footage in AE because the pixels are all still there and scaling up the mis interpreted footage does not cause a quality loss. You might want to give that a try. Just scale up your footage to 200% and see what it looks like.

  • Troubleshooting dropped frames on playback FCP 5, Tiger G5

for some reason i keep getting dropped frames on playback after upgrading everything to tiger and fcp 5...
i'm working off of a lacie d2 firewire 800 drive on a dual 2.0 G5 with 2.5 GB of RAM..
even when i change the playback settings to dynamic or even medium and half resolution ... i still get dropped frames during effects like variable time.
has anybody else had this problem? perhaps i'm missing some optimization i should have done in tiger??
    any suggestions?
    thanks.

thought i'd post some of what i found out...
    1) turning off my airport card has seemed to help a bit
-perhaps because dashbord is always running in the background (is there a way to disable this?)
    2) turning off adobe version cue also seemed to help

  • How to change render resolution of After Effects project in Adobe Media Encoder for an H264 preview?

I'd like to render a 1080i comp at half resolution or third resolution in AME to speed up render times for low-res previews. I just had a low-res H264 preview take 5 minutes to encode in AE, and 28 minutes in AME.
This is easily accomplished in the After Effects render settings. However, the "video" option in AME seems to imply the project is encoded at that resolution, not rendered at it.
I went into AE and changed the setting in the composition viewport to "half", but when I queue it up in AME, the "Match Source" button still indicates 1080.
What is the correct method to get the results I want?
I'm currently using AE CC and AME CC on Windows.

Thanks for taking the time to answer this question. Knowing this isn't possible at least narrows my options down. It would be helpful to provide some kind of list of what comp settings carry over into AME from After Effects. Is it essentially everything that is enabled in the Timeline? (I know that motion blur settings do.)
I'll put this in a feature request, but yes, we need the other half of After Effects Render Queue in AME in order for AME to be a good replacement for rendering from AE. I'll give you my thoughts on why Render Settings are essential before you would actually want to render with AME instead of doing so because you have to (either because you want to render in the background, or need a codec that has been removed from AE.)
    1. Speed: Simply applying a Render Settings preset is much faster than manually setting motion blur, frame blending, work area, etc.
    2. Reliability: Not being able to apply a Render Settings preset at the time of render is a recipe for missing a crucial setting buried in a comp, then having to redo a render and wasting time.
    3. Features: As noted above, there is no way to approximate Render Queue's ability to change resolutions at render, which results in a lot of wasted time when that feature is needed.
Render Settings I think are crucial to making AME rendering worthwhile for AE users:
    1. Rendering resolution
    2. Work Area/Entire Composition toggle
    3. Field Rendering (wait, does this mean AME can't currently render to fields?)
    4. And PRESET ability these settings, so I'm not doing them manually every time.
I realize that your team clearly doesn't spend the same amount of time I do making low res H264 previews and sending final files out in H264 format, so you don't appreciate the impact of the changes you made. Moving to AME for that stuff is a real inconvenience, but implementing the settings above could help soften the blow.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

  • Low resolution renders in layer

Having a problem in Motion - where I have 5 different layers in my timeline, within each layer numerous image and motion video items.
One layer, The first layer I created actually, will only render in low reslution, image or video. Whenever I add a new video asset to that layer in question, it is rendered on screen at about half resolution - even though my project is set to full resolution view. This happens whether it is in the being viewed timeline or if I export via QuickTime.
The other 4 layers renders everything with no issues - in timeline, via export, etc.
I have my project set to full resolution view - am I missing somthing - is there a way to toggle resolution of layers - or is this a bug of some kind?
    Thanks! ~Bri

    Hi Patrick -
    No filters on any layer.
Fixed resolution is off on all layers. 720 x 480 on project, layers.
The piece zooms in and out - I will start and 100% and zoom into about 500 (for example, you see a small video, motion simulates camera zoom to reveal full frame video.) Layer still looks low res when at 100%.

  • ActiveX RDP Fullscreen Resolution

This is not a question, but a very simple solution to a problem that had us scratching our heads for quite a while.  Hopefully this will save someone else some time figuring it out.
We use the Clientless SSL VPN with a terminal server for our general remote access for users, and have been using the ActiveX RDP plugin with full screen very successfully for quite a few years.  But on many new laptops (including the Surface Pros) with a high resolution we were having issues where it would no longer show full screen, it would be about 75% of the screen, which many users complained about.
We finally tracked the issue down to an IE/Javascript issue.  The ActiveX plugin uses Javascript to detect the current screen resolution to determine what is needed for the full screen option, but IE will incorrectly report back the resolution based on the level of zoom on the page.  Essentially, if you were at 200% zoom, you would get half resolution on the screen.  On these devices IE defaulted to 150% zoom.  The solution is as simple as changing the zoom to 100%.
    Hope this helps someone.
    -Brian

    Brian,
Can you let us know what versions you use on the following:
    - ASA Code
    - Windows versions
    - IE Versions
We're having problems getting the IE ActiveX connection to work at all with the client-less vpn. The java client works fine with all browsers that we've tested on.
    Thanks.

  • Anyone experienced with scaling flash projectors to large resolutions?

I have interesting project that I'm hoping won't become a nightmare. I'm building a kiosk for a client that will have a rather simple Flash application running it. The catch is that it is spread across 4 widescreen monitors.
I'm planning to have the 4 monitors as a spanned desktop so it appears to Windows as one large desktop, not 4 separate monitors. This way when the flash movie is set to full screen it will stretch across all 4 screens and not just one.
My first thought is can a Flash movie even have a resolution that big? The answer is no, they are limited to a stage size of roughly 4000pixels. OK, no problem, I'll just build it at half resolution and just let it scale up when it goes fullscreen.
Now my current worry is just how well will it run with a potential screen resolution of 5760x900 or 6720x1050? The application is pretty simple, an animated character walking across the screen and waving, a couple of objects animated in the background, maybe some confetti or firework particles as a celebration when they get to the other end of the screen. Other than that, no real complicated processing going on. It seems like it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm still nervous about how smooth it will run at that huge of a resolution.
I've got a Dual Core 3 Ghz processor, 2 Gigs of RAM, and 2 GeForce 9500 GT 512MB video cards to run the kiosk... pretty beefy machine to run nothing but a simple Flash application right?
So, any opionions or insight from anyone who may have put together any sort of project dealing with large resolution displays like this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jaysin

Automated volume adjustment isn't an absolute thing. I've found that iVolume works OK, but is by no means completely accurate and can't always truly balance the levels. I've found to be better than trying to adjust hundreds of tracks manually, but some tracks still are louder or softer than others.
    Just a couple of notes:
    - iVolume can't adjust copy-protected tracks. These will be flagged in the windows as it goes.
    - Make sure the pulldown menu for "Adjustment" is set to "Adjust Automatically" and "Albums" to "Adjust Each Song Separately"
and in the iVolume Preferences set it to reset manual adjustments and that the Start button is set as appropriate for your needs. I just leave it on "all tracks".
    Regards.
