Encore won't import markers with bluray vid output from Premiere through Media Encoder

I have a sizeable video project, just completed, that needs to be output to DVD and BluRay.  DVDs are done, no problem - the three timelines are each exported from Premiere by queueing them in Media Encoder. Side-car .xmp files are produced containing the chapter markers, and it all imports into Encore without issue, chapter markers are there, DVD burns successfully, works on DVD players, all good.
Now for the Blurays.... Same process as before, queueing the same timelines in Media Encoder, this time exporting using the H264 BluRay HD1080i 25 preset, the export works fine, no issues or error messages, but mporting into into Encore (using Import as Asset, Import as Timeline, etc), I get the error:
"Error parsing MPEG metadata file. Deleting or renaming "E:\YourVid\test.m4v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost."
In other words, the markers file is either failing to export crrectly from Media Encoder, or failing to import correctly into Encore, or both.
I have never had this problem before, but this is the first exporting I have done with the latest versions of Premiere and Media Encoder, ie versions:
Premiere CC: 2014.1 8.1.0 (81) Build
Media Encoder CC: 2014.1 Build 8.1.0.122
Encore CS6: Version 6.0.2.004
... on Win 7 Pro 64bit
Can anyone help?  Are other people having this problem?  Is this a bug with the latest version of Media Encoder and/or Premiere, or is it just co-incidence and something else is the problem?  And most importantly, is there a sensible workaround (ie other than just re-making all the chapter markers in Encore?) Can I export the chapter markers from Premiere into Encore some other way?
Please help!!!

Well, I wanted to play with versions and reverting...
AME version is columns; PR version is rows. The 8.1.0 x 8.1.0 was on my laptop. The rest are desktop, but both are win7. I'm guessing the fault is AME, so I will update AME to 8.1.0 as next step. But no new test till "tomorrow" (even though tomorrow is today!).

Standalone Projector won't work on a Mac when output from Mac Flash 8 Pro
I'm outputting a Mac projector file that will work on my mac computer. However, when I upload it to FTP and download it my mac or another mac, it won't work! What's going on? I've tried adding ".app" to my file and it still won't work. Help!
Here's my set up: Flash 8 Pro on Mac Intel with Mac OS 10.4.11

    Hi,
Does it work if you .zip up the projector and FTP the .zip and then unzip the projector on the other Mac's?  A projector is basically an application.  Applications in Mac's have package contents and resource bundles.  When copying files over the network on Mac's, symbolic links inside the package contents and bundles can get messed up.
    Thanks,

  • Always asynchronous audio if I export an MXFop1a file with 8 channel audio from Premiere 2014.1 for delivery to XDCam HD U1 Sony.

I try now for hours to export an MXF op1a with 8 channel audio from Premiere CC2014.1  and with AME 2014.1 to copy the file on my XDCam drive u1 to a disc.
The file is always asynchronous after 20 or 30 minutes. The project is synchronous and also other codecs are synchronous if I export them. So I think it's a bug...
I use the newest Sony XDCam drivers. Also parts with no audio can't be render with intelligent render. If I use this option, Premiere or AME crashes...
I work on a mac system with 10.8.5 OSX.
Does anybody have the same problems or any ideas to solve my problem...
    Best regards,
    Florian

The following will answer both your questions a) and b).
Click on your master timeline and press cmd+0 (zero) to bring up Sequence Settings, then click on the Audio Outputs tab on the right. Click on the Outputs option and change it to 6. You can leave them as Stereo pairs.
Now, back on your timeline, you need to make sure all your audio is organised so each track. A1, A2, A3, A4 etc has all the relevant media on it.
Then, on the left of the timeline you see the Destination toggle buttons, then you see the Padlocks to lock tracks, then you have the Toggle Auto Select squares. If you right-click on the Toggle Auto Select squares you bring up a little sub-menu, at the top of this list you'll see Audio Outputs, which will show the stereo channels for that particular track. As you've changed the number of Audio Outputs in the Sequence Settings, the list will show: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. You just tick whichever channels you want.
In your case, you have dialogue on the first 4 tracks, no problem, just go down through tracks 1,2,3 and 4 as described above and assign these to Audio Outputs 1&2.
Then just go down through your music and effects audio tracks and assign them accordingly.
Now, when you export your timeline as a self-contained media file, it will have different audio channels.
I hope that makes sense. When you change the number of audio outputs as described in the first step, I believe the rest of it is fairly self explanatory, once you know where the settings are.

  • Why can't I import sound with video into iMovie from digital camera?

This is disturbing. I have a digital video camera that took great video + sound. I import into iMovie (using my DV cable that came with the camera) and get video but no sound.
Now, in the past the sound came in, but no longer. Any and all advise is requested. I have to make number videos of lectures starting Wednesday evening and have to be able to provide video with audio.
    Thanks.

Try importing video shot with the camera's internal
microphone. If that doesn't work either, the mic is
    not the problem.
I have no problem importing sound with video when using the internal video camera mic. No problem (other than sound quality issues with the speaker being 40 feet away from the camera's internal mic!
But I can play back the video made with the external mic in the camera and the sound is stunningly clear, crisp and loud. It's just a matter of getting it out of the camera into my Mac. I don't think it's the microphone; it must be the computer.
I just find it sad to believe that Apple's software is so limited--even in Final Cut Express HD.

  • Premiere CS4 Media Encoder AVIs and Encore Encoding Errors

For some reason, I'm having trouble creating DVD's in Encore from AVI's exported from Premiere CS4. When encoding starts, Encore immediately pops up with an "encoding error". I now, all of a sudden get this identical error on two of our systems.
Most of the time Encore works if I export an "MP2" file from the Premiere CS4 timeline.
Any of you guys having trouble with Encore CS4? To me it has been a lot more buggy and unreliable than any previous version. The program also seems sluggish on our Q6600 4gGB RAM computers! Kind of like the program is straining just to open its windows.
Another thing that is annoying. Earlier in the day, I exported a Flash Web video for a client's review. A few hours later I had to make a 1 hour and 46 minute DVD with chapters for a client that had to be Fed Ex'd overnight. It took forever to complete and I soon realized that Encore defaulted back to the last export...FLASH! cr@p. I would prefer that the program defaulted to standard DVD creation. After all it is Encore DVD.

I'm having major problems with Media Encoder CS4.
When I try to create an AVI file (for example) from a section of my Premiere Pro CS4 timeline, the encoder opens, takes forever to load the project, and then, after I hit start queue button, it again takes forever to load the project in the small window at the bottom of the display.
Finally the "waiting" message in the queue list turns to an orange exclamation mark with the message that encoder "could not read from the source. PLease check if it has been moved or deleted." Which of course it has not been.  THis happens even if I preview the section in advance in Premiere.  material.
If at any point I hit the settings button it simply reloads the project

  • Hilights Clipping Problem with Premiere CS3 Media Encoder

I've just discovered a pretty serious problem with the way Premiere CS3 processes video to the Media Encoder.
Many of you are familiar with the term "super whites", the ability of modern cameras to capture and record levels above 100 IRE. With HDV and newer technology, recording to 109 IRE is quite common.
I was aware for some time that importing this footage into Premiere results in a hard truncation of whites above 100 IRE. However, I discovered last month that the Fast Color Corrector has a Output Levels adjustment that can rescale all the levels to fit down in the 0-100 IRE range. I verified this using the scopes in Premiere and by observing recovered details in my footage. I was even able to export frames to TIFF files and show the recovered highlights in the exported TIFFs. The difference is substantial and not subtle--it's the difference between a sky completely blown to white and one where you can see the sky is blue with clouds in it.
Last night, I discovered that the Unsharp Mask filter doesn't handle footage above 100 IRE, either. Even if I use Levels to set 0-235 RGB range, somehow, Unsharp Mask is processing the un-level-adjusted signal, regardless of stacking order of the filters.
I rendered two Blu-ray discs, one with Unsharp and the other without. To my astonishment, BOTH discs lacked any detail in the highlights--the whites were clipped at 100 IRE!
Now I turned attention to the Media Encoder. Pausing on a frame where I can see the difference between 100 IRE and 109 IRE and shades in between, I fire up the Media Encoder and note that even in ME's previews screens, the whites are already clipped. There is more highlight detail in the program monitor, whereas it's all gone in the Media Encoder's display.
It is obvious that highlight information, even scaled back to 0-235, is being treated as if it were 0-255 and clipped at 235 before passing to the encoder. This is a real disappointment, because there is another half f-stop of detail up there that I was trying to pull into the useable range of 100 IRE for the Blu-ray disc. Since it is very difficult to shoot footage and limit the peak whites in-camera to no more than 100 IRE, nearly all of us are losing valuable picture information.
Even if you can recover the highlights on the timeline through a Levels filter, it gets thrown away again on the way to the Media Encoder. Short of exporting a few hundred thousand frames as .TGA files and then loading those back in and rendering out to whatever motion CODEC, I am at a loss as to how to get Premiere to leave the whites intact.
I haven't seen this issue discussed in any detail here. Has anyone found a way around it, besides reshooting all your footage of one-time events to sub 100 IRE levels?

I'd rather the camera added that extra lattitide within the appropriate 0 to 100 IRE range.
That's a lot like saying you want 10 gallons of water in an 9-gallon jug.
As it is, it looks like such adjustments will need to be done on a clip by clip basis.
Or, you can do it the "Dan" way in AviSynth. I wrote a script function called SoftLimiter: It applies photoshop-style curves on the Y + U + V channels to bring the maximums within legal range… using a sort-of "soft-knee" approach to reducing extreme highlights and/or oversaturated areas.
It causes a tiny bit of posterization in the highlights, just like all 8-bit per channel color adjustments do… but it is hardly noticeable on a computer screen and even less on TVs.
    SoftLimiter for AviSynth 2.5
Create a folder C:\SoftLimiterCurves\ and place the .amp curves files in that folder.
Place the other files in your AviSynth 2.5 / plugins folder.
The example below assumes DV avi files and requires a DV codec (such as Cecocida DV, MainConcept, Canopus) that can read / write in YUV formats.
    Create a script like this:
    AviSource("dv.avi", pixel_type="YUY2")
    SoftLimiter()
Open the script in VirtualDub, use Video / Fast Recompress, Select Cedocida DV codec. File / Save as .avi
    Before:
    After:
And, Jim… you can place your dv2film() command at the end of this script if that's what you're trying to accomplish.

  • Cant correctrly import time remapped clips into AE from Premiere project

In AE CC (12.2.0.52) I am importing a project from Premiere CC 7.2.0 (46). On windows. Using command File-> Import-> Adobe Premiere Pro project.
Those shots in the premiere, which has different from 100% time stretch are importing in AE not correctely (see the third track from the top on the screenshot). In the imported timeline there are: holes, strange size of imported tracks. And there is no any time remap on the imported tracks.
If you do Ctrl + C selection in Premiere and stick it through Ctrl + V in the AE timeline - the same garbage - inserted not correctly.
Who knows where I am wrong in technology?
And is there possibility to import project with already correctly set time "remaps" from Premiere?
(import via Dynamic link - not suitable for me cuz i need all tracks)
    Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem and looking for a solution.
Does anyone know of a solution for this? I think it's a very important feature to have work correctly.
    Thanks,
    Kerry

  • Premiere and Media Encoder CC with Cineform(converted files have static for audio)

    Hi there,
using Media Encoder CC to convert 7D and 5DMKIII video files to Cineform .avi and all I'm getting at the other end for audio is loud static.  Video is fine but audio is corrupt.  Anyone run into this with CC?  I didn't have this problem before CC.

Do you have the same problem with other AVI codecs?  What about non-AVI options?

  • Problem exporting with Premiere Pro/Media Encoder CS4

Hey there. I've got 15-minute long movie edited in Premiere. Whenver I've tried rendering/exporting to see what the final product looks like, Media Encoder will usually freeze up about halfway through encoding. The time estimated/time elapsed will freeze, and if I cancel the encoding the program freezes up.
Other times I will get an error that says "encode failed because the source duration is nil". Not sure what that means, but the render arrows in the work area are never set to zero.
Additionally, I've tried exporting different lengths of the project only to have the same results, with Media Encoder failing each time.
Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?
My footage is in .mp4 format, and I'm also exporting to the same format. I've got numerous music and voiceover files as well. Resolution when exporting is 1280x720, and the max bitrate is 7.0mbps.
It seems more like a software problem than a lack of adaquate hardware, but I'm running a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit with a 2.0 GHz CPU and 8GB of RAM - I'm not sure how to find out what kind of video card I have.
Thanks for any assistance, it is greatly appreciated!

You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Upload problems with Facebook and Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10

I have created a project in HD and am trying to upload to Vimeo.  Premiere Elements 10 does not have a preset so I followed some instructions from the Vimeo website.  Project is "blurry" when viewed.  I checked with Vimeo and they said what they converted matches what I sent so the problem must be in the export - bit rate may be incorrect.  Can anyone give me the correct presets for Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10.  I can view other people's video in HD and they look fine so I don't think it's my computer monitor.   I'm sure you will need more information about my project so please give me a list of specific things you need to know.  Thank you.
My Facebook problem is as follows.  If I use the preset from Premiere Elements 10 to upload to Facebook it looks fine, HD quality as expected.  Problem is, I would like to upload to my business page.  Since the personal page and the business page (managed by my personal account) share a login, the preset always loads to my personal page.  Does anyone know the values of the preset so I can upload the video to my business page.  My business is event and wedding videography so I would like the posts to be as clear as possible.
If the problem with the Vimeo uploads is solved then I suppose I can just share the Vimeo file on Facebook.  Thank you.

    VDRAVES
I think that you are overlooking what you already have with regard to a Vimeo HD preset for export to file for upload of the saved file at the Vimeo website.
    Please see
Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = Vimeo HD
Under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, you can customize the preset further from 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 and increase the bitrate, if necessary, to a level that does not give you a prohibitive file size. With Profile = Main and Level = 3.1, the bitrate range is 0.19 to 14 Mbps (megabits per second).
I would start with the default bitrates of Target = 8 Mbps and Maximium = 9 Mbps and explore and experiment from there.
If you customize the preset to 1920 x 1080 in the Export Settings customization area, then change the Profile to High and the Level to 5.1
When you do that the bitrate range will be 0.19 to 300 Mbps instead of 0.19 to 14 Mbps.
In all cases, watch for file size versus bitrate versus quality of end product.
Please give that a look and then let us know if the above resolves your Vimeo and Facebook question.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with Alt Text output from thumbnail image of Lightbox widget

I’m having a problem with the Lightbox widget not producing alternative text based on the image properties.  I’ve set ALT text for the image properties on both the larger Ligtbox image as well as the thumbnail.  But the HTML output from Muse does not include the ALT text on the thumbnail version of the image.  Here’s an example:
        <div class="popup_anchor">
           <div class="Thumb popup_element clearfix" id="u4409"><!-- group -->
            <a class="anchor_item grpelem" id="untitled"></a>
            <div class="grpelem" id="u4433"><!-- image -->
             <img id="u4433_img" src="/images/n0060292x292.jpg" alt="" width="292" height="292" />
This may be a problem that came in a previous release of Muse.  I have a few older examples where ALT text is produced, but it’s no longer updated if I update the Image Properties.

I'm seeing the same problem. Looks like a bug to me. Any ideas as to how we can get this on Adobe's bug fix list?

  • Is any one else have issues with interactive PDF output from InDesign CC (2014)

I am currently trying to produce a document with a level of interactivity I have achieved many times before.
The interactivity is just a web style menu, show/hide the menu shows button set one, clicking on those shows a second set of buttons, and clicking in one of those goes to destination page and hides all menu buttons once more.
When output from ID CC 2014 the result is loads of missing buttons and no working menu.
Its not a corrupt ID file. I tried a brand new empty file, recreated basic structure with simple one state buttons and achieved similarly useless results.
If I back save using IDML and open in CS5, export from there, it works beautifully, so problem is not as many have been recently, to do with Acrobat browsers.
If I back save and open in InDesign CC (not 2014), export from there, it doesn't work, so problem is shared there!
Anybody any suggestions? Experienced similar and found a cure?
    SOLVED BY A COLLEAGUE:
You can (no longer) use full stops/decimal points in button naming. Menu was hierarchically labelled as 1, (1.1, 1.2), (1.1.1, 1.1.2) etc.
Renamed 1_1, 1_1_2 etc and all functionality has returned. Why you could and now you can't, who knows!
Hope this helps you if you stumble across here with the same issue.

    Thank you for reporting this.
I would consider this a bug in InDesign CC v9.x and v10.x and would report it:

  • Premiere Pro/Media Encoder fail when exporting something with AE linked?

Hey all, I do some video production work for a university, and we're running into some problems when trying to export all the videos from a particularly large course.  We haven't run into this issue before so I'm hoping someone might have knowledge of it and can help me out.
    Here's some background-
I'm trying to export videos, about 20 minutes each.  Each video has an opening sequence and closing sequence that were created in After Effects and are Dynamic linked in the right spots on the timeline.
We're encoding with Vimeo HD 720p 29.97 settings.
Media Encoder gets through one pass seemingly just fine, and then a little after halfway through encoding it stops (doesn't crash, just stops encoding any further) and crashes when attempting to stop the queue.
It's a pain to export from After Effects and re drag in all the sequences, so our workflow keeps all exporting Premiere -> Media Encoder.
EDIT: Can't believe I forgot to mention this- works fine exporting directly from a timeline in Premiere, it's only when Media Encoder is used that issues arise- but it's unfeasible to export 30 videos from the timeline.
EDIT: Done some more testing over the course of the day.  I can add After Effects files to a AME queue and encode them with the Vimeo settings and it makes it through both passes, correctly exporting the videos.  It just doesn't work when those same compositions are exported as linked compositions in a Premiere Pro timeline.
Some things I've tried with no success:
Exporting the After Effects files separately does not work, it hangs even if only exporting the after effects segments.(20 seconds each).
I've turned off CUDA and done software only, still hangs.
I've tried dragging/adding from Media Encoder/any number of different workflows to get the sequences from Premiere to After Effects.
I've tried exporting with different settings: (e.g. non Vimeo HD 720p 29.97), still hangs (doesn't even start encoding, doesn't get halfway).
    Any ideas?

I experienced this at one point.  Searching the WEB I saw suggestions that there was a problem with a recent version of Quicktime.  (I have no idea why the quicktime player would have an impact.)  However, reverting to an earlier version of Quicktime fixed the problem.  Search this board using quicktime as a search phase.  The quicktime web site allows you to download the earlier versions.  I'm not at my editing machine, but I believe that I am at version 7.5.2.

  • Encore won't save project with new filename

I have just rendered a bluray disc image of a project. Now I want to save a version of the project to tweak it specifically for the DVD image, and preserve the bluray project. On the first failed saved I learned in this forum to run Encore as an administrator. Did that, but now Encore just crashes after copying most of the project files. There's enough room on the volume, as I've already corrected after that failed save.
It is a lenghty but not particularly complexly authored project consisting of a 1 hr 26 mins video timeline from a PrPro timeline exported via Adobe Bridge; a short picture gallery rendered in PrPro as an m2v video file; 2 motion and 2 still menus; and English and Japanese subtitles for the long video timeline. As the project developed I had saved progressive versions with unique filenames so I'd have restore points if a file I was working on got corrupted. No problem then.
But now in the final stages of the project I can no longer make an incremental save, Any ideas?

Yes, just a crash. Here's what Windows reports:
Faulting application name: Adobe Encore.exe, version: 6.0.1.13, time stamp: 0x4fb5057e
Faulting module name: MSVCR100.dll, version: 10.0.40219.1, time stamp: 0x4d5f034a

I have been deleting the older projects and their caches to retain disc capacity. But if the current project previews w/o problem and can output a disc image, it must have all it needs as a complete project file, right?

  • Aperture won't import photo with a tilde (~) in filename

I imported my photo library from iPhoto to Aperture (3.0.1) but noticed 533 photos were missing. Even using Import -> Show iPhoto Library, and then dragging the missing Events or photos into Aperture would not work. Aperture was missing some entire iPhoto Events, and then missing some random photos from within other Events.
After staring at it long enough, I finally noticed that all 533 seemingly unrelated photos all have a tilde (~) in their filename. My old Canon handheld (or some old Canon software) automatically put a tilde in the filename of these photos. Although the Aperture import function can see these photos and display their filename (i.e. 102-02~9), Aperture will not import them. When I try to import one of these Events or photos, Aperture creates an empty Project. iPhoto, Finder, and PhotoShop don't have any problems with a tilde, and I don't see any restriction against it in the User Manual.
I had to export these iPhoto photos into a folder, and batch rename them so their filename does not have a "~" in it, and then import them into Aperture. This will keep the EXIF data, but it will strip any keywords -- but those can be added during the import. Although you can batch change titles in iPhoto, I couldn't figure out how to change the iPhoto filename, which seems to be causing the problem.
I submitted an Aperture bug report.

I had to export these iPhoto photos into a folder, and batch rename them so their filename does not have a "~" in it, and then import them into Aperture. This will keep the EXIF data, but it will strip any keywords -- but those can be added during the import.
