Encrypting a field in oracle's table

How can I encript a field in a oracle's table?
thanks for help

Iy you are using Oracle 8.1.6+ database you could use the PLSQL package DBMS_OBFUSCATION_TOOLKIT which provides two procedures for encriptying and decripting.
Look at the manual:
Oracle8i Supplied PL/SQL Packages Reference
Release 2 (8.1.6)
Part Number A76936-01
for details of usage.
Best regards, Marcelo.

  • How to return all field names in a table

    How do you write a report to return all field names in a table? I prefer the field names in a column.
    Thanks
    Wayne

    Hi,
    In Oracle it is,
    Select column_name from user_tab_cols where table_name  = 'Table_Name';
    Note: Table_Name should be in capital letters
    In MS SQL Server it is,
    SELECT Column_Name + ', '
    FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
    WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'Table_Name'
    Hope this helps!

  • How to map lookup main table field in another main table using MDM 7.1?

    We created a new SAP MDM 7.1 repository with multiple main tables.  The first main table is called ProductMaster table which contains Products information.  The ProductCode is the primary key and the only display field for the table during data loading process. The second main table is ProductByRegion table which has a main table lookup field ProductCode and a RegionId field.  These two fields (ProductCode and RegionId) combine as the PK for this main table.  Both main tables have key mapping enabled.
    I was able to load ProductMaster table using Import Manager.  But Iu2019m having trouble to load data into ProductByRegion table using MDM Import Manager.  Although I have met all the 5 requirements below (excerpted from MDM Import Manager Reference Guide P.222), the ProductCode wonu2019t show up on the destination value pane.  If I mapped all productCode to NULL field, ProductCode wonu2019t load.  If I u2018Addu2019 all ProductCode to Destination Value pane, the Import Manager added duplicated rows to Product Master table while only loading 1 record to ProductByRegion table.  I canu2019t get ProductCode show up in Matching Destination Field list.  When I checked ProductMaster records in MDM Data Manager, I right-clicked on one of records, chose Edit Key Mappings, it didnu2019t show anything.  However, if I right-clicked on one of those duplicated rows, Edit Key Mapping shows remote system and key correctly.
    Where did I do wrong?  How can I fix the problem?
    Thank you for help in advance.
    From: SAP MDM Import Manager Reference Guide:
    Mapping to Main Table Lookup Destination Fields
    Import Manager handles main table lookup fields (Lookup [Main])
    differently than other MDM lookup fields. Specifically, Import Manager
    does not display the complete set of display field values of the records
    of the underlying lookup table. Instead, the values it displays for a main
    table lookup field are limited by both the key mappings for the lookup
    table and the values in the source file.
    Also, Import Manager does not automatically display the values of a
    Lookup [Main] destination field in the Destination Values grid when you
    select the field in the Destination Fields grid. Instead, for a main table
    lookup field value to appear in the Destination Values grid, all of the
    following conditions must be met:
    u2022 The lookup table must have key mapping enabled
    u2022 The lookup field must be mapped to a source field
    u2022 The source field must contain key values for the lookup table
    u2022 The destination value must have a key on the current remote system
    u2022 The destination valueu2019s key must match a source field value
    NOTE ►► The current remote system is the remote system that was
    selected in Import Manageru2019s Connect to Source dialog (see
    u201CConnecting to a Remote Systemu201D on page 416 for more information).

    Hi Michael,
    Thank you very much for your response.  I'm new to SAP MDM, I need some clarification and help regarding your solution.
    I did use two maps to load ProductMaster and ProductByRegion separately.  Here were my steps:
    1. create main table ProductMaster with key mapping enabled at the table level and set ProductCode as unique and writable once (primary key).
    2. create a map to load ProductMaster record from a staging table located an oracle database.  But Key mapping didn't show anything when I looked at them using Data Manager.
    3. create main table ProductByRegion with a lookup field looking at ProductMaster table.  This field and RegionId combines as a unique field for ProductByRegion table.
    4. create a map to load ProductByRegion table.  But ProductCode records only shows on the source pane not destination pane and can't be mapped properly.
    My questions:
    1. How can I "Ensure that you add key mapping info for all ProductMaster records" besides enabling Key Mapping on the table level?
    2. How can I define a concatenation of ProductCode and RegionId as a REMOTE KEY"?
    Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Inserting to a CLOB field in Oracle 8i  Database

    Hi All,
    I am trying to insert a value to a CLOB field in Oracle 8i DB.
    The value gets inserted when the size is less (Up to around 80 Bytes).
    When the size becomes larger the insertion does not take place but no exception is thrown.
    Please see below the code I have written.
    PreparedStatement preparedStatement = null;
              try {
                   connection = getConnection(MMAKeys.WMDS_DATASOURCE);
                   String query = "UPDATE s_mmhp_batch SET MMHP_REPORT_CLOB=(?) WHERE MMHP_BATCH_ID=(?) AND MMHP_USER_ID=(?) AND MMHP_MEMBER_KEY=(?)";
              preparedStatement=connection.prepareStatement(query);
              Reader r = new StringReader(clobReport);
              preparedStatement.setCharacterStream(1, r, clobReport.length());
              oracle.sql.CLOB newClob = oracle.sql.CLOB.createTemporary(connection , false, oracle.sql.CLOB.DURATION_CALL);
              newClob.putString(1,clobReport);
              preparedStatement.setClob(1,newClob);
              preparedStatement.setInt(2,batchId);
              preparedStatement.setString(3,userId);
              preparedStatement.setString(4,memberKey);
              preparedStatement.executeUpdate();
              System.out.println("inside the write to Batch method after executing the query");
              } catch (SQLException exception) {
                   throw new DAOException(
                        "MREDMMSDAO -> writeToTable():SQLException"
                             + exception.getMessage());
              } catch (Exception exception) {
                   throw new DAOException(
                        "MREDMMSDAO -> writeToTable():Exception"
                             + exception.getMessage());
              } finally {
                   closeStatement(preparedStatement);
                   closeConnection(connection);
    I came to know that this method is not supported in Oracle 8i.
    I tried to create an empty CLOB and call the putValue() method.
    But Then, I got an exception stating that the method is not supported.
    Is there any other way to insert a CLOB value to Oracle 8i?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Neelambary

    And cursor.callproc('insert_clob_proc', (clob,))
    doesn't work for you?
    PrzemekYes - I should have been more clear in my original post. The callproc function works until we have a value which is over 32K. At values over 32K, we get an error message "ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested". I believe this is because we are sending the value as a string and so we would need to figure out how to send as a CLOB in cx_Oracle? Here is some code to use to test if interested...
    Oracle (Oracle Database 10g Release 10.1.0.4.0 - Production):
    CREATE TABLE clob_test (CLOB_FIELD CLOB);
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE ins_clob_test (v_clob_field IN CLOB)
    AS
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO clob_test (clob_field) VALUES (v_clob_field);
    END ins_clob_test;
    Python (2.5):
    conn = cx_Oracle.connect(xhash['oraclelogin'])
    cursor = conn.cursor()
    clob_var = 'Some test data' * 10000
    cursor.callproc('ins_clob_test',(clob_var,))
    conn.commit()
    cursor.close()
    conn.close()
    I should also mention that I am the Oracle developer and not the Python programmer - my knowledge of Python is very limited. I would like the Python programmers to use the procedures (packages) I have created to do their inserts but this situation has caused them to put the SQL directly in their code.
    Thanks again for any assistance you can provide.

  • Fastest way to load csv into oracle BE table

    I have csv file which is having 10 million records in it . what is the fastest approach to load this data to oracle BE table .
    I am using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0 - 64bit Production With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options .
    csv format

    hi,
    You can use sql loader.
    options (skip=1)
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'csv file path'
    truncate /append
    INTO table table_name
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    trailing nullcols
    column name ,
    column name,
    column name
    {code}
    Create this file as ctl(control file.) on the lcoation where your csv file is.
    Execute it by goint to the path where your csv file resides.
    {code}
    cmd
    cd path where your csv file resides
    sqllder userid=username/password@database name control=your_control_file_name
    {code}

  • Blank space updatation to Collection field in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    we have the Oracle 9i database in the dev environment and Oracle 10g in Production environment.
    In Oracle 9i, the below scenario works find, but in Oracle 10g it won'nt, The scenerio is ,
    Update table1
    set test_collection = ' '; -- works fine in Oracle 9i , but it wont works in Oracle 10g,
    Update tabel1
    set test_collection = null; -- works in both the versions.
    Please suggest,.
    raja k

    What is myv, is that the collection name ?? See post number 5 of this thread where I declared it.
    >
    In Oracle 9i, we need not to specify the collection
    name while updating the collection type field in the
    table. 9.2.0.6 was notoriously buggy and wasn't considered stable till 9.2.0.7 if I recall correctly. And now (thankfully) it's unsupported.
    The sql code was written in concern to Oracle 9i, now
    while migrating to Oracle 10g, we are getting the
    problem with this. The problem is , i don'nt have the
    access to Production environment, which is migrated
    to Oracle 10g, we develop the code on Oracle 9i, and
    will release to deploy on Oracle 10g. Develop in 9i and deploy to 10g! Do you really think that's a good setup? How about upgrading your development environment to match production.
    update table1 set test_collection = null; - this
    works fine in Oracle 9i ,
    update table1 set test_collection = ''; - this works
    fine in Oracle 9i ,
    but in Oracle 10g ,
    update table1 set test_collection = null; - this
    works fine in Oracle 10g ,
    update table1 set test_collection = ''; - this won'nt
    works in Oracle 10g , Yes, I already understand what your issue is.
    as you suggested, do we need to specify the
    collection name while updating the collection type
    field. in Oracle 10g, In Oracle 9i , it won'nt
    required ?? Yes, this would be the correct way to do it.
    Karthick,
    because null is not same as ''
    SQL> select * from dual where ''=null
    2 /
    no rows selectedErrrm, yes it is actually...
    SQL> select 1 from dual where '' is null;
    1
    1
    SQL>
    ... if you use the correct condition for checking nulls.

  • Issue related with CLOB field in Oracle and PI

    Dear Experts,
    We are trying to transfer material Long description from SAP to Oracle table.
    There is a field in Oracle table 'LNG_DESC' which is defined as CLOB.
    In PI mapping we have defined that fields as String type with Maxlength as 14000.
    There are few materials for which this limit is excedding and we are getting ORA:014
    String too Long' error in communication channel.
    Kindly suggest that how can we define a field in PI as CLOB or how to handle this
    situation.
    Thanks
    Sumit

    Hi Hank,
    The reason could be either improper set up and loading sequence followed, or transactions not locked while performing set up filling and initialization.
    There could be two approaches to rectify this.
    1. Redo the inventory data, as per how to document.
    2. Identify the transactions that are not captured, by running the reports and analysing the date on which transactions are not captured(this could be quite painful) and then fill set up of movements just for these documents and load to cube without discurbing the deltas.
    Do write back to me, if you have any questions.

  • Extracting xmldata from clob field in oracle

    I have an xml document stored in xmltype (clob)field in oracle
    Below is the xml data inside the xml ( I have kind of 300 elements similar to this inside the xml)
    <ns1:E-I12_IS_13 ObjID="I12" ObjType="e">5437090</ns1:E-I12_IS_13>

    <ns1:E-I14_IS_15 ObjID="I14" ObjType="e">9</ns1:E-I14_IS_15>
    The requirement is to get all the elements from the xmldata and compare against the 15-16 oracle tables ( here xml is converted and stored in these tables by a tibco process)
    select dbms_lob.instr(clobcolumnname,'E-I13_IS_14') from tablename  where  ( given condition to extract specific transaction)
    the above statement gives me position of the string
    select dbms_lob.substr(clobcolumnname,6( length of element value),870(position from where the value starts)) from tablename where  condition
    the abv statement gives me the element value
    but I want to extract the value for  any element by giving the element name ( if u see any value comes after objtype="e"  between > and < tags)
    can anyone on this forum tell me to extract the element value just by giving element name ( since I have to do the same for n number of elements - how to find position of > and < tags??)

  • Oracle GL_INTERFACE table - Data Populate

    We would like to populate the accounting data in Oracle GL_INTERFACE table (Oracle EBS R 12.1.3) and the data receiving that import from other systems like SAP/People Soft or Home based applications
    Since SAP/PeopleSoft/Homebased Application does not have web/other servcies to PUSH the accounting data to Oracle EBS GL_INTERFACE table. We are looking the possible options from Oracle EBS prospective to receive the data from other system.
    1. Is there any standard Oracle API is available to meet this requirement or do we need to develop the PL/Sql Prgm?
    And other alternative solution is looking for...
    2. Installting the BEPEL in a SOA and use the "mq" servcies to find the solution. In case if we want to use the BPEL-SOA it might need the seperate license. As SOA geteway is standalone component and it is not part of Oracle EBS R12 Suite.
    3. Is there any other solutions to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance to speraing the time on this.... Thank you.

  • Data Type for a Longitude/Latitude Column in an Oracle dB Table?

    Greetings All,
    What is the recommended data type for a Longitude(Lon) or Latitude(Lat) Column of an Oracle dB Table? I am creating a signs inventory table in our Oracle database to be used as a data warehouse for our signs inventory. The Lon and Lat fields along with some other data will be populated from a MS access file exported from our Geodatabase. Currently the data type for the Lon and Lat fields of the MS access file is defined as "Double". A couple of Examples of the Lon and Lat data are as follows:
    Lat                       Lon
    59.4564555909     -135.3133542922
    64.841125            -148.01808
    ...What data type should these two columns be defined in the new Oracle database table??? Should the data type be defined as FLOAT(126), NUMBER(10, 6), or else? Any suggestions/help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    If the data type is defined as NUMBER(10,6), the first example of Lon "-135.3133542922" will be truncated to "-135.313354" or would I receive an error while trying to import the data from an access file to the Oracle dB?
    Thanks in advance for any/all the help.

    Orchid,
    Is SDO_GEOMETRY available in Oracle 10g?Yup. I'm still on 10g as well; there's no shame in that.
    How do I format my lat/long's into WKT and use the SDO_GEOMETRY constructor?The March 16th example shows the steps, but I take it you're trying to get your data from MS Access into Oracle. Is that right? If so, consider these options:
    OPTION 1, When you have < 50k records
    Simply write a query that returns INSERT statements that you can run against Oracle.
    For example, let's say you have a table in MS Access defined as msaCoords (ID, LongX, LatY).
    Let's say, your destination table in Oracle is named oraCoords(ID NUMBER, Geometry MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY). Then,
    SELECT "INSERT INTO oraCoords (ID, Geometry) VALUES (" & ID & ", SDO_GEOMETRY('POINT (" & LongX & "," & LatY & "'), 8307);" FROM msaCoords;
    -- "MS-ACCESS QUERY RESULTS"
    INSERT INTO oraCoord (ID, Geometry) VALUES (1, SDO_GEOMETRY('POINT (-135.3133542922,59.4564555909'), 8307);
    INSERT INTO oraCoord (ID, Geometry) VALUES (2, SDO_GEOMETRY('POINT (-148.01808,64.841125'), 8307);Save those MS-ACCESS QUERY RESULTS to a text-file (D:\MyPts.sql). Launch SqlPlus and type @D:\MyPts.sql
    Once it's done, type Commit into SqlPlus and you're done.
    OPTION 2, when you have > 50k records
    Use SqlLoader. There's an example posted { here | http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=9412123&#9412123 }
    Cheers,
    Noel

  • Name of built in unique row identifier field in Oracle

    I believe that I read somewhere that each Oracle database table comes with a built in unique row identifier field. Could somebody please confirm whether this is true and if so, please tell me the name of that field.
    Thanks.

    Are you referring to ROWID by any chance? If yes, this may help with the relevant information - http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14220/datatype.htm#i8776
